WL same problem here with the dummy, Isla is rubbish with it. When I'm getting her off to sleep I literally hold one side so it doesn't fall out and rock with the other hand until she's completely asleep otherwise and soon as dummy falls out her arms are up and she's wriggling around crying wide awake again!

brooke89 · 29/01/2013 13:56

Also, another thing that has helped is he mothercare app for my phone. On there is a section called baby tunes and if I play one of the white noise tunes on repeat she is better at keeping her dummy in and doesn't create as bad if it falls out.

So I was wrong about the insurance thing from the accident, basically they have agreed to pay out personally injury but are still fighting 50/50 on the crash. I'm not going to back down on the crash though so even if if it goes to court hopefully it will work out in the end.... I know where he lives, will I get arrested if I go round and tell him what I think of him?! I wouldn't really but I'm still so, so angry about the whole thing.... £1800 coming my way though.... must pay off the credit and NOT spend it on a holiday.....

HoneyMumandSon · 29/01/2013 14:08

Hmm, 1lb exactly in 3 weeks. Hv at clinic didn't seem concerned but he had been doing about half a pound a week before this. Confused

WLmum · 29/01/2013 14:48

hales I couldn't get dd2 to take any dummies at all until I stopped feeding her and put her on the bottle - that was a major struggle at about 8 months. Pure battle of wills!

Brooke interesting!

Hi, not sure where I've been but completely missed the december12 PN thread so here I am!

DS graced us with his presence on 20.12 (and hasn't stopped crying since)! Seriously - he cries CONSTANTLY. It's exhausting for both of us and does nothing to help me feel like I'm a good mum!!

Hope you guys are having a better time of it so far. I'm sure it'll get better for me when this phase passes! Fingers and toes crossed anyway!x

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 15:30

Hi kafri, we have a grumpy one too Smile I think they will get less grumpy with each milestone and become angel toddlers Grin

MaMaPo · 29/01/2013 15:33

Anyone else's baby becoming more vocal? C is making lots more cooing noises, plus she has a new cry - preceded by the lower lip sticking out, frowning eyebrows etc. It seems like a very 'social' cry, often dissipates quickly with cuddling. Anyone else know what I mean?

This strange girl is lying in her cot cooing at herself - I know she's tired, but I guess she's not unhappy as there's no crying! I wonder what will happen if I leave her...

Ooohh spotty angel toddlers?? Perhaps we'll bypass the terrible twos?!

Mama lots more gurgling from mine too, when he stops crying long enough to gurgle anyway! As fur leaving him in his cot - the min I put him down he screams like a gooden! Not sure why as I've always persisted in putting him down while I make a feed/go the loo/make lunch etc so it's nothing new, he just hates it (along with EVERYTHING else atm)

zcos · 29/01/2013 15:56

secondsop yes the dolphin noises ... its the worst I used to love dolphins!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/01/2013 15:57

Ethan doesn't gurgle much tbh he just doesn't seem to be a vocal one.

He's only slept for an hour and a half today Hmm but is in his bed now even though every now and then it's jiggling so he's not asleep properly yet. But I'm knackered from juggling him and work so I'm trying for a nap now.

zcos · 29/01/2013 16:04

seymoreinoz there are other breast feeding thingys available there is one that's a bit like a big bib covers baby but you can look down and see what they are up to maybe I would feel better with one of them? I think with my dad its seeing his daughters boob really not just seeing a bf woman. I don't think I can or should persuade him but maybe some kind of hiding contraption could be an idea.

EggsMichelle · 29/01/2013 16:27

I love the big lip, frowny cry,we also have the Claire Danes cry (very ugly face!)

BF in Pizza Hut today, very liberating and the waitress was wonderful. Gave us a discreet corner both and refilled our drinks without asking! Didn't feel uncomfortable or watched.

EggsMichelle · 29/01/2013 16:31

And since being told off for not drinking enough fluids, I've been trying to drink more and have engorged boobs!

PurplePidjin · 29/01/2013 16:44

Sorry, my list was meant as a guide for those unsure but wanting to try bf in public. It's a very personal decision, i wouldn't want to pressure anyone Blush

HoneyMumandSon · 29/01/2013 16:53

My problem with bf in public is that D seems to have taken a dislike to it. Tried when I was out yesterday and he wouldn't settle, tried at my parents and he wouldn't, got home and he latched on for ages. Was clearly hungry but wouldn't eat while out.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/01/2013 16:55

eggs I now want pizza hut Envy lol

Well DH just woke me with a shouting boy. I never even knew DH was home!

ISpyPlumPie · 29/01/2013 17:06

N is definitely getting more vocal - quite a range of gurgling, cooing and shouting now. He really looks as if he's trying to join in with conversations but gets horribly confused and just starts bashing his arm up and down instead Grin.

My belated 6 week check was fine - just a quick chat and bp check with the practice nurse. Best news is that blood test results for iron levels were back - hb is now 12.something (up from 10.2). Know it's a very daft thing to be proud of but I am. Also no more iron tablets - yay!

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 17:10

Ds is nine weeks and the stupid drs still haven't sorted my post natal Angry

ellliebelle · 29/01/2013 17:15

I am also happy to feed any where and I have done and received no negative comments although I do find it frustrating when im at toddler group with dd2 and one of the mums insits on saying every week are you feeding him again.....maybe hes a very hungry and needs a bottle......I just smile and say nothing when im really screaming inside for her to f off

Eggs I am now going to have to convince dh to take me to pizza hut on friday :)

EggsMichelle · 29/01/2013 17:34

Pidj I sat in PH repeating over and over what you said to say if anyone objected, especially loved the page3 petition one!

utopian99 · 29/01/2013 18:00

Mmm pizza... Planning soup and baguette for supper; have a bit of squidge(plus 11lbs) I am desperate to shift by dh's 30th. Sad

We've been told O may or may not have reflux but to try gaviscon. sold out everywhere in Manc but have finally found some thanks to a really lovely pharmacist in sainsburys who rang round locals for me. what's the best way to give it to him if we're more or less exclusively bf on demand? Have only tried expressed bottles in the last two days.. Pharmacist suggested a spoon? Confused

PurplePidjin · 29/01/2013 18:01

Elllie, ask her what makes her think cows milk is better for a people baby than people milk? Another one - that I've actually used - is to roll my eyes and tell them I'm too lazy for all the faff of sterilising. The point of feeding a baby is to get the child fed. She obviously feels inferior for some reason, poor woman.

:o Michelle, sometimes having a script to follow makes it easier. I get quite disappointed when i don't get a chance to say these things!

HoneyMumandSon · 29/01/2013 18:09

utopian don't mix it up with as much water as it says - its impossible! Use the 5ml of water (I think?) to make the paste and then about 5ml (or a couple of good squirts Grin of ebm and then draw the mixture into a syringe (you can get them at pharmacies for about 50p) and squirt it in :)

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 18:13

Utopian you could try a spoon, an oral syringe or a cup (like you get with night nurse) if you can express any milk for him to take it with?

My wisdom tooth is hurting and I wussed out of my dentist appointment today Blush
