Daisy when you went cold turkey with the bf, was your little one on the boob all day. I've started taking the fenugreek and its working, haven't given him a bottle today, but he wants to feed most of the day and didn't let me put him in his crib until a couple of hours ago which is unusual during he day. Does it settle down. He's 4 weeks today.

GTbaby · 05/11/2012 01:25

chick what is fenugreek ?

vq I lost 7kg when weighing myself 2 weeks after LO was born. I'm 3kg off booking in weight. So not bad. But I put on quite a bit of weight in the 6 months before getting preg. So neef to loose more then 3kg.

Well done horsey. As mentioned before I felt bad for Quitting bf n embarrassed. But I couldn't stand crying at every attempt with frustration n winding LO up as well. U have to do what is right for u.

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 02:17

horsey do what's right for you and LO. This time is so precious you'll never get it back and it would be awful for it to be over shadowed by feeding, the best decision is one that makes you happy and LO will be happy too

I weighed myself for the first time today since I was about 18wks pregnant and I'm 6 pound of my ore pregnancy weight but would like to loose about a stone more

We've had no more greeny poop today Grin but have a GP appointment for me and LO today so will mention it to him aswell. Up doing the night feed aith a very wriggly baby, hope everyone gets some sleep

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 02:53

DS just slept from 9.30 to 2.30. Must be a fluke. He was more awake today and fed much more.

rowingdowntheriver · 05/11/2012 04:33

gt, fenugreek is a natural remedy that is often recommended by midwives to help increase milk supply. You can get it in Holland & Barrett.

DH gave DS 100ml of expressed milk plus 50ml of formula at 12 last night before bringing him to bed at 12.30 when he wanted feeding again. That's a lot for a 13 day old right?! I was so tired I fell asleep with him tucked in next to me and only just woke up. DS only woke when I transferred him to the Moses basket and is feeding again now.

My MIL is here to help with DS1 this week as DH is back at work today. Wish me luck!

rowingdowntheriver · 05/11/2012 04:39

Oh, and well done to those nearly back to their pre-birth weight - I still need to lose about 1 1/2 stone. It's not going to happen in a hurry with the number of puddings and cakes I am eating each day!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 05:09

I'm at prepregnancy weight, just, but in no way back at pre pregnancy figure ! Plus I want to lose another 7 kg or so to get back to my pre first pregnancy weight and figure. Looking forward to my post c section sport embargo to be lifted.

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 05:48

Yes, weight is one thing, figure is another. Major squidgy tummy still. I am amazed nobody has checked my uterus for shrinkage. With my others it was checked daily.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 07:26

My tummy wasn't recovered from last year's emcs or other surgery. I refuse to look at it in the mirror now, and ask DH to look at my scar for signs of infection etc Grin

And don't get me started on the stretchmarks...

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 07:36

petit how long was it between sections for you?

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 07:43

petite that's a job my DP has too, I haven't looked at my scar since I've had my section

Anyone have any tips to help make LO feed for longer?

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 07:44

19 months, and I had open stomach surgery a month after my first section, so my abs really took a battering last year.

eversomuch · 05/11/2012 07:53

Hi everyone, quick post to announce the arrival of baby Spencer on Friday, 2nd November at 15:33, weighing 3540g and absolutely beautiful.

Am still in hospital as I lost nearly 2l of blood during the surgery but we are both well and expecting to go home today.

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 08:21

Congratulations Everso!

StuntNun · 05/11/2012 08:26

Congratulations to you Everso. Did you have a transfusion with all that blood loss? I'm sure you can't wait to get home.

Congratulations everso I'm sure you can't wait to get home x

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 08:47

Congratulations everso. 2litres is quite a bit, wow! Make sure you really look after yourself. Cool name!

nervous with mine, I make sure I tickle/stroke a foot or something that works to keep them awake and actively feeding. When they fall asleep, I wind, and put back on breast. If not feeding I change nappy, this usually wakes them sufficiently to think about food again. Make sure they get the last drop out of a boobie before offering the other, to make sure they get the hind milk, the high calorie stuff. Remember it is not the length of the feed that matters, it is how much they take on board. It is impossible to over feed a bf baby, and they may eat all they need in 10 minutes, or take over an hour, dependent on the child.

Anyone using gro bags already? My boy will not be swaddled, unlike his sister, and has been in a gro bag for a few nights now. It is working really well, and I think he is beginning to associate it with night time and sleep.

Before I had a boy I used to look at the boy clothes and be so grateful I had two girls as they can be all pink and fluffy. I am now loving the little train designs and primary colours, and I am so glad I will not have the tears of hair brushing with him.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2012 08:56

Congratulations everso

NervousAt20 · 05/11/2012 10:01

valium I try all of that but once she's done that's it even if she's only been feeding for 10min, he feeds rarely seem to last longer then 20 min but she's gaining weight well so maybe she's just getting all she needs in them 10 min

Jus sitting in the doctors and its packed :-| hoping LO don't catch loads of germs from here

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 10:12

nervous she must be a very efficient milker, and you must have gold top milk. If she is gaining weight, content, plenty of wet and dirty nappies, then consider yourself very lucky I would say Grin DSs feeds are getting shorter now as he is getting better at it. With two other kids I am glad of this, but miss the long cuddles.

ShellyBobbs · 05/11/2012 10:39

Congratulations Ever, hope you're feeling OK. Plenty of rest for you Thanks

Horsey Just to back up what everyone else has said really, a happy mummy is the most important thing to your little one. You have given it more than a bloody good go, so just go with whatever makes you feel happy and gives you time to be happy with your baby. You'll never get this time again, so make the most of it :)

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 10:46

VQ, with winding, what technique do you use? I find that L is very floppy after a reasonable feed, a bit milk-drunk and I struggle to find a position where I can massage or pat but still support him.

If he is feeding slowly or sleepily I stroke his jaw gently with my little finger and that seems to encourage him.

ValiumQueen · 05/11/2012 11:08

Sat on my lap, with head supported by thumb and forefinger under his jaw, with him leaning forward a bit. I pat from his nappy upwards. I also put him over my shoulder, but the best way I find is to lay him down, nappy change etc, and when I pick him up he obliges. Some babies part with it easier than others, just find your way.

kissyfur · 05/11/2012 11:20

Congrats everso hope you are feeling alright now. Enjoy these special early days x

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 11:27

That's pretty much what I try and do with the sitting. It doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, he seems to send all his excess gas downwards rather than up, but he was a bit grizzly last night and I thought that might be the problem. Thank you for the info.
