My boy is a farty pants too. You can tell if it is wind bothering them if they pull their legs up towards their body when lying down. Another way to get rid of stubborn wind is to lay them on their tummy on your lap and stroke /pat their back.

I am feeling almost normal today. HV just phoned, and I know her well, so that is a relief. She is coming tomorrow lunch time.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 12:11

DD1 was m uch easier to wind than this LO - all I needed to do was tickle her shoulder and she burped for France. This one is a lot tougher and if she doesn't get winded every ounce or so I can guarantee the milk will come back up later on. I sit her up, one hand supporting back and neck, the other hand over her chest and I kind of very gently massage both sides. It's the only thing which seems to work.

I'm pretty pleased I just drove for the first time post section and it went ok. The only problem is that I couldn't find a position where my scar wasn't rubbed, so I think I need to put some kind of temporary dressing on it for when I drive. It's two and a half weeks since the op so a bit early but we live out in the sticks, DH is going back to work on Wednesday and needs must.

My mum is coming over from the UK tomorrow for a week but she won't drive over here. After that I will be on my own with the two children and am kind of dreading it. Dd1 is going through a wilful phase, for want of a better word, and as I can't lift her she's making the most of my weakness. Oh well, another week before I need to worry about that.

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 13:03

petite I feel your pain with dealing with a toddler too. I hope to start driving at the same stage as you. I hate relying on others for lifts, and am going a bit crazy stuck in.

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 16:35

Thanks for the help valium I think I should just count myself lucky at the minute

petite I drove for the first time today too Smile went to my doctor and he said I'm fit enough so I'm very relieved but did find it strange driving again and knowing I have a baby in the back

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 16:39

I'm used to driving with DD1 but it was strange to have such a little one in the car. DD2's seat is in the front passenger seat. Fortunately she slept. I still get afterpains when she cries so that would have been distracting.

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 19:26

It's really surreal to hear all the fireworks going on outside. It's almost as though time has continued to pass and people are going about their everyday lives as though nothing has happened.

Weird.

Evilwater · 05/11/2012 20:25

Baby evil is one month old today!
There is plenty of fire works going off at the moment, and I'm stuck indoors waiting for baby evil to go to sleep, which will take a long time. DP is working again...

Anyone else fed up with TV, I Espally hate day time TV, with a passion.

Evil

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 20:33

Ha ha Evil. I realised the other day I have been watching so much daytime TV that DD1 gets excited when she hears the come dine with me theme music and starts to dance!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/11/2012 21:35

Haha Evil. I think daytime tv kills brain cells. I felt stupider by the day when on mat leave with DD, not only was I not working, but all the day time tv sent me a bit doo-lally. This time it will be back to back Peppa though...

DS is asleep and I can't sleep despite being knackered.

Feeling much better today, much improved mobility. Impressed with you section ladies driving so quickly. Last time I was very law abiding and waited until 6 weeks had passed, despite feeling ok much sooner. But think I was paranoid about the validity of my insurance - the terms were ambiguously worded.

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 22:20

Yep, I think I might need to download the Come Dine theme for L as he is so used to hearing it Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 22:23

If I waited 6 weeks I wouldn't leave my, admittedly lovely, village at all during that time. We don't have public transport here at all other than school buses.

I think LO might have the runs. Will keep an eye on her and maybe call the paediatrician tomorrow morning. She seems fine otherwise, no sign of pain or dehydration. I think that is the main danger.

daisychain76 · 06/11/2012 03:48

Lol re CDWM. l love daytime TV and view it as one of the treats of maternity leave!Phil Spencer Secret Agwnt is favourite at the moment and has made me want to move house

Thechick he def fed more when went cold turkey. lt wasn?t all day, but he just isn?t one if those sort of babies ~ he likes to be permenantly held, but feeds tend to be quite brief.

PR hope your little one is ok. We have HV coming to weigh tomorrow, so keeping fingers crossed he?s put on. Oh actually, mean today!

NervousAt20 · 06/11/2012 04:17

I haven't really watched much tv in the day, I do like te cooking programmed though

Hope everything goes well with your HV today daisy ad your LOs gained weight

BabyN is very awake and has been after every feed tonight but still wont go more then 2 hours but hopefully ill get a nap today

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 07:22

Baby J slept from 10.30-2.30 again, then 4-6 so cannot complain. I just wish it was in his basket rather than my bed. He is getting a lot more focused on feeding, and he would have settled again earlier than 4, but I keep trying to settle him in his bed. Any tips? Never had this problem before.

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 07:23

Another one getting weighted today.

Daytime TV in this house is Peppa Pig or Disney Channel. I do like a bit of Phil Spencer though.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/11/2012 07:36

DD1 won't settle and watch TV. Other than CDWM and the odd catchy advert she is uninterested. Yes I should be pleased but I'd really appreciate being able to plonk her in front of the TV or a DVD for a while..

Right, LO doesn't appear to have diarrea as she hasn't done anything since last night. But BMs are coming every 10 hours or so and are far runnier than usual. Any ideas? No fever. A bit of a snotty nose though.

DD1 was never ill til she started going to creche a few weeks ago. I hope they aren't going to spend the winter sharing bugs round the family..

PetiteRaleuse · 06/11/2012 07:37

Good luck with your weigh ins. Hope you're all gaining (for peace of mind and freedom from harassment)

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 08:40

Thank you petite DS looks fatter. When the MWs were giving me a hard time, it was as if he was visibly shrinking in front of me. I had a horrid dream when he shrunk and disappeared.

DS is bf and still has managed to get a cold. On average pre-school children have 14 colds a year, so it is likely to be a constant snot fest in your house. At crèche, your DD will pick up everything going. In some ways it is a good thing as they get stronger with each bug, and are therefore pretty much over most things by the time they hit school. Have you had the joy that is chicken pox yet? DD2 had it when I was 25 weeks pregnant, and I had just broken my leg, except I did not know it was broken for a week. That was fun I can tell you.

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 08:42

Hope your LO is better soon petite. If there is no vomiting and the bowel movements are 10 hourly with no fever or signs of dehydration, then I would think it is just cold related.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/11/2012 09:03

Thanks Valium for your advice.

With a bit of luck we'll be avoiding chicken pox as children in Luxembourg (where my paediatrician is based and where DD goes to creche - we live on the French border with Lux) are routinely vaccinated with the MMRV jab. Fingers crossed we'll be spared it - I have very vivid memories of chicken pox

Sorry you had such a tough pregnancy. I must have missed the updates on the ante natal threads - admittedly I ddn't follow thoses threads very closely.

blonderthanred · 06/11/2012 09:50

Good luck with weigh-ins. I can't tell if L is any bigger yet but we have till tomorrow.

L usually has a good sleep around 6-9am but tricked us this morning. It is DH's birthday and was also L's original due date so maybe he was overexcited. We were having problems with the basket until we started putting a hot water bottle in first to warm it up, covered in his usual blanket. However that didn't work last night so it's not foolproof.

Did I tell you we got a Bednest? Found one on EBay for £120, they usually resell for more than that so I figured we'd get at least some of our money back. L seems to like it (again apart from last night when he wouldn't sleep anywhere) and its a lot easier on me. Plus I can gaze at him endlessly!

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 12:20

DS has put on 6oz since Saturday, thank fuck!!! No more weighing until 6 weeks.

Fingers crossed blonder

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 12:21

The bednest is lovely!

daisychain76 · 06/11/2012 12:44

Rats! He has put on 5 oz in 8 days but dropped a bit on the centiles and hv a bit worried about his colour. As he is borderline she is going to check with her boss if. a trip to hospital is needed.

That?s a fab weight gain vq.

ValiumQueen · 06/11/2012 14:21

daisy I would think that was a good weight gain. Often babies do swap centiles. DD2 started off on 98, and is now on 50 at age 2. You are doing a wonderful job feeding your baby. Do you have any worries about him?
