Thanks for replies everyone. My common sense says they are fine, they are happy and like I said, DT2 is chunky. DT1 is skinny but a happy, smiley baby. The GP said he thinks it has to do with their iron stores. Babies born before 34 weeks don't get the supply of their mothers iron stories. I do give them iron supplements but it may not be enough. I can't see how an iron deficiency can lead to weight loss though.

YW I mentioned to the GP about them skipping a feed now because they sleep through, he said it could be that and it will become a concern if they drop another centile. It has made me paranoid during each feed and I get stressy if they don't drink all their milk. Stupid, but I can't help it.

Am in bed with kindle. I gave not used it in so long it's got a completely empty battery and may be 30 mins before I can bring a book up on it! I however am thankful LO goes to bed at 7 so I can do this.

Am going to attempt elf like status during night as doing first night on powder formula feeds which will involve stair running and not letting him get too hysterical whilst also reducing his 4/5am feed. To do this I shall imagine I am detective

Horsey bless etienne! He is sooo cute.

Garden do not stress. You know your girls and know they are happy. Bet this is all the paed says.

Pikz · 07/03/2013 20:13

Blonder can I have a badge that says 'I am socially awkward and therefore chatting Shiite, do not let this put you off'

PetiteRaleuse · 07/03/2013 20:22

Garden a check by the paed won't do any harm. Use the opportunity to ask any questions you have about anything else. It's good to see a specialist from time to time.

BigPigLittlePig · 07/03/2013 20:24

I find I can talk shit to people from other generations really well - partly I suppose from work, but also because I feel like it doesn't matter what opinion they form of me. Whereas people at, say, baby group, who I would like to get on with, and form friendships with, and therefore care what they think of me - clam up. Cannot think of what to say.

My brother is worse. A friend and his gf invited my brother to go snowboarding with them, and another girl, during the cold snap. Clearly in an attempt to set them up. My brother and this girl were stood on top of a hill, alone, and he said nothing to her, not a single word. The longer the silence went on, the less he could think of to say. Now I'm sure none of us on here are that bad judging by the number of threads we get through anyway

horseylady · 07/03/2013 20:25

pikz the only feed I pre make is the overnight one. Just a thought then it just needs a quick zap in the microwave!!

PetiteRaleuse · 07/03/2013 20:29

I find it very hard to form friendships in France. Lots of reasons. But I think one might be my very Britishness.

LO much better after a nap and a feed. Very grinny tonight.

DD1 is a Belieber. She's not even 2 FFS.

sweetpea1112 · 07/03/2013 20:30

pikz I pre make all my feeds. Makes it much easier at night.

My scintillating contributions at baby group yesterday were ' oh yes, I use Cow&Gate too' and 'doesnt your baby have a lot of hair' Hmm You really wouldn't think I have a brain. There is one mum there who is lovely and who I would like to get to know more, but like you pig I completely clam up. Am thinking of giving up on the groups as O hates them too, but there is a talk on weaning next week so may give it one more go.

horseylady · 07/03/2013 20:36

Try mine me 'so how old is you little boy?'

Lady 'SHE is 12 weeks'

PetiteRaleuse · 07/03/2013 20:38

:o

Sorry.

DD1 is still mistaken for a boy. I got used to it at 3 months and got over it :o

sweetpea1112 · 07/03/2013 20:38

Pikz · 07/03/2013 20:39

Horsey that just tested my pelvic floor again!

BigPigLittlePig · 07/03/2013 20:42

horsey Grin oops

sweetpea I find you just have to ask questions about the baby to begin with. I remember, when F was about 6 weeks old, I was trying to strike up conversation with a lady who has a son, H, also 6 weeks old. She was wearing heels, so tried to talk about the fact she was brave enough to venture out with a newborn and car seat in heels - conversation fell flat. She has turned out to be lovely though, and we have had many conversations since, not all about babies none about shoes

pikz am going to follow your lead and head up to bed soon with a book I think, really miss reading. Lots. Ah well, there'll be time aplenty for reading when I'm old and grey and in a nursing home.

horseylady · 07/03/2013 20:43

Seriously she looked like a boy....

I have now learnt to say 'how old are THEY'been very tempted to say it at times....

sweetpea1112 · 07/03/2013 20:46

Wish I lived near other quiche members for meet ups etc but there doesn't seem to be anyone my way Sad

Off to bed, with OH doing the nightshift. Hoping for some sleep and a brighter perspective tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Wishing good nights and sleeping babies to you all Smile

blonderedhead · 07/03/2013 20:51

I'm going into badge production I think. That or indicators for prams, my two great ideas.

Glad to hear everyone else feels the same. I thought it wasn't uncommon but good to know. I am good in one-to-one situations but in a crowd or with lots of strong personalities my instinct is to shrink back. Again not uncommon I think. Will look at poss activities tomorrow. I am very glad to have our quiche to chat to!

Tits I found L was v clingy after jabs so just lots of cuddles (and Calpol).

It is my bedtime, night night all. xx

horseylady · 07/03/2013 21:01

sweetpra there's a few of us in the midden? Think some Birmingham or outskirts etc. could do meet up round there?

When DD1 was about eight months we were at a hotel bar at Frankfurt Airport. She was dressed in pink for once. There was a group of slightly drunk German tourists whose flight to Mexico had been delayed overnight so they were at the bar. This was my conversation with one of them:

  • you have a very handsome little boy
  • thank you. She's a girl.
  • really? But his face looks like a boy.
  • yeah, she really is a girl :)
  • really? But even the shape of his head is like a boy
  • I PROMISE you she is a girl. Look, she's wearing pink
  • oh well, you know, plenty of boys are dressed in pink nowadays
  • she's a girl
  • if you say so....

It was so funny.

horseylady · 07/03/2013 21:09

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/03/2013 21:09

ValiumQueen · 07/03/2013 21:20
