We have been quiet today!

This HAS to be a growth spurt - she is feeding infeasibly often. Every 1.5 hours on average so far today. Exhausting.

Mamapo ds has been like that for a couple of days during the day. It would be fine if I had a cleaner, a nanny and a chef so I could sit on the sofa all day Grin

WillYouDoTheFandango · 30/01/2013 14:48

Poor you Kafri that sounds unimaginably hard. No advice but lots of sympathy.

Yay on the poo Clarella when did our lives become all about boobs and poo?

Cut yourself a bit of slack zcos, you're not even supposed to start dieting before 6 weeks and you have to be very careful while breastfeeding. One jeans size bigger is really good so soon after having a baby.

Glad there were good nights sleep for some. We slept 11:30-4:30 but then he whined in his sleep until we had to get up at 7:30. He just needs to fart and no poo again today. Back to trying to get come water into him.

GTT went fine, results in 2 weeks at my obstetrician check.

It's horrible weather here. Gales and lashing rain, has everyone else got that?

I've booked Zumba tonight Confused I'm scared it's going to be soooo hard!

MaMaPo · 30/01/2013 15:07

Spotty, how old is your little one? I have the NCT mothers group arriving any minute - might have to break out the sling so I can make tea for everyone! (Nanny and chef very welcome - thank goodness for our cleaner, would be living in a pigsty otherwise.)

He's 9 weeks 2 days actual but 4 weeks 6 days corrected Smile

ISpyPlumPie · 30/01/2013 15:16

2blessed - think at first I was a more embaressed about feeding in front of visitors (esp male relatives) than in public. Spent far too much time skulling around feeding in bedrooms with DS1 so was determined to be different this time. DS1 has attempted to scupper attempts at discrete feeding. ("Look Grandad, the baby's doing boob" - to DF on the day N was born and "Mummy's boob is the baby's food and drink" to my cousin's 20 year old son who I'm sure was grateful for this nuget of info!) It has actually given everyone a bit of a laugh and got over any awkwardness there might have been.

Well, it really is a wild wet Wednesday in Wigan so not much chance of getting out for a walk. Fortunately N has drifted off in the sling so might get some things done given the lack of cook/cleaner/nanny round these parts too.

Clarella · 30/01/2013 15:28

Clarella · 30/01/2013 15:29

that was yum

Secondsop · 30/01/2013 15:41

Took little Z out on my own for the first time (I know, I really should have tried it sooner). We had a lovely time - went to my office where he was duly cooed over by everyone; helped that he was really sweet and alert and happy to be cuddled by everyone. Going on the tram went fine and the new uppababy cruz pushchair is FANTASTIC - I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a pushchair that's good for urban use and public transport.

MyDaydream · 30/01/2013 16:15

E has been fussy, whiney and screamy all day and I'm exhausted. He's not stopped long enough for me to get a nap in. Counting down the minutes until DP gets home at 6.30 just to take over for a bit. He was the same last night, I'm not very good with him when he's like this.
My DP told me he ordered some computer part and I had to stay in today to accept delivery. He's been texting all day asking if its been delivered I was getting really annoyed with him that he planned to come home and play on his computer. Delivery men have just been and delivered my new dishwasher! We hate washing up and I've been asking DP for 6 months if we can afford one. I feel a bit sad being so excited by being bought a dishwasher but its made me super happy on a crap day.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/01/2013 16:19

MyDaydream I would be just as happy as you with a dishwasher!! We keep considering one but as the washing up is generally dp's job I don't see the point Wink

MyDaydream · 30/01/2013 16:24

We had one in our old house but this one just has a hole where the dishwasher should go. Washing up is supposed to be DPs job, but we disagree on how often it should be done so I do a lot of it (and leave the really nasty stuff for him at the weekend!)

cherrypiew4 · 30/01/2013 16:26

Hello Everyone,

Have not been on for a very long time and would just like to say congratulations to everyone bit late I know.

Dd is 6 weeks now and not settling well at night which I am struggling with dh works nights so all on my own with 4dc.

Secondsop · 30/01/2013 16:28

mydaydream a new dishwasher is a genuinely exciting thing. We had an ancient one that came with this house - it was so old it had gone beige - and we've just replaced it with a lovely new one (Christmas present from my mum). I couldn't manage without it, and that's with a weekly cleaner too.

cherrypiew4 · 30/01/2013 16:33

mydaydream Getting a dishwasher is exciting, mine broke on Monday and I can not wait someone to come and fix it.

IsThatTrue · 30/01/2013 16:43

Welcome back cherry

Ds2 had a lovely sleepy morning and a lovely happy afternoon and then after school we walked to town and back and he slept the whole hour and a half in the buggy. Now he's eating before we pick dd up from club. I think I've got enough energy for zumba tonight if DH is happy to have the dcs. We spoke earlier and he had a really hard day at work so he might need a rest. As for me I haven't finished work yet today as I'm taking ds2 for his first toddler group in the morning :) so I need to make up the time.

WLmum · 30/01/2013 16:55

clarella I wouldn't put Vaseline on it, sudocrem is good for everything in my book but if it's dry maybe some v gentle moisturiser, aveeno is supposed to be good.

Yay to dishwashers - we had an extension built while I was pg, my fave thing was the new dishwasher - washing up in the bath (kitchen knocked out for extension) whilst 7 months pg is no fun!

interwebmum · 30/01/2013 16:56

Hello All!
I posted on the anti-natal thread a couple of times, but I haven't been back since having my DD. I've been keeping an eye on everybody's progress though, and it's been so reassuring to see you all going through the same stuff as me.

I had my DD (Amélie) on dec 7th. It was 22 hours in total plus epidural, forceps and epistiotomy. Not quite the serene natural home birth I'd always imagined! But the end result is the same I suppose. I live in France and it's all a bit old fasioned and very medicalised here so there weren't many birthing options.
Has anyone here had any problems with nappy rash BTW? I've been trying different creams and brands of nappy, but we can't seem to get rid of it. The paediatrician said we need to give her bottom lots of air, but both times I tried leaving the nappy off and putting down old towels it was a complete poo armageddon. Any ideas?

interwebmum · 30/01/2013 17:02

this is so weird... DD has slept nearly all day! I keep going over and poking her to check she's ok. What's going on? She has hardly slept in the day for a couple of weeks. I think she's hibernating.
At least it's given me time to muck around on the web. Grin

monsterchild · 30/01/2013 17:27

interweb I have been dealing with rashes on ds. I have been bathing him, as well as making sure his bottom is very dry after I clean it, and before we put on the diaper. I also tried letting him hang out but he shot poo across the dresser and onto the cat! She was not impressed.

I did also find that just using a wet flannel then patting him dry helped a lot too!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/01/2013 18:05

Great news on the poo Clarella!

Why does ds always have a meltdown when I'm trying to do dinner?!

Dd sobbed when I picked her up from nursery earlier so I'm thinking of extending her sessions from 9-1 to 9-3 those with bigger ones do you think that's too long for a two year old who doesn't nap?

Re the face rash when dd had awful cream we used aqueous cream we got it on prescription but it's only £2 for a massive tub.

Ds hasn't had nappy rash yet but we used bepanthan with dd. didn't get on with Metanium. Make sure you try their bottom after each change as being damp ,(even with water) can aggravate it. You could put a towel in the (baby) bath for naked time so the poo can't go too far?

Welcome back to those who went AWOL Wink

halesball · 30/01/2013 18:10

Hi interweb we had our DD's on the same day Grin and sounds like same labour forceps and episiotomy. Also shes sleeping well today after weeks of being up most of the time, i'm hoping she sleeps well tonight also, that would be a real treat. There was a discussion on the previous thread about nappy rash. I can't remember wether it was metanium or benpanthem (unsure of spellings which helped) and i also think that they possibly swopped to reusable nappies. Sorry if you've already tried them.

PurplePidjin · 30/01/2013 18:11

Welcome back :)

Interwebmum have you tried reusables?

SpottyTeacakes · 30/01/2013 18:19

Those with forceps deliveries if your babies are fussy they might benefit from cranial osteopathy
