Mug full of red lentils, 3 mugs of water (4 in a casserole in the oven) tsp each curry powder, ginger, cinnamon, cumin, 2 cardamom pods. Slow cook/low oven for a few hours.

1 onion, 2 carrots, 2 parsnips, 1/2 tub mushrooms, 4 chicken thighs, clove of garlic, s+p, tin of toms, 1/2 pint stock. Again with the slow cooker/oven. Skip the chicken if wanted.

Songs we do:
*Wheels on the bus - move arms round for wheels, side to side for wipers, out and in for doors, tap tummy for the horn, tap nose for the bell
*Head, shoulders, knees and toes in both English and French
*The Grand Old Duke Of York - lift baby as appropriate
*If You're Happy And You Know It - he grasps my thumbs and we do clap, touch head, touch toes, all three
*Row Your Boat - he holds my thumbs and i gently pull him up then back
*Ring Of Roses - hold him standing, circle for the ring lines, up for atishoo, sit down on Down

Usually while I'm slumped on the sofa or in bed and he's propped up on my knees!

ValiumQueen · 22/02/2013 18:23

This is no ordinary thread, this is a PR thread (like M&S)

ValiumQueen · 22/02/2013 18:23

Or quiche

ValiumQueen · 22/02/2013 18:26

We do row row row the boat, and the girls scream very loudly. We obviously do not laugh when J jumps out of his skin, but he does!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2013 18:28

We do all Pidj does, plus Nelliethe Elephant whereby DD1 and I g round pretending we are elephants and LO sits there laughing taking the piss

ChunkyChicken · 22/02/2013 18:41

Humpty dumpty with baby "falling" off the wall.

Twinkle twinkle with hands as twinkling stars, then pointing to the sky, describing a world shape, then forming a diamond, then back to twinkles.

Wind the bobbin up. You'd need to look that one up...

5 little ducks went swimming one day. Actions for 5 (4, 3, 2, 1), swimming, hills & far away, quacking.

5 little speckled frogs.(no actions)

5 little monkeys jumping on the bed.

And various other silly songs Blush

fruitpastilles · 22/02/2013 18:45

I feel sorry for S now, all she gets is me singing wailing at her!
Off to google songs with actions now!

ValiumQueen · 22/02/2013 18:48

Not sure PR should do Humpty Dumpty Grin

TheDetective · 22/02/2013 18:51

It doesn't have to be all singing all dancing fruit! I do roughly what pidj does!

I'll link to what I am going to order for O when I have £! once on the laptop! Currently cradling the little sucker! He's chomping and sucking away on his hands fingers and muslin!

Am wondering if we could get away with dinner now.

No. Probably not. Hmm

ChunkyChicken · 22/02/2013 18:52

How many verses of row row do you do VQ?

I have discovered you can make it last 5.
*Normal.
*Stream - crocodile - scream.
*River - polar bear - shiver.
*Back to shore - lion - roar.
*Rock the boat, gently to & fro, wibble wobble, over the side you go!!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2013 18:52

Oi VQ I heard that :)

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/02/2013 18:52

Hi, thanks all for thinking of me. The consultant was pleased with E's progress so didn't want to move forward with submitting us into hospital just yet. I told him about the sns and he'd never heard of one and was impressed. I had no joy with it last night though. I had trouble getting her to wake up properly to suck and I started to get stressed so the combination just wasn't good. I won't be doing it at night again as I got very little sleep and I think she actually ended up feeding less than normal. We are back on Wednesday for another check so the saga continues. We've got a quiet time between now and then though so I can concentrate on using the sns as much as possible during the day.

In other news, DD1 has been dry since may last year and using toilets without any issues. She now refuses to get on toilets for fear of falling in them. She must have had an incident of slipping into the toilet when i wasn't around. It's got so bad that yesterday she wet herself 3 times at my mums (we don't go there very often so it's not a familiar toilet) and when we got in today she couldn't find her potty so she shat herself. I have to say that I did lose my temper with her when she did that as she has a toilet trainer seat which she normally uses without any issues. Not my finest hour! In my defence I have been very stressed this week. Might have to post in potty training forum as nothing I am doing is working.

God my posts have been depressing of late. DH back tonight thank god and then the in laws on Sunday. How single parents and or people without a support network cope I'll never know. MN has been a lifeline for me too. I'm very lucky.

I'm starving...off to raid the chocolate cupboard.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2013 18:55

Great news!!! Don't worry aout dd1, she'll forget very quickly. W all lose our temper from time to time.

ChunkyChicken · 22/02/2013 18:56

And ha ha VQ.

fruit I couldn't remember any when DD was born (hence singing a made-up song to the winnie the pooh theme, as couldn't even remember words to that - mentioned on a previous thread). But going to Rhyme Time at the local library or Moving & Grooving at the local Sure Start Childrens centre soon solved that Wink

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 22/02/2013 18:59

Wind the bobbin up is the number one nursery rhyme in this house. It used to be Row the Boat until DD wanted to "row" DS enthusiastically.

Busy day here after crap night last night, DS has apparently conked out, DH is battling DD to sleep, so I am thinking of going to bed at 7pm Blush

Brockle · 22/02/2013 19:04

I love dingle dangle scarecrow chunky Smile we like sleeping bunnies but row row is prob Y's favourite. he also likes doggy in the window.

fruitpastilles · 22/02/2013 19:09

We are starting at jo jingles next week chunky I'm hoping I'll learn some there, they do all singing things I believe. I think I'll enjoy it more than S.

TheDetective · 22/02/2013 19:19

Yes. You probably will fruit Grin

My favourite verse of row row row the boat, is...

If you see your daddies bum don't forget to scream.

Grin

Eliza that is great news!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 22/02/2013 19:20

PR just read that thread and you were marvellous!!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/02/2013 19:24

Thank you can we just forget it now please Blush

Passmethecrisps · 22/02/2013 19:25

I am rubbish at remembering these songs. I make them up - earlier I was singing "giraffes are delicious, gifarres are nutritious" over and over again in a sort of soprano stylee. She is a fan of that tune from a bank advert - it is just a high pitched voice rather than singing. She was proper big eyed at that when I sung it.

We were are baby sensory today but I end up giggling at how rubbish I am at singing and doing the actions.

I think it's a good idea to not use the system at night eliza. Ridiculous as it sounds try to stay relaxed when feeding as she will take her cue from you. I am really pleased that the consultant doesn't feel the need for her to be admitted.

I used to work in a food factory BTW. I can categorically state that we never used horse there might have been boggies and other nasties but never horse

Passmethecrisps · 22/02/2013 19:26

No PR! No we cannot because we are shining in your reflected glory.

It was a very funny summary of the thread. I like how the commenter at the bottom who said the MN was full of bullies got put right.

blonderedhead · 22/02/2013 19:27

Chunky I often think of your Winnie the Pooh song. I sing a version of What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor but change it to Silly Mummy and the verses are things like 'do a big poo and make her clean it' and similar.

Eliza that is good news. I really hope you have success with the sns. I think at night just keep things simple, I don't do a top up at night for the same reason. You don't need any more stress!

Sophiathecheesefairy · 22/02/2013 19:46

Oooo chunkster

I think you have missed

Creak - mouse- squeak

DS1 loves the Monkey's bouncingon the bed

Also Tommy thumb, remember that?! Grin

ChunkyChicken · 22/02/2013 20:19

D'oh! Sophia shall add to my "repertoire" Grin

blonder Blush love the drunken sailor thing. :)

Eliza glad DD is making progress & agree with pass. Day time use is prob enough - use night time for quick feeds back to sleep bonding & skin to skin cuddles :)
