Inlaws cancelled. At 1.30 so after all the sodding prep done. MIL has vomited. Not sure if nerves or germ. Did not want to be stopping at every service station to be ill apparently. I said 'especially as you would have been sent home again'. Did not go down too well. May come tomorrow.

YellowWellies · 08/12/2012 19:38

We haz a Christmas Tree! Little man seems to have noticed the lights.

Horsey a rocking horse is such an appropriate pressie for your son! I love it.

We seem to be onto one good night followed by one bad night. I hope he shakes this thrush soon. He's busy clusterfeeding now so hopefully this means it'll be a better night. I sooooo hope he reverts to his good habits of only waking once a night for us - I hope this isn't the new normal as far as sleep is concerned. Yawwwwwwn

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 08/12/2012 19:42

I am on the 15th feed since midnight. Admittedly some feeds have only been 10-15mins long, & the longest about 30, but OMG. Some is comfort for sure, but it could be a growth spurt too. The longest gap was just under 3hrs this morning. I am literally drained!!!

TheDetective · 08/12/2012 19:55

oh chunky, i really feel for you! lots of sympathy from detective!

yw, we seem to have one good and one bad night here too... tonight is bad nights turn Hmm.

had a lovely afternoon, really makes a difference having no school run and having nowhere to be on time for! chilled out completely now!

oscar has just had a bath, and is having his first feed from the 3pm one! and we are watching the mcfly show and going to watch the xfactor final in mo mcfly are my secret guilty pleasure from a rock bird. oscar is also in his brothers very first sleep suit that he wore from birth, the only thing i have from ds! there were few tears putting it on!

eeeeh! not sure when we are fitting tea in to this lot... it has to be made by me, dp can't do it!!

ps. bepanthan or metanium for nappy rash, which do you rate?

Catbag · 08/12/2012 20:11

My sister (who is lodging with us at the mo) has just called from Manchester General hospital to tell me that she's had a car accident. She went down earlier this afternoon to go to a friend's birthday do. Seems a car pulled in front of her in the middle lane of the M60, far too close. She slammed on the brakes but was definitely going to rearend it, so tried to swerve away to the left to get into the slow lane. She must have panicked and swerved too hard because the car went into a spin and performed several revolutions before rolling down the embankment at the side of the motorway and coming to rest on its roof. A car behind her stopped and the driver got her out of the car, cutting the seatbelt which was refusing to release her, and then called the ambulance. She is ok apart from cuts and bruises, although the matter of fact way in which she recounted these details makes me think that she's in shock. DH has just despatched himself to Manchester to go and rescue her. It's two hours south of us, so unlikely they'll be back before midnight. Does anyone else's younger sibling put the fear of god into them? This is the second time she's had a fairly serious accident on a motorway in 4 years. I'll be a nervous wreck by the time my kids start driving (which could be as soon as four years away!)

Catbag · 08/12/2012 20:13

detective I've tried both- metanium, hands down

Bryzoan · 08/12/2012 20:13

It's day 12 in the big brother house... And I still feel so broken. Feeding is broadly going well and g is putting on weight well but my right nipple is really sore - even after his Tongue tie snip. And my stitches and insides are still really sore - though thankfully I can at last now poo without panicking I'll burst open.

Dd is being a darling - but she's 2.5 and can't walk - and carrying her is not helping my already trashed stomach muscles. Plus I'm finding it so hard splitting my time between the 2 of them. She needs help with speech as well as walking and it feels like I'm short changing her and g. I wish there was one of me for each of them ... And maybe another to tidy the train wreck of a house, keep up with the washing, and get some sleep!

TheDetective · 08/12/2012 20:24

Shitting hell Cat. She is so lucky - been in a similar situation through snow, right near where your sister was.. luckily didn't end up on roof. Christ. She will be in shock, definitely. Why aren't her insurance company getting her home btw? If she is so far from you, they should get her home. Obviously you probably just want to go get her rather than her waiting for insurance to sort out though! Hope she got the dickheads reg, although I suspect probably not :( Did the other driver behind see anything or get any details?

God she is lucky - all that went through my mind when I crashed was what if there was another car, or worse a HGV in the other lane I spinned/swerved in to. It doesn't bear thinking about. She is probably thinking similar.

Lots of painkillers and hugs when she gets home!

BTW. Was hoping you'd sat bepanthan, as been using metanium for 2 days and it isn't improving. I suspect it is because he is going longer between changes as he goes a little longer between feeds. Am loathe to change him earlier, but might have to I guess!

VQ Bastards - are they thick? Coming to see a baby who has just come out of hospital and still unwell, and bringing a bug in to the house... IDIOTS!!

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 20:38

detective metanium every time.

cat wow. Thank goodness she is ok. Not nice Thanks

bryzoan that sounds hard. It is hard having two or more, especially if one has additional needs. I have a 2.5yo who cannot stay still for a moment or indeed stop making noise. I have been known to winge about this, but thinking of your LO I shall stop and be grateful. Actually she has just puked everywhere, as has new baby. Great. Both due to coughing though. Not a bug. I hope. Hope your sore bits are soon better. I can imagine DD is a weight to contend with.

My episiotomy from 6 years ago still hurts sometimes - yet another reason why I am grateful for the sun roof.

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 20:39

detective yes they are thick. DH got all the brains. Damn I am a bitch sometimes!

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 20:51

The night before last DH pissed the bed as he was 'so very tired' Hmm comments on a postcard.

Bryzoan · 08/12/2012 20:51

Thanks vq. I'll stop feeling so sorry for myself now I've had some sympathy Smile. Sounds like your inlaws are as much to contend with as dd's needs though. They are barking. I wouldn't let them come tomorrow either.

Cat - sorry to hear about the accident.

And mm - sorry to hear about the lipstick. Would almost be funny if it wasn't so infuriating...

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 08/12/2012 20:52

detective thanks, & used all 3 major nappy rash cream. Personally, prefer bepanthen as preventative, sudocrem as a day to day treatment (for everything, spots, piles, dry skin, veruccas - chanelling the dad from my big fat Greek wedding Xmas Grin) and metanium if it gets bad.

bryzoan can empathise. Feel like I'm totally ignoring DD & she's a bright, independent little thing, perfectly happy to occupy herself and I feel guilty for just letting her watch DVDs/cBeebies all day long whilst DS is permanently on the tit. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you. Hugs.

Bryzoan · 08/12/2012 20:52

Vq - send him to his mum's.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 08/12/2012 20:53

Shock & Hmm VQ

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 20:54

bryzoan Grin that was my first thought I must admit.

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 20:56

detective of course if you used cloth nappies, it would be a rare thing to get nappy rash.

Bryzoan · 08/12/2012 20:58

Thanks chunky. She is amazing and very gorgeous - just like a younger child in some ways though. So it's not much different to just having a smaller age gap - except she's heavier and I feel a bit more guilty /sad about having less time with her.

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/12/2012 21:00

Arghh please say other people's evenings are going like this: feed, fuss around, stare at things, cry, feed, fuss around, doze, wake up, feed, fuss etc etc since 4PM!!

Even tried a dummy, she spits it out and gets cross so I feed her but she doesn't really want it she's tired but will only fall asleep with the boob it seems, at one month old she's got this habit already Hmm

FatimaLovesBread · 08/12/2012 21:09

I'd say metanium detective but that may be because I've got a vested interest in it Wink

I was on the M60 yesterday, sme crazy driving going on, I kept pressing my imaginary brakes Grin

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 08/12/2012 21:11

I've just burst into tears watching the fecking xfactor!! No idea why!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/12/2012 21:12

cat that sounds super scary I hope she is ok. Defo a cuddle fest when she gets home.

MM I don't let DH near the washing either seeing how he does his own! However it sounds like your DP is making massive efforts to be helpful so I think he wold probably earn a reprieve on this occasion! Out of interest do you find yourself sticking with the full version of Matilda rather than shortened ones? I called myMatilda, Matilda because, I like it obviously but I also liked the abbreviations and I thought she would be a Tilly, but Matilda has stuck and she doesn't like people to shorten it though toddlers, only, are allowed to call her Tilda.

VQ my epis still hurts on occasion too, I am hoping that this birth might have magically overwritten it and it won't do that hurty tight thing anymore. Don't know where I have got that idea from, it just sounded like a good one.

For the first night in days I managed to settle Olly at normal bed time, 7pm, ran bath and all good, hooray, I think I have my evening back until I hear whimper from DS1 and what sounds suspiciously like a vomit fest. Xmas Confused it was indeed. He is now downstairs snuggling with daddy after I have changed his bed twice. Poor mite.

If it is not one is the other.

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 21:13

izzy because they are so shite?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/12/2012 21:14

VQ,Xmas Shock really

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2012 21:16

Yep. Might have been something to do with the copious amount of alcohol consumed as well, but he denies this.
