This really will be the thread where all our babies start sleeping through the night... right?!

I'm laughing at visions of cherry flying over from Japan on her brolly à la Mary Poppins to rescue huffle saying 'Now come along young snuffly huffle boy, spit spot'.

londonmrss we are going through a similar thing with feeding here, although not as bad as yours sounds. I think it's trapped wind with us. He suddenly lets out high squealy cry and kicks his legs in pain it's horrible to see. As cherry says there isn't a lot you can do to relieve wind if its already gone down below apart from tummy massage and bicycling their legs. Have you tried infacol?

squid I sometimes feel my letdown, bit like pins and needles or a cold shiver feels in my nipples. His sucking changes then from short and frequent to long and slow and then he often starts gulping air then and splutters.

On the subject of exercise, yeah what Orenishii said. I'm currently wearing an old pair of cords from my fat girl days that I swore I would never go back to Blush

It's horrible weather today and I was up in the night again so planning a day of watching The Thick of It on DVD and rejoicing that I don't have to work with people like Malcolm Tucker anymore Grin

London I imagine it'll be a piss up in a South London Boozer with some cake Grin

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 13:49

Smorgs , funny vision it may be, but that child is freezing on the porch there waiting on Mary Poppins.......

What do you do with a grumpy baby? Put him in car seat and go out in car! Sleeping baby at least doesn't complain!

Just got some fennel tea at premise of helping me express more. This might be incredibly stupid, off to google.

BoraBora · 16/01/2013 14:12

I just BF in the park with DD in the bjorn. She was trying to latch into my chest where I now have a fetching love bite.

Seriously, where do I collect my medal?

BoraBora · 16/01/2013 14:16

Huffle, it's fenugreek, not fennel!

Smorgs · 16/01/2013 14:37

Poor huffle grumpy babies are exhausting. I just resign myself to the fact I will spend most of the day feeding or getting him to sleep by bouncing on Swiss ball/ taking out in buggy/ car journey/ white noise/ sling/ anything that works...

Bit stressed out today. House is a tip. Been to college and have a mountain of work to do. DD woke up a lot last night. Someone on another thread got angry with me over a completely innocent comment. I know its just words on a screen and its a silly thing to be upset about but it really gets to me idiot. I suppose it's because I took the time to read their thread and actually gave their problem some thought, trying to come up with a solution, and in return I got told "how dare I suggest....!" (although this comment usually means you've hit the nail on the head, doesn't it?) Must stop taking things to heart....

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 15:00

Wantan stay here with nice girls. Dont go playing with nasty girls. Poor wee pet.

X

WantAnOrange · 16/01/2013 15:02

Sad woe is me......

Londonmrss · 16/01/2013 15:03

Wantan I did read that thread, it was a pretty odd reaction. Some people aren't looking for sensible advice, they just want people to confirm what they already believe and will ignore anything that doesn't.
She needs to learn how to spell too [bitchy emoticon]

Woolybob · 16/01/2013 15:10

Oh dear wantan. Some ppl are just rude and it's easier to do this anonymously on a forum. My dh works for an internet company and was a bit worried about me coming on here as he felt MN had a reputation for online rudeness/bullying. Thankfully you ladies have proved him wrong but it does go on unfortunately. Don't let it get to you.

WantAnOrange · 16/01/2013 15:11

Yep Londonmrss I suppose it wasn't what she wanted to hear, or maybe she's the sort that can't accept it very well if they aren't perfect so found it difficult to accept that she may have miss-interpreted her babies behaviour. That didnt occur to me before I posted because I miss-interperet DDs cries several times a day and thought it was normal!

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 15:19

Anyone tried to fit rain cover to pram?? Sweet lord. Not for the sleep deprived baby brain. Cannot believe I cannot work it out. I have a science degree you know..........

Londonmrss · 16/01/2013 15:20

aye me too! and as for not knowing when a baby is hungry... well my feeding situation has improved dramatically today. what did I change? I've left it at least 3 hours between each feed (and once 4 hours). each feed has been calm and ended with a nice satisfied drunk face. so I have a baby who only needs to feed 6 times a day and it seems that she was angry because I kept trying to shove my tit in her mouth when she didn't want it. she always knows what she wants, this one. I mean, imagine if you couldn't feed yourself or communicate and someone who was spoon feeding you just kept pushing food in your mouth when you didn't want it. I'd scream too.
I guess she'll get what she needs with less frequent feeding won't she?

am sure its not the end of the screamy feeds, but at least we've made a wee bit of progress.

tell that story to that other lady- I think I'm really in tune with my baby's needs, but apparently not...

squidkid · 16/01/2013 15:32

We love you, WantanOrange! (waves pompoms and Wine)
You know loads and are lovely and modest with it. Don't take internet nobbers' comments to heart (except our nobber comments of course) - so easy to misread tone and intention in text.

Is DP with DD? Can you swiftly tidy one small area of the house and do just 30 minutes of work, no more? Or if you are looking after DD right now - can you recruit him for a period this evening....
sometimes when everything gets too much it's helpful just to do one little thing at a time (she says, from bed hefting flailing vomiting child around, having done nothing but sing the wheels on the bus all afternoon)

waves more pompoms

WantAnOrange · 16/01/2013 15:40

You could go and post it but I dont want her be rude to you too Wink. I'm glad you got it sorted out. last week we had 2 days of one miserable baby and me trying to also shove a tit in her mouth all day Grin until I had a brain wave and realised she was teething. Can't see the wood for the trees sometimes...

WantAnOrange · 16/01/2013 15:47

Thanks Squid have written a to do list which always makes me feel better and DD let me put her down for 5 mins to do some dishes. I'm going to aviod looking at pile of washing.

I'll stop sulking now Blush.

WantAnOrange · 16/01/2013 15:49

Huffle rain cover stays on permanently here to aviod the trauma of putting it on everytime it rains!

BoraBora · 16/01/2013 15:51

I still haven't worked out the rain cover. There aren't any instructions. I either avoid heavy rain or the twice I've been out with it have just draped it over, hoping the wind didn't take it!

squidkid · 16/01/2013 15:54

I don't have a rain cover yet, I thought the hood thing would be sufficient... her legs get wet sometimes but I'm sure it will just make her grow up big and strong Blush

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 15:56

DH just home. Took him 5 seconds..........
Blush Angry

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 15:58

But my instincts were right. Asleep by bottom of street. So I turned around and came straight back!!! Only thing shredding round here is my nipples........

Instinct to detect sleepiness. I would like to think so at 12 weeks. Blush

BoraBora · 16/01/2013 16:01

Haha Squid that's so Yorkshire!

hufflepuffle · 16/01/2013 16:03

Seriously Bora? Well done!!! I cannot envisage me ever being that fabulous!!!!
