horsey Yes, it is for law, although as things stand I am having real trouble trying to decide whether to go for the generic LLM, or the named LLM in business or international law. I have studied company law and can see great practical application for a masters in it, if I were to avoid the barrister route and perhaps go into Company Secretary work. I just love international law, even though it is a complete pain in the arse as half of it isn't written down. I studied that module and my dissertation is based in it too so it is probably the area of law that I am most knowledgeable in. Just difficult to envisage a practical application unless going to work for the UN or getting into shipping law, which I would LOVE cos I am a geek ThoughtI would just get the application in and worry about specifics later. There are only usually 8-12 people studying the legal masters at any point so it isn't difficult logistically to wiggle things around.

What is your masters in? I am sure you have told us at some point but I have forgotten Blush

Talking of A&E timewasters - here's one for the DM...

I was on the trauma team, got called to A&E as a 19 yr old girl was airlifted in after a car crash, having CPR, rushed in past the waiting room for all to see.
A&E sister an hour later was getting an earful from a charming gentleman right twat about why he hadn't been seen blah blah. So she took him to a room, asked what was the issue, and he showed her his finger which had a paper cut on it. The sister went out the room, returned with a plaster which she dutifully stuck over said cut. The punter looked at her and said "is that it?" to which she replied (I like to think with narrowed eyes) "yes. That is it. Now get out of my room and waste someone elses time"

It was a stressful day.

Pig the DM won't like that, it doesn't bash the NHS hard enough. A blogger picked up on the thread and on his blog mentions that the stats she is referring to come from a report done by... A private health insurance company. Oh so reliable then.

wellieboots

I'm using Zantac with Ds which is causing a bit of constipation but its keeping the reflux down. I don't give it every day - I find if I dose him for a day or two he doesn't need more for a few days.

When he is nicely doses up he's actually a pretty good sleeper. Not great with noise or distraction but will happily drop off if it's quiet. When he is needs dosing though his sleep is horrible and - like you - I have a grumpy baby who hates everyone.

Sorry if this is all obvious but for him it's about not laying flat for 15 odd minutes after a feed. So no feeding to sleep AT ALL. I have him right upright in his bouncer or the Tripp trap baby seat quite a bit too.

That probably doesn't actually help you does it Hmm. Sympathy though! Dd never, ever, ever slept.

Thursdays almost over. I'm thankful that I no longer live in China, especially when I see the photos of the pollution in Beijing. So much more too but I'm going to go have a glass of wine with dh as both dc are asleep.

Night all - enjoy Thursday!

Oooo I love like a virgin! is my song always used to be requested on a night out! - my bf's (yes I am 31 ) is like a prayer ... she ruined many a pair of tights -knees- dropping down to pray during the song!
re bedtime my dd is still not sleeping til 11.30-12 she sleeps til 6ish then goes back til 11.
I want to know more about how peeps have achieved early sleeps she seems sleepy at 5 but doesn't really nap more than 10mins.
every morn I think I should wake her early but I'm so tired I need more sleep too! and I don't have the balls to follow it through everyday! Sad

oh and re reflux I think.dd has it but sounds mild compared to others... what I do is feed her in bed before placing her down but I prop my knees up and sit her up on them... sometimes rock her back and forth and can then place her down to sleep as she doesn't usually wake.
I do it on the sofa too she stays asleep but usually wakes a few mins after being transferred to her chair.

That was what - 15 mins?

Ffs. Only long enough for me to half clean the kitchen.

Thanks cat goes off to google how the tune goes Grin

Comrade I used to find that with dd - if I gave gaviscon for a few days she could go without for a few days quite well too. She does seem to be growing out of her reflux at last, fc it carries on improving.

Contra the only way LO sleep through here is if she's awake most of the day. We get up at 8, and she'll only nap for maybe 30 mins in the morning, and 2 hours in the afternoon. It's worth maybe trying to get up a bit earlier for a few days? Bloody hard though, especially in the cold!

DS has just put his hand in his mouth whilst feeding!! Confused He allowed my nipple to fall out, then chewed his fingers for a bit, then latched on again. He's continuing the same as I type - on again, off again. Strange child.

I have just posted the following in the Good Housekeeping section but wonders of you guys had any ideas.

I can not believe it has come to this. I am not yet 40, quite, and I am posting in the Good Housekeeping section not the high flyer career a go go section. Hmm

I have a big big cream longish haired rug. A much loved member of the family.

Yesterday I decided to swizzle it round to spread the wear and the spot that had been between the coffee table and the sofa is now on full view in the middle of the room.

There is a big grubby patch of grub. I din't think it is anything specific just Grubbyness where DH Angry sits.

Has anyone any wisdom on how to freshen this area up and make it look less grubby?

BigPigLittlePig · 21/02/2013 09:39

Sophia not a clue. We have a similar rug with a similar affliction though from dhs dark socks rubbing for years by his sofa I'm sure so will keep an eye out for any bright ideas!

It's official I have a cold! all ready for when I go out on Saturday! Sad

On a scale of 1-10, how skanky is it to sponge off the baby sick from my sleeve (left arm, nr shoulder, missed muslin, in case any of that affects your decision Grin) and continue to wear the top? CBA to find something else to wear - only going to hairdresser later, so will get covered in hair anyway.

Interesting thread for DM haters :)

My parents used to get the DM. Then only got it at the w/end. Then only on a Sat for the TV guide (which is, to be fair, quite good. Shame about the paper.) I think my DM used to read it ironically, in so much as she had a huge pile of salt to pinch... She also preferred it because it was easier to read than the broadsheets, both for size (before compact b/s) & as a dyslexic. I think that's half the problem - most readers probably realise its shite but can't find an alternative. Red tops are too basic for real idiots and the broadsheets are either too 'worthy' or too hard to digest iyswim. I think there is a HUGE market for a balanced, readable newspaper to compete with the DM.

The Indie is excellent. The Times is much more emreader friendly than in the past though I hate its politics.

I am thankful for mums who come over to give LO lots of cuddles and my arms and back a rest!

I am thankful for strong coffee, radio 2 and comfy armchairs whilst a very snotty baby snoozes on me.

Mr bank manager he say yes! Grin As you were.

Wellie DS was an insomniac last night - didn't go to sleep until 11 little sod - he just wanted to hold my nipple, beam at me and chat. Otherwise at night he is very good. I don't think its anything we're doing though - I think it might just be sheer fluke - other than perhaps we do give him the chance to settle back down - I never pick him up on first murmur. During the day he is a consummate nap avoider, unless I put him in the buggy for a looooong walk (needs to be over an hour) or sit him semi upright in the crook of my arm and let him feed and doze. A side effect of omeperazole is insomnia - fecking hilarious no?!
