Another little cluster monster here. Was on for about 2 hours this morning. Expressing now. The whole two formula feeds during the night plan doesn't seem to be working either anymore. Think it might be what is making her throw up during the night. She (so far) isn't sick at any other time & never with breast milk (from me directly or expressed). Do you think the formula is too harsh for her?

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 12:27

spotty you're making it out of bed at some point in the day aren't you? What more of a routine does he expect?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 12:29

You could mix some formula with some ebm and try that?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 12:30

Scheduled naps and feeds Hmm yes I did that with dd but she was such a sleepy baby she needed it! Also she was bottle fed so totally different. Grrr and yes not only am I out of bed I'm dressed with washed hair and make up on!

WeeJo08 · 15/12/2012 12:55

Really? Can the two be mixed?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 13:04

Yeah I think so? I may be being stupid Blush maybe google?!

WeeJo08 · 15/12/2012 13:05

Odds are it's me being stupid! Grin Am googling now, shall report back!

Walnut8 · 15/12/2012 13:10

Hi all, havent read or posted much recently as have been too busy/tired. Hope you are all going well though and welcome to the new arrivals. Online doing christmas shopping now but must go to bed! Midnight here and next feed I expect will be soon. A is a sleepy baby though, which worries me a little. Not used to it, wondering if it's just the jaundice? All she does is sleep, wake to feed and then fall straight back asleep. Anyone else? She has regained her birth weight at a week old, so feeding okay.... Confused

Secondsop · 15/12/2012 13:18

honey I've got the medela electric "swing" pump.

CODwidow · 15/12/2012 13:22

spotty I'm with you dd doesn't open her mouth wide enough to latch so I have to wait until she's screaming but then she head thrashing so it's awkward.

Well this time last week I was arriving at the hospital, how time flies Sad

Afrodizzywonders · 15/12/2012 13:26

Walnut, mine is 8 days old and slightly jaundiced, I'm waking her every 2.5 hours and feeding her rather than waiting for her to wake, just go make sure the bilirubin is flushed out of her quicker, when that's done I'll go to feed on demand.

Breastfeeding is going well, had some very shaky days, 2 days of hellish crying, turns out she wasn't getting much of the hind milk which can maket them really gassy so I've been using breast compression to make sure she gets it and things are a million times better! Latch is sorted after blood blister nipple hell.

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 15:42

spotty hair washed and makeup? You're officially kicking my ass! I never used to leave the house without concealer and mascara on, now that's only for special occasions!

seconds I think some people have more trouble expressing than others, completely irrelevant as to whether bf or not. I've been lucky but would say persevere and maybe get in touch with bf group?

Dash was really jaundiced to begin with and was very sleepy and didn't really wake for feeds. Soon turns around Confused

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 15:44

Oh, is it normal for baby to end up with a wet collar/shoulder when breastfeeding from milk or do I just have a particularly messy eater?!

brooke89 · 15/12/2012 16:20

breastfeeding lady linked me to this website and i found it really interesting -

Also recommended this book for help with settling baby apparently it is the best thing ever!

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 16:34

According to the October baby thread (where I lurked while waiting for more December babies) the toy Ewan the sheep is absolutely magical at making babies sleep. I may be investing so shall let you know!

EggNogMichelle · 15/12/2012 17:42

My mil mentioned the Ewan the sheep to me yesterday, she is buying it for Felix for Christmas. Does look good, although he is sleeping lots now I assume it is the jaundice and will be pleased for the sheep when he is older!

Feeling disheartened by his feeding, never know if we are doing well or not and this constant weighing is making me very nervous. Fx he will be back in the 10% range tomorrow and bf can be enjoyable rather than the stressful chore it is at the moment.

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 17:43

I just found Dash's dummy in my bra... Confused wtf?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 17:50

Felix's cord still hasn't fallen off he'll be three weeks on Monday! It's starting to come away but it doesn't look ready underneath Confused its all pale and doesn't look like dry skin (I don't think I'm explaining myself very well!)

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 17:52

Dash's still looked very pale when it came off. He was about 3 weeks too.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 17:56

Ok I will stop worrying! Seeing HV Monday anyway Smile

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 18:00

I think it's like when a scab comes off - the skin underneath always takes a day of two to look like othe skin :)

EggNogMichelle · 15/12/2012 18:18

My Felix's cord came off at 5days but still looked moist underneath. It's dried out now but looked grim to start with!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/12/2012 18:28

Oh yes like after a scab! How many baths are you given your babies? We've only done one so far and that was on Tuesday. He cried and poor dd burst into tears! Hourly feeding has commenced dp is going to get a Chinese once dd is in bed stupid Chinese is twenty minutes away!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 15/12/2012 19:08

Michelle, you can refuse weighing - the specialist bf mw here counsels against it more than once a month. Ebf babies grow in their own time so as long as you're getting regular wet and dirty nappies, and he's feeding lots, leave it :)

Bath about once a week here just to get him used to it. Will be nightly dunk in warm water when he's ready for a proper bedtime routine.

HoneyMumandSon · 15/12/2012 19:20

When are we supposed to be doing a bedtime routine?!!
