I will definitely enjoy the lecture cos I am a nerd and I luffs advanced wills and probate I just don't want to come back to DH pulling that face. You know the one- exasperated, confused, accusatory and sad, all and the same time :/

In other news, the MN competition prize that I won (for all the OXO Tot weaning stuff plus sprout chair) has been delivered. I'll post a pic later. Oh, and VQ, I took your advice... we are now up to £112 on a well-known auction website ;)

Clarella · 28/01/2013 08:44

thanks bigpig and stunt - it is reassuring and thanks for the advice - you're right its disproportionate plus I suddenly feel it's my fault. however it's amazing how babies are evolutionarily programmed to throw out a million smiles just when you've had enough. Grin

Jims · 28/01/2013 08:46

Hello. Sporadic lurker and poster here. Especially when this thread moves so fast!

chunky my EBF son was happily going from a dream feed at 10:30ish to 5/6am when he was 9 weeks old. Then he hit 10.5 weeks and was up in the night again and really fussy in the day. I was a bit at a loss to explain it as it didn't seem to fit in any normal growth spurt fussy phases but when he got to 11 weeks he stopped again and last night went to 6.45 before waking up - hurrah! Now I'm just waiting for the 12 week growth spurt, unless that was it early?!

I've got a reflux-y baby too. I tried gaviscon with DS1 and it was such a hassle I gave up and just did a lot of washing. This time I'm just going with a lot of washing as I don't think it's affecting his weight. My husband thinks it's not as bad this time but I disagree. The boy can sick anytime after his feed until the next one, the later sicks are just cheesier and smell horribly cheesy! Plus you can hear him swallowing it back down again and again. He is a bit bothered by it but not so much that I am going to ask for medication as theoretically 4 months is when it starts to get better. Although it took my last one until about 9 months before things stayed down more consistently.

Daytime naps are a bit hit and miss but we're managing to get him down for 7.30pmish and then with a dreamfeed, has done until 6ish for a few nights in a row. We're doing bath, feed, story, bed with a lot of shushing.

The swaddling debate was quite interesting. I've had two big boys (11.11 and 10.9) and both have slept better whilst swaddled. This time round, F struggled and so I didn't bother for the first 7 weeks or so but when we tried putting him down upstairs in a quiet room rather than just on his bouncer with us in the evening, swaddling definitely helped him to go to sleep and stay asleep. He'd just smack himself in the face otherwise. My Mum had made me big thin blankets the first time round so we use those. Putting him upstairs also put an end to cluster feeding in the evenings as I think he was just unsettled in the bright lights and I thought he was hungry but he was just finding it hard to sleep. At least, that's my best guess.

Bf is going better now but we're still struggling with thrush I think. I still have symptoms so am continuing to use the cream to keep it at bay. I'm going to go to a BF clinic on Thursday which is highly recommended but a bit further away than the ones round here. F is taking daily antibiotics now as he's been hospitalised twice for IV antibiotics for urine infections plus he washes away any oral medication with his sickiness. I've found nystatin more useful than the gel, but I can't say why. Fortunately his first X-ray kidney test and ultrasound came back clear of problems but it does still leave it all a bit of a mystery why he's been ill twice. Just waiting for our outpatient appointment with the urologist now. Glad I hung on with BF despite spending days attached to the pump in hospital when he just fell asleep on me but took a bottle.

I was happy to see babies sounding like they are more settled after the 12 week spurt - although I'm trying not to wish his life away, I am looking forward to having a bit more predictable days!

Clarella · 28/01/2013 08:47

Have just skimmed the reassurance and advice stunt & BPLP gave you Clarella but don't despair - it isn't your fault. It's madness that we feel guilty when we have a lack of supply or an over supply!! As Stunt said, try block nursing and expressing a little off before he feeds, or get him latched on, then take him off and put a bundled up muslin on your breast, applying a little pressure. It should collect the excess and slow the flow so he can feed at a more comfortable pace. If he's having trouble latching on properly because you're so full, try 'reverse pressure softening'. Please don't give up before you've tried these things (unless you really really hate it and its a considered decision and not due to guilt) as it really, really does get easier!!

ChunkyChicken · 28/01/2013 09:09

jims & PL odd that its happened to us all!! My DS is doing a bit of the boob banging, but I've kind of put that down to being fed up/slower flow, because he hasn't been an absolute boob demon, plus the cold made me think it was that. I'm going to take a look at KellyMom because she talks about growth spurts...

Oh and another thought Clarella if you leak a lot due to your over-supply, try breast shells. You could use them to collect a couple of ounces a day rather than expressing, and use them instead of a muslin or expressing some off before hand.

ProlificWillyBreeder · 28/01/2013 09:14

Morning, can I join you please? I have dipped in and out and lurked before as life just got in blinking way!
I have 3 DS' number 3, H is 10 weeks old... I'm not doing tummy time yet...I should be shouldn't I? Tummy time already noooo they are way more dangerous once they start moving!
Moved H over to a Gro bag now seems be ok, we've just started clearing out his room because DH is so slow H will be 6 months by the time it's finished.
Just me and H today so should clean the zoo house and make phone calls but sitting down is such a luxury Grin
Hope all are ok.

ProlificWillyBreeder · 28/01/2013 09:16

Oh, question: if you are bottle feeding how many ounces are they taking at 10 weeks? H has 5 and 6 at night, he is a loosely based GF baby in terms of dream feed. All 3 of mine follow the same kind of routine...my eldest is 2 and a half...I'll let you ponder my age gaps haha!

horseylady · 28/01/2013 09:20

His hands, my hands. Look at them, eat them!!

Dh messed up feeding yesterday so he woke twice in the night. Will get back on track over the next few days. 2nd jabs today which will mean it goes wrong anyway!

Today is not the 29th. For weeks I've thought today was the 29th. Anyway it's not. Thankfully the tenants were up and said they were confused at my Monday 29th so blocked both days out..... Whoops!!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/01/2013 09:27

Welcome ProlificWillyBreeder with three boys under three I understand your username Grin

LO was on about 20oz a day at ten weeks. i'm not sure how much she weighed, 5kg rings a bell. I'm fairly sure she rarely finished her 20oz too.

gardenpixies32 · 28/01/2013 09:28

Had a nice day out in Bristol with the girls yesterday. Got 2 Grobags from TK Maxx for 12.99 each. I needed the next size up, 6-18 months. Decided on 2.5 tog in the end as I can just reduce their clothing in the warmer weather. May get a very light, sheet type sleeping bag for the hot summer months days.

Girls are 4 months old tomorrow! Time for more vaccinations just as they are so settled and sleeping well again.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/01/2013 09:29

I'm about to start selling stuff on ebay. Starting with newborn outfits received as gifts that I just never got round to dressing either DD in. LO has only ever worn pjs and vest since she was born Apart from when she goes out I add a coat. The outfits are very cute but I am very lazy. Shall enjoy selling them.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/01/2013 09:29

Is it vaccination week? We have ours on Thursday too.

ValiumQueen · 28/01/2013 09:30

PWB three under 2.5?

cat they will survive. Make sure you enjoy it x

Both girls off sick today. J is getting snotty and woke quite frequently last night unfortunately. I feel awful, and DH is at work. We thought the TV was broken, but thank fuck it is working now. That would make everything worse.

I am so grumpy. DD1 just said I was the best mummy in the world after I had been telling her off, and I told her off for taking the mick. I apologised. Still, it is important that kids know their parents are human.

I cannot recall who is having trouble with bf (clarella?) but just want to say it does get better. It really does. My boy would not take formula, which I am actually grateful for in an odd way, but I was soo close to stopping on so many times. It can be absolutely horrid, and all the guilt etc that goes with it- I am so glad I am past that.

I have flu at the moment, but am managing to feed him, even though I ate nothing yesterday. The body is a clever thing. Hopefully it will prevent him having it too bad. I am struggling to lift him and wind him though. I feel like I am being stabbed all over.

ValiumQueen · 28/01/2013 09:31

Cat And good news about the auction Grin I still think of bad twin sitting on the floor. How are the bumbos going down?

PetiteRaleuse · 28/01/2013 09:33

VQ I hope you feel better soon, that sounds horrible :(

daisychain76 · 28/01/2013 09:34

Hi prolific. Great name Smile

My HV told me hands in mouth and dribbling were just a developmental stage, nothing to do with teething, but H is clearly trying to chew on one part of his gum and is v unsettled so l?m sure he is.

Catbag l think l?ve might have found a legal kindred. spirit! I love all the ?dry? subjects esp contract tho feel l?ve forgotten it all in the last 4 months just spent 30mins trying to remember the names Hadley and Baxendale

ValiumQueen · 28/01/2013 09:36

I have 14 boxes of baby and toddler clothes to sell. They are pretty much sorted into gender and age. I also have small nappies to go. When I thought about doing this after DD2 I felt really sad. Now I am really pleased.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 28/01/2013 09:37

Hi clarella, we we're having the same problems last week. I have massive oversupply and fast let down. I started feeding from one side only per feed then swapping to the other side for the next feed, this reduced supply. I also started pumping a few ounces off before feeding, I found that in the morning I could express 4oz and still feed from the same side! Throughout the day I just express less and less until my boobs are a normal size and not over full. This has really helped me, we have much less vomiting and green poos now. I don't need to pump as much now, it seems to have regulated my supply.

ValiumQueen · 28/01/2013 09:38

pass I would love to galavant, but trust me, you do not want this germ!

ValiumQueen · 28/01/2013 09:40

Thank you PR I have had better days.

TheDetective · 28/01/2013 09:42

Morning!

Why is it that these babies just like to tear the rulebooks that I haven't bought or read! up?! I was dithering over doing a dream feed last night, because he went to sleep on 1 bloody oz at 9pm. He slept til 5. What the actual....?! Seriously? Anyway, he fed quickly at 5, and straight back down. He woke when my alarm woke him at 8, and I left at 8.30 for school, and as far as I know, both him and DP are snoozing again upstairs. Hmm

Poor sods, I'm going to have to wake them pretty soon, as I need to get showered and dressed for baby group!

We are going to Ikea this afternoon please let my fanjo hold out for the epic walk around any orders ladies?! I'm getting (hopefully!) a desk and chair for DS for his birthday poor bastard but its okay, as he has the computer to go on it Wink. We got one second hand off a relative for him, he will be over the moon with it! We will then be a family of 2 computers and a laptop. Seems a lot... oh well!

Will take a trip to Mothercare and Toys R Us for a browse as they are all by our Ikea. Must take painkillers with me! (Forgot last time, and was in utter agony!)

Have a nice day - catch you all tonight!

TheDetective · 28/01/2013 09:43

VQ How about a car boot for the baby clothes?

I'm only putting expensive items on eBay.

I've sold 7 items on facebook for far more than I have sold on eBay. Sod eBay!

TheDetective · 28/01/2013 09:50

I just told someone to fuck off on another thread Blush.

If I don't come back... I've been excommunicated!!!!

Oh well, it was worth it. Stuck up sanctimonious bitches some people are...!
