After being chilled all day, N decided that he was going to go on a cluster feeding marathon just as DS1 decided to start epic pestering to make pancakes NOW. Sorted that all out, got DS1 to bed, more cluster feeding, N finally asleep only for DS1 to randomly decide to wake up and need mummy rather than daddy to settle him. Got a feeling it's going to be a long night.....

utopian99 · 13/02/2013 00:19

O has had an early evening of screaming or nipple, resulting in dh and dm making pancakes together and taking turns to feed me Hmm. Actually worked out alright as I had pancakes made for me to order, hooray!

Does anyone else sometimes find that one boob elicits rage and one is fine? Was trying to feed him on the left as it was that turn, which caused huge angst, funny gulping, nipple faffing and upset. Tried rocking, nappy change etc then just tried him on the other side and all miraculously fine?!

Secondsop · 13/02/2013 01:16

utopian I'm not exclusively breastfeeding but I definitely find that the right boob is an instant happy latch whilst the left is often the subject of a great deal of fussing, pecking, headshaking and crying, including the thing when they cry whilst the nipple is right there in the mouth.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/02/2013 01:21

Utopian ds does this but with either side depending on what mood he's in Hmm I just rugby ball him

Howdy y'all, all of you who are up anyway! We had a good day but I'm trying to figure out how the change in routines it's effecting Yunior. He's at home with his Dad one day work with me and the days at home with both of us. He doesn't seem to do much but sleep with Dad so that night he's awake and wants boob all night. at work he's awake (probably cause of the activity)and seems to sleep ok.he's napping now before dinner. The weekends are fine so far. Does anyone else have this much change in schedule? Confusing because of phone!
On phone sorry if it's a bit

monsterchild · 13/02/2013 02:40

We are at the office three days and have three days at home.

PurplePidjin · 13/02/2013 03:09

No, but we've calpolled him up and put teatree on a teddy next to him. Sleeping is currently in half hour bursts!

Monster, we have sod all daytime routine depending on who has what appointments where, but at 12 weeks he's just settling into having a mammoth lunchtime sleep with am and pm catnaps. Sometimes Hmm

SeymoreInOz · 13/02/2013 03:23

Snap pidj DS is v snotty with his first cold, which explains Monday night's awful sleep. Calpol has cheered him up a bit.

MaMaPo · 13/02/2013 03:31

Ooh pidj, I hope we develop a mammoth daytime sleep at some point! We did have one yesterday as swimming exhausted her, and then she didn't settle until midnight, so if I could order a daytime nap with 7.30pm bedtime that would be grand.

Chloe55 · 13/02/2013 04:02

Have had a very sleepy baby tonight, only woken once so far for feeding, I on the otherhand have woken multiple times wondering why she's still sleeping?! Hmm GO TO SLEEP you crazy woman!

EggsMichelle · 13/02/2013 05:05

Oh PidjChick, hope the calpol kicks in soon. I thought we had the start of a cold coming on, but didn't appear to amount to anything.

I'm not sure what we did yesterday, but it must have exhausted F, he slept 6hrs then 2.5hrs. He has been waking at 6.30 every morning, but hopefully he will sleep a little longer and I can have a mini lay in. Church toddler group this morning, haven't the heart to tell them I am pagan!

IsThatTrue · 13/02/2013 05:20

Sorry some of you have had bad nights.ds2 woke at 5am, after going down at 11 Shock I feel great atm! this is not just a one off and long may it continue That does mean that I woke having soaked the bed though, but only from the left. Anyone else have 1 more active boob than the other?!

Oh and ds2 is FAR more likely to fuss over the right than the left. What's all that about?

utopian99 · 13/02/2013 06:35

isthat i think of my left as the more overactive of the two, all a bit odd this bf lark!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/02/2013 07:09

Ds was awake from 1-3 very annoying, and obviously up every two hours around that.

PurplePidjin · 13/02/2013 07:33

We got 8:30-midnight then hourly from then. And only on one of us to keep his head up. Dp did the last two so I've had a couple of naps at least

IsThatTrue · 13/02/2013 07:51

Oh spotty one day DS will surprise you!

Well ds2 wouldn't go back in his crib after feeding at 5 but I can't complain. I just let him sleep on my chest from then. He only woke when I had to put him down so I could do the big kids breakfast maybe I'm more tired than I thought I just wrote dinner there and had to delete it Hmm I got back up to him fidgetting and he's now fed and relieved my right boob too. A few more nights like this are on order.

utopian it is all a bit odd isn't it!

MaMaPo · 13/02/2013 07:53

We were up and down lots before midnight, woken by her at 12.30am though he settled, then up at 3, 5.30 and 7. Annoying as she kept falling asleep after 5-10 mins, absolutely would not take any more. I know she can go longer than that!

Feel a bit like death warmed up today. Does anyone else get morning headaches from sleep deprivation? It's my indicator of a particularly shit night.

For those who use sleeping bags, do you put another layer over their arms, or cover their hands?

WLmum · 13/02/2013 08:03

Dd2 still poorly - been up since 4 alternating between her and baby T. Also think I heard a noise like a mouse in the wall Sad.

My left boob is def more productive than the right, dd3 doesn't seem bothered just now but dd2 used to really fuss.

Baby colds suck.

WLmum · 13/02/2013 08:08

I always offer right boob first as I think if I didn't it would dry up and I'd end up only feeding off the left

IsThatTrue · 13/02/2013 08:24

WL ds2 is in a sleeping bag. He has a vest and sleep suit on. If the sleep suit has mitts I fold them over. But he sleeps on his tummy so I can't cover his arms really. It's 19-21 degrees in our room according to the monitor.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/02/2013 08:26

Mamapo you're not supposed to use anything over a sleeping bag but if you're worried you can get sleeping bags with arms but they're £££

Running late this morning and dd has had two bad nappies now ds has done a massive poo too as I'm feeding him and I need to be out the door in four minutes argh

IsThatTrue · 13/02/2013 08:26

Oh and i alternate what boob I start on. And keep feeding off that for 2 hrs ish. Unless he gets really fussy on it which means its not coming quick enough for him, then I switch.
