Utopian, I'd go for trousers and a loose blouse rather than dress/ long top and leggings as you want easy access. Got any chiffon type tops with a vest underneath?

Just had 8wk jabs, F threw a major tantrum in the waiting room, but is now fast asleep on DH, who is also snoring away so I'm on watch to make sure they stay ok.

Barbeasty · 31/01/2013 11:34

Good luck Pidj.

Spotty DD doesn't nap at home, but still tends to have an hour at nursery. Don't be sad that she likes it, be happy she's off enjoying herself while you get to give DS some of the one-to-one time his sister got. That's what I tell myself anyway.

Secondsop · 31/01/2013 11:34

michelle we've just had 8 week jabs too. z cried for about 5 seconds then fell straight asleep.

utopian I've been living in wrap dresses when I want to be a bit dressed up. Plus a pretty scarf for discreet coverup.

WeeJo08 · 31/01/2013 11:44

Hi everyone! Such a loooooong time since I posted last (over a month!) - my excuse is we moved country back to NI and I'm not very good at multi tasking!! Blush We've been living like hobos out of suitcases which I HATE but we're moving into our house properly over the weekend. Yay! Grin

How is everyone doing? How's everyone settling? I haven't had a chance to read through yet, but will try to so I can catch up.

C is doing well. Sleeping through a lot of nights now from around 11pm until between 6-7am. Still has nights though when she takes a notion to wake up & be bright eyed & hungry!! I am learning that I can do exactly the same as a previous day & get a totally different outcome! Also do not want to jinx things!

8 week jabs next Tuesday - late but apparently this is okay (please say it is!) and don't really have a choice as there were NO appointments Hmm Not looking forward to it, but have been told to give a preemptive Calpol dose beforehand.

Hope everyone is coping with the weather - we have gone from being snowed in to blown away in the space of a week! Shock

EggsMichelle · 31/01/2013 11:51

WeeJo, hope the move goes smoothly for you. The nurse told me there was evidence calpol can interfere with the effectiveness of the vaccine, so only give if he gets hot or appears in pain! Luckily he's still fast asleep now so no need for it yet. How are you managing through the night? Last night was the first night V woke for one rather than two feeds.

WLmum · 31/01/2013 12:17

utopian yep, a top you can open from the top rather than lift up with a scarf draped over would be my guess.

WLmum · 31/01/2013 12:21

Pre-pg jeans!! Bit snug but done up!

ISpyPlumPie · 31/01/2013 12:26

Good luck Pidge.

Welcome back Weejo! Think our LOs were born on the same day, and N is only having his jabs next Thursday. They only do the clinic fortnightly at our surgery and he couldn't have them last week as aparently they have to be at least 8 weeks (two days before was no use). I was a bit bothered too but have been told it will be fine.

interwebmum · 31/01/2013 12:34

Thanks for all the advice on nappy rash. We have been using an olive oil based lotion and coton wool to clean her. The rash isn't too bad since we started airing it more. I tend to try and leave the nappy off after a change and amuse her with a toy until she gets fed up. The rash itself is red/pink with little spots around the edge and some shiny bits. Fortunatley the skin isn't broken.
Anyway I'll be trying all your suggestions asap.

I can't remember who started talking about baths but you inspired me to give it a go last night. It was so lovely! LO was really happy. We had a little feed in there too.

interwebmum · 31/01/2013 12:41

Something for all the dirty dunkers:

Wink
MaMaPo · 31/01/2013 12:49

Remind me - the rule is never wake a sleeping baby, right? My little girl has been asleep for over 2 hours (unheard of in her own cot) and has gone 3 hours between feeds. Yesterday we were lucky if we got an hour and a half between feeds. I am all weirded out.

Q: I am having infrequent shooting pains in my right breast - not in the nipple, more on the middle side. They're not very painful and C doesn't seem to have any signs of thrush (white tongue but I think from feeding, feeding a lot and a bit fussy but nothing out of the ordinary). The nipple itself is fine and pain free, both when feeding and expressing.

Should I ignore it?

Welcome back WeeJo! Jealous of your nights!

I've had those mamapo they come and go I just ignore them Confused Grin

I woke ds yesterday after two hours, plenty wouldn't though!

EggsMichelle · 31/01/2013 13:06

I get those pains everyday, I put it down to my boobs refilling, feels a bit like an electric shock in the centre of the breast tissue!

MaMaPo · 31/01/2013 13:12

Eggs, that's it exactly! Just the right description. Weird it only happens on the right for me.

Barbeasty · 31/01/2013 13:40

interweb I've created a dunking monster. DD saw me dipping a biscuit in my tea the other day and wanted to have a go. Ever since then she's been dunking. And if she can't get hold of my tea, apparently her water will do.

mamapo it's probably nothing, but it might be worth making sure you drain the breasts fully in case they're getting blocked.

brooke89 · 31/01/2013 14:19

It is red and swollen and literally pouring out with green gunk :( bless her! Docs appt at 4:20!

PurplePidjin · 31/01/2013 14:38

Thanks all Thanks

There's a chance I'll get it - if someone with a pgce doesn't do a better lesson than me. Plan is to have me teach a lesson, then interview the short list, then either hire a teacher or sort it so they can get me in at unqualified rates. He seemed impressed, and i got on well with the current teacher (it's a mat leave post) so it's down to luck now. I'll call back on Monday and express an interest - i need to be absolutely sure this is the right decision, as it's a life/career move as opposed to a stopgap. I always assumed I'd be a sahm so need to do some major reevaluation of pretty much my entire self image.

I get the electric shock thing if he goes more than a couple of hours - usually either when he's sleeping or when I'm surrounded by kids (work) Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 14:45

Pidj it sounds really hard, I know I'm mentally in no state to be making life changing decisions right now but you're always full if good advice and seem very rational Grin what sort of teaching is it?

Brooke Sad let us know how you get on poor poppet

I've done so much cleaning today, just have to Hoover downstairs and I can stop, well I will have to do dinner at some point but only need to do mash as shepherds pie base and red cabbage and been pre done and frozen Grin will leave all the washing up for dp as he's pissing me off at the moment Smile

PurplePidjin · 31/01/2013 15:00

Classroom music. Bit of a dream job for me, lousy timing though! (mind you so was dp's stroke, maybe this is karma?!)

Boys both asleep and mum on her way over hurrah! Coffee and cake in waitrose :o she's hosting the ILs for us on Sunday for dp's birthday - no way can i clean here and make it safe for autistic dniece at the mo.

brooke89 · 31/01/2013 17:01

It's conjunctivitis, been given some drops, getting them in is proving difficult!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2013 17:09

Argh ds has been crying on and off since half two, mainly on. I don't know what's wrong with him.

IsThatTrue · 31/01/2013 17:53

I'm ill :( temp of 38.9 :( ds was good as gold at play group he stayed awake for the whole 2 hrs Shock so he's slept and eaten (mainly slept) this afternoon. Thank god coz I am sooooo cold, getting my boobs out is not high on my priority list right now! Everyone keeps saying the house is hot but I'm bundled up like its freezing.

WLmum · 31/01/2013 18:02

Got a sad and hungry baby today

utopian99 · 31/01/2013 18:07

I think you'd make a great teacher, pidj; calm in the face of stress and always on hand with good advice!

I always thought I'd be going back to a nice secured job as an employee after having DS, and now forced into starting my own architectural practice due to actions of former employer. Not the sort of life change you plan for at the same time as looking after a months-old baby, but I'm looking on it as an opportunity!

PurplePidjin · 31/01/2013 18:32

I love teaching, been doing it for years. Just never got a chance to formalise things. We've pretty much decided to go for it. It's still fairly unlikely I'll even get an interview - it's a fab school with amazing resources and a coveted position
