she's really poorly today as well. she was fine this morning and went to preschool, but come 2pm she was very tired. wouldnt sleep as per normal. then flaked out at 4pm until 530. she then lay on the beanbag watching tv until 615 when she asked to go to bed she is def very hot although i cant get her to let me take her temp. docs in the morn.

Bozza · 10/10/2006 10:44

TBH Egypyt it could be some other bug that is going around. Mine had it when DS was 3.6 and DD was 5 months. And in their case they were both fine until they came out in spots. DD got it much worse than DS (and everyone on here was saying little, breastfed babies were fine!) and would not be put down night or day, I literally had to hand her to DH while I went to the loo and slept sat up holding her all night. But DS was not too bad - a bit miserable and sick once but happy to sit and watch DVDs. I hope you get some help from the doctor.

kbaby · 10/10/2006 11:22

sorry just a quick note, our internet is broken so im on my parents. hope everyone as is well i havent read the messages.

we started potty trining dd last week, well actually the nursery started. its v mixed she only goes if you constantly remind her, were averaging 2 accidents a day. each time she goes we have to clean the floor[as she keeps getting off before shes finished, and wants to pour it in the loo] then only she can put all her clothes back on so we end up with 2 legs in one leg hole. she also needs a wee everytime shes on the naughty step!
oh and she weed on the climbing frame at the park half tempted to call it a day but ive started so ill finish surely itll klick at some point.

Bozza · 10/10/2006 11:31

kbaby it took a week for DD to really click and another week to become anything like reliable. She is pretty good now though. Although last week we had what I suspect was a deliberate poo in the pants. I asked her where big girls poo and she said "in pants" and laughed.

spookegypt · 11/10/2006 13:39

hee hee cheeky monkey

its not chick pox after all. in fact it wasnt even a school. nice of them to tell us that it was suspected then not tell us that it was just a virus after all. so thats what she's had and she's fine though, although the doc wanted me to get a wee sample to rule out an infection. so have done that too.

we have done the wee on the climbing frame and one at the top of the slide - which trickled all the way down to the bottom . luckily the park was quite empty and i had a tissue, but how embarrassing.

spookegypt · 11/10/2006 13:41

that post didnt make much sense did it? the wee on the slide was in no way related to the wee sample btw!

Bozza · 11/10/2006 13:42

But at least she is potty trained egypt. Wee sample in babies is a nightmare. Glad she is feeling better.

spookegypt · 12/10/2006 13:27

yes i remember trying to get a wee sample when she was a baby with one of those stick on bags. not nice or possible. think i gave up in end.

Hello! It's been a while....
We moved house at the end of August and only got online last week - gah! However, it's been for the best because I've had so much to do with the house, DD starting school etc. that I couldn't, nay wouldn't, have DARED set foot in here. There is a girl at Tumbletots who is a Mumsnetter and she has been issuing tantalising titbits to me on a weekly basis...but never revealing too much so I do need to do some dedicated trawling, I think.
Our house is lovely - 4 bedrooms now so that DH can work at home in relative peace and quiet. DD is settled in at school and enjoying it very much. DS is doing fine, talking loads, and....has been potty trained for 5 days now and is doing marvellously! (touches wood frantically, aware of smug sentence, pride coming before fall etc.)
Right, have to go and do some chores but I'll try and pop back on whist DH is glued to Monty Don this evening.
Oh =- haven't read any of this thread so please excuse me if I've missed out any urgent commiserations/congratulations etc.

spookegypt · 13/10/2006 14:10

oo judd! thats great. happy new home. you lucky thing. 4 bedroom....she dreams.

hope potty training is going well.

speak soon xx

kbaby · 18/10/2006 11:57

still potty training but still v mixed, shes still only occasionally asking, if i ask her she just gets stubborn and says 'no' so im just taking her to the toilet every hr, i dont know if this is the right thing to do or not, its been 2 weeks now.
shes having tantrums galore at the moment and deliberatly doing something naughty then when i tell her off she looks at you while doing it again grghhh...

Bozza · 18/10/2006 15:14

kbaby I think after 2 weeks that sounds fine TBH. She will eventually start asking.

Judd was wondering when you would find your way back on here. Glad the move went OK. Can't imagine moving now - we have so much stuff compared with what we used to have.

All fine here. Gearing up for half term when the CM is off so we have complex arrangements re DS, which will all confuse DD and cause her to be grumpy.

Judd · 18/10/2006 21:52

Hiya, DH is away (went Monday) so I'm at a loose end. He was planning on only being away one night but took "enough pants to last until Friday" which is a HUGE improvement from when we first met and he could run one pair for .....ooooh weeks! Had to take the children out in the car just before 7pm (DS only wearing dressing gown ) because I suddenly knew I couldn't get through the evening without gin and tonic and we had no tonic.
I've got a Mums' Evening tomorrow with the mums from DD's new school. I know precisely no one so it will be scarey but I know I've got to do it. DD seems to love school but we have gone back to bedwetting so I've put her back in pull ups, reassuring her that she is still a big girl, and it is our little secrent that nobody else knows "not even DS!"
DS is ace at potty training (gulp, hope that's not scuppered it!) I've tested him out at Gulliver's Kingdom and the Wacky and he;'s done fine. I just ensure he goes before we leave the house, although he does like to settle down for a good long sesh infront of CBeebies just as we are about to set off for school! He did try and make me take him 3 times during DD's half an hour swimming lesson though - I think it was just the novelty of the different toilets. Changing rooms are blooming freezing though.
Everybody seems to have half term next week, Stockport doesn't have it until the week after next - don't know why we are always out of kilter, although it apparently makes it cheap if you go somewhere like Centerparcs.
Must go, will speak soon.

Bozza · 19/10/2006 09:06

Gosh Judd you fitted a lot of info into that one post. LOL at dragging the children off for tonic. I have started drinking a glass of tonic (minus the gin) at night to try and alleviate my restless legs (read that the quinine in it helps). My DH is here all week and then working away on Friday night - which just happens to be the disco at school. But he has to be back for 10am because it is DS's swimming lesson at 10.30 and I have to go in with him. And then he has to take DD to a party that starts at 11. Then I am going to go and take over, so he can take DS home for his lunch and get ready for golf. Not complicated at all, is it?

Don't worry about tonight - have one of those g&ts before you go and I am sure it will be fine.

We are having real problems with both children but DD in particular on the days that I work. DD is really grumpy, hitting us, saying she doesn't like us, etc at tea time. This in turn causes DS to start attention seeking and playing up. Then itis all fine again while we play and they have their bath. But once out of the bath it all starts up again with DD going off on one about which pants she is going to wear, which towel to get dry etc and DS deliberately winding her up, her hitting him etc. It is a nightmare.

kbaby · 20/10/2006 10:19

we get the im not wearing that tantrums aswell, dressing is a nightmare, in fact we went to playgroup yesterday with tights and a t shirt on as she wouldnt wear the skirt.

Bozza · 20/10/2006 16:33

DS was a little bit like this about the clothes but not nearly so bad as DD.

spookegypt · 22/10/2006 15:14

oh yes. it takes forever to dress dd in the mornings. well anytime actually. weekends are quite often spent in pjs. its not about what i'm asking her to wear, more just not wanting to be dressed, and def no hairbrushing. really bad. when do girls let you brush their hair? she is full of curls, thats the prob

we're off to singapore on wed without dd. feeling scared now x

Ponka · 22/10/2006 21:37

Congrats, Judd on your new house. Are you settled in or is there a ton to do?

Good luck, Egypt. How long are you going for? Is it a trip to find somewhere to live? You'll be fine.

Bozza · 22/10/2006 21:52

DD will generally let me brush her hair. But then we have to argue about which clip she has etc. Egypt have you tried a detangling spray?

And good luck for the trip. Must all be a bit unsettling just now.

spookegypt · 23/10/2006 10:11

funny you should say that bozza, a woman at the pub said just the same thing on friday. (about the spray). i shall have to get some.

yes all a bit unsettling at the mo. mil came over to babysit on sat and put her to bed after we'd gone. she waved at the window to us and was perfectly happy to see us go, so no reason why it wont be that easy on weds night. thing is we've been telling her for ages that mummy and daddy are going on an aeroplane and nana and nanny are looking after her, that i think she knows its going to be for a long time. or do they not have much concept of time? hope not.

it was horrid to hear her say, 'where's mummy going to live?' ahhhh. dh has been away so much lately, that the other night, we drove to meet him from work to view a house (another story) and dd saif 'is this where daddy lives?' awww, he must try and spend more time with her.

Bozza · 23/10/2006 21:29

Egypt they really don't have much concept of time. Even DS who is 5 struggles with it sometimes. He is getting better at the longterm, as in couting sleeps to Halloween disco last week, but in the short term he still drives me mad with wanting to do things after the time slot has passed. But DD is still pretty clueless. I think I would try and speak to her on the phone as much as possible.

Met my friend's baby for the first time today. She is 4 months and tiny. Friend lives far side of Birmingham so we don't see each other that often. Then we had other friends over yesterday with their 6mo. I could start getting broody. But DD is pretty much knocking that out of me. She has been suffering from lack of sleep this weekend - late nights and missing or short naps.

spookegypt · 25/10/2006 08:03

today is the day. i feel sick with nerves. mil coming over early this morning. have lots to do - eg get shopping in so dd's not short of anything, pack my case, clean sheets on beds for everyone, etc.

phew, will keep you posted from singapore if i have the chance! planning on teaching mil how to use skype so we can find an internet cafe and see dd on webcam. bit hopeful really. but if she looks upset it will bother me. hmmmm

bye! xx

Ponka · 25/10/2006 08:13

Bye Egypt!!! I'm nervous for you. Have a good time. I hope everything goes smoothly today. x

Bozza · 25/10/2006 09:30

Good luck egypt.

helsy · 27/10/2006 09:44

Quick update.
Missed you Egypt, hope it's going well!
Dd2 is fine with a very strong personality coming through.
She's had some problems sleeping for a few weeks - not going to sleep until 10, crying until then, waking at 2 and not going back to sleep until 4 - but the last couple of days have been ok (I know, I shouldn't say that).
We just worked out how to link up the camcorder to the DVD , so last night we watched dd1's second birthday tape. Really cute, and you can see how much her language has developed since then. I looked enormous and am very glad that I joined Weightwatchers two weeks ago, because I've lost 8 pounds already!
