Previous thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/1655656-November-2012-sleeping-through-yet

The answer to the sleeping though question was a chorus of "no"s but there were a few resounding yesses and a lot more keeping quiet because the rest of us would be well jel.

blonder very little sleep, but I did have a shag earlier in the week. I think my charity shop finds have done me more good though. How is the little fella doing now?

Catbag · 17/01/2013 18:29

Yey for Yorkshire folk! I believe the Ikea in Gateshead would be my closest. It takes me about an hour to get into the centre of Newcastle from here. I am an Ikea virgin Blush

Just found out that the Tour de France is going to be coming past my house in 2014 :)

Catbag · 17/01/2013 18:30

Oh and Grin at VQ for the horsey quiche

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 18:32

Dare I say it, I am beginning to enjoy feeding J. With his jags today he may be challenging for a while, but with his increasing smiles and gurgles, and the fact that my supply seems to be matching his needs, and his cough is gone, it is, dare I say it, getting easier too. I have also stopped looking at the clock at night as I was just getting depressed. He will sleep through eventually. Hopefully before I draw my pension.

StuntNun · 17/01/2013 18:37

I know we did baby names already back in the ante-natal threads but my James seems to be becoming a Jim! When I was pregnant it seemed impossible to call a baby Jim since Jim is reserved for adults in my head for some reason. Should I resist and keep calling him James when Jim seems to be creeping in? I asked my mate Jim what his mum called him and he said she only ever calls him James so there's a precedent.

cat an Ikea virgin? Wow! You have to try the meatballs, and on the way out have a hot dog and ice cream. They have varying offers if you have their family card, like free coffee weekdays etc. The breakfasts are very good value too. They sell other stuff apart from food. My house is an Ikea shrine.

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 18:40

stunt call him whatever you want, except flower. Flower is unlikely to go down too well.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/01/2013 18:41

catbag Shock - that's one cherry that needs to be popped!

I'm all the way down in Somerset, a long way from all you lot oop north. Probably don't need an excuse to go to Ikea to be fair bought half the shop last time

Little pigs tongue tie has been snipped - they took her in another room to do it but still heard the screams Sad. She seems to be feed a little better, although boobs still sore from the recent mauling so I'll give it a few days.

Lane I once cooked a pizza to take with me to work on a night shift. I left it to cool on the worktop and our fleabag cat ate all the topping, cheese, tomato, veg, the lot. Just left me the base.

Sorry to hear some of you are having rough times Thanks

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 18:41

Jacob is Baby Geepa, or Jackabob.

Catbag · 17/01/2013 18:42

I am a life-long vegetarian. No meatballs will be had here :)

Catbag · 17/01/2013 18:44

My babies are varyingly Rivron or Rivronimous Bosch and Dino-saul Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/01/2013 18:48

Olly was rubbish for the first week after having his jabs, he dropped his feeds down, slept a lot, was snotty and generally cross. Sad might have been a coincidence.

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 18:48

Dino is better than Aah-Saul

I am considering going veggie after all the news stories.

Catbag · 17/01/2013 18:50

:o VQ!

ValiumQueen · 17/01/2013 18:51

J was not too bad after first set. He is feeling very sorry for himself now, after being all chirpy earlier. I think we will have an early night and calpol.

blonderthanred · 17/01/2013 19:04

Hurray for shag VQ. Hope you have a settled night, we gave L calpol after the first jabs and he slept really well.

Had ultrasound for clicky hip but all clear. No weigh ins this week but he looks chubbier. He's a bit mucousy from formula I think or could be mini cold - keeps waking himself (and me) up with snorting. Still a bit grumpier than usual but better since he started filling nappies again.

My sister is having a onesie party on Sat, wish I had joined the weight loss gang as I currently fill mine out a bit too well (opposite of L). I only have a onesie because she bought me one for Christmas... Funny that.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 17/01/2013 19:12

Funny how their names sort of evolve, isn't it? DD is Evie but I always call her Evie-monster or just monster. DS is Seth and at the moment is Seth-a-licious quite a lot but I find that a bit boak-y as I am saying it, so need something else. I quite fancy the beast, think it would be a good match for monster.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/01/2013 19:17

I like Rivron catSmile it sounds quite cool.

Oliver is generally CheeriO or Boris. Perhaps we could call him OreO.

There are no Ikea's near me. I think I am halfway between some London one and Southampton and both are about 45 mins away. Sad

DH has offered to do the dream feed so I am off to bed shortly, just can't be arsed to move off the sofa.

horseylady · 17/01/2013 19:18

Why vq? Horsemeat is quite lean apparently. I can't imagine why people don't agree with farmed horse meat. Ireland has a huge issue with horses at the moment so it's unsurprising many are going for meat. They were planning on a mass cull. I guess entering the food chain gives them a purpose. There's no risk to human health eating horse. The issue is the ingredient list not being true!

Dunno never really eaten meat. I really don't like it.

blonderthanred · 17/01/2013 19:23

We call L Lawrence Borrence pudding and pie . Is that boaky? I call him all sorts of cutesy names too, mostly revolving around a central concept of how much of a bean he is, although sometimes introducing the side-issue of his being a poppet, or the notion that he is in fact a little bird. Or a debate on whether his chops are more milky or cheeky.

Shall I stop now?

Catbag · 17/01/2013 19:26

Lol blonder Sounds like you have been giving it lots of thought!

Passmethecrisps · 17/01/2013 19:31

Penelope is Miss Penelope-PooPoo or penster. My mum calls her sweet p.

Do you chaps give calpol after jags even without a fever? We caved and gave it to her because she was really out of sorts but no actual fever.

Poor littlepig. Wonder how long it hurts for?

Sorry but I was massively lolling at cats stealing dinner. Our kitty is thankfully very polite. She is hugely interested in P's milk though and would love a taste. I can sometimes see her eyeing up the bottles.

Catbag · 17/01/2013 19:33

As someone who has never eaten meat, I find it odd that people make a distinction with the animals that they eat. IMO If you are going to eat a sheep, then you might as well eat horse, cat, parrot, whatever. DH is half Australian and refuses to eat kangaroo, in his words, 'cos it's tight'. Quite happily munches his way through pigs, prawns etc Hmm

StuntNun · 17/01/2013 19:36

Did anyone see the MN thread about someone's cat bringing home an entire cooked Christmas ham?

James is variously called Jamesie, Jim, Jimjam, Chubster, Chubs and occasionally Please stop crying. DS1 got called Stinky Sausage and DS2 is Dee so we're not great at the whole nickname thing. DH calls me Pie or Roog or Rooglet!

I've eaten donkey. Didn't realise it was donkey at the time but it was tasty. Given that I was on an expedition with school kids who were in full charge of the cooking (think porridge oats and water - just that. I lay in my tent one morning listening to them yelling at each other about portions. I heard one lovely girl saying "oy! Leave that alone - that's Miss Passme's porridge!" I selflessly allowed them to share my breakfast) I accepted eeyor gratefully.

Thinking about it I call P lots of things. I got a but worried recently that she might not know her own name.
