I loved kate's thread name but thought we needed a birthday theme for this one. We'll soon have 6 weeks of birthdays to celebrate!

missree swallowing a lot of mucus is likely to cause explosive poos, though presumably it could well also be a side effect of the anti-b's.

figgy I know he won't know any different but I'd still be a bit annoyed, especially after you spent so long stressing about the -damn-- party bags. Anyway I hope he had a lovely party without them.

After I posted yesterday Eva's rash got much worse, I thought a bath would help, got her in then noticed it was all over her legs and arms too. I phoned the surgery again, they said it was likely an allergic reaction to the daktarin, and prescribed anti-histamines but said try not to give them until today if possible. She woke at 1am, her face was covered in it too and she was writhing around clearly very itchy :(. She had the anti-histamines, it seems to have stopped itching but the rash is still there. Any ideas how long it will take to go? It's really red and looks so angry, I've got DH bringing home calamine lotion which I thought might help soothe it?

I think the street collection went ok, I'll count it once the DCs are in bed. So cold though!!

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 15/12/2012 17:53

Found time while they were having tea, £165.44. We stopped quite early, the generosity vastly decreased after lunchtime when there were far more snobbish second-home types around than locals. I got a dirty look off someone then overheard her say "you'd think this town would be excempt from street collectors", and someone even put money in my friends empty cup which she stood down after she'd finished her tea! For anyone unfamiliar with southwold it's a cafe, posh boutique and majority of second-homes type of place.

AnAirOfHopeInAManger · 15/12/2012 18:46

Hopes rash started to fade after 24 hours and gone in 48 but i think its indiviual so any thing from 30 minutes to a week!

The antiH should make it go faster.

Get better soon all lo's

jigglebum · 15/12/2012 20:17

Im shattered. V poorly freya here. Was up with her for 4 hours in a row last night, including changing her cot and clothes twice due to puking. Been another day of coughing and puking and washing. She looks terrible and cant keep much down and has lost her voice, she can hardly cry as she is so hoarse. I was all for taking her to the out of hours this morning but DH is so annoyingly anti anything medical and she perked up a bit so we didnt. Now she wont sleep unless being held. Currently sleeping on me whilst I type. I have sent dh to bed as he had the option of early or late shift with her. I cannot do all night again.

DH still has a cold and feeling sorry for himself. DS still has horrid cough. I am fed up of illness and can just see myself succumbing (sp?) over christmas due to exhaustion.

Cant remember who asked re rashes but 48 hours in my experience and they are generally gone. And missree I find mucus, illness and antibiotics can all led to horrid nappies.

FestiveFiggy · 15/12/2012 20:24

Can't believe there's so much poor health nastiness around for everyone Sad hope they all feel better soon.

Party went well lo seemed to enjoy it as did the others, he has a big balloon to beat the crap out of and a few best friends came round afterward for pizza and hot dogs oh and mince pies some peeps r still here so about to have a few drinks!! DS just gone to bed now and there's a bottle of wine with my name on it in the fridge Grin

LittleMissKitschmas · 15/12/2012 20:26

Sorry there's so much lurgy about. We're full of plague too. Went to out of hours with my chest today abs I've been sent home with antibiotics, steroids, a spare ventolin and instructions to double my purple inhaler and rather worryingly to call an ambulance if ten puffs of ventolin don't work.

I don't think it's going to come to that, but I can't argue at the dictor's thoroughness! It's an awesome out of hours, they rock:)

jigglebum · 15/12/2012 20:41

Regretting not going with my gut instinct and taking her to out of hours as calpol not doing anything now and she is getting quite distressed . Have phoned and waiting for a call back. Know they cant do anything but can book us in to out of hours tom am.

MissChristmastRee · 15/12/2012 21:14

Feel better soon poorly beebs and peeps Hmm

I just had a thought - DP has a blue inhaler for asthma. If I have a couple of squirts will it help stop me coughing? I'm not usually one for taking other people's medicine but inhalers aren't harmful, are they???

Aethelfleda · 15/12/2012 23:21

Evening! misree, yep, antibiotics make poo yucky I'm afraid. seven, antihistamines wear off after a bit so you'll probably need to give it (?piriton?) regularly for a few days while the rash fades. Piriton is twice daily in little ones this age, checl woth your dr if there arent instructions on the packet.

to all the bugs about!!

Aethelfleda · 15/12/2012 23:34

Oh and misree, ventolin treats wheeze rather than cough. Might give you palpatations though!!

Should be in bed but there's a million things to do and I'm tired but not sleepy. Curse my midnight owl tendencies, going to be knackered tomorrow!

KateKringle · 16/12/2012 08:14

DS is one today Grin. DD is desperate to start 'helping' him open his presents. I'm sure DS won't mind though, he'll be happy enough ripping and eating the paper!

BJR · 16/12/2012 08:24

Glad Freya is home now missree and on the mend. Hope all other poorly babies start to feel better soon (and someone who has older kids please tell me they don't get this poorly every year???). Hope Eva's rash has settled down now Seven.

Had good week here, lots of firsts this week. First proper run round the park in his new wellies, was very exciting. New words and he finally learned to clap, and does it on cue when I sing if your happy and you know it.

Downside to this week was trialing new milk. Resulted in projectile vomiting, rashes and screaming. I persevered for 3 days as symptoms weren't as bad to start but then gave in as it was getting worse. Switched him back to old milk last night and he slept through. No more neocate for us!

Wrapped all christmas presents last night while drinking mulled wine and me and DSS are putting up the tree today. Need to sort out brithday cake for next weekend for the boys birthday party. I'm no good at making cake and not sure where I can find a diary and soya free one.

Hmm DS just wandered up and bit my leg, thats twice this week now. Although maybe hes just showing off his new teeth, two new ones this week and another couple on the way I think.

BJR · 16/12/2012 08:25

X-post. Happy Birthday miniKate! Smile

FestiveFiggy · 16/12/2012 08:39

hohohohawthers · 16/12/2012 08:52

We had a trip to ooh last night f has a nasty temperature andoant grunty breathing. Just like when he had meningitis. I shat myself and panicked so probably totally overeacted by taking hom to ooh but we just too stressed not to.

All fine though despite him still feeling grotty and running a temp

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 16/12/2012 08:55

Happy birthday to your DS kate!

Thanks for the well wishes and rash info. It's been 48 hours this morning since it started, no sign of it fading yet.

Hope all the other poorly people feel better soon.

AnAirOfHopeInAManger · 16/12/2012 13:03

Seven hope the rash fades soon.

Happy Birthday Minikate Xmas Grin

Congrates to Darcie on her concert xx

Get well soon Finley

Hope can now walk yay Xmas Grin

jigglebum · 16/12/2012 13:30

Happy birthday Minikate

We were also at the ooh this morning. I was feeling a bit of a fraud as made the appointment last night and F seemed loads better this morning (though still ill). However one look at her throat and tontsills confirms quite severe tontsilltis and hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon.

All these walking babies. Think F will be a month off yet. Same as DS (13 months)

Muffinpig · 16/12/2012 13:55

Hi everyone, sorry not posted much recently and this thread dropped off my "I'm on" list so thought I had better post! Not much to report though, been very busy with birthdays and getting ready for Christmas. Spent 3 hours wrapping yesterday and still have more to do. Argh!

So sorry for all the ill babies. I feel a bit of a fraud as DD only had one cold so far...but we had such a bad year last year I think we are due some good health!

And Happy Birthday miniKate!

Went to a nativity service this morning and DS spent the whole time saying very loudly "when's the baby Jesus coming?". Was cute for the first 5 times but it got a bit wearing after an hour...

Phew, both DCs now down for a nap so when DH is off the phone (work) we can watch some crap TV, yay!

MissChristmastRee · 16/12/2012 14:27

Happy Birthday MiniKate Grin

Freya is a million miles from the sweaty, floppy baby we rushed to A&E on Wednesday but watching DP change one of her "antibiotic" nappies last night was hilarious! Much heaving and cries of "I'm gonna be sick, I'm gonna be sick"!!!!!

I have a lovely rash all over my face and legs today! It's itchy as hell. No idea why - I haven't worn makeup for a week or changed skin routine. Very strange but its driving me nuts! Think I'll be slathering my face in sudocreme tonight Confused

MissChristmastRee · 16/12/2012 20:07

It never rains but it pours... Not only have I been a hot itchy mess today but I've just thrown up EVERYWHERE Hmm

OiMissus · 16/12/2012 22:12

Yikes! Hope you're ok soon missree.
Poor poorly babies! Sympathies and hugs in abundance.
BOi has had a cold for 371 days now, but luckily nothing that has had us really scared. .. But it doesn't help his sleeping.
He still needs to be lulled to sleep. We can't put him in his cot when he's awake.
Hang on. DB....

OiMissus · 16/12/2012 22:20

Sorry, David Beckham came on the tv.
Forgot anything else I wanted to say. Or should I say "anythink else".
Aw he's so cute.
Blush

KateKringle · 16/12/2012 23:14

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. We had a lovely day. Managed to spread the presents throughout the day despite DD's efforts to rip them all open instantly. DS loves his new toys and books, and I'm loving having proper boy toys in the house, they always seem much more fun than girls ones to me! The elc whizz around mountain is a particular favourite with us all already

Get well soon to all poorly mums and babes

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/12/2012 08:59

Hope everyone feels better soon.

I'm going to finish off the last of the wrapping today. Including Sky's birthday pressies.

Hope everyone's LO's have had good birthdays so far Smile
