ILikeToHoHoHo · 11/12/2012 11:48

I saw that Fizz, although I do have to disagree with you on a very important point. A Kit Kat is a chocolate bar, not a biscuit Xmas Grin

Ds3 and I have just got back from his last music class before Christmas. They had a little party and we sang Christmas songs, twas very cute. I think he ate his body weight in party food though. Ah well, one less lunch to make!

All of the presents have been wrapped and the cards have been written and sent, I just have the cards left that are to be hand delivered. I have never been this organised, I must have forgotten something .....

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 11/12/2012 17:52

Oh, should I not eat 12 kit kats with a Brew, is that where I'm going wrong!

last posting for parcels before Christmas is this week. If you are I our SS could you just pop a wee note on here to say you got your parcel please. Just so I can keep track in case the posties go a bit wrong!

ILikeToHoHoHo · 12/12/2012 15:01

I bloody love Kit Kats, chunky ones being my favourite. They have to be fridge cold though.

My SS was posted last week, so hopefully it will plop onto someone's door mat any day now Xmas Grin

I have just made some chocolate mousse as a trial for Christmas Day, fingers crossed they set.

Once the boys wake up we will be wrapping up and delivering some Chritmas cards in the village. It has been a beautiful day here today. Bright blue sky and everything covered in a hard frost. Most defo a Winter Wonderland Xmas Smile

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 12/12/2012 18:32

Now chunky ones are a chocolate bar!

One SS parcel collected from the sorting office tonight! Was a bit hairy for a minute because they couldn't find it for ages Shock but eventually they did! Phew!

A quick whizz round matalan and that's all my shopping done! For definite this time!

Work was manic today! My head is buzzing.

I have a great chocolate mousse recipe, although its more like chocolate spread than a bubbly mouse.

200g dark chocolate
400ml double cream
1egg yolk
Caster sugar to taste probably about 3 tablespoons, I just should the canister over the bowl a few times!

Heat milk, until almost boiling, pour over broken chocolate, stir until melted. Add sugar and egg yolk and whisk until bubbly. Pour into dishes and put it in fridge to set. Yummy!

I have made it with milk choc and not added the sugar and with white chocolate. Swirl them all together for extra luxury!

fraktion · 12/12/2012 18:37

Oh FFS now I want a bloody kitkat and I won't be able to get one til about March :( Might have to settle for bribing DH to make that delicious chocolate mousse....

I am in a miserable and mardy mood cos I have an ear infection and M has conjunctivitis. Urgh.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 12/12/2012 19:48

Ooh ooh ooh, my Christmas present from work has just arrived! An ice cream maker!

Anyone got one? What kind of ice cream should I try first??

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 12/12/2012 19:49

Sorry Frak! Do you need an aid package sent? Normal kit kats or chunky ones? Anything else?

fraktion · 12/12/2012 19:57

Oreo ice cream. It's divine!

Would kitkats a survive the post? I suppose if you packed them well they would and that would be enormously kind of you! Can I send you any French goodies in exchange? I don't think cheese or saucisson would travel well unfortunately.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 12/12/2012 20:06

I have bubble wrap Wink I'll add extra some to my shop this week!

Are pombears French? Bear

fraktion · 12/12/2012 20:09

I don't think I've ever seen Bear in Carrefour. Walkers are marketed as Lays here though. Makes me snigger.

Kittycatcat · 12/12/2012 21:11

My mate has an ice cream maker and made me coffee and walnut! Had hagendaz pecan and maple syrup last night. AMAZING!

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 12/12/2012 21:17

I'll start with a plain vanilla I think and I've had gingerbread ice cream before and it was gorgeous! So I'll try that too!

It sure beats my chocolate hamper from last year. What a disappointment that was! Chocolate curd anyone? Jar is still in the cupboard!

MrsWajs · 13/12/2012 06:08

Yummmm gingerbread ice cream sounds amazing Fizz!! How lucky are you getting pressies from work, we get the option of either being off christmas or new year and that's our lot!!

I'm so impressed with your gift location for daisy that I was wondering whether anyone could source me a mrs potato head silly suitcase? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find one in stock anywhere!

Frakk My favourite french thing are the tiny bottles of sweet cider, can't remember what they're called but they're brilliant, basically just taste like apple juice! Nothing better than sitting out on my mum and dads step in the sun with a dinky bottle of cider!

No news to report on the ttc front, currently on 2ww but it will be the immaculate conception if I'm pg this month bloody nightshift

R has joined the ranks of the early risers and it's killing me. I actually cried yesterday morning when she woke up at 6am as I knew I was having to work at night. Think I'm doing not too badly to still be functioning at this time of day now! She's teething like a legend just now (we now have 12 teeth!) and if the 18 month regression thing is possible then we could be having that a bit late. But most of all I think the clock change was to blame so roll on spring!

Kittycatcat · 13/12/2012 09:44

Did you get one mrsw?

Two good nights with A in his crib. Down at 11. Fed at 1 and 615. Up at 920 for his next feed. Whoop. Was up at 8 withs tho. But 8's good.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 13/12/2012 11:19

I'm very impressed at an ice cream maker, when I worked my present from work was much the same as MrsW Grin

If ever you need an aid parcel of supplies Frak, just say. I'm happy to help a woman in need. Ouch to the ear infection, they're bloody painful. Fingers crossed M's gammy eye clears up soon.

Fingers crossed on the 2ww MrsW. I will also have a look for the potato head thingy.

It's my birthday today! Dh and I went out or a lovely meal last night and I got a few presents this morning. My favourite being a voucher to a spa. I've already decided that I am going to have a facial. I'll tell the person doing it that the room must be warm and dimly lit and they are not to talk to me. It will be total switch off time!

ILikeToHoHoHo · 13/12/2012 11:26

mrsW - Argos and ToysRus seem to have them in stock.

chillikat · 13/12/2012 11:48

Our work Christmas treat is getting the whole of the time between Christmas and new year off :) this year we have Christmas eve as an added bonus because it would cost too much to heat the building for one day Xmas Grin

Happy birthday ILike. It's mine tomorrow and I've got today and tomorrow off as a treat. Just had my hair cut and curled (not sure M will recognise me when I got to pick her up). I think I'm getting beauty salon vouchers too. There's not much actual stuff I want, especially if we're going to move - it's more to pack.
I'm thinking we might try the new Mexican restaurant tomorrow evening, hopefully there'll be something not too hot for M to eat.

Kittycatcat · 13/12/2012 17:01

Happy birthdays ilike and chilli

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 13/12/2012 17:04

Happy birthday iLike and happy birthday for tomorrow chilli!

One thing my work are good at is perks! Salaries not so much, but when you put in the "employee package" we get, all services for free, and add that to my part time salary it's over 10% tax free, map I can't really complain....much!

Christmas night out tomorrow night! Getting my hair done in the morning! Bye bye greys! It's been over 2 months since I got it done and oh my, I am very grey now. Sod growing old grey-fully I'm sticking with the bleach!

I once got a frozen turkey as a Christmas gift from a previous workplace. It was still frozen on Christmas morning because we were only given it on Christmas Eve! It was huge! Turkey til new year!

GsyPotatoMincePieEyed · 13/12/2012 22:38

No Christmas bonus for me either, although we do get given the occassional tins of biscuits/sweets by some of our regulars. But I won't get to munch on any now as I am on holiday from tomorrow until 2nd Jan. Woohoo!

DH is also in a good mood, he won the new Nintendo Wii Usomething or other at his work Christmas raffle last night.
(do you think this means I can get away with not buying him a big present from me now, I've got him some things from the children and a couple of years ago I wanted a new phone for Christmas and DH won it at the work raffle so I would merely be following his example) Xmas Grin

Now to change the subject to ICE SKATING. A temporary rink is up in our market square over the holidays. DS (who's now 4.8) would very much like to have a go. I have never ice skated in my life, but I did try roller skating when I was younger and if that's anything to go by I will be spending a lot of time on my backside. Xmas Blush
Any tips on how I might be able to maintain my dignity and if possible an upright position, whilst simultaneously trying to teach DS how to skate when I have no clue how to do it myself. Xmas Confused

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 13/12/2012 23:29

Happy Birthdays! Grin

Gsy, I haven't ice skated for a long time, but I took up skateboarding in my late 20s. If you manage nothing else, relax your knees! And when you lose your balance, you'll automatically tense up and straighten your legs. RESIST! Try to relax your knees again, lowering your centre of gravity (less far to fall!) and should allow you to regain your balance.

push your feet forward in an exaggerated cross country skiing type manoeuvre, as opposed to stepping.

I did a lot of roller blading as a teenager too Grin

SS arrived here today! Thanks!

Blush I'll be posting mine on Saturday. Hope it arrives in time.

MrsWajs · 14/12/2012 00:27

Ooh I didn't think my last comment had posted as the computer froze after I clicked post! I had tried Toys r us Ilike but not sure if I checked Argos, amazon certainly didn't have any but no matter now as my friend text me at 8.30 this morning saying she had just got me one from asda!! I'm not sure how she managed to be at asda for 8 in the morning with a 2yo and 3mo but she did!! So panic over and xmas shopping ios complete! Yay!

I am useless at skating gsy and haven't tried it since I was about 14 so you are a braver woman than me!! DP wants us all to take up skiing when R is a bit older but I'm not sure I'll be much use at that either plus I think it's quite an expensive hobby.

On the subject of frozen turkeys, I am doing christmas dinner this year for 5 adults and 4 kids Confused Have never done it before so does anyone have any tips?? I was going to get a turkey crown as opposed to a whole bird as our oven is average sized and I have visions of bird not fitting etc etc. Whens best to do fresh food shopping i.e. how late can I get away with without running the risk of going insane half way round the supermarket!? I was thinking Sunday (22nd) early morning...

MrsWajs · 14/12/2012 00:28

Ooh and happy birthday to Ilike and chilli

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 14/12/2012 06:52

Ooh, I was skating queen in my teens! Friday nigh discos at the local rink were the highlight of my week! Will be back to post more soon!

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 14/12/2012 07:26

Right! I've thrown breakfast at b!

Ice skating it totally different to roller skating as the scar on my leg will testify! You will be a bit wobbly at first, but if you can walk in the skates you are half way there. Start by snuffling on the ice and then gliding, so shuffle shuffle glide. Stay near the edge if you can and I would avoid holding DSs hand because he is probably less likely to fall and kids bounce better than mums and dads! Any child I've seen going for the first time takes to the ice and runs off happy as larry! Wear long socks as skates come quite high on your legs and can rub.

I took dh, then bf, skating once, he did not like it, went 1/4 of the way round, stopped turned came back then went to the bar! Spoilsport!
