Morning all. Thankful Thursday. I'm thankful that the house is silent. I'm sure I'll be thankful for more later.

Thankful that I can have DS in his sleeping bag & feed him laying down, but know that if when we both fall asleep in the process, he won't get too hot, too cold or smothered by the duvet. Good job when he fed every 3 motherfucking hours last night!! (I missed sweary Wednesday )

fatima think DS is too greedy to notice much, although does like to stop & chat occassionally. DD used to look around the room whilst ^keeping hold of my nipple>

missL was it you asking about bedtime? With DD we used to put her to bed at a time that suited us/DH's commute to London, so between 8 & 9. It's only now, when I have to get her up & out earlier that I want to bring this forward a bit. DS goes to bed after DD, but its still not 7pm. Do what suits you...

Thankful for Kindles, which allow me to read Call the Midwife & be grateful I'll never have to go to the workhouse.

The gp said the sphincter sometimes weakens before it strengthens and the use of gaviscon means it will stop the vom. Interestingly you can hear when he would normally vom but nothing comes up. The gaviscon works as a seal.

I'll be interested to see what happens come weaning. There seem to be conflicting ideas about when is best to wean reflux babies.

fatima I too have a v nosy baby in the last two days. F keeps teasing me looking as if he's about to feed and then plpping off to grin at me. V cute but v frustrating! And worse when we're out and about. Dark quiet rooms for feeding a bit trickier with an older one!

I am thankful there was no poonami at the local leisure centre yesterday. Both boys having gone 48 hours... Both managed to wait til we got home but a bit stressful with ds1 looking like he might go several times and not yet having actually managed one on the potty yet! So v thankful we got home and he recognised signs and made it to the potty in time. won't mention he got v excited and stood up too soon to see i'm also thankful for laminate floors. Stickers on the chart and chocolate buttons all round.

I need a new hobby. I've turned into a parent who keeps talking about their children's toilet habits.

detective glad your boiler seemed ok last night. Hope it's still that way this morning.

Can't decide whether to take f to be weighed. Hv and dr both suggested would be good idea to see if now tracking a line. Not sure i'd do anything diff even if he wasn't and he's under consultant care anyway because of the utis so a bit meh about the whole thing

laughalot our Dottie goes to bed around 11pm though last night it was 10 wooo by the time tea, homework, baths, hairdrying and story is done for dd1 about 8pm we take Dottie upstairs chuck something on tv last night we watched the first black mirror about the pm shagging a pig wtf?? give her bottle and bf, swaddle and nappy change then usually she has a chat with us before the other boob then bed. We're not too fussed about trying to get her to go earlier - she sleeps til 6-7 so were not gonna mess that up!!

Why o why after 6 years of marriage and 8 of being together can dh still not make my cup of tea the way I like it??? I am a bit of a tea diva (has to be strong but then topped with lots of milk with 2 proper sugars!!) and he still balks it up!!!!

Off to a soft play place today with dd1 and a few friends - hopefully as its nice out everyone else will have gone to the zoo!!!

Ha ha glenda, I too am a tea nazi and like it very strong, but with lots of milk so that I can gulp it straight away (probably as a result of having so many kids and not having time to wait for it to cool). Only one sugar for me though :)

My 4yo turned into a 5 yo yesterday. It is quite odd- she seemed to rocket from birth to 4, but then seems to have been 4 forever. We got her a lego police station for her birthday. Took DH nearly three and a half hours to put it together last night after we got in from our day out, by which time she had fallen asleep on my foot on the floor. She was amazed when she got up this morning and it was complete. She is playing with it now, on the coffee table. I am not looking forward to the babies getting mobile and crunching on the inevitable spread of lego bricks that will be covering all carpets in the house!

I put in the application for the masters. Am chewing my hands off in nervousness, waiting to hear the outcome. I guess I really should start my dissertation for the degree I am currently doing since it is due in mid-April, eh?

Babies' last lot of jabs today. Absolutely hate it. Especially since River seemed to know what the nurse was doing when she moved around to jab the other leg last time. River roared at her and tried to escape. Saul was unsuspecting and was traumatised all over again with the second leg jab :( Poor babies.

On the plus side though, I am going to pick up a rocking horse for them today, exactly the same as the one that mm got for such a bargainous price (and condition!). Hopefully that will cheer them up a bit.

cat awwwwww loved those times when dd1 would sleep where she fell - got lots of pics of her curled up on the dogs bed or on a beanbag!!! Kudos to you finishing a degree, starting a masters with twins and 5 yr old!!!!

Ha ha, let us not forget the 13 yo and 10 yo. Sometimes they are more work than the yoinger ones!

pr I read that thread. Gawd how I despise the DM. I actually despise the fact that it seems to be representative of a significant proportion of the citizens of my country more. My MIL reads it, but claims to do so ironically At least she has the decency to be embarassed about it.

I NEED DD to go to sleep - the other folk in my mothers group all have babies who go to sleep! I am permanently running around with a grouchy girl who will not nap enough - anyone else with babies on reflux meds (yw, pass, comrade?) have this problem and what do you do to make them sleep?

Wow!! I have a 13yr old lad and for the majority of the time he is brilliant but occasionally the hormones creep in and turn him into a tearful, angry, stroppy rageball lol - he's brilliant with Dottie though and will amuse her while I grab dinner/shower/a wee lol - I bet your older ones are great with the twins?? What are their names? I can imagine with Saul and River they've got to be gorgeous lol

Supposed to be going to the zoo today but I'm going to have to cancel as DD1 really isn't well. I think I might be going to the doctors instead.

I have been told my working days for my new job and they're not great. It will mean not being able to meet up with one set of friends as we will now all be working different days. Unless they'll be happy with a weekend meet. How would you guys feel about that? Most people seem to view weekends as family time, but I don't have that issue as DP works constantly odd hours. I would hate to lose them completely, they're a nice bunch and good friends for both me and DD1.

Mother reads the dm. I occasionally read it for the comedy value. Mother has called me on several occasions to tell me that by eating grapefruit I'm more likely to get cancer. Really mother. I work with cancer. A lot of the time people are just bloody unlucky. That was a poorly written title though if ever I've seen one!! Plus more hv tell you to go to a&e if the gp won't see you!!

My mum buys it on Tuesdays for the health section . i'm not quite sure how she isn't a hypochondriac, because everything causes or prevents cancer according to that rag. I hate it.

Seriously pr she reads it online which is even worse now!!! They've gone from having it on a sat and sun to her being able to read it daily!! I think she most reads it for the celeb stuff actually but I do get panicked phone calls off her. Anyway, she's not done that for a bit. Hopefully my message got through!!

The 13 yo is called Jacob and he is absolutely magnificent with the babies. He sounds just like your son- brilliant 99% of the time and suddenly a hormone bomb from out of nowhere! I can't fault him with the twins, he is naturally great with them. He has a very calm and peaceful demeanour that ingratiates him with animals too. My daughter couldn't be more different! She is called Taryn and just fizzes with mental energy, meaning all animals look panicked whenever she approaches! The babies were a bit with her when they were first born, but are now accustomed to her particular brand of fizziness I think. She tries very hard though, and cannot understand why babies and animals freak out with her when they don't with Jake. She is getting better though- 18 weeks of me repeating the same cautions, warnings and advice seem to be slowly penetrating! ("don't get up in their faces", "hold them firmly so they don't feel like you are going to drop them" etc etc) She is supersmart academically, just not an ounce of common sense in her body!

pr I was told by three separate doctors that if his breathing turned into distress to go straight there and they would blue light him in if needed or to dial 999 or just turn up. They said you do not mess with children's health ESP babies. So what does it matter if you got to a&e to be told all us ok? I'd rather that than the other!!

I am thankful for breast pumps so my boobs didn't explode this morning. And freezers so I can store the 4oz that poured out of one boob in a matter of minutes

detective my dads car was written off 2 years ago when someone else drove into it at a junction. His insurance went up, because apparently if your car has been hit, you are more likely to go on to have another accident because you become a more cautious driver. At least that was the bollocks they told him when he asked.

I struggle to feed LO when we're out anywhere now, as she's too nosy, constantly torn between wanting to see what's going on and wanting food, which results in a messy, fraught attempt at feeding, with her tangled in a muslin, and me getting more and more hot under the collar.

Forgot to say yesterday, LO has decided that Madonnas "like a virgin" is the best song going, and beams when you sing it. Unfortunately I only know the one line, and I sometimes most times sing it the Bridget Jones way (when she's in Thailand) - "like a wirgin, fucked for the vewy first tiiiiime, like a wer-er-er-ergin, oooooh"

Exactly horsey I get pissed off with people clogging up A&E because they've drunk too much, or because they have a sore finger or a cold (as adults) but children and babies in particular, no you can't be too careful.

Also, if you google newborn or baby fever pretty much all the advice says to get them seen immediately.
