Fx then pidj

Got lost again Blush

The good news -
Pheebs is sleeping 10ish-6ish
Lots of smiles half giggles and squishy cuddles
My sex drive left after dd1 for around 2 years (never returned if I'm honest) but it has come back??? DH quite pleased.

Bad news -
I'm on my first period in almost a year. I read a comment on American site about first period after childbirth being 'grody' and it is certainly true although I'm not really sure what it means.
We don't get a 6 week check anymore???? What is that all about?
They gave me the wrong date or our 6 week check (which they actually booked in at 8 weeks) and I haven't seen a health visitor. Considering I had pnd last time is worrying.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 19:24

Anyone whose baby sleeps longer than three hours is not my friend, sorry Strawb Wink

StrawberrytallCAKE · 31/01/2013 19:40

I am sorry Spotty I realise this may make me extremely unpopular but I did pop out a 10lber and unsure whether the lady bits will ever be normal again....does that help? I probably didn't pop her out actually...how many people really pop a baby out?

I am more surprised than anyone else about the sleeping. Dd1 refused to sleep for weeks and weeks at all during the night, she totally broke me and I was dreading the newborn phase. Phoebe looks exactly the same as her sister did but is so different. I am ff so that probably makes a big difference.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 19:44

Tbf I was due a bad sleeper dd was really good, she was ff though..

I've got a bleeding tooth Sad I'm so scared of the dentist stupid pregnancy ruining my teeth!

HoneyMumandSon · 31/01/2013 19:56

Can't remember if I said this but DHs boss reckons they sleep longer once they're over 11lb

I've just signed up to do a charity zipline off the Tyne Bridge in may to raise money for Scbu where D was. I must be insane.

Kafri · 31/01/2013 20:08

Dec has started sleeping better this last week or so and he was 10lb 11 last Tuesday so has prob got above that 11lb mark now. Will find out to tomorrow. Never heard that before Honey.

Good luck with the zip wire thing. I did an abseil off a local building for the cystic fibrosis trust and that was bad enough for me!

Clarella · 31/01/2013 20:09

lol honey I'll come and laugh watch!

WLmum · 31/01/2013 20:17

Dd is well over 11lbs, prob closer to 12 and sleep is ok but not great - usually get one 4 hour stretch and then a couple of 2 hour stretches but sometimes only 1! As she just turned 6 weeks (doesn't time fly!) I'm hoping for an improvement (haha!). Spoke to a school mum today who has a baby about 3 weeks old who sleeps 9-2 then straight back down til 6! She can go and stand in the corner with strawb!

WLmum · 31/01/2013 20:24

My current focus is getting her to go in her cot and not my bed, and I'd really like her bedtime to be before 11pm! Going to aim for 10 tonight.

WLmum · 31/01/2013 20:29

strawb interesting about labido. Mine kind of ran for cover after dd1 (and has never really come out of hiding) but I assumed it was because we'd had so much calendar sex ( 2 years ttc) but maybe not. I have been thinking that actually I'd like us to dtd but can't with baby t in the bed attached to my boob! It's been a very long time since we dtd as I/we just found it a bit too weird during pg - and I was soooo huge and knackered. Are others getting it on?

Clarella · 31/01/2013 20:32

fingers crossed pidj, it sounds like manna from heaven :)

hope lo is ok Brooke, sounds horrid.

I've been theorizing they sleep better when tummy holds enough to last longer. bm is digested in 2 hours or less.

block feeding- I get over supply v easily so stick to one breast for 3 hours now to calm it down. haven't had such a lovely yellow poo since but they smell normal now. he stank of sulphur poor thing, they're back to that almost sweet smell. he was getting too much fore milk which made his tummy very sore and explosive green nappies that made him cry :(

grrr to sleepers. I'm in spottys gang. I slept for 2 hours then an hour when dh came to rescue me in the morn. admittedly I couldnt sleep as was trialling co sleeping in desperation - but terrified I'd done it wrong! attempts in earlier days ended in puke affairs and he was perfectly happy in the Moses basket. now we're not so sure so finally hooked the mammoth bedside cot on to see if it helps. problem is Im now hemmed in a bit which makes night time burping/pacing tricky. there's duct tape and a box lid one end as dh is convinced I'll spill my air tight flask on his head. and duct taped phone charger. Hmm

loads more smiles today! and my friend baked me a birthday cake which I've remembered is still in the car.....

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 20:34

Ooo my own gang Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 20:36

WL dp isn't getting any and hasn't for ages... I'm just too tired and my sex drive went AWOL years ago BlushSad

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/01/2013 20:51

Poor baby Brooke hope you manage to get the drops in.

And poor you isittrue set yourself and DS up in bed and don't come out until you're better.

Ooh glad your chat went well Pidj, it may be crap timing but a dream job is a dream job.

Rather you than me Honey

No sex going on here, I quite fancy it but only stopped bleeding yesterday and am a bit scared I might wee myself from a leaky pelvic floor! No reason why I should as I don't when I cough/sneeze but still!

Hiding upstairs after a shower as I can hear J wailing downstairs. He's been a right stroppy pants today. Threw an absolute fit when I changed him earlier.

DP is away for the night Saturday so is planning on working a 16 hour shift tomorrow so he can have all weekend off. So lonely day ahead for me.

ISpyPlumPie · 31/01/2013 20:53

I'm afraid that we were 13 7oz at last weigh-in, but apart from the occassional freak night are still firmly in Spotty's gang!

Brooke - hope I is better soon. DS1 has had conjuctivitis a couple of times, and the drops are not fun but it did clear up quickly when we finally managed to get them in.

Good luck with the zip wire Honey - lovely to do something for the SCBU that helped D, and you are far braver than me.

WL - wrt to dtd, all I can say is that while bf may not medically be a form of contraception, having a baby attached to your boob half the night seems to be a fairly effective way of preventing the opportunity even arising Grin.

IsThatTrue · 31/01/2013 20:53

WL I'm not getting any until I've got my contraception sorted. God knows when I'll get round to it.

Still feel shit and now ds2 is awake and wanting boob and attention. I just want sleep! :(

WLmum · 31/01/2013 21:04

Not just us then!

Poor you isit - I had a horrible cold a few weeks back and felt so crappy and cold - sitting up half the night with your boobs out is just not fun. I borrowed a fleece shirt from DH to wear over my jammies which helped a bit. You can alternate paracetomol and ibuprofen so you get some relief every 2 hours. Hope you feel better soon.

IsThatTrue · 31/01/2013 21:24

I double teamed the paracetamol and ibuprofen earlier to get temp down (which took 2 hrs) but will alternate now. Bloody shite illness!

spotty I'm in your gang upon. The most we get regularly is 2hrs.

Clarella · 31/01/2013 21:33

wish me luck operation bedside cot commencing now after being sucked dry for 2 and half hours!!!

HoneyMumandSon · 31/01/2013 21:46

Good luck clarella

MaMaPo · 31/01/2013 22:12

No business time around here (yet) - I just started on the minipill yesterday so need to work out when we're sorted in that respect. I have no idea whether I have an active sex drive at the moment - I suspect I need to get stuck in to find out. It does relieve stress and make me feel better so hopefully we get back on the horse ok (so to speak).

Baby slept for hours this morning, and a bit this afternoon, and fell straight to sleep after her feed just after 7pm. She must have been exhausted after days of crap sleeping. Let's hope she does OK tonight... fx

WLmum · 31/01/2013 22:16

I agree mama I kind of feel that we need it to be us as a couple rather than just tag team parents.

Good luck clarella, I've had a fussy monkey this aft/eve who won't get off the boob. Hoping for a bit of respite soon.

brooke89 · 31/01/2013 22:27

Good luck clarella! I'm an hour into my operation get baby to sleep before midnight and no luck yet!

Well after zero sex when pregnant and all the problems that caused with us we are dtd again wahoo Smiledp hasn't been able to keep his hands off me which has been nice and not a porn website in sight! We first dtd 4 weeks after giving birth and all was ok.

Hope all in spottys gang get some decent sleep tonight!

EggsMichelle · 31/01/2013 22:31

Good luck Pidg with the job, I have been keeping my eye out for a new job too (less shift work or part time). DH got a job today, so proud of him, and it's perfect location for us to move back to Leicester and for him to commute to.

Hope the tag team drugs kicks in quickly for you isthattrue, that's really shitty to add to sleep deprivation and bf!!!

My boobs appear to have finally kicked into action, pumped off 6.5oz today, thinking all that comfort sucking he was doing when the reflux was getting to him has left me with over supply! Oh well, at least I can finally build up my freezer supply.

Had a brief grotty period after F's jabs this morning, gave him one dose of calpol, he slept for hours and woke up happy as anything! He has been in bed now for over and hour, I've eaten cheese cake and now off to bed. Fx for another good night (sorry spotty, I don't think I can join your gang!)
