I went with Gary's suggestion, as it was quite awesome and indeed factual!

Hi everyone, lots to catch up with and am on my phone as usual so have to rely on my non-existent memory!

lmf hope Octoboy feels better soon. DS didn't have much trouble with his CP but I have heard that a bath with porridge oats in can soothe the itching. Apparently you can make a kind of tea bag with coffee filter papers, tights or a sock! Might be worth trying.

Can't rememeber who was talking about fussy eating, faffin maybe? I had to see a dietician for DS when he was 18 months (because he had physical troubles eating and swallowing) and the advice I was given was to make up a plate of all sorts of things so that he could just pick and choose what he ate. So I would put eg a mini sandwhich, fruit, dried fruit, baby crisps/mini-cheddars/breadsticks, vegetables all on one plate and at first he would just eat what was familiar but it didn't take long for him to branch out and try lots of things. He is now a pretty good eater other than having a very weird and violent dislike of peas!! (Which, of course, is DD's favourite food!)

oi DD was the same with her sleeping. Terrible, waking every hour and then overnight sleeping right the way through! Having said that we had people over last night and they were a bit noisy coming in and woke DD up and I then spent the next 3 and a half hours trying to get her back to sleep again! Its weird, if she goes down ok then she rarely wakes up but if she wakes soon after she's gone down then it can take hours and hours to get her back to sleep. Very odd.

Muffinpig · 17/01/2013 14:22

I can't believe how far the pregnancies are along too! Although I expect it doesn't feel like that when you're the pregnant one! seven that lack of weight gain is impressive! I put on 3 stone Blush

xiao I'm so sorry that you went through that and so glad that DS is on the mend. Totally get what you mean about the change in perspectives though. It was touch and go whether DS would survive for 13 long weeks and I think it has totally changed my perspective on life. I also, probably unfairly, can get very frustrated with people - at work or friends - who make a massive deal out of tiny irrelevant things. We also have a family member who has a huge "poor me" mentality. She is always complaining how hard her life is, how little money she has etc when she is just very, very entitled and LOVES playing the victim. Of course, when we were going through everything with DS she gave us zero support. Gah! Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant. Sore point at the moment!

Got to go, DD just woken up screaming :(

OiMissus · 17/01/2013 16:16

I was planning to nip out to Waitrose (the nearest supermarket to work) to pick up house-arrest essentials when I remembered that I'd left my bag at home. No pennies.
No 'sentials.
Day before weigh in - would it be unwise to get pizzas delivered tonight?!
No sign of snowage at work yet, but it could be an entirely different story at home.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 17/01/2013 16:21

Been snowing on and off all day here.

The garage is very nearly empty, builders start at 8am :o

pluCaChange · 17/01/2013 16:47

Hey, seven, maybe your builders will get snowed in, and will just decide to work through! Grin

SparklyandHappyMe2013 · 17/01/2013 17:33

Sodding snow. Left work 5 mins early as it started to really come down. :( However, the school is open tomorrow at the moment anyway.

Figgygal · 17/01/2013 18:04

Bristol has literally had two snowflakes fall today it's just not happening here I will be amazed if it does!! The forecast looks pretty bad the next five days and I'm flying to Scotland next Thursday so fingers crossed.

Thank you from the birthday messages we have decided on a takeaway and wine at home tonight the film was utterly amazing I couldn't believe how good it was would recommend it to everyone I definitely take tissues I just cried over and over again Blush.

LittleMissFantabulous · 17/01/2013 18:05

No snow here, but still tromping through the remains of the stuff from earlier in the week. Weather app says there's chance if snow in the next three days:/

Almost belated wishes Figgy, enjoy your takeaway:)

Northern your post made me laugh. DH also has an impressive array of coats and jackets. And outdoorsy shoes. I have been known to frequent the Trafford Centre on our visits up North Oi, the climate there is more my kind of thing!

Thanks for the food ideas Muffin, I?ll definitely bear that in mind. At the moment, given a plate like that, he?d eat various bread items, crisps and dried fruit. He seems to be a bit like Northern?s DS in that he doesn?t like wet things e.g. he?ll eat sultanas, but give him some fresh grape and he?ll shudder and look repulsed upon touching it, and then throw it on the ground. Most difficult is that he used to eat some things such as pasta, but now refuses to. Given he also refuses potatoes (in any form), it makes meal times very tricky!

Hoping BOi sleeps through again, and that various other LO?s catch the sleepy vibes.

LMF how?s Octoboy now?

I found out today that one of the other Mums at our village school tots group had her second baby girl last night. None of us even knew she was pregnant Shock. Someone even asked her last week if she was planning any more children, and she just said maybe some time. Apparently they wanted to keep it quiet Confused

I have a cold and have been feeling pretty rough today. DS has a cold too. DD doesn?t have a cold, is full of beans, and today decided she was going to be very naughty all day. I ended up sending her to bed with no milk or stories. Not my finest parenting hour, and I know I would have dealt with her behaviour better had I felt better myself Sad

Found out today that DD?s hernia op will be on 4th Feb. Not long at all to wait.

DH due home soon, so I?m off to chuck a pizza in the oven. CBA cooking anything more strenuous today. It has not been healthy eating week chez Faffin.

Faffin · 17/01/2013 19:59

And Happy Birthday figgy

NorthernChinchilla · 17/01/2013 21:00

Happy birthday figgy, glad you like Les Mis in a sobbing sort of way!

And that made me laugh back faffin, it is a Northern/NW things I'm sure (wonder if Oi is the same) - I have a hanger with all my scarves, and a bag coming off that with all my hats in so I have loads to choose from in the morning too!
Glad to hear my DS isn't the only one with the not touching wet things, but it is so irritating. Bob knows why, as he loves his baths, loves washing his hands, and loves his food, but I've been hit by enough ballistic apple by now to give it a rest for a while.... Bugger about the potatoes and pasta though; take it rice and quinoa feature heavily?

So we're snap on the builders then seven, ours will be round, snow permitting, at half 8. If they're delayed because of the snow and we have to live in tighly packed chaos for any longer than necessary I will not be pleased...hope you don't suffer the same fate.

And don't talk paperwork Plu; I spent yesterday sorting out new home insurance, saving us £50 per month, and now the sodding gas/elec bunch want to double our payments. Every bloody six months I have to call them, and point out that their proposals are ludicrous by their own information that they provide, and every time they back down and agree that I can pay what is reasonable...it's just a bloody thieving con but it really gets my goat!!

Ahem.

Can you tell? Confused

Hope jiggle and seven get better nights, and LMF and the tentacled one- any sign of it starting to heal?

LittleMissFantabulous · 17/01/2013 21:30

The angry redness around the pox is retreating, the non-bum ones are crusty and he is on the mend:o He did sleeping for two hour stints last night, so business as usual. I'm ready to drop!

Apologies for no name heckling, am about to go to sleep >_

OP posts:
GaryBuseysTeeth · 17/01/2013 22:06

Happy Birthday Figgy!!

LMF, hope you sleep well, huzzah for pox going away!

I've already gained 6lbs (although by 12wks with DS it was closer to 20lbs) & have had to buy a few pair of size 12 bottoms so am very jealous of your minimal gain seven!
Watched OBEM with DH last night, and HE was the one getting all misty eyed at newborns! I can't believe how broody I'm feeling right now.

Hope everyone has a snow-free friday/weekend!

Aethelfleda · 17/01/2013 22:09

Evening. Hope you're all battened down nicely. DD2 liked her settling-in session at the new school, aided by the purchase of a spangly new book bag and jumper from the school office. Her teachers seemed lovely too (phew). DS was also happy as the school has a toddler group so he got to charge around putting Things into Other Things while DD2 was with the new class.

Glad Octoboy is getting better LMF.
Good luck with the builders Northern
Happy birthday Figgy!

pluCaChange · 17/01/2013 22:44

Good news about the retreat of the pox! Poor boy, though, for suffering it so badly (and you...) Sweet dream s tonight Smile

OiMissus · 18/01/2013 08:26

I knew I had tempted fate... It wasn't his fault, bless him. He started caoughing up phlegm and choking and spluttering - he was really struggling to bring it up. This was at 2.45am. So I ran in and flipped him over my shoulder and gave him lots of back whackage, and I ended up with a very wet, slimey nightie. He took a while to calm down, and by then, we had already got into our bed. I am weak, but I didn't like the sound of him choking and spluttering. :(
I'm working from home today. The snow is plentiful and getting thicker. Mum is going to drive to the top road and walk down the hill to let me get a few hours in. Until then I am using the TV babysitter. But all I wantgto do is get out and play. :)

CheungFun · 18/01/2013 08:29

Morning everyone,

No snow overnight thank goodness, but we are supposed to get it this afternoon.

DS has another settling in session at nursery today, so I will give them a call later just to confirm they're still open.

Happy Birthday Figgy glad you enjoyed it!

I'm so sleepy and lazy this morning that I haven't read back on much of the thread, but excellent news on the pox LMF, and Faffin that sounds so wierd to be covering up her pregnancy?! Will you all be expected to ignore the baby I wonder? Finding it hard to understand why someone would cover it up for the entire pregnancy...

Figgygal · 18/01/2013 08:45

Oh bloody hell the snow has fallen it is everywhere and quite deep dh and I have very different views about driving in snow being from Scotland maybe it's because I am a bit more hardened to it however he panics at the first sign of it. Rather than let me drive five minutes to the supermarket so I can do with the weekly shop he has gone out in falling snow to walk there in 20 minutes and walk back again with a much more limited amount of shopping on his back it honestly looked like he was setting off on Arctic expedition. I just don't get it however I will call the school in a few minutes to see if our baby swim is on this week we had Cinema tickets booked for tonight to go and see the hobbit we were going to leave DS at PIL and then stay overnight rather than waking up and take him home, dH has already decreed that we won't be going as it's too dangerous it's 10 bloody hours away!!! Wouldn't mind but I've got tickets 4 other people too and they might not be so paranoid and hysterical about driving in the snow as he is and they would miss out too. I only hope that because it is a small local cinema run by volunteers it will not be showing tonight and then we can all have our money back ...... fingers crossed.

The weather app on my phone is basically saying snow and sleet in the next five days glad i took my laptop home from work on Wednesday as it looks like I won't be going to the office Monday!!

I hate being snowbound DS will hate it even more I'm already feeling cabin fevery I'm glad we managed to get out and about yesterday DS loved soft play in the morning we kept going up and down the slide which goes into the ball pit and he would sit at the top and then turnover and go down backwards watching me and laughing as he went.

I think there has been a poo download must go and investigate

SparklyandHappyMe2013 · 18/01/2013 08:57

Snow, snow sodding snow!!

It's coming down thick & fast! Having a snow day. Both school & nursery are shut too. Roads are really bad x

SevenReasonsToSmile · 18/01/2013 11:10

Still snowing here, with more forecast over the weekend.

We're hiding from the builders at my parents house, the noise of the floor being dug up was terrifying apparently. Today should be the noisiest bit though until they're ready to knock through into the house.

jigglebum · 18/01/2013 12:08

5 inches or so of snow here and still falling. DS was in the garden making a snow man by 8.30am. DH can walk to work now so he has gone in. I attempted to take F and DS sledging on the hill fort (opposite our house) but F didnt like the snow in her face. luckily I could leave her with a neighbour for an hour or so whilst DS and I had fun. We are now all back in the warmth. I am meant to be working today but sent my cover in last night - the road I travel on is probably impassable and the in laws could nt get here for childcare.

Some progess on the sleep last night. she woke 3 times , settled herself once and the others I just went in once and lay her back down and she settled. No milk all night. So a big improvement but not sure if it the sleep training or due to seeing the cranial osteopath yesterday or just a fluke but hoping it continues!

pluCaChange · 18/01/2013 12:28

That sounds like avgreat night, jiggle, well done!

BOi's not so great. Guess we can't win 'em all. They are unpredictable little b*ers, aren't they?

How's Octoboy?

LittleMissFantabulous · 18/01/2013 12:37

Up every 90 minutes, but I can see a flash of white on his lower gum, so as well as pox he's had teeth coming. Poor little sod!

No snow here yet, but the fermi gets are predicting seventy trillion metre overnight. Pfft!

Hope fridaybis being awesome. We just had crispy bacon sandwiches for lunch (he had ham, fake baconWink ) so everything is awesome:)
