MB how is Johnny this morning?

mawbroon · 10/05/2006 10:45

Morning, thank you for asking for Johnny. He is still the same. His temp is creeping up in between the doses of medicine. He is clingy and just wants my breast all the time so it feels like having a newborn again! He more or less fed with me all night as we co slept and cried if I moved more than an inch away! I am going to be gushing milk when he's back to normal so the up side is I might get a nice stash for the freezer.
The HV said yesterday that "these things" take 5-7 days to run their course and to bring him back to the doc on Friday if things aren't any better.
I haven't been able to go and see my new nephew again as I don't want him passing anything on, even though I suspect that this has been caught from my new nephews big sister. PILs both have very sore throats and so does DH now and we think it's what my neice has had. Share ans share alike, ust don't give any to me!!

Elf1981 · 11/05/2006 09:55

mb - I got your email. Not on MSN at the mo but DH is going to set an account up for me. I shall let you know when its up and running! How's Johnny today?

Hope everybody else is well too.

I'm off today & tomorrow with Evie. Loving it!

Yokefleet · 11/05/2006 13:44

mb hope Johnny is improving Smile
elf enjoy your long weekend! Hope your weather is as good as ours, it is fab here, taken Thomas for a walk along the beach this morning! (my sis is moving here on Saturday when the forecast isn't good!!)

Naff morning here.
Evie woke early, brought her to our bed and fed her. She was lying in the middle of the bed, I needed the loo as I am not feeling well, so I woke DH and asked him to watch Evie while I was in the bathroom. Unfortunately he fell back asleep, so neither of us were there to stop Evie from falling off the bed. :( :( :(
She screamed her head off, DH was crying, I was v calm (!), calmed Evie down, called NHS direct. Evie had thrown up after falling, nurse on phone said it was probably shock reaction. Went through a list of questions, she said at the end she was happy, gave me a list of things to look out for, but Evie threw up again before the end of the phone call so the woman told me I had to take her to hospital.
It was quick at the hospital, seen by a nurse and a doctor within fifteen / twenty minutes who both said Evie was fine, no obvious bump, no injuries, just to keep an eye on her for the next 12 hours.
I have been at home throwing up and having an upset tummy which I am putting down partly to the stress of it all!
Feel like a bad mummy :(

mawbroon · 13/05/2006 14:14

Oh Elf. What a shame.Sad I'm glad to hear she's OK though and I hope you feel better soon too. I think these things happen to everyone and I'm not looking forward to it being my turn.
Johnny is a lot better but is still clingy. I know he is due for a clingy stage about now, but not sure if this is it or if he's still not 100% but he screams when I leave the room. I am doing a gig tonight and DH is going to have to deal with him. I won't get in until 2am so will be knackreed tomorrow.
Something funny happened in Tesco the other day. Johnny loves bananas and flaps his arms with excitement when I peel one for him. He saw a bunch of bananas going along the conveyor and started flapping and squealing with delight. It really made me laugh Grin

Jockey · 14/05/2006 11:45

Elf I hope you and Evie are feeling better. Poor you, it must've been awful. This happened once with one of mine, and I felt sick to my stomach. But tbh I think I was more upset than baby in the end!

Mawbroon - lol at the bananas - are you sure that's not a monkey you've got there! We love 'em here too. But she goes absolutely potty if anyone is eating an ice lolly and she doesn't get a lick of it - arms and legs waving etc.

The big interest is the tv remote at the moment. She goes potty over this too and screams when you take it from her (just like her dad)!

Elf1981 · 14/05/2006 15:32

Evie is a lot better thanks.
She slept quite a bit yesterday, but she tends to do so on a Saturday anyway.
I think that instead of rolling off the bed, she rolled onto her tummy and crawled backwards off it, so she probably hit her bum first and then her head, rather than head first onto the floor. Still not ideal. The flooring we have in our bedroom is carpet over chipboard, so the docs weren't too concerned as they said it was less harmful than laminate, or falling off the sofa onto a floor with cement underneath.
I know accidents happen, and I keep telling my DH it is okay, it was an accident, but I'm still upset about it. I know it could have been much worse but its the whole 'heart jumped into throat' bit. Not quite settled back in the chest yet!
She's fine though. Happily rolling around on the floor Grin and crawling away. She's just eaten a few runner beans and brocoli (off my plate), then tomato and pasta, then she had two strawberries and OMG I was laughing, she was getting so excited about seeing these strawberries, she ate half of one then mushed her fist together in excitement and it was everywhere, all over her, the car seat and anywhere else in throwing range as she was chucking her hands around!

mawbroon · 15/05/2006 08:50

It's been sooo quiet on here! DH is away on a three day training course so I am heading off to my parents house for a couple of nights. A change is as good as a rest they say.
Hooray. I have managed to get into size 14 jeans for the first time (and I mean get into them and be able to wear them, not just zip them up and have to stand all day because they are too tight to sit down LOL). I only have 4lbs to lose to regain my pre pregnancy weight, however I was already a bit overweight to start with, but I'll deal with that once I lose these last 4lbs. The great thing is that I am eating like a horse and still losing weightGrin
Hope everyone is well.
MBSmile

Yokefleet · 15/05/2006 10:47

MB is Johnny better now?
Elf sorry to hear of your naff weekend, hope you are both doing better now Smile

Well my sister moved here at the weekend Grin and we had a nice weekend, went shopping and lunch out on Saturday and went to the beach and then the park on Sunday followed by a very large Sunday roast (whole weekend my idea of heaven!!) Now back to reality, dh is off work with a bad back (had our neice on his shoulders and since then has winced in pain!) it is raining hard and I need to do a big food shop! Apart from that we are great! Thomas is doing well still only 2 teeth and so very close to crawling forward backwards fine! Gotta go am burning our brekkie!!

mummylovesus · 15/05/2006 13:15

ecxellent at crawling babies!!

MB glad Johnny is gettin better, hope you have a nice time at your mum's and that she spoils youGrin Well done for losing yor weight, are you feeling great!! I am starting Weight Watchers tonight. What was your gig - what do you do?

Elf, oh poor you and Evie it's horrible when these thing happen!!

YF glad you had such a nice weekend with your sister!!

Cameron is doing great though I don't think he is anywhere near crawling. He loves sitting up and is so more interested in everything round about him. He had started wakening during the night again and I though he was teething but then he woke the other night at 11pm and I gave him a bottle and he slept through again so I have gone back to topping him up at 10pm - the problem is he won't take a bottle between 6.30/7pm.

He is eating 6 tablespoons of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is lumpier now!! I really admire all you doing blw because Cameron is just starting to eat toast etc and I am starting to stop panicking so much if he chokes a little. Elf do you just give evie a whole strawberry? I don't remember being this cautious with Jess.

What kind of toys are all you'r lo' playing with just now (yes I promise I have a nearly 4 yr old (mb has seen her, she can vouch for me) but I forget)

He just loves bouncing and running around in his walker. Oh and a new thing after his morning nap he loves lying in his cot playing with his teddis, he can play there for about half an hour so I can go for a bath or tidy upstairs.

Jess stayed with her dad this weekend and it was just me and my boy - oh how you forget how eay it is with one - it felt like a holiday, but I'm sure it would have been the same if it had just been me and my princess!!

Elf how is work, is it any better?

Elf1981 · 15/05/2006 19:20

Hi mummylovesus, took me a while to work out the name! How are you holding up? Is it amibicle between you and your ex?

I do give Evie a whole strawberry, I chop the top off and bite a little out so that she can she can grab it. She loves them!

She's playing with lots of books at the moment, she lies the pictures. Also playing with those roll arounds now she is big enough to hold them. She loves her walker, baby bouncer and also one of those push along toys, she likes banging on it to get it to light up. Also loves to grab our glasses!!

Yokefleet · 15/05/2006 21:08

Glad it wasn't just me who took a while to work out your new name mummylovesus! Thomas loves playing with anything and everything to be honest, his fave though is his dads boxer's whilst I am trying to put the washing away Grin can manage 3 pairs in his mouth at any one time Wink
mb well done on your weight loss! mine has gone the other way unfortunatly, I weighed a stone less after we had Thomas compared to when he was conceived and now weigh nearly 2 stone more. Diet kicks in next week!

Piggiesmum · 15/05/2006 22:49

Elf - hope you and Evie are feeling better, that must've given you quite a fright. We had a similar incident this week. Dh was playing with ds and was sitting on the chair using his legs as a slide and letting ds slide down them. Suddenly ds lurched forwards face first onto the floor, cue must crying from both of them. Fortunately I think ds was more shocked than hurt as he stopped being upset quite quickly while dh beat himself up about it for ages.

MB- Hope Johnny is better now.

I've been wondering about toys too. Ds suddenly seems bored with all his current stuff and is far more interested in the remote controls or daddys mobile, or anything with buttons to push that he shouldn't :o

He's having alot of trouble with his teeth and tummyache/windypops. At the moment nothing I do seems to settle him and it's taking ages to get him to sleep. Poor little fella keep screaming :( It's breaking my heart.

OTOH the inbetween bits where he is smiling are great. He has a fantastic smile and giggle.

nervousmum · 17/05/2006 10:13

Greetings from Greece! I thought i'd be ultra-organised and do an on-line Tesco shop for when we get back tomorrow and i had a bit of internet time left. I'll catch up on properly at the weekend, as you've obviously been very chatty whilst i've been awayGrin

Holiday's been fab, Joey loves the sand (so much that he ate loads of itGrinGrin), and major movement milestone - he's been 'scooching' his bottom forward along the floor whilst sitting upsight, completely unaided! This morning, he managed a total distance of 2 metres from the sun tent on the beach. So cute! Just the dreaded airport to negotiate tomorrow now...take care, NM x

Donbean · 17/05/2006 10:18

Hi, does any one know where bonnie is these days?

Elf1981 · 17/05/2006 12:37

I think bonnies last post on mumsnet was at the beginning of May about selling her house, IIRC

Evie is back with her childminder today. Thank Goodness! She was with DH's dad & step mum on Monday, we went to pick her up and she was asleep but whimpering in her sleep, she wasn't very happy and they said they'd taken ages to get her asleep. They said she'd been whinging in the afternoon as she'd woken up suddenly from her nap.

Turned out that she'd only had 1 1/2 oz milk since 7:00 in the morning!!! She had a feed with me around 6 / 6:30, we dropped her off at 7:00 and picked her up at 5:00, so in all that time she'd only had 1 1/2 oz. They said she'd eaten brekkie (not much) and lunch (again, not much) so was probably "full". What about thirsty?! I think she must have been crying out of thirst in the afternoon.

We took her home and while DH was driving to the shops I gave her some of the EBM in the bottle, we were only in the car for about two mins and she drank 6oz. She had a further 2oz while I was picking up some chicken from the shop. And then she had a 20 min b.feed from me when we got home. Poor child, she must have been gagging for some liquid :(

Ah well, better now. Back with the CM!

Yokefleet · 18/05/2006 08:55

Hope everyone is ok, we are drowning in snot here! sorry if tfi, Thomas has a cold and isn't sleeping for more then an hour at a time (this has been for the last 2 nights) I am a walking, talking zombie today!

Taken Thomas to have his 4th exam at Dr's today and had him weighed (last had him weighed on Valentines day) he now weighs 22lb! Can't believe how quick he is growing up...hmmmmmmmm maybe time to start thinking about number 2!!!!!!!!!!!!

SusiS · 19/05/2006 08:05

omg yokefleet - nr. 2 Shock -
mine have 17mths gap and i have to say it's getting easier now! but i am dreading when caitlin starts to move about!
the first few months were very tough though - but it's really cute to see them 'play' together now and good giggle with each other :)

re snot: i know it's got a bad reputation. but have you tried medised??? i think it's the greates invention since icecream and it normally works really quickly. so no need to give it that often really. (it's really good to dry up those runny noses)

elf: couldn't believe your post that evie had so little to drink all day!!! makes you wonder how they raised their kids, eh?!
glad the cm works so well for you both :)

nervousmum: good to see that you miss us so much :o
and congrats on your bum shuffler Wink

piggiesmum: sorry to hear that ds is having troubles lately! hope he'll outgrow it soon!!
yep toys are a mystery!! we buy all these expensive noisy ones and all it needs is a crunchy piece of paper (she would eat the whole lot Shock) - but remotes are a favourite here too. but i guess best toy is her big brother Wink

and wow at all your 'moving' babies.
dd doesn't seem to be interested at all! she's sitting nicely though and tries to get hold of about everything she can get hold of. funny to watch how far she can actually stretch :o
but she loves most her bath!!! gosh can she splash - guess i am more soaked than she is Shock :o
eating finally has kicked in. and we've dropped the 11am bottle. sometimes even the 2pm one Shock - trying her on lots of different fingerfoods too and she loves it!
and drinking water from her cup is no problem at all! (took ages with ds to get him to drink anything else than his milk)
and she can screach like a monkey :o

mummylovesus · 19/05/2006 11:54

susis what cup are you using?

yorkfleet - you are mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

elf it's horrible when you leave your child with someone else and it goes belly up!!

nm glad you had a great holiday

Elf1981 · 19/05/2006 12:03

I keep shaking my head re the milk. It does make you wonder how collectively five kids were raised (step mil has two, fil had three).

Over the two weeks my CM was away, Evie was with a variety of family members : my mum and two sisters, DH's gran, DH's dad. It was only the milk incident that was a problem.

Though I did have to ROFL when my mum and younger sis had Evie. They took her out, my mum was driving and younger sis (she's 20) in the back of the car sitting next to Evie. All of a sudden my sister started to panic and told mum to pull over as Evie was "choking" and had "stopped breathing". Turned out that Evie was filling her nappy. Make me Grin all day!

Evie's getting more and more mobile every day. She crawls backwards, in circles and is currently trying to get the hang of going forwards. She's also eating loads more too, has ready brek in the morning or baby cereal, then she'll have loads at lunch, including a yoghurt, she'll have fresh fruit with us in the evening as well as her milk. Still cant work out why she only weighs 16lbs 14 though!

ponto · 20/05/2006 22:05

Have been catching up on the thread in the hope that someone else would have the answer to a problem I'm having - Alice won't eat savoury things from a spoon. Started weaning her about a month ago and she would take baby rice, carrot and sweet potato purees, as well as chewing on bits of bread and rice cakes. Then she had a cold and from then on would only take fromage frais or fruit puree from a spoon, everything else is met with wails and a firmly closed mouth. She will eat bread and Marmite and pick up sticks of veg and try them, but hardly anything is swallowed and I don't know how I'm going to get any protein into her.

Anyone else had similar problems and overcome them?

SusiS · 21/05/2006 06:37

could she havea sore throat??
