FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/10/2012 03:52

Oh and infacol = amazeballs. Thankyou for the suggestion!

PetWoman · 16/10/2012 09:32

Fluff it's great that the infacol is working - hope that's the end of the wind pain. I think we had 2 poo explosions when I ended up dunking DS in his bath and throwing the sleepsuit in afterwards, before moving up to the next size of nappy. We're still in size 3 here (DS is about 15lb at 28 weeks) but might try size 4 when the current pack is finished as we're getting some wee leaks in the morning.

I have a couple of second-hand snowsuits in the wardrobe for DS - one is soft brown and the bigger one has brown and blue stripes. ATM he's in a polar bear-cub pramsuit. Very cuddly.

Scream really hope DD settles better at night soon. DS's sleeping is probably best described as haphazard right now but I'm hoping this will pass...

In fact, I'm sending sympathetic Brew to everyone who had a bad night - especially Dream and Jaggy (what a big lad your DS2 is - and how cute is DS1 with him?!).

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/10/2012 11:18

It's been lovely and quiet overnight so I'm hoping everyone slept well!

I'm a bit miffed that beige milk sick is staining her white babygrows Hmm any tips? Are we just not washing them hot enough on 30 with non bio?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/10/2012 11:22

I say "overnight" in the loosest sense of the word...

jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 12:34

hmm we do ours at 40 with non bio and it gets sick stains out but not poo. glamorous this baby lark eh! Grin

pommedechocolat · 16/10/2012 12:40

I find hotter than 40 and they go non soft... I also find sick stains harder than poo stains. Hardest of all is the tomato sauce based food sick!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2012 13:37

Anything tomato sauce based or carrot requires sunshine to get the stain out. I also gave up trying to wash at 30 degrees as it just didn't get the marks out. And we use fairy non bio mainly.

Oh and I can normally get sick or poo stains out of white stuff by using napisan and ariel stain remover powder or gel. When ds2 was smaller and more delicate I would only use napisan but now there's food in that there sick I've brought in the ariel big guns Smile

And my last thought on poo is just to say fluff Meconium is The Worst for staining if you're still enjoying that particular baby treat. The normal poo is only hellishly difficult to get out - a vast improvement Grin

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 14:12

napisan has helped - forgot about that cos I've run out.

musicalmrs · 16/10/2012 14:24

Thanks for the cosy toes (ish) info Dream. I'm glad the JL one fits the BJ well. They didn't have a particularly good range in JL when I went yesterday, but will have a look online! Not too fussed what I get as long as it's cosy, and unisex ish...

Fluffy, what's all this "not due a feed" until five nonsense? ;) You'll soon grow to realise that "due" means absolutely nothing - these wee gorgeous monster brookers have minds of their own.. ;) Also impressed you avoided a poo up the back for so long! I got presented with one on the first night (while in hospital!). Meconium too. Wasn't impressed... and a sleep suit ruined instantly! Trouble from the start... ;)

Sorry to hear about the ongoing illnesses Dream. Brooking for some improvement tonight...

DH's first night alone with DD (for the beginning of the night) didn't go well. After I settled her, she woke up again just before I left. Apparently she ended up screaming lots, and eventually only a 40 min walk around Asda got her to sleep! Interestingly I never have that problem at night, but sometimes during the day... curious. Anyway, after that she then slept from about 8.40pm until 4.30am - hurrah, best sleep in WEEKS! Why am I still so shattered then..

Meant to get her weighed today but realised the baby weighing will finish soon. Oops. The health visitors must think I'm shocking, as I've hardly been...

hawthers · 16/10/2012 15:29

We had our first up the back poo in hospital on DS1's first night. Meconium EVERYWHERE - from his ears to his ankles. Sadly I was still unable to get out of bed to help due to the spinal I'd had :o DH had to call a mw to help. She wasn't best impressed

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/10/2012 16:10

:o musical til now I've had to set my alarm on my phone for every 3hrs to wake her to feed (the mw's recommended this because she's jaundiced) but today she's been feeding more and more often which is fab.

Still no engorgement (dd's a week old today) and I'm very concerned, but dd is clearly getting milk/colostrum judging by the amount of nappies we've getting through Confused

:o :o hawthers!

DreamingOfPeace · 16/10/2012 16:13

Vanish whites oxyaction powder. Brilliant stuff. Even S with his sensitive skin is ok with it.

Another hard night. S not feeding well, both still grotty so doctor's in 30 min for both, I'm a bit paranoid after dds chest infection.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance about dds weight. Glad everyone agrees she'll bounce back quickly. She ate some rocky road for breakfast and a little bit of golden syrup on toast

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/10/2012 17:02

Rocky road for brekkie? Nom! Can i come live with you? :o

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2012 17:28

Right brookers - steady yourselves. Today I have cleaned not one, but two bedrooms! Shock

Even the skirting boards where I could reach them ShockShock

AND I've made a lasagne for tea that I was supposed to make yesterday before the mini biscuits were even out of bed this morning Shock. I did have to get up v early (well, I never went back to bed after I fed ds2 at 5:30) to achieve this, but all the same...

I should add that I'm only cleaning at all because the queen my sister is coming to visit Grin

scarletfingernail · 16/10/2012 17:35

Brooking for your boys Dream.

Fluff I have never, ever had engorgement with either of my DC. Milk was there though (and still is). Just get your mw to check when you next see her? I guess you'll only see her once more so probably worth double checking everything you're not sure about. Health visitors can be a bit useless... Has DD been weighed since you came home?

Re the staining. If it's bad I'll handwash first using vanish. Then pop in the machine with bio detergent and more vanish. Then wash again afterwards with non-bio so baby safe. Oh and there's some Milton stuff you can get for the washing machine if you're worried about not killing germs at 40 degrees. I usually pour some of that in with anything poo stained.

Great that you had a good night's sleep Musical. You probably need a good month or so to catch up though!

DD has had her first 'food'. Only a teeny bit of very runny baby rice. She grabbed the spoon and shoved it in herself but then decided she didn't want any more. Never mind, I think I will try potato next. Baby rice is probably not very nice.

scarletfingernail · 16/10/2012 17:36

Grin Biscuits. Well done and have yourself a large Wine

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2012 17:39

Oh yes - I do the bio then re-wash with non bio if its badly marked. Although actually that's more applicable to DSs clothes and the various (not poo related) messes he manages to get in!

Yay for food Scarlet - how exciting :)

jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 17:43

It's the only way to achieve anything biscuits, isn't it. i try really hard to get up at 6 so I've had a shower and eaten breakfast before DS1 the human alarm clock wakes up at 7. however if DS2 has just been up and it's any time after 5 i generally think to myself "bugger this" and go back to sleep.

pre dc i used to actually get up, get the Wii out and do actual exercise before i got ready for work sometimes.

I'm going to have to have my work clothes laid out, lunch made and expressing kit all ready at night if I've a snowball's chance in hell of making it to work on time.

i remember sitting in the morning looking at the clock feeding DS1 last time around. if by some miracle he was still asleep, i used to pick him out of his cot for a kind of morning dreamfeed to tank him up before i went out.

work is starting to creep into my thought quite a lot now. DH on the other hand is totally nonchalant about suddenly having 2 boys on his hands, one of whom may or may not take a bottle...

jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 18:23

scarlet that nice Milton stuff has been discontinued nooooo! i couldn't get it anywhere so i emailed them and they confirmed this. have had to get napisan instead.

DreamingOfPeace · 16/10/2012 18:26

My post was half finished before, clearly... Meant to say what a clearly marvellous mother I am feeding my PFB such a well balanced diet...

Bows down to biscuits domestic goddess skills

Boys apparently 'happy wheezers'. No they're fecking not, come by mine any time of day or night for evidence, they were just entranced by being at the doctor's. Sigh. Lots of crying here, s especially getting very distressed. Inhalers and spacers to get started with, headache coming on at the thought of trying to get s to agree.

Never thought of washing in bio then redoing. I soak in the vanish oxygen action, scrub, soak and scrub, then wash. Man, I hate the laundry!

Argh, back to the chaos, later Brookers- I need to ask weaning advice, going terribly here

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2012 18:34

Oh crikey - good luck with the inhaler thingamies Dream. How do you get a baby to take an inhaler. Do they have to suck it in like normal asthma inhalers (of which I have no experience) or do you just sort of squirt it in their general direction and hope for the best? A bit like how you should spray perfume and waft through it?

What's the weaning prob? (She asks as if she has any answers! Hmm)

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 18:45

the spacer is like a wee chamber that you squirt the inhaler into biscuits. it means you don't have to breathe the whole dose at once, used for kids or those who have trouble taking a big breath.

jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 18:46

the chamber has a wee valve so you just breathe the vapour in the chamber for a while Iyswim.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2012 18:48

Ah ok, so do you put it in their mouth / over their mouth or something?

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 16/10/2012 18:49

i was about 7 when i got one. no freakin idea how you get a tiny to cooperate, good luck dream!
