I went with Gary's suggestion, as it was quite awesome and indeed factual!

Hurrah aethel great news.

We're considering a move that might result in me giving up work.... Nannygate continues and I'm fed up of basically paying most of my net pay to someone who is rude and inconsiderate over text but lovely in person else to look after my children.

Exhausted by all the thinking about it all. But what us the Dec 11 wisdom on childcare. DS1 goes to school so we had a nanny to look after DS2 in the day and pick DS1 up from school plus the school holidays are sorted. But what are the other options? Nursery for DS2 and a childminder to pick DS1 up from school but then what about the holidays. Do I just need a better nanny?

WAHEEEEEEEY! aethel that's fabulous news! I'm so pleased for you and the family. I think this is the time for that meal you had when you combined every evil foodstuff known to humankind...like tikka chowmein fajitas or something, knocked back with said vino!

I'm really hoping for the dry ears and good diction...and would you believe the poor kid's got an eye infection now too, so is leaking from everywhere- kid lives off anti-biotics, I tells ya, and it's not great. But what can you do when he wakes up with his eye closed because it's so puffed up?

Lovely afternoon here- work totally hectic but then DP and DS came in and we bimbled off. Went crazy and bought new onesies for DS, couple of comics for for DP, and new lunch tin for me from Paperchase. Dinner at Pizza Express and home- DS has loved the train journeys, barely seen him so excited Grin!

Raaboonah The woman who lives next door to me is a childminder who just does a before and after school club, and also looks after those children during school holidays. Is that something you could look into for DS1? I've only ever used nurseries for my two, so I can't compare and contrast with nannies, but I have no complaints about nursery at all.

We had a nice afternoon out at the park today. It was lovely to get out for some fresh air after a week of snow and rain. It was a little busy as it's half term here this week, but that seemed to mean some delayed gratification for DS - he laughed like a loon when he finally got his turn on a swing Smile. After a rough couple of weeks with little sleep, we've been enjoying catching up again this week - DS had two molars come through on Monday. 10 teeth now, halfway there.

Figgygal · 16/02/2013 09:12

Oh and his new nappy change resistance technique is to steal my glasses and generally scratch your face I have marks on my nose after yesterday yet my cm says he's great with nappy change she just says nappy time and he goes to her mat puts it on floor and lies down Hmm

Congratulations Aethel! Great news! Also to Figgy on the cm solution.
Ear sympathies to minichin, and mopsy. Hmm
My baby is gone. Hmm He looked adorable in his wedding outfit (mamas n papas figgy). As soon as we came down he was attracting the ladies, and soon Macey was playing with him and kissing him. She got a bit of a shock when he started kissing with tongues.... (That's how the gps dog gives kisses, BOi thinks it's normal Shock).
Later on he was charging around the dancefloor with the other kids. One started twirling around, with arms outstretched, and then there was no stopping the BOi!
So grown up!
Yesterday, I took him to a soft play centre for the first time. He found a friend immediately (aged 2) and they had great fun climbing and sliding in the toddler enclosure.
It's amazing to see him interacting with other kids, but where's my baby gone?!
We are officially the world's worst parents. We packed up the car for the wedding (staying at the hotel). And we remembered everything but the nappy bag. (No nappies, no baby cutlery, no bibs). We had to borrow nappies and wipes from others, until the evening do when we arranged for someone to bring us some. (We were in the middle of nowhere.) but then at soft play, we did the same. To be fair, we'd only nipped out to Tesco, and then decided to go to soft play. But we had to borrow a nappy and wipes from the centre when we got the unmistakeable whiff...

Great news aethel!

Queen fx for a BFP tomorrow.

Sorry for the silence, I've been lurking but not posting. Feeling enormous and my pelvis is killing me, and spending every spare moment knitting as I think I've been rather ambitious thinking I could get this blanket done before baby arrives.

Sounds like a thread title oi!

off out with my antenatal friends from DD1 tonight on a rare evening out for chinese (yum). We've spent most of the day lounging and packing bits and bobs (stereo system into its boxes...) it's starting to feel real at last :)

Aethelfleda · 16/02/2013 19:02

Ooh and good luck with the knitting seven, I'm now started on a scarf for DD2 (incredibly tasteful hottest hot pink!). Little by little does it!

Been for a rare night out with DH for his annual squash club dinner. Best part of the evening was when I'd just for dressed up and we were about to leave and DD said: "you look beautiful mummy" ( I love her so much!). Most random part of the evening was that we ended up sat on a table with two other players and their wives and I'd been at school with both women. It's been almost 20 years since I last saw them Shock

I was wondering about a new thread title too, can't believe it's rolled round again.

Good grief figgy, was it your mouth that bled? Doubly irritating that he's fine at the cm's too.

We've done very little today, both DS and I have been under the weather. We've both slept loads and DP did the shopping. So instead of a homemade Thai meal, a cocktail/glass of wine and some, erm, fun, it's been Vimto, a freezer meal and an early night...

northern it's the bridge of my nose and I have a scratch on my forehead too.

He's been screaming and throwing himself round today teething sucks yesterday I lost my temper and started crying like a loon as he wouldn't go in his carseat and managed to flung himself out of it almost landing in the footwell. Have told dh I need time to myself next weekend especially as he is off birding 7-7 Sunday so now to think about what I want to do .......decisions decisions

Our next door neighbour invited us for Sunday lunch today unfortunately it's when he's due a nap but hopefully food will distract him it usually does Grin

DS has chickenpox...! Honestly, one visit to toddler group and this is our reward: I took him to the toddler group near our new house when DD was visiting her new school, that was 2 and a half weeks ago so the timing fits. Oops, there go all the half-term plans, he'll be off from the childminders all week and we'll have isolation activities...poor mite. At least he seems Ok with it so far....

Report
SevenReasonsToSmile · 17/02/2013 09:49

Boo to chickenpox aethel, glad he's coping ok with it so far.

northern sorry you're both feeling poorly, hope you're better soon.

figgy sounds like he's being difficult at the moment, we all lose our temper at times. Hope you figure out what to do with your free time.

I have a dribbly snot monster today, I'm guessing it must be time for more teeth.

Right, I need to go and do some baking. The last chicken has finally started laying, I have 8 eggs already and expect at least another 3 today.

Any news Queenie?

Figgy, sorry he's being a grumpy butt right now. Hope lunch goes well!
And that you're healed soon...long time back I got a black eye at work, the dirty looks my then-boyfriend got when we were out & the amount of women who mouthed/asked if I was 'alright' was crazy (although reassuring in a way).

Double boo for the pox Aethel, hope he continues to not really mind.

Northen, hope everyone feels better at yours soon, and you manage to have some fun asap!

Faffin, awww how sweet of DD and how random to be sat next to old school friends!

Seven, hurrah for your chicken. Have fun baking (feel free to share cake with the group) and hope teething doesn't go too badly.

I like Oi's suggestion for next fred name...or to Star Trek theme it 'Where, oh where, have our babies Gorn' (Gorn being the lizard race).
other Star Trek themed ones I can think of;
Trials and Tribble-ations
Adventures with our little Klingons
Growing up and making Ferengis

I do like Star Trek....

I should have said I haven't even had a cookie, just the few handfuls of choc chips I had while I was baking have given me heartburn, you lot are welcome to them. And it only used two eggs, so not a huge success really.

Aethel hopefully chicken pox will be a mild case.

Love cookies. I just want to eat cake & chocolate - is that a bad thing.
