Don't think I boosted sufficiently lastnight poor baby was soaked when he woke up this morning!!!!!

wabbitt · 27/05/2006 17:01

hello all

it has been quiet here - thanks for the link Mummyhill Smile

so - what have the wabbity household been up to???

I've broken my wrist! Fractured the scarphoid bone.
Can you believe it?

Exam on tues at 2pm and another on Sat 30th I'm going to attempt the Tuesday one I think, depending on whether they'll let me use a PC - i can't hold a pen as the thumb is set positioned away from the palm - it's all very immobile - I can't spread my hand over the keyboard in normal touch typing position - but it's just about possible to type. Just depends on how much it hurts to do this over 3 hours.

I can only imagine that this has happened for a reason

Hope everyone else find themselves well xxx

Simplyred · 27/05/2006 20:59

How did you break your wrist Wabbitt? I'm so sorry as it will make your exams so complicated!

Sadly I cant now make the London meet on 25th July - I've just realized its a Tuesday and I'll be doing my Slimming World classes - but still good for the 14th in Chester xxxx

mummyhill · 28/05/2006 05:45

Ohh wabbitt glad you FINALY got that wrist looked at you suspected scarphoid was bust last time we met up. Have they stuck you in plaster and told you off?????? How are you coping? I bet N is being a superstar and helping loads. My little N keeps asking after her and D's baby friend. Take care hun will call you sometime durring the week.

PiccadillyCircus · 28/05/2006 07:54

Wabbitt, poor you. My mum broke her wrist a few years ago and I know it was very painful.

Squawks coming from the living room so I had better investigate...

Hi all, long time no talk. Hope all of you and families are all ok. Not caught up on all the gossip yet. Supposed to moving house in about 6 weeks so am hoping to get my internet back, fingers crossed. Going to watch jeremy kyle show being filmed on thuirsday in manchester, can't wait, i love him and i'm so excited!
Any other babies walking around the furniture yet? Mia has been doing it for several weeks now (she'll be 9 months next sunday). I can't believe how rapid she is. she's been crawling for about 5 weeks now, has 6 teeth and has taken 3 steps with her v tech walker before collapsing in a heap LOL

wabbitt · 28/05/2006 12:04

Yes Mummyhill - re-stressed the fracture whilst picking C out of the car in carseat... just twisted it wrong - it's all calcified where the original fracture was and restricted the range of movement... it's now like a stress fracture - wont heal without a rest from use... even hurts to wiggle my fingers now... I feel so pathetic! I was told off! the consultant was a larger than life aussie, really took the mickey for me trying to be supermum!

The cast is one of the synthetic fibre glass ones... absolutely rigid but much lighter than a plaster of paris one - which really helps...

Hello Bubbles... Mia sounds super - C is standing with help and walks across the room just holding onto fingers. He's crawling and pulling himself up on furniture, he loves to find something at kneeling height and plays like that for ages. He's not into sitting on his bottom at all and playing on the ground.

Bumps and babies friends have the V-tech walker and keep trying to tell me to get one, but my house is only little and he'd be bumping into things left right and centre.

SR - sorry I forgot, thanks for telling me about london meet... will so love to meet you in Chester though. The original break was done when I hit a pot hole in the road whilst driving. steering wheel pulled out of my hand and caused the fracture. Pot hole right on the approach to a junction so just where you're changing gear Sad

Oh and Bubbles - can you make the Chester Meet on 14th July?

Have a great Bank Holiday all xxx

bubbles2904 · 28/05/2006 12:20

not sure wabbit, we're buying a house and are hoping to complete around then but i will try :)

milward · 28/05/2006 20:43

Hope you're ok Wabbit xxx what an awful thing to happen. Hope you will be better soon. Good luck with the exams xxx

Sorry not to have posted here for some time. Here still thinking of if we can buy the house to renovate.

Ds4 has a new top tooth just through! 8 months already!!

Simplyred · 28/05/2006 22:48

Wow your babies are doing loads!

Rachel loves to stand - when we hold her - she can't quite crawl but snakes around the floor! She has 3 teeth on the way - and likes to clap and wave! She turned 8 months on the 18th - its scary!

I'm doing well lossing the baby weight - I've lost 1 stone 10 lbs since christmas - and I'm now aiming to lose another stone.
Have a great bank holiday.

Best of luck Wabbitt with the exams and the wrist!

milward · 28/05/2006 22:52

Hi Sr - does your little one get red cheeks or a temperature with her teeth coming through? ds4 has this everytime so far!

Good going on the weight loss. I've got a few kilos to go until I'm pre-baby. Seem to lose some & then regain it! Not on a diet just trying to stop snacking :)

Kiwifruit · 29/05/2006 02:20

Hi All

It's been months since I posted, or even read the thread - Hi to everyone, have just been doing some skim reading, and sounds like all is going well.

We're now pretty settled in NZ, but getting itchy feet and already talking about 'when we move back to the UK' - honestly, a 5th move from one side of the world to the other may just be a move too far! Think it might be a case of the grass is always greener...

Charlotte is great - she's 8 months today. She now has 2 teeth (with another on the way), and has been craling (commando style) for over a month now, which is a nightmare Grin. Think I liked it better when she didn't move, and wasn't on solids! She seems to have an inbuilt radar for all of the things that she shouldn't be touching, and makes a beeline for them as soon as she gets put on the floor! Sleeping has been a bit of a challenge the last few weeks - she has slept through from 7pm until 7am pretty much since 12 weeks, with a dream feed at 10ish. Have tried to cut out the dream feed, but that has resulted in waking about 1am and 5am. Have gone back to the dream feed, as was turning into a sleep deprived psychopath Grin. Think I will start doing the dream feed 15 mins earlier every couple of days until it gets to within 1 hour of her bed time, then drop it. Anyone got any other ideas?

Not back at work yet, as I don't have a job to go back to. Think I might think about going back after Christmas - have a few possible jobs lined up, the trick is sorting out daycare, which is as scarce as hens teeth for under 2s in Auckland. In the meantime, am about to start looking after a friend's 2 year old 1 day a week, which will give me some pocket money (which I think I shall spend at the beauty therapist, and invest in a little self maintenance...).

Hope you're all well - C just starting to stir from her nap, so had better go and rescue her.

mummyhill · 29/05/2006 09:08

Welcome back Kiwifruit glad to hear everything is ok with you and C.

Wabbitt - Hugs to you hun.

Bubbles if you can't make chester and it's not to far try the west midlands picnic in Sutton Park there is a link to it further down the thread.

D is off his food atm and is so clingy. Cries at the slightest thing and will only take milk and lots of it. He has been a little constipated too but am having trouble getting him to drink juice/water or to take any of the syrup of figs (tried putting it in his milk but he spat it out and wouldn't have any more till I gave him a fresh bottle). Any suggestions please?

We put D in an old fashioned walker and zooms round the room backwards chuckling. He sits well on his own now but is showing no interest in crawling. He kind ok bum shuffles though.

PiccadillyCircus · 30/05/2006 15:06

Nice to hear from you again Kiwifruit and glad things are well.

Tooth number two is coming...

Just managed to have a nap on the sofa with DS while Alice slept (in her cot Smile) and he is still asleep which is good).

Alice doesn't move at all but I feel she will soon (I have asked her to stay immobile for as long as possible Grin).

beatie · 02/06/2006 20:32

:)

beatie · 02/06/2006 20:46

A million apologies for my recent absence. I hate to neglect this site.

I've been studying a lot and trying not to get sucked into other MN topics although I'm finding the camping thread addictive. We're going camping next weekend Shock It will be my first experience of camping with a young baby so wish us luck!

DH has been on half term holiday this week so I've been granted some daytime hours in which to study. Very nice. I need to find a childminder this summer for Alice come September. Only for 2 mornings per week so I can study whilst dd1 is at Pre-school. Still, the idea saddens me, even though dd1 was only 6 months when I left her in a nursery for the first time. I know it will be fine when I find someone nice to leave Alice with, it's just the thought of it.

Guess what?....... Alice has got the hang of daytime naps!!!!!!! Grin Go Alice! I think, it may be a fluke, and down to a growth-spurt BUT I think it has made her realise waking lightly then rolling back over (figuratively) to sleep isn't such a bad thing to do.

No teeth. No rolling, no crawling no shuffling. But we don't mind. She has beautiful big blue eyes which everyone comments on and fair curls on the top of her head. I could eat her up.

DD1 seems to be coming out of the troublesome-three phase. She's been much more agreeable and likeable lately. She's really changing in so many ways. Watching her and Alice interact together is such a joy. I love having two children.

.... which brings me onto another topic. I keep dreaming about having a third baby. It's causing me all sorts of angst. Perhaps it is because I have heard of 3 friends' pregnancies in the past fortnight. One with her 2nd, one with her 3rd (although she lost the 2nd at birth) and one with her 4th! I look to my future and see it as a family of 4. Me, Dh and our two girls. The future looks bright and fun and I'm excited to be able to plan things for when we don't have a little baby to juggle SOOOOO, why won't these niggles for a third go away. I want them to go away. Please let me stop dreaming about a 3rd baby.

beatie · 02/06/2006 20:59

......just some more rambling on from me.

I spoke to my haelth visitor at Alice's 8 month check about how I had been feeling. She was great. I told her how I didn't think I was depressed since I know how that truly feels. Plus, my mood was able to be lifted fairly easily on any given day if I was given time to myself. She said it most most likely stress and she said she wished PND was called Postnatal Stress, since depression is only one manisfestation of stress. Anxiety is another.

The anxiety is still there at least every other day (for part of the day). It's not a huge deal, I'm just aware of a very physical sensation, fight or flight butterlies with no reason to feel them. i.e. I'm not worried about anything in life at present.

As for mood enhancement, I started to take a vitamin B50 complex and a multi-vitamin and mineral with a good dose of calcium in it. I do feel more in control of my emotions already and haven't bitten anyone's head off recently Grin

Zinc and calcium were recommended by the HV as being good for relieving PMS, so hopefully I'm sorted for next time that comes around.

Sorry to go on and not do personals. I just thought some of this info. might be useful to others.

Any other tmi info. from me? Oh yes, I get to have the fun of booking appt. to have a smear test/IUD fitting/check my birth-wound really healed - all in one go! I'm working up to it. I should book it soon. :(

Best go, Celebrity X Factor sadly has me hooked. It's the only Tv I watch...honestly. Oh, and Desperate Housewives Grin

mummyhill · 03/06/2006 01:11

Beatie - thanks for the reminder need to book my smear leter came through durring the week.

mummyhill · 03/06/2006 09:51

Morning all.

Bright sunshine here enjoy it whilst you can if you are sharring this rarity and think of me stuck at work till 8pm.

wabbitt · 04/06/2006 02:05

Hello

sorry not to have posted - I've been at my sisters who swooped in to take me to hers whilst my arm is pretty much out of action. It's surprised me how much it's upset me, there's so much I can't do on my own Sad

Changing my wiggley boy! Bathing him, Picking him up or stopping him toppling over... It's hit me hard.

Exams aren't happening. I can't hold a pen to write - the cast has immobilised my thumb completely - and my typing is so hampered, though now it doesn't hurt as much as it did last week, I keep making typos and having to delete and re-type, in an exam this would be so time consuming. This is something else i'm having to get my head around... another delay and no summer feeling of relief having sat the exams (I've been looking forward to that)

Sorry this is a real moan...

Beatie - so glad to hear Alice is snoozing in the daytime x

Mummyhill - what a shame you had to miss this lovely weather x

love to all xxx

jaamy · 04/06/2006 08:35

Hello Everyone!
Hope you're all enjoying this weather - looks like today is going to be another hot one! Mummyhill - hope you get to see some sun today.
Wabbitt - moan away!...feel so bad for you. You've worked really hard for these exams and now can't get them over and done with. When will you be able to sit them again? And poor you missing out on C things. BUT I'm sure that if you rest your hand it will be better much sooner than if you'd have struggled on with your exams and normal C activity will be resumed shortly! Big gold star to your sister. How's she coping with the pg? It is your sister that's pg, isn't it?
Hi Beatie!!! - Daytime naps...so Envy. Would really love an hour during the day just to catch up. Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit more on top of things (am going to try the supplements you recommended, ta!) and DD1 is settling down a bit - gives me hope for my 2yo!
Kiwifruit - how lovely to hear from you! Can't believe you're already talking about moving back, though, you little jetsetter! A DF is trying to come to terms with a move to the andipodes later this year. She's doing it without children (but with soontobe DH)though and still dreading it!
SR - LOL at your hiding shopping spoils from DH - just like me! Yes, we're full of cold bugs here. Not nice in the good weather.
Bubbles - good to hear you're doing ok. Good luck with the house move. Hope you get to make it to the CHester meet. Sounds like there's no stopping Mia!
DD2 has 3 teeth now and another just about to pop through. Almost starting to crawl now. Can't believe she's nearly 8 months old!
Building work going swimmingly - just waiting for something to go wrong.
Not won lottery so still working 3 days a week!!!
Hope everyone is ok.
x

wabbitt · 04/06/2006 22:31

Oh what a noodle I am - missed you there kiwifruit - Commando style crawling, is that on feet and hands? Conrad's very mobile now too - so cute - he always heads straight for the dvd player and the remote controls - already the man of the house you see Wink

Thanks jaamy - needed a good old whinge - feel so much better today, the lovely weather helps and the fact that we bought C a quinny Zapp which is so much lighter to wheel about - been a lovely long walk this evening Smile

Mummyhill - I hope you had a good day in the sun today too - hugs to you all at MH towers!

Beatie - it's facinating about your dream of a third baby - is it anxiety? you say you've not yet got your IUD fitted - could it be linked?

Conrad's got his 8 month check on Thursday - despite being nearly 9 calendar months! Have you all had yours already? how did they go?

Nighty night - off to have a one handed bath (makes me grateful for not having broken my leg!) then to bed

xxx
