I loved kate's thread name but thought we needed a birthday theme for this one. We'll soon have 6 weeks of birthdays to celebrate!

Glad to hear the bugs are disappearing Aethel!

I have a nosy inquisitive and adventurous one here too Kate! She has a lovely bruise on her cheek today but I have no idea how she got it?!

I must be massively run down. In the last 2 weeks I've had a chest infection, viral infection, gastroenteritis and now I have the beginnings of a particularly nasty head cold sitting on my sinuses. I bought some heavy duty decongestants today which have cleared it slightly but already my nose is starting to get sore and cracked! When will it end?!?!

Freya did another huge wet icky tummy poo again today though so my excitement about the semi-solids yesterday was short-lived!

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 24/12/2012 10:23

Oh no missree looks like you're set for a poorly Christmas then.

DH and DS have gone to pick up the turkey, me and DD are just finishing tidying up.

Happy Christmas Eve!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/12/2012 10:45

Oh MissRee, you poor things! My recommendation is to splash out on the Kleenex Balm/Basalm tissues; I used to scoff at DP doing this when he had a cold cos he is such a big girls blouse but it does actually stop you looking like Rudolph, promise. I'd still be happy about the poo, takes a while for it to get properly better, so she's made a good start.

And a virtual-hug-at-a-distance for aethel and family- God, norovirus is grim. Hope you're well enough to enjoy festivities.

I gave DS a bottle of cow's milk too Cheung and he guzzled it. Won't take it from his sippy cup though Xmas Hmm, only water, so we'll stick with the bottles for milk for a while yet.

Xmas at my Dad's was grand, bar nearly being run over in the dark on the way back from a coffee shop (down pitch black country lanes in the rain) and my little sister's boyfriend's parents coming over early, which interrupted our dinner, and his Dad was soooooooooooooo pissed. It was only half 8 and he was catatonic. Poor lad was mortified, I felt so sorry for him.

Xmas here will be me, Mum and DS- DS is being dropped off this afternoon and we'll take him out into our little country town, get a few last minute groceries and pop into a pub (it's the sort of countryside place where everyone goes, so it's not as alchie as it sounds!). On the day itself, we'll unwrap presents, and then DP will come and pick up DS and take him to his parents'. Mum and I will then chill and I'll cook Xmas dinner...which we'll have with Doctor Who Xmas Grin!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 24/12/2012 11:03

DSM, could you possibly be pg now?

Northen, our DS is the same, will only take water from the sippy cup, milk has to be in bottles.

MissRee, I smear my nose in vaseline when I've got a cold..it really helps with the cracking.
Help all of yours and Aethel's are better soon.

We're at the inlaws, DS is having a nap and we're watching a crap Tom Cruise film.
I lost some of my mucus plug on Sat, had cramping, but since then feel a lot better, so just trying to relax and not move much....although if it's not going to be successful pg I'd rather get it over with now.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/12/2012 11:40

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 24/12/2012 13:30

DSM they don't always have to break to fail. I was 8 days late before I got a positive with Eva.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/12/2012 14:01

Will test again next week if still no period x

KateKringle · 24/12/2012 14:05

Merry Christmas everyone! All food shopping, preparatory cooking and cleaning done, time to just put our feet up until the chaos of tomorrow now.

Just one small hurdle....I need to convince DD that she does want to hang up her stocking tonight and she does want father Christmas to come. She was terrified when she et him a few weekas ago so I think she's scared by the thought of him visiting during the night. I've tried suggesting she hang her stocking outside her room but she's still having none of it Xmas Confused

GaryBuseysTeeth · 24/12/2012 15:01

Kate, do you have a chimney? I know Father Christmas can't get into houses without chimneys unless mum or dad is awake to let him in, so at least when he's walking around the house you'll make sure he doesn't come into her room?

Also explains why she might see mummy putting presents in her stocking!

The whole 'he sees you when you're sleeping' terrified me when I was younger.

KateKringle · 24/12/2012 15:17

Gary thanks for the idea. We do have a chimney (or 3!) though. It never bothered me as a kid, but thinking about it, it's easy to see why the whole idea could be terrifying!

KateKringle · 24/12/2012 16:35

Crisis averted. We have stuck a note on her bedroom door asking father Christmas nit to come in. Her stocking is outside the door!

OiMissus · 24/12/2012 16:41

Before I read back and try to catch up properly, time is upon us, so - have a fabulous Christmas mummies!
Thank you once again for all the help, support, merriment and buckets of virtual coffee you have provided over the year.
I hope that you all have wonderful, magical Christmasses, that your DH's are loving and generous, and that the sneezing- and vomit-monsters disappear!
Merry Christmas! Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

FestiveFiggy · 25/12/2012 22:29

Well I appear to have broken the thread DS has been a nightmare today he finally went to sleep after 10 after a 2hr battle, the like of which has never been seen before input house. I've had 2 glass of champers all day and still have a headache going to bed imminently and hoping DS sleeps well Sad

ChristmasIsForPlutocrats · 25/12/2012 22:37

Happy Christmas, all, plu back at long last, although I've been thinking of you all, particularly with all our birthdays, past and still to come! Xmas Smile I've tried a few times to catch up with the thread, but it's just impossible to do in one sitting, even now with loads of maternity leaves over and done with, new babies starting (and finishing Sad), illness taking its toll, Christmas to prepare ( and now to recover from), house moving, school starting... still the thread keeps up!
Here, we've had one house purchase fall through (well, we pulled out, before the house itself could fall through... or the floor) and are starting another ourchase, but the main thing was getting to the bottom of DD's explosive poos and failure to thrive, which we finally did in May, thanks to a family contant in Srbija: it was reflux from the bladder towsrd one of her kidneys, which also seems damaged, and a massive urine infection. Antibiotics made an immediate impact, and she stopped the poosplosions and evidence of abdominal discomfort, and finally learned to roll over at about 6m. Started gaining weight, too - my heaven, she loves her food (having been weaned on antibiotics, she can tolerate bitterness to an extraordinary degree).

Gah, sorry, that's not very cheerful-sounding, but it is great tidings of great joy!

Happy Christmas, all!

ChristmasIsForPlutocrats · 25/12/2012 22:39

P.S. How d'you like the Recession Christmas themed nickname?! Xmas Wink

MissChristmastRee · 25/12/2012 23:09

Lovely to see you Plu! Sorry to hear DD has been so poorly but glad she's better now Grin

Today has been crazy Confused just got home with a very excited wee man who is very much looking forward to opening the rest of his presents. We saved Freya's until tomorrow so they can open them together. So the madness starts again in the morning...
