Ah there you go honey knows what she's talking about Grin

WLmum · 29/01/2013 18:22

utopian we too use 5ml cooled boiled water to make the paste then top up with 10ml ebm. I use the syringes you get in calpol to give it to her - she's not that keen but I've found it's the best way for us.

karri have you had your lo checked for reflux/silent reflux. Dd1 had silent reflux and cried constantly for 5 weeks until we started on the gaviscon. She was then a different child! Tis also true that she was a v easy toddler with pretty much no tantrums etc. A trade off!

Secondsop · 29/01/2013 19:02

Whoever asked about babies becoming more vocal - y, lots of noises here.

We also get the bottom-lip upset cry face as well. It's hilarious - like a parody of the most upset baby ever.

utopian99 · 29/01/2013 19:05

Ooh, syringe? Just a plastic one? Will zip back into boots tomorrow..

DH has just come home and told me one of the high level directors at their London office heard he was thinking of relocating and asked to meet him. Very excited but trying not to get any hopes up..

ellliebelle · 29/01/2013 19:14

Those who are bf are you all hungry all the time?

halesball · 29/01/2013 19:19

Fingers and toes crossed for you both Utopian Grin

I also have a very vocal baby and the bottom lip and frown, but this mostly happens when shes about to start crying in her sleep, its always followed by the most devastated cry ever. We're finally having a sleepy day Grin i'm hoping we have a sleepy night too.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 19:20

Ellie not so much but I just want to eat loads and loads of chocolate!

ellliebelle · 29/01/2013 19:31

Im starving :( had cereal and a banana for breakfast, a beef sandwich and banana and custard for lunch and chicken rice and veg for dinner but feel like I could eat another evening meal.....ill never loose weight if I eat everytime im hungry :(

EggsMichelle · 29/01/2013 19:41

Hunger comes and goes, one day I can't stop eating, the next I won't eat anything. However since iv today bought size 14 jeans (10 pre pregnancy) I'm clearly eating plenty!

I mix up the gaviscon in a 4oz bottle, add the gripe water and half oz of ebm. Only way I can get it in him!

EggsMichelle · 29/01/2013 20:36

Argh! The bottle teat was blocked!

WLmum · 29/01/2013 20:38

utopian make sure you aim the syringe into his cheek - he will not be pleased with a squirt to the back of the throat!

WLmum · 29/01/2013 20:43

Yep hungry all the time but tbh I'll take any excuse!

WLmum · 29/01/2013 20:53

I am currently enjoying a lovely sleeping baby cuddle while DH cooks dinner! (won't mention that he set off all the smoke alarms!)

utopian99 · 29/01/2013 21:15

Sounds lovely wlmum! My mother is here and made us supper, which is lovely. O has been sick A Lot today and whereas he used to not seem very bothered by it, this afternoon he's been really fidgeting and quite upset whenever he's not actively feeding. He's 4 + 5 weeks, so is this a wonder week/growth spurt thing? Just got really quite teary worrying it's something worse, even though hv yesterday and doctor today both confirmed he's fine. I'd never get over it if something awful happened.

IsThatTrue · 29/01/2013 21:24

Fx for your dp utopian

ellie I'm hungry constantly but trying to drink more water too as I often confuse thirst with hunger.

Ds2 had a Wakey day today only slept about 2hrs in total. I cheated and got chips for dinner. Dd and ds1 were in bed by 7.30 then I worked until 8.45 and now ds2 is dressed for bed and having a final feed. Fx for another 5.5 hr sleep tonight!

Kafri · 29/01/2013 21:27

Oh he's been on gaviscon and LF milk. Is now on cows milk protein free milk and ranitidine. He isn't as ANGRY with the crying and he isn't arching his back/throwing himself around as much but still crying constantly nonetheless.

I'm not joking when I say it is constant. He wakes between 5 and 7 am (usually) and cries until late evening with few (if any) naps inbetween. If I do succeed in getting him to sleep in the day then it's only half hour or so. Then colic really sets in on the evening and we've yet meltdown phase.

Said to DH yesterday. We have 4 days - good days (not brill but better than others), bad days, simmering days (hard work as he threatens the screams all day and its constant effort to keep it at bay) and utter meltdown days!

He screams in his pram and the car so can't even resort to those! If he is quiet in them-the moment you stop at lights/traffic he starts and Durango stop once moving again and in the pram once I enter a shop(smooth ride) he wakes and screams and died not stop. I seriously can't do anything!

halesball · 29/01/2013 21:28

Ellie, i'm starving all the time but mostly for sweet stuff. I have noticed though that if i drink more fluids i'm less hungry.

Utopian H gets abit more fidgety and uncomfortable just before a growth spurt. And she definately had a growth spurt at exactly 5 weeks. Hope your ok, my DP said he was glad sometimes if i got abit teary over things like that because it proved i was going to be a caring mum. I thought that was a positive way to look at it.

halesball · 29/01/2013 21:34

Kafri, i'm sorry your having such a hard time. I know you've probably tried it, but since i started using Colief with H shes calmed down with her crying the 1st 4-5 weeks were horrific. At 1st i used it before every BF then after a few days before every other BF then 4 times a day and now its twice a day. It is expensive but if it works the Dr will prescribe it.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 29/01/2013 21:35

Yep noisy baby here too. Chatting away on his baby gym. had a lot more crying today. Bright red face, wobbly bottom lip the lot. I had to wake him earlier as he was crying inconsolably in his sleep. It was one of those heart breaking wrenching cries. I kissed his face for about 10minutes after, felt awful Sad

I'm currently fasting before a gtt tomorrow. Very much hoping for a good result. There's birthday cake in the fridge from BiL but must keep away.

Secondsop · 29/01/2013 22:05

kafri, I really feel for you - sounds like you are having a tough time of it but you seem to be coping really well. Colic is the only thing I can think of - has the doctor suggested anything else that it might be?

WLmum · 29/01/2013 22:11

Oh kafri you poor thing, and poor ds too - something must be troubling him. I do feel for you as it does sound v similar to dd1, but it sounds as though you've tried so much without success. A sling? Have you heard of crysis? Might be useful if it all gets a bit much.

Kafri · 29/01/2013 22:11

No he's just eliminating possibilities now. Sending him for an ultrasound on his head to check for abnormalities in the brain. Said he's not 'expecting' to find anything as such so not to worry but again, will eliminate things.

Hopefully it's just a matter of time. (Saying that with a heavy heart as I'm so exhausted with it)

Colief drops are no good to me as they break down the lactose in milk to help digestion. There is no lactose in his milk to break down.

The constant crying is so draining and certainly no fun whatsoever. It's hard seeing friends post on FB about taking their contented little babies out to meet friends for a brew in costa etc. I just can't do that and put other people through his screams when they've paid to have a quiet drink themselves. I know it sounds petty, but I'm either stuck in the house or if the weather is ok, can get out for a walk but that's about it.

brooke89 · 29/01/2013 22:22

What about gripe water kafri? Isla was as bad as you've described - I bought different bottles, colief, gripe water and infacol... I use all of them. I don't know which one has worked but one of them has, she still has a bad spell around now but she's much more manageable!

halesball · 29/01/2013 22:31

Sounds like your having a horrible time. Someone posted article on either this thread or the thread prior to this. I think it was something about 'The Fourth Trimester'. After reading it i did a few things differently i remember we discussed on the thread having a bath with our DC's i've done it a few times it seems to settle H. I now also have some skin to skin in bed after shes fed of a morning before i put her day clothes on.
The article also discussed that whilst your LO is in the womb, they are use to doing whatever you do and hearing whatever you hear whilst being close to your heart. So i got back on my birthing ball and bounced whilst listening to my music (i did this ALOT during pregnancy) and holding H really close and tight to me. This seemed to settle her. Maybe you could try doing something you did alot of while pregnant. I really hope you LO stops for you soon.

ISpyPlumPie · 29/01/2013 23:36

Kafri - that sounds really hard. Wish I had some practical advice for you, but am thinking of you and hope that things start to get better soon.

Ellie - I'm hungry all the time too and keep eating absolute crap. I know we need an extra 600 ish calories a day, but have to keep reminding myself that they shouldn't be comprised of chocolate, cake, crisps and more chocolate Grin.

Willyou - good luck with the gtt tomorrow.

Utopian - sounds exciting! Will keep my fx for you and your DH.
