Ooh I have just read back up the thread - hello brixtonites past and present!! I lived there for 10 years and loved it. Now I am over the hill (literally and metaphorically) in Balham/streatham hill. Still love Brixton. And south London generally!

PurplePidjin · 31/01/2013 03:26

Why does he have to pick tonight? 2 3/4 then 1 1/4 hours of sleep. Minus the time it takes for me to drop off. I absolutely have to impress this head tomorrow or it's going to be a very hungry year Sad

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 03:28

My sick boy has just slept 4 hours which is really really good. Well done my darling. I slept most of that and so far have not been up to the others either. That is more sleep than I have had for the last three nights put together. I do hope that means they are beginning to get better.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 03:46

Waves sleepily at rox

PP I do hope you both get some sleep tonight. R is not doing it on purpose. The other night when J had his best sleep I had my worst night and I thought how bloody unfair. Sod the law of sod!

J is very snotty but did not seem at all distressed during this fairly brief feed. He came off boob naturally and I winded him but he did not really waken so quite dream feed like, except he woke me. He could have probably self settled but I wanted to check he was ok. Am pretty sure I will be up to him very soon. Seems too good to be true.

He had a bit of a cough but certainly does not have an obvious fever, and did not appear to be in pain.

This is one of the worst sickness periods I have known with my kids, both for severity and longevity. Chicken pox was worse, but thankfully they did not get it at the same time. I am so glad I am off work. I hate having to decide whether to stay home with them or not. That is one of the worst bits of being a working parent.

PurplePidjin · 31/01/2013 03:59

I know, he's probably just picking up my tension, I'm just used to 5-6 hours uninterrupted from him so it's a shock to the system when he keeps me up. Dp is also awake which concerns me as he needs sleep to heal Sad

Yay for yours, i hope this is a sign of things to come for you Thanks

KatieLily12 · 31/01/2013 04:02

dixie try a more reclined position for feeding and see how LO is. Lean yourself back and if you can, lay them a bit more upright along you. That's how I feed miss.

zcos I have a moby and its my preferred sling. There are better stretchy ones out there which are easier to pull about once tied. The moby is a lot firmer so isn't v forgiving if you tie it on too tight etc. is there a sling library near you?

KatieLily12 · 31/01/2013 04:12

Ooooo furious fancy showing a girl around?

pennie let's try a meetup. HandI isn't too bad actually. Euphorium has a baby change. blonder are you in?

Quite exciting stuff!

Sleepy vibes to all the unsettled babes (& mums). A smack over the head with a frying pan for naughty DPs.

kirrinIsland · 31/01/2013 04:17

Glad j has has a good sleep VQ - should make all the difference to both of you.

pidj what time is your interview. I expect once you are up and about you'll feel ok, the adrenalin for the interview will keep you going. Good luck.

N fell asleep on me downstairs at half tenish And I put her into her Moses basket, expecting her to wake instantly - she didn't! She's just woken now - that is by far the best sleep she's had since she threw in a random 12-6 at five weeks! Please please keep doing that!

I too get annoyed at the assumption that I will be here looking after the children. DP is pretty bloody good really, but it grates that he can just do whatever whenever whilst I have to essentially arrange it with him if I want to go to the dentist or something equally dull. This evening, he'd just got out of the bath, so I went to hand N to him so I could go for one myself, and he asked me "are you going to have a bath every night?!" Shock I asked him was he? He did have the grace to look embarrassed.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 04:33

I got an hour. Could be better, could be worse. Snuffly nose woke him it seems as having a sleepy feed. I will let him off. Was having a weird dream so quite glad to be woken from it actually.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 04:44

I am quite glad DH has been ill, not in a bitchy way, but because he has seen a bit of what it is like caring for three on your own. He has been stuck in his chair at times just watching me cope as he has not been able to get up and disappear or indeed help. I think he realises what a lucky man he is.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 04:55

DH just asked me how my night was going but fell asleep before I had finished telling him. And I was fairly brief. It is the thought that counts.

CandyPop · 31/01/2013 04:56

Haha I've caught up and I'm back. Completely missed the last thread but thought I'd try keep up with this one . Only Woking at the mo as LO gone back to 3-4 hourly feed after 5-6 stints during night (growth spurt?!?! )

Brag: bedtime routine seems to be set, been keeping to a similar routine for 2 weeks now and it seems to be working! She also sleeps well in cot at night without much fuss on transfer. Also me and bubba manage to get out most days. Beginning to really enjoy motherhood as we're meeting more new friends through baby group etc. my diary is getting filled out and I hardly have any free days during the week(I get bored easily and cabin fever sets in pretty fast with me!). it does however mean I'm spending a fortune on lunches out and coffee :/ and it also means it makes it even harder and near impossible to keep up with this thread!

Vent:. My belly is still very wobbly and wrinkly :(

Chat: For those experiencing green poo.... My LO had green poo for 5 days a week ago. I phoned gp at the time and he wasn't too concerned as she was feeding well and generally herself. He just said watch out for blood in stool which would indicate an infection . It slowly went back to yellow poo after 5 days. I believe now that her green poo was caused by her cold. She had a very snotty bogey-fied nose during that time and we had given her a few doses of calpol as the cold wasn't shifting.

StuntNun · 31/01/2013 05:05

six and a half hours sleep. Woohoo! I was so tired last night I was very grumpy and short with the boys, I had to keep apologising to them. The last three nights J has only woken once but six and a half consecutive hours is a new record. I'm glad I went to bed straight after his 10 o'clock feed.

We made 6am... Come on the baby!

kirrinIsland · 31/01/2013 06:09

Yay stunt Thats brilliant :)

Sorry VQ but Grin at your DH. I expect you were tempted to hit him over the head with a pillow.

Glad you're doing ok candy. It is really hard to keep up with this thread, I only manage it cos i don't get out enough!

wellieboots · 31/01/2013 06:34

Sydney meetup comrade?! tell me more!

Bryzoan · 31/01/2013 06:43

vq sorry to hear all your lot are still ill. Sounds like j has been protected from the worst of it thank goodness.

chunky I think I would have said that the superbowl / late in Monday was a great idea - that way he'd be up to deal with any wakening Sunday night and you could nip out by yourself for a bit monday morning while he has the kids if he is in late anyway. It's not like looking after the kids is any work after all... Kirin I am amazed at the nerve of the bath comment. Wierdly my dh was like this when dd1 was born but is much better why. No idea why unless me complaining about it for the last 2 years finally sunk in.

slings I have a Kari-me. I love it but would choose a less stretchy one if shopping again. Need to tie it v tightly for good positioning and sometimes re tie if he's in it a long time. Katie I just keep him in vest, sleepsuit and sometimes a thin hat outside, and use a cover over the top. Temp feels better regulated that way - and easier to adjust layers. I have hoppediz 3 in 1 cover and am a bit in love with it. Only drawback to it has no hood which is a pain. I guard his head with my coat and arms in heavy rain.
www.amazon.co.uk/Hoppediz-Fleece-Babywearing-Cover-Waterproof/dp/B004D92AWK/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt got it cheaper than this from a site called b2b boutique but can't link to that one as it crashes my phone for some reason.

gt I was feeding dd1 upstairs at mil house on her first Christmas - on phone to my folks saying how much I missed them and how crap and boring the il Christmas was compared to ours at home (it was the first - and last - time I wasn't seeing my lot for Christmas or boxing day and I was sad about it). No baby monitor but didn't realise everyone could here me downstairs. Disasterous. Took a big grovel and a bit of time to get over that one.

Loving all the Brixton / London talk. I used to be mainly east but had some time west and south. Very fond memories of escape from Samsara at the fridge and pendragon nights in dalston.

TheDetective · 31/01/2013 07:06

Grrr. 6.30. Better than 5. Be grateful.

What DP doesn't know yet is that when the baby next wakes, he's getting up and I am staying the fuck in bed. Til 11. So ha. Im shattered!

Going to have Oscar weighed today. He is so so so long it's unreal. Feet are at the end of the car seat Hmm. I suspect most of his weight is in his head. It's looking huge these days!

TheDetective · 31/01/2013 07:10

I think this is going to be another 3oz job... Why?!

TheDetective · 31/01/2013 07:13

Another thing I've noticed lately. I can't hold in a fart. They just sneak up on me and escape Confused. Suspect that can be added to the list of 'things wot avin' a baybee broked'.

I need a fanjo/arse transplant.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 07:38

detective I think O is exhibiting growth spurt behaviour. I typed a reply to your above comments about your lack of sleep, but I deleted it for fear of causing offence. I hope you enjoy your lay-in.

I am extremely grateful that I was not up to the girls at all last night. J woke frequently after his 4 hour stretch, but he is ill and did not want to be awake either.

TheDetective · 31/01/2013 07:42

I like sleep Blush. Oscar is damn lucky I like him more Wink.

Am wide awake now. DPs alarm is going off. DP is snoring. Shall I kick him?!

Btw, both basket transfers completely successful. I don't get why DP can't manage it?! Confused

ChunkyChicken · 31/01/2013 07:54

I had that detective after DD. I walked around like a jet-propelled old lady!! It went away as my pelvic floor got better.

I didn't do the dream feed before bed, but he woke anyway! So it was pretty rubbish for my sleep, but he was good as gold, fed quickly and self-settled in his cot at 12am & 4am. Then didn't wake until after 7am, so not too terrible. Now however he's fussing around, on & off my boob and barely drinking, despite getting my let-down going!! Hmm

bryzoan didn't think of that, & would love to!! Just that would mean me sorting out bottles of ebm etc etc. He was so good after DD was born but his behaviour this time has really hurt me. He seems to be totally disengaged & because I 'seem to be coping' leaving me to it. Shock

horseylady · 31/01/2013 07:56

Vq - a screw?! What's that?!

Thing is, unless I'm looking for someone, I'll not really know their there! I'll just assume their a member of the public, if that makes sense. I often see the local team football manager and players, but their just going out their business and half the time it's a few hours later I realise that my dog has just jumped on them :) in fact I think my two dogs are quite famous!! Better night here!!

Stunt - yay!! Brill sleep news.

Det - growth spurt or cold?! Ds snacks when poorly.

We had another roll this morning. He looked very happy with himself. I had thought it was a one off but apparently not!!

I have the Kari me. I like it, but now he's bigger I need something more sturdy. He keeps pushing on me snd trying to wriggle out. Fine for round the house but out walking it's hurting my back. Currently looking at the ergo. Have borrowed a bjorn but I dont think it's very comfy for him.

Thechick · 31/01/2013 07:58

Still catching up.
I'm so gutted that I missed out in the Brixton conversation. I'm a bit further out in west Norwood. My dh used used to live in Brixton. Yes, I've had many a good night there too, in my younger days, but im there all the time for shopping ir cinema or food. And I love the Lambeth country show, it's the highlight of my year, yup sad I know!!
So Katie did you have your little one at Kings? Did you find it okay?
VQ we have a small syringe and put LO's medicine directly in his mouth. It seems to work okay. We got the syringe from the hospital though, and its tiny, perfect for his little mouth.
I have a wwyd. I need to be away from LO for about 3 hours in a couple of weeks and he is ebf and I want to leave a bottle. I feel I have exactly the right amount of milk every day, no over supply and I'm scared that if I start expressing that will take away milk from the day. I could take extra fenugreek but in the past if I've taken too much it's resulted in blocked painful ducts or I can give him formula.
