Ah he is still so innocent. Our magic phase is "big girl" sometimes followed by "like x".

Ponka you will be pleased to know that DH is now watching golf, having also listened to it on the radio and checked the scores on the internet in the meantime. Why am I on here? Although to be fair he has broken off long enough to go get a Chinese, bath the kids, read DS's reading book and play 3 games of Guess Who with DS and me.

Bozza · 23/09/2006 21:01

DH normally makes breakfast but I did it this week when he was away. Anyway I didn't give DD's readybrek long enough and kept saying "round and round" - took it a while to dawn on me that she actually meant "stick it back in the microwave".

But yes the littlest thing is massively important. She is back in knickers tonight despite DS flashing several times to prove that it is not necessary to wear pants under your pjs.

egypt · 23/09/2006 21:15

bless your ds bozza.

well, we have golf on at the mo but SOMEONE is snoring on the sofa! is millionaire still on? did you see that guy win a million?!

i'm having a reminiscing time take a look!

Ponka · 23/09/2006 21:26

I SO know what you mean about expecting offers. I'm winding myself up in the same manor at the moment because they never come.

It really is best to ask but I can't bring myself to. I have to remember though that he is going through a lot at the moment and that could be why he is at his worst. I strongly suspect depression. He is prone to it. MIL is recovering well after her op. on Wednesday. We have been to see her. She is so brave. We seem to have got into a cycle where I do pretty much all the chldcare except DS1s bath time and DS2s late night feed and the odd cooing/playing when he feels like it. He sleeps all morning on days he doesn't work and the kids and I do our own thing. I wake him up for dinner. He then stays up all night playing games on the computer. To be honest, I really don't look forward to the weekends because of this and it shouldn't be like that. Sorry. Shoudn't rant. Sorry to say guys but I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like that. It's good not to be alone!

I also know what you mean about the little things like pants. DS1's favourite phrase is "Jake do it". I thought I was being clever when I got him to help make DS2s milk (by me lifting him up to put it in the bottle warmer) when he was born. You know, you are supposed to get them involved. 6 months down the line he goes mad if he can't do it.

He's sitting on his potty and Luke starts asking for his milk: "Jake do it"
He's covered all over with yoghurt on hands and face in the highchair
"Jake do it"
He's shovelling dirt in the garden,
"Jake do it"
It can be quite difficult at times

Ponka · 23/09/2006 21:36

Awwww, Egypt, where did you get that?! I wish I had discovered Mumsnet whilst pregnant. I would've had a lot more time to post!

I wonder if Judd is moving house atm?

Bozza · 23/09/2006 21:52

ponka at rod for your own back situations that you can't predict. Sorry about your troubles with DH. I am half thinking about taking off on my own for a few hours tomorrow afternoon. I have already promised the children I will take them swimming in the morning and we are booked up on Sundays for the next 3 weeks and DH plays golf on Saturday so my only chance for a while.

Egypt you sentimental old thing. A pity that all twiglett's posts have been deleted though.

Ponka · 23/09/2006 22:15

Do it! We should all make a pact to do more of that/ask more.

helsy · 24/09/2006 08:10

Hello everyone, I haven't been on this thread for a while.
Ponka it sounds like you're having a difficult time of it - try to get some itme to yourself if you can.
Linnett sorry to hear about your holiday.

We started potty training on Friday. I did start the week before, but she went to nursery on Monday after doing really well at home on the Sunday, and apparently she weed on the floor ("AND on my chair, mummy") all day - didn't ask for the toilet once - so they put her in nappies at 4 0'clock. I was really downhearted, then they remembered to tell me that ALL of the staff in her room had changed that day, and no they hadn't told me this before, they just handed me a letter rather sheepishly and suggested that because SHE DIDN'T KNOW ANY OF HER CARERS perhaps she was a little unsettled? No s**t Sherlock. Honestly. So we started again on Friday and she's been ok the last two days but, much to dd1's disgust, when she does wee on the floor she goes into dd1's room to do it!
She's now on the lowest quartile for her height - she was off the bottom of the scale - and she still has very little hair so she looks very babyish still, which I quite like actually.

We're starting Monkey Music on Friday. I think she'll love it.
I know what you mean about DHs, although mine's being Mr Helpful atm. I think it's because he suspects I may be premenopausal and doesn't want me to kick off!
Ponka I accidentally left some shopping in Nottingham last Saturday, so if you go into a certain Japanese shop and say you're me you'll get a free pack of 6 toothbrushes and a citrus scented candle

helsy, its still early days with the potty training so dont worry. dd has days now, 4 months on when she decides she's just going to wee on the floor all day!

ponka, sorry about your mil. i had forgotten all about her. how is she bearing up? and how is your dh? does she have to have any further treatment? chemo? or was the masectomy enough to take away the cancer? can i ask if your dh has a sister? its just that oddly enough my friend from chesterfield has a friend who's mum has just had a masectomy this week. cant remember the name of her friend, not that i'd say on here, and not even sure where she is from, but i know you and i are in the same area-ish. would be a coincidence.

Ponka · 24/09/2006 12:02

Hello Helsy. Oh dear. Poor you with the shopping. I'm actually going to town shortly but I don't think I'm going in there! Don't worry re. the potty training. DS was weeing all over the place for the first 3 weeks. Pampers care mats are great to protect car seats etc!

Too much of a coincidence, Egypt. DH only has 1 brother so it's not us. That would be freaky. MIL is bearing up very well. DH is not so good and he was trying to hide that from her but she can tell. FIL is tired but O.K. I guess they will check when she has recovered but this should be the end of it. It was just cancerous cells and had not turned into a tuma yet. It was stuck in the milk ducts and hadn't spread. They caught it early on a mamogram. They actually offered her the chance of just having a lump removed but there was a 20- 30% chance of reoccurence so she chose to have the lot out to be sure. I would, too.

Bozza · 24/09/2006 20:45

It sounds like she is doing as well as can be expected then ponka. Hard on DH though.

Helsy hope the potty training is going well. Nice of nursery to do that to you - not. DD went to bed without pants on but while I was downstairs ironing and watching Corrie and DH was upstairs watching Ryder Cup (nice insight into our Sunday evening) she started calling for pants.

I did go to Meadowhall this afternoon. I bought a wrapround dress from H&M but I am not sure how flattering it is on the tummy area. I think I need to wear it with heels and I was wearing ballet pumps when I tried it on. Also bought 2 hotwheels cars for stockings, a blackboard rubber (to go with easel I am getting from Ikea tomorrow), a baby doll (ELC had run out of buggies so will need to go back), and Smartest Giant book. So only the one item for me then.

spots · 24/09/2006 21:17

Bozza, I wear pants in bed, even under pj's... but you don't need to tell your DD that...

Ponka sorry things are hard work with DH. It does sound the sort of situation that would test someone that was prone to depression. I do know what you mean about weekends though. I have got to resent the fact that every Friday I relax into thinking I'll get help with the girls for the next two days, then the actuality of it is that I don't because even when DH tries to help DD1 runs to me and DD2 needs a feed about every millisecond.

But I'm a worm for saying that today... this weekend has been nice. Today was so rainy there was nothing to do but take a huge bath (me and both girls) do puzzles with DD1 and go to the woody park for a wet walk. DD1 seemed very grownup today. She is talking about 'yesterday' and 'on Tuesday' which sounds adult even when she gets it wrong.

Egypt I revisited a thread where you had some photos once. Anyone feel like posting any recent ones? Would love to see how the leetle cheeldren are growing. Helsy my DD1 is also rather sparse on top.

spots · 24/09/2006 21:27

OK I just did one, in member profiles, anyone else?

egypt · 25/09/2006 10:04

aww spots. cute. i havent ever looked at member profiles you know! will post a piccie then.

egypt · 25/09/2006 10:09

hmm seems my file's too big. how do i condense it down? you could see my photobox though...

egypt · 25/09/2006 10:10

here you go

spots · 25/09/2006 10:12

I have a bit called HP Image Zone where you alter the 'size' (always confuses me) to 'email/blog' - makes it grainier because not using so much memory??? I think??? then it is compatible with the member profiles hoover nozzle that magically hoovers up the picture and presents it for everyone to see.

spots · 25/09/2006 10:17

weeeeeeeee! look at her! what a wee girly she is just the same but gone all curly. egypt thanks she's gorgeous.

egypt · 25/09/2006 10:33

aww thanks.

i really should be doing my ironing. this is weird - dd being at pre-school. i just don't know what to do with myself. have dyed my hair, totally stained the bathroom, played about on the pc and am watching daytime tv. I LOVE IT!

must iron...

egypt · 25/09/2006 10:36

by the way, that IS apple juice in the bath picture!

Bozza · 25/09/2006 12:50

Spots I would hope that you are not as sweaty as my DD. The other day after her nap I thought she had wet the bed. It was just sweat.

I haven't got round to looking for your member's profile yet but will soon. Eygpt - so much hair, and those lovely curls. I will try and sort out some photos soon.

Ponka · 25/09/2006 16:18

Lovely photos Egypt! She looks just as I remember her at about 1 yr. So cute. I might be able to link to some of us somewhere. I'm not very technical.

spots · 25/09/2006 20:52

Bozza. Yes I am.

Bozza · 25/09/2006 21:48

LOL.

helsy · 25/09/2006 21:52

Just been in dd2's room and I think she's pooed. Dilemma: If I wake her (and I really do want to change her nappy), it's unlikely that she'll go back to sleep without one of us in her room for a long time - like an hour and a half. So, do I leave her?

Yesterday she said "I need a wee mummy", so I pulled her pants down to put her on the potty and a poo fell out - I was holding that wondering how to get rid of it whilst still holding onto dd2 when another poo dropped onto the floor, I lost my balance and knelt in it - in the ONLY designer jeans I have EVER owned (Ralph Lauren - my sister bought them)!

Just thought I'd share that with you all
