The answer to the sleeping though question was a chorus of "no"s but there were a few resounding yesses and a lot more keeping quiet because the rest of us would be well jel.

Oh and the dog is either Bad Dog, Doglet or DMD (dog of mass destruction due to eating a sofa one time). The cat gets called Catlet or Fuzzbutt.

Ha! stunt a doglet is my word for very tiny dogs. I used it in Nice once when trying to tell DH that two very well to do ladies had ordered ice cream for their dogs to eat off the table from the proper bowls

I also invented ponetta. A ponetta is a very small horse. Like smaller than a Shetland pony. horsey will know what I am talking about.

I tried being a veggie as a child. Massive chopped-pork stealing fail.

blonderthanred · 17/01/2013 19:43

Cat there is a very high level of conversation in this household.

Pass I gave Calpol for the same reason, did dither but it certainly seemed to help him.

I don't have a problem eating most meats if labelled correctly but I'd struggle with dog or cat tbh. I've eaten horse in France and kangaroo in Aus tho. And goat in Rwanda!

horseylady · 17/01/2013 19:53

Stunt - my other cat (the one which actually leaves the house) bought home an entire roast chicken. He's also bought home several burgers and sausages in BBQ season.

Farrabella or miniture horse pass?

Cat - I agree.

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 19:56

horsey it was not the horse, it was the incorrectness of it all. If they allow incorrect ingredients, they would probably be lax on all the other safety checks.

J is screaming full pelt inbetween snoozes. Unable to give calpol yet due to screams. Poor little bugger.

PurplePidjin · 17/01/2013 19:57

R is Mowgli-Frog, froggy dude or little dude. He's a bit of a skinny thing!

I thought meat was what our New Forest ponies are for, it amuses me that people are so up in arms about eating Flicka! Obviously, mislabelling is a big (separate) issue

Sophia, sounds like we're equal distances from Southampton, although I'm South...

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 19:58

I would happily eat horsemeat and quite fancy trying cats paws.

horseylady · 17/01/2013 20:00

Yes mislabelling is the issue. So apply to all supermarket products and buy locally :)

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 20:01

Billie has no idea what her real name is. Also called Boo. Her name is Wilhelmina. She completely ignores it, as do I when the dr shouts it.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 17/01/2013 20:02

I call my dogs 'doglets' too stunt, and they are doglets pass, they're chihuahuas!

Bronwen gets called Bronnie, Bronners, Wennie and Splodge. Dd1 is princess squishy.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/01/2013 20:05

I'm sort of north east pp am in Berkshire. I have a friend in Winchester who I go to see and it takes around 45 mins.

Can hear DH raiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen below me Smile

pass I am going the whole hog for the next jabs, Calpol preevent. When I lived in Rugby they used to tell people todo that and I never did but O struggled so much last time i am prepping him in advance.

horseylady · 17/01/2013 20:05

I know of a slightly nutty someone who bought a horse which was farmed for meat. She tried to make it into a ridden horse but it died quite young. Had numerous problems. It was bred to eat, not ride.

New forest ponies often end up sold for meat. Most horses which go through local sales go for meat. Not pets. A lot of Irish horses are going the same way. Very well bred ones too. And people are rescuing them. Thus not solving the out of control breeding.

Titsalinabumsquash · 17/01/2013 20:06

I'm about 30 mind from Ikea In Southampton Smile South way.

I call Johnathan, Johan and DP calls him weast (wee beast)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/01/2013 20:07

Both my DDs will not allow their names to be shortened, Matilda and Violet it is then.

Occasionally William is Wee Willie, most unfortunate Grin

pikz · 17/01/2013 20:21

LO gets called Cookie Monster, tinker, cookie, piccalilli and mini me (as he is a mini version of his dad)

Pixie is my nickname or tink.

LO now sleeping after a bad night and day. He now has nyostian for thrush and Capol and saline spray for his horrible cold. Hoping from now we slowly make progress back to my happy smiley boy. Also would be nice to not cry through my next postnatal session.

pikz · 17/01/2013 20:22

I think I live right by Sophia so am 45mins from Southampton ikea

Catbag · 17/01/2013 20:23

sophia I am from Rugby! Well, Dunchurch actually, but I moved into Rugby when I left home. I moved up here with DCs 1&2's father when I was 20 and became an honorary Northerner. Well, only as far as I am concerned. Up here you cannot consider yourself a proper Yorkshire person unless you can trace your lineage back forty generations in the same Dale. My accent sort of gives me away as a dirty southerner Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 17/01/2013 20:25

I don't have a problem with horsemeat and have eaten it here in France, though choose not to buy it. Have eaten donkey sausage too, it was meh.

I do have a problem with 100% beef burgers being marketed as such when they contain horse meat, pig meat or anything else. People have the right to know what they are eating.

LO is an Emily and we call her Mimi, which also means cutey in French Grin

Hope you all have OK nights. Purple garden I hope you are both OK.

I'm in bed singing Skidamarink to DD1. Youtube really is a mine of singing ideas. If any of you fancy learning a new song which will guarantee to amuse you and any toddlers or small children try The Duck Song. Cracked me up..

I see there are no takers for a meet up at Metz Ikea. Am v disappointed at your lack of willingness to go the extra mile fora meet up. Tsk.

Night all :)

PetiteRaleuse · 17/01/2013 20:27

Pikz saline drops or spray really do help and also can help stop viruses from taking hold and developîg into shite like the B word.

Catbag · 17/01/2013 20:30

Forgot about my other children re nicknames and shortenings- DS has been Frog since he was 3 days old (he is now 13), DD1 was known as Bear, DD2 was Fairy as she was so small, but since shooting up is now Tazbag. DD3 is the only one without a moniker, but she prefers her full name. Just Magdalena it is then!

daisychain76 · 17/01/2013 20:30

Garden hope things get easier. Hope getting the tt snipped helps BP. I was cynical but it made a huge difference too H. Went to a post natal group with4 other babies the same sort of age this week and don?t thiink you could?ve picked him out as the premmie.

l am up for Warrinton Ikea if l can. persuade dh to drive. Central Manchester would be a lot easier on public transport, but l will go a long way for meatballs [drools a bit at the thought]

Just arranged to get H christened next month. Don?t want a traditional gownn or anything too OTT but would like something a bit special but not too pricey. Any ideas welcome?!

Catbag · 17/01/2013 20:31

Petite If funds allowed, I'd be there like a shot Grin

PurplePidjin · 17/01/2013 20:32

Dp was in Wexham Park as the nearest hospital - we'd been staying with the in laws :)

Sounds like we've enough for a coffee in Southampton sometime, although maybe Marks at Hedge End would make more logistical sense?

Brockle · 17/01/2013 20:41

Y doesn't have a nickname as Yousef is a bit difficult to shorten although for some reason I call him little roo. not sure why. DS1 has the best nicknames: mahmood has become moody, moods or moodster. Zakarya is the usual Zak.

warrington IKEA was in jest really. I can do central Manchester if needs be.

its snowingGrin

Brockle · 17/01/2013 20:42

PR I will check if Metz is on my bus route.........
