I loved kate's thread name but thought we needed a birthday theme for this one. We'll soon have 6 weeks of birthdays to celebrate!

MissChristmastRee · 15/11/2012 21:58

Just found out a girl got mugged and beaten on my route from work to the coach stop tonight. My friend (who also gets the coach) heard her screaming and went to investigate, to see the bloke running off and the girl (15yrs old) covered in blood. It's a really busy part of London right near Tower Hill.

I'm gonna be scared walking home tomorrow now! I've been walking that way for 3 years now and never had any trouble. I might have to start getting the tube.

mopsytop · 15/11/2012 21:59

Yay seven! That's great news!

NorthernChinchilla · 15/11/2012 22:06

Woo seven, and mini-seven no.3! How lovely for you, congratulations to you and your DP.

By the way, that noise you can hear is the ovaries of a lot of women on this thead Wink

The Ireland case is horrific, you can't imagine what that poor woman went through, mentally and physically.

I'm now far more of a crier that I was as well Oi, I well up easily. The way I feel is the sort of the flip side to you Xiao- I get upset as I know DS has everything he'll ever need in a family who love him and nurture him; it's the rest of the kids round here I get upset for.

For example, one colleague is a governor at a local primary. He reported today that of their nursery intake, not a single one of the babies/toddlers were meeting any of their foundation developmental targets (forgotten the proper name). Not one.

That's horrendous figgy your poor Mum. Let us know how she gets on. I know you've only just been up there, but if you have to go back...Sad

Impetigo is horribly contagious I believe mopsy, sorry. DP's had it and owing to his job wasn't allowed to go in until it had cleared. Really hope it does turn out to be nothing!

jiggle - I was on microgynon for years, no problems with that. I had awful, awful periods but I think that's me (it's a family thing) rather than the pill. Was on the implant and injection, both meant no periods, yay, but weight gain and lowered sex drive, boo. Am now on Cerazette, the one that everyone on here got pregnant on(!) and it too is great- no periods, the weight I'd put on with the others has come off again.

The less said about my day the better, I'm just looking forward to a nice large glass of something tomorrow....

hawthers · 15/11/2012 22:38

I've just started on microgynon but have had loads of breakthrough bleeding. Basically out of the last 4 weeks I had my period (dragged on for a week) a week off then on and off random bleeding now I've got my period again. Hmm Bloody odd. Just hope it improves over the next couple of months.

Aethelfleda · 15/11/2012 22:47

Jiggle, micronor is an old-style progesterone-only minipill: it a) only has a three-hour forgetting window (newer style Cerazette you have twelve hours to remember, same as the combined pills). So its easier to accidentally take late. Also - forgive me cos I don't know how tall/skinny/bulky you are- micronor doesnt work as well in body weights over 70kg ie there's a real risk of it failing even if you take it correctly. So if you are slim and take it religiously it should be ok, but it's easy to trip up with. Cerazette works whatever your body weigjt and is reputed to ease period pain quite well too.
Personally I'm a fan of Mirena coils as they are fab for reducing heavy periods. I did take Cilest for a while before having the kiddies and that worked well for me, but am a bit meh about the faff of taking pills if I can avoid it. It's very individual which pill suits you, the important thing is getting one that works!

Aethelfleda · 15/11/2012 22:48

Ooh and congrats seven, lovely to hear!

And good luck to your mum figgy, how stressful

Night!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/11/2012 07:07

Seven That's great news on both the scan and the flat Smile

Bee Some breads can have milk in just depends which one you buy. The bread we have been given for Sky is Gluten, wheat & dairy free.

Feel pants still but need to go into work today as training day ready for the clinical computer system change on 14th Dec. Aethel Being curious what is your occupation??

Re contraception. Between my children I had a copper coil inserted best thing ever Grin not on any at the moment as at some point in the next 12 months I think we'd like DC3 so no point having a coil fitted yet. After DC3 I'm having a sterilisation anyway. So no more contraception for my body at least Grin

Aethelfleda · 16/11/2012 08:26

take cover!!!

We have had a bad night with lots of wakeups, grumbling and clinginess. Fortunately this morning he cut tooth number six! Hopefully this will make him a happier chappy: we're trying him bacl at the childminders today a full week after his grotty bug. Inset day so will be taking the DDs off for a softplay, if he doesn't settle we can always come and get him back.
(pm coming your way dsm )

OiMissus · 16/11/2012 09:42

We had a horrid night too.
Picked him up from the GPs with grumps. Poor little chap was v v miserable.
during the night, he was just whining constantly. Eyes closed, but non-stop crying, so I brought him into our bed. He stopped whining constantly, but was very restless, and whined every 20 mins instead. So no one got any sleep. Especially as he insisted on keeping a firm grip on me. :(
He seemed OK this morning so he's gone to nursery. Can't wait to pick him up in 3 hours. Let the cuddles commence!

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 16/11/2012 12:20

Thanks all. We won't be making any public announcements though. DH had a horrible time when I was pregnant with Eva with people giving their awful opinions in the pub (where he works, he's not just always in there!) on us being selfish wanting another child despite the risks of md. some of these people even came to our wedding, they still won't speak to him now. Oddly they still try to speak to me, I'm obviously his poor wife being impregnated against her will Hmm. Sorry, that wasn't meant to be quite as ranty. We're certainly not ashamed or hiding it, more acknowledging its nobody else's business, we're only announcing it to people we know will be happy for us and supportive.

dsm no offence meant but have you looked on the labels or is this the advice of your HV? We just buy normal supermarket pre-sliced bread, usually hovis/kingsmill/tesco, I've never found any that contain milk, I don't even bother checking the labels now, and she's so intolerant that I'd definitely know if she'd had it by mistake! The only ones I've found you have to watch out for are the fresh in-store bakery type ones. Some do contain soya though. Out of curiosity what bread does she have, is it rye bread? Intrigued as to what other sort of bread you can make without wheat!

figgy any more news on your mum, or any chance you can get there to see her?

Hope all teethy miserable babies are feeling better soon. Eva still hasn't cut her first one, but I can feel that it's close, she still has an explosive bottom, it's been bad since Sunday now.

MissChristmastRee · 16/11/2012 13:53

How awful Seven, I'm Angry on your behalf! Its your decision whether you have more children, nobody else's and I'm very much of the opinion that if somebody doesn't agree with it, they should bloody well keep their mouth shut!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/11/2012 13:57

Aethel Thanks for your PM Smile

Seven Was on advice of HV. I know most breads are made with veg oils and not milk but I think HV & GP are just helping with the trial.

Well home from work as feel pants still and training went meh...Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 16/11/2012 20:21

Gosh seven, I remember you saying before about how people had been awful during your pregnancy. The real, cave-dwelling views you get sometimes, that seem to be amplified when you're pregnant. And having worked in pubs, I know what it's like!
Every wanted baby is to be celebrated, so we're hanging out the bunting and waving the pom poms for you here Smile. I frankly can't wait to have the vicarious pleasure not jealousy at all oooooh no Wink of your pregnancy.

Crappy night here too; DS woke me at just gone one, went and got him and got into bed. Keeping the double bed in that room has been the best decision ever, with knobs on. But like you Oi, poor thing didn't settle too well, and took ages- it's because he's so snotty, and we think no.9 is coming through. Not that he'll let us look mind.

He fell asleep on the trip down to meet me off the train, bless.

Hope you all had fun at softplay aethel, and did DS do OK at the CM?

Very interesting day workwise here too!

Right, curry and a Wine beckons Grin

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 16/11/2012 20:26

Thanks northern, but just 'cos its the weekend, you don't need to brag about having Wine :o

Aethelfleda · 16/11/2012 20:34

Evening! We went to Here : the DDs ran around like loons for three hours (there's no time limit when it's quiet), munched lunch (they have a basic but nice menu of sarnies/potatoes/kiddy-meals) and then we bought a couple of nice big bulb pots at the next door garden centre so we can plant some in our garden and take some with us if/when we move.

DS did reassuringly well at the childminders, though he was a bit clingier as the day went on than usual. I got him at half five and he was all smiles forthe rest of the evening. Phew. Maybe he'll sleep through tonight for the first time in over a stuffing week

Did you do OK getting back from work today missree? hope so.

Two mOre viewings tomorrow so better get tidying and then bed. Sigh.

MissChristmastRee · 16/11/2012 20:41

Glad to hear the Spawn did well at childminders today Aethel and hope the tidying for viewings isn't too painful!

I got home fine tonight, even if I did look like a paranoid loon looking over my should all the time and trying not to look like a victim Grin

jigglebum · 16/11/2012 20:55

Thanks ladies, interesting thoughts. Will stick with Micronor for a little while and see how it goes. I don't have a problem with having to take it within a 3 hour window as Im up the same time most days. It is more for period regulation than contraception at the moment to be honest!!

seven congrats - glad the scan went well and can't believe people would even consider judging. We are all very pleased for you anyway.

Had such a knackering day today. Freya's sleep is still terrible - was up with her for over 2 hours last night - she thought it was playtime not sleep time. Then she slept in this morning and I went to work before she woke up. work was fine, I enjoy it, but was completely full on all day, with a meeting in break time and teaching at lunch time. Then back home and straight into the cooking tea, bathing them routine. Slightly annoying when DH phones to say he will be late back when I know he will have taken his full hour lunch break. Heh ho - I am off out tomorrow meeting up with some friends.

NorthernChinchilla · 16/11/2012 20:59

Eeeek, forgot about that, sorry seven! Um, hope you enjoy a nice Becks Blue or something Confused?

Do you avoid totally or have the occasional one?

Glad you had fun aethel, and that you're OK MCR. I know your fear though- when I moved here my colleague, who became a good friend, got mugged at the train station that's 30 seconds from where we worked, within about 2 months of me moving down.
Gave me the wibblies for ages.

Figgygal · 16/11/2012 21:13

Hi all just a quick update But mum is better now she had her op last night to repair hernia and perforated bowel and is not being sick anymore and has been out of bed today she on high dependency unit until tomorrow but that should be it Grin

Finished DS bday/Xmas today got a mega pack of mega blocks for £12.50 which was half price and 2 packs of ball pit balls now to convince dh to not let him have the ball pit now!! It is so hard!!!!!!

OiMissus · 16/11/2012 23:49

Good to hear your mum is doing better figgy.
Heart breaking children in need tonight.Sad

LittleMissFlustered · 17/11/2012 07:47

Think I've fixed my profile.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/11/2012 08:24

Good to hear your mum is feeling better Figgy

Today is the day we start Sky on Nutramigen. Mixing it with SMA LF as she's not liking the Nutramigen on its own yet!

I think this sodding Flu cold has hit my chest now. All mucusy, bunged up & hurts to take a deep breath in Sad good thing I'm not at work till Wednesday now, so hopefully it would of passed by then.

Have a good weekend all. Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 17/11/2012 10:59

Aw, the tentacled one is all grown up (and no longer models the box!)

Good to hear your Mum is on the mend figgy, let's hope it continues.

Aethelfleda · 17/11/2012 16:18

we got DS his first little cruiser shoes today: aww, grown up baby!!

OiMissus · 17/11/2012 18:05

BOi isn't happy still. Just grumble-sleeping. Grumbly all day. Lots if tears n red cheeks n chewing of hands. He had some nurofen 30 mins ago. He has a temp of 39... He's just in a vest and pj bottoms n sox. Will test again in 20 mins. Sad any ideas?
