Oh God sorry for quick read and run but the Xmas pack up is ON!!! Have packed all bean's stuff, sitting in towel here trying to think about what I need myself now. We're away for 9 days in 2 different places...

Huffle sorry not to help my probs were all blocked duct related (you can ask me ANYTHING about that, could write a fucking thesis!) so no experience with thrush. Have you tried posting over in BFing? And Kellymom is good too. Worth calling LLL but tbh when I phoned a couple of helplines they basically read out a leaflet which I'd already found online Hmm and admitted I'd done EVERYTHING! But worth a try as there might be one magic cream or something that would help.

Will probably get online when we're away but in case we don't HAPPY XMAS BEAN BAKERS!!! We've done so well to get to this point, we're all still here and the beans are still here so Biscuit, Brew and Wine all round Xmas Grin xo

Londonmrss · 22/12/2012 13:18

we're also doing the Xmas pack. and my husband is bloody useless. I gave bean a good feed and then handed her to him and went off for a bath. 5 minutes later there was a knock at the door.
"she's hungry"
"no she isn't."
"she is, she's crying."
"how are you holding her?"
"cradling her on her back"
"she hates that, hold her upright on your shoulder."
"but I always hold her like this"
"and she always hates it and then you always decide she's hungry. I always tell you this. hold her upright"
pause. crying stops. happy coos start.
"no she still looks grumpy, you'll have to get out of the bath."

this is a man with 2 PhDs. I suppose he still gets frightened when she cries, but it's always so easy to solve!

happy Xmas angelico! we're off today too but will hopefully get chance to read and post thanks to my shiny smartphone thing.

good luck with the boob huffle- sorry couldn't be more help.

hufflepuffle · 22/12/2012 13:36

Gosh you are all good having mega trips away!!! I am in a panic about 8 hrs out of house on Christmas day!!!

Just been down to work for over an hour to iron out some ishoos. Bean fed before I went. Should hav slept for 2 hours. Cried most of time. Poor daddy. Tried v v v hard not to laugh but unsuccessful!!!! Hard, innit DH????

I feel like a new woman getting out for an hour on own, sore boob or not!!

Thanks for all feedback. GP not really any more helpful than I thought so I'll muddle on. It really is far cry from hideous pain of early weeks and I am hopeful I will sort with these new dressings.

DS has proper clothes on today for first! Wee soft dungarees and socks!!! Feel a bit tearful. Must make DH change all nappies!! Ha!

Happy travelling Angelico and Londonmrss!!

X

BoraBora · 22/12/2012 13:38

Happy Christmas Angelico!

London, punch him. Not a jury in the MN world would convict you Grin

hufflepuffle · 22/12/2012 14:59

Londonmrss my DH response to crying is usually 'I think we should feed him' (we????) or 'Will I put him in the swing and see if he will sleep?'

As each weekend approaches I say that he needs to spend as much time with DS as possible so they can get used to each other. But invariably he finds 101 things to do and I am still holding baby!!

They really are just not programmed for it!! And that is not me making excuses, they just need to bloody try harder!!!!

Did you get out of bath? God I'd love a bath....!

Oh and I can feel the jelo gauze stuff cooling down my pain already. Fingers crossed it is working.

BoraBora · 22/12/2012 15:38

I've just been for a run! But my god that was the hardest 2.6m of my LIFE! Feel awesome though Smile

Huffle, and anyone else with bad wrists, I've found out mine's DeQuervain's Tendonitis, otherwise known as mother's wrist! Apparently caused by the way I pick up DD. I don't do it in any unusual way but I had Carpal Tunnel at the end of pregnancy so I reckon they're just a bit crappy.

God, I want a mince pie Grin

HoneyMumandSon · 22/12/2012 16:18

I'm being totally neurotic and pfb but need reassurance - my mum was driving back from a family party with us and hit a speedbump really hard. LO squeaked and we all jolted a bit. He will be ok wont he?

squidkid · 22/12/2012 16:18

Wow nice one Bora I spent weeks building up to that length! Grin Slow and steady wins the race I keep telling myself....

Well me and boyfriend managed to do a market shop for all meat/fish/veg with jess in the sling in the pouring rain (just cause it's excellent and cheap, and I refuse to give money to tesco) and then lunch out in a cute vegan cafe and a haircut/beard-trim for him in a scary turkish barbers while i drank mocha and fed jess in a rocking chair and then to waitrose for a few expensive treats ( and awesome cheese)....... without any meltdowns so I am dead proud of us.

we are going to a mates for an hour then coming home for mussels and cider, i have bought the most awesome sexy tasty fun christmas food EVER

we are going back to the market xmas eve in the hope of scoring a lobster for xmas day who we are going to call SANTA CLAWS, turkey sucks anyway

so glad i cancelled going away to xmas! good luck and stress-free vibes to all travellers!!

Xmas Smile
squidkid · 22/12/2012 16:18

I think my first run was about 2.6 metres, haha....

BoraBora · 22/12/2012 16:23

Hohoho, squid I promise you it was slow!! I set out to do 5k, that ain't happening!

Honey LO will be fine! Just think - there'd be news reports if that kind of thing was dangerous, and carseat manufacturers would be capitalising on it!

squidkid · 22/12/2012 16:25

PS I feel 10000 x better after scoring myself a haircut AND a shag yesterday. If at all possible, highly recommended to all of you! Xmas Wink

HoneyMumandSon · 22/12/2012 16:31

Thanks bora :)

Londonmrss · 22/12/2012 16:54

so I'm from Yorkshire which means making a cup of tea is like a ritualistic alchemy which must be done right.
but we've run out of milk and it's pissing down.
what would happen if I put expressed breast milk in my tea? technically all milk is breast milk...? Blush

Beeblebear · 22/12/2012 17:17

Hello all! Hope you all have been well. SIL goes home today. Was great to see her but i am exhausted! We were at our in laws almost every day for the last two weeks. While it WAS.nice to have more hands it was a little too much. If i wasnt feeding him someone else wanted him and i think ds really misseed cuddles with his mom as the last two days has been feeding nearly non stop.

Havnt really been reading up, but one daddid pop on and read a couple pages.. Squid you will find this funny... Opened your picturw of swimming with jess and it has somehow set that as my homepage and i cant override it, so now everytime i open my browser, there you are.

Anyways hope you all arw well and have all finished your Christmas shopping!

Londonmrs.. go for it!

Has anyone here tasted their breast milk?

Zara1984 · 22/12/2012 18:01

Waiting for DH at the airport (after a 4am start and 2 hour drive to Auckland!)! It's been really hard without him. How do army spouses do this?! DH was saying that airport scene in Love Actually (that Christmas classic) takes on new meaning when you're away from your child. Choked both of us up just thinking about it! DH said he had to turn the movie off when it was on the other night as it made him too upset without me and DS :(

LOL bora hey 2.6m is more than I've done so far!

squid a run and a shag are all I want for Christmas! Possibly I was too optimistic buying the 30 pack of condoms instead of the 12, but hey god loves a trier, right?

Zara1984 · 22/12/2012 18:07

londonmrs DO IT! Grin That was the prank I was going to do to everyone while bf! By the way, wanted to day I am SO PLEASED and MASSIVELY PROUD of you that you're bfing like a champ. We had similar difficulties at the start so I think it's amazing you overcame them.

The past few days I read the book Bottled Up by the woman who writes the Fearless Formula Feeder blog. It was healing Smile I think I'm really feeling much better now about not bf. Parts of that book (ie the bits about pain, guilt, shame) I could've written myself. Would recommend (the book, not the guilt, lol!).

Zara1984 · 22/12/2012 18:20

I always forget things!!

Right also had more success with settling DS for the night. Brought his bedtime back WAY earlier - bath at 5.45pm, bottle at 6pm, in bed and rocking to sleep at 6.30pm. Had to go in and shhhhh/pat/settle but not pick up a few times between then and 7.30pm. DMIL had him for the night as I had to get up early to drive to Auckland, she said he woke of a feed at 2am and then was up at 6.30am! Brilliant! Will happily take a night feed over him sleeping through if it means we don't have hours of overtired screaming in the evening!

Starting to really learn when he's just having a whingey/tired cry. Picking him up and cuddling seems to make it worse, so I tried just shhhh and pats and rocking (and kind of ignoring him whingeing) and it worked! Is that Ferber method lite or something?! I guess it was sort of like crying it out.... Hey it worked, though....

Cherrychopsticks · 22/12/2012 19:30

Night feed...

I did read that as 2.6 metres Bora! I've been in metric Japan too long. Anyway, we'll done you!

Grin @ "Santa Claws" Squid. I love lobster! Sounds like you're going to have a lovely Christmas.

Hooray for DH's arrival Zara!! You must (have been?) be so excited. Love "God loves a trier", let's hope so. Have fun! Wink

MIL's Xmas party was predictably chaotic, especially as we couldn't get him down for a nap in the afternoon. Other than a little doze in the car seat, DS didn't sleep until after we got home (with lots more settling) at nearly midnight. He slept for over 4 hours and has just woken for a feed, but is still really unsettled which is not like him. Sad
Oh well, tomorrow's another day, I just hate seeing him stressed out.

Cherrychopsticks · 22/12/2012 19:41

Wantan, yes, using new born insert. It's great for the back but he still flops forward sometimes.
Hope you feel better soon, not what you want over Xmas.

London, loved your convo with DH. Must admit, here its's often me suggesting a feed because I can't handle the crying and DH's attempts at soothing any longer. Grin

Huffle - agree, MIL has absolutely no clue about over stimulation. There were reindeer antlers and everything. Confused

MickeyTheShortOne · 22/12/2012 19:52

Hello everyone :) Merry Christmas to you all!! Xmas Grin We are manically busy in the next couple of days so I hope you all have a wonderful christmas and chill out, drink Wine and eat too much!!

Squid I would love a shag for christmas. I'm feeling better now and can face the thought of sex.. But sods law has again, reared its ugly head and DP has bad sciatica. Again. And can't lay down. Or stand for too long. So shagging is out the window Xmas Envy

hufflepuffle · 22/12/2012 20:23

Santa Claws Priceless!!

Zara well impressed at sleep!!!!! And well delighted at DH arrival!!! Yay!!!!!!!

We majorly fucked up sleep last night. DS v tired and slept early on living room. In our wisdom we thought put in bed early with no bath. Doh. Ended up bathing at 11.30 just to calm him. Slept 12.30-4.30 then 5,30-9. But DS antsy all night. And all day. He really is grouchy st the minute full stop. I hope it is a phase!

Removed part of newborn insert from carseat!! My little man getting big!

hufflepuffle · 22/12/2012 20:26

Have laughed at milk in tea London!!!! Great idea!!! At the moment i would give all my guests thrush, but in a few weeks.......!

And yes, tasted mine good while ago! Strangely sweet and pleasant!! No wonder the little buggers drink so much!!

BoraBora · 22/12/2012 23:02

Oh god...regretting run...seizing up...ow!

lisbethsopposite · 23/12/2012 00:29

Ooh!! Over 8 hrs and no posts?? Record for us?? Good nights all round??

We had good success with first night in gro bag! Much easier to actually set in to basket without waking. However 11-2 and 2.30-7. Not bad but could do better babby Huffle!! V pleased with bag, tho bit Shock at prospect of leaky dirty bum! Right out to buy a spare today!!

Oh and if anyone interested, the dodgy nipple much improved!! This Jelonet stuff fab for moist healing! Tiny layer of fucidin h on crack, covered nipple in Jelonet then daktarin on rash. Fingers toes and chipolatas crossed that it recovers fully this time! And I have bought ANOTHER pump. Ameda lactiline dual from Boots, £30 off then another £15 off with a voucher code when spending £100. I will get expressing properly, I must!!!!!!

Happy Christmas eve eve all. We cooking a ham and the stuffing then off out to find some sparkly street lights, music and festive atmosphere, god knows Scrooge here needs it!!
