DD has porridge. I tend to make two really heaped tablespoons of oats and she always scoffs the lot. She sometimes eats a bit of toast too.

I really struggle with knowing what portion size to give her to be honest. I just tend to dish it out and guess if it looks right on her child sized plate. I think I read somewhere that the portion of each food group should be about the size of their fist. I could well have made that up though!

chillikat · 26/11/2012 14:14

I give M shreddies or mini weetabix for breakfast, though it's only at the weekend as she gets breakfast at nursery during the week which is shreddies and toast. I dish out a portion, probably too much and pour the milk on leave it to soften a little then she gets a spoon and it's up to her how much she eats. There's usually some left but I think she eats a good amount and if she's had enough theres major head shaking and lips together if you offer her a spoonful :) I sometimes worry about her calcium intake as she doesn't drink milk, other than a couple of BF a day, but does have lots of yogurt and occasionally cheese.

Is it that the meat part of a meal should be fist size? for adults as well as children I think?

Hope you're feeling better soon Star. We've had some rubbish nights recently - we think she's a bit cold so have ordered a cot bed duvet, hopefully she'll be able to make the change from sleeping bags easily.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/11/2012 16:59

We put our tree up on about the 15th too Star

Ds3's breakfast is his best meal of the day. He normally has a banana then ponces some of dh's and ds2's toast. If he has oatibix he has about 12 of them.

Ds3 hasn't asked for a bf since Friday. I think this may be it. For the past 7 years (except two three month gaps) I have either been pregnant or breastfeeding. An end of an era

Have you joined the singleton thread to help you decide UBW ? I have found support threads on here really helpful.

GlaikitFizzog · 27/11/2012 17:11

Breakfast is sometimes all b eats in a day. And usually consists of a banana, and one of the following. 2 weetabix and milk, 4 heaped spoons of ready brek and milk, or slice of toast with jam. I have since been I formed he also guzzles some Cheerios at the childminder while they have their breakfast!

Lunch is a sandwich or some rice cakes and dairylea with fruit or carrot sticks.

Dinner is either some of what we are having. Pasta, fish pie, lasagne, stew, mince & tatties etc, but he regularly refuses to eat these point blank and ends up with a toddler meal that looks like vomit Confused

We think its anything that is hotter than room temperature. Which is annoying, but we'll work it out eventually!

Hope everyone on the lurgybench is feeling better. I'm not on a course of antivirals after getting my first ever cold sore. My bottom lip and left side of my face was so swollen and burning tingly it was scary! I now resemble Amanda Holden rather than Lesley ash!

GlaikitFizzog · 27/11/2012 17:49

Oh I forgot to ask. B held his breath today at cms until he went pale and his lips went blue. She had to shake him (I don't think too roughly) to get him to breathe. Just a curiosity thing or something else? She kept a close eye on him the rest of the day, but he hasn't done with dh or I before so I'm a bit worried he will do it again.

Kittycatcat · 27/11/2012 19:02

Awh hugs ilike.

Scary fizz. I've heard of that. Def keep an eye on him. Hope he's ok.

I think I'll try him with a banana as well tomorrow then. Cheers ladies.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/11/2012 20:02

Ooh, scary Fizz. I've heard of it as a tantrum type thing. I hope it's just a random thing he doesn't decide to do again.

End of an era, iLike. I feel like end of BFing badges should be issued. Or certificates. Or something. Have hugs and a gold star. x

I haven't really joined a thread, as such, more started having a lurk in the admission that F might well end up being a singleton. Although, I think emotionally I'd like another, but practically we might not. And then I descend into a spiral of indecision!

Good job we've got a while to think about it.

Starshaped · 27/11/2012 20:51

Eeek Fizz - that sounds a bit frightening. It's definitely something I've heard of and am pretty sure that I've seen threads about it on here before. It'd still give me a bit of a scare though. Hope all is ok and that it was just a one off.

Seven years ILike - wow! That's impressive stuff. I felt strange when I stopped after 14ish months (is it bad that I can't remember exactly when I stopped? In fact I can't even remember any of P's firsts now and they only happened a few months ago. I swear my brain has been stewed...), so imagine you must have pretty mixed feelings about it all. I must admit that I was glad to be able to fling my bloody ugly nursing bras away though!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/11/2012 20:55

Grin at star's bra flinging!

Mine got dumped when my boobs went back to their usual tiny size. I didn't need great flappy 36Ds any more Sad.

GlaikitFizzog · 27/11/2012 21:04

Oh god, I've just melted my mooncup Shock

chillikat · 27/11/2012 21:52

Blimey Fizz - you must be running some temperature tonight !Shock

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/11/2012 21:53

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/11/2012 22:07

GlaikitFizzog · 27/11/2012 22:07

My first month using it and I nearly burn the house down!!

And my fanny is not on fire! :o

Kittycatcat · 27/11/2012 22:08

Aid shaking while I laugh and feed Grin

Kittycatcat · 27/11/2012 22:08

Er 'A'

GlaikitFizzog · 27/11/2012 22:17

Cm has just called to say her son has the sick bug. So dh is taking tomorrow off. I'm slightly Envy.

Starshaped · 27/11/2012 22:21

A melted mooncup - cripes! And that's why I'm sticking to the Tampax. I could not be trusted with such a device!

Kittycatcat · 27/11/2012 22:32

Grrr fizz what a pain

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 28/11/2012 18:41

hello all.

We've just picked up F's first antibiotics. He's had a gammy finger for over a week. I was hoping it'd sort itself out, but I think the cm was starting to think we were getting neglectful.

I've gone all pfb. Confused I've got issues with messing with his gut flora, and am worried about potential allergic reaction. And it tastes disgusting!

Tell me I'm being ridiculous again, or the symptoms and likelihood of allergy!

Starshaped · 28/11/2012 19:21

It'll be fine UBW, promise. DD had ABs a few months back for a chest infection that wouldn't clear up. Her gut flora seems to have been fine since Grin

Worryingly she seemed to like the taste of hers as much as Calpol. I fear that she sees medicine as a treat!

GlaikitFizzog · 28/11/2012 19:26

Bs gut flora gets a boost by him licking the floorHmm maybe F could try that to replace any bacteria he loses!

Seriously, how can I stop him doing that!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 28/11/2012 19:49

Grin Thanks!

I'll encourage some floor licking. although I think he gets a fair bit from 'Bear', who goes everywhere with him and falls in the occasional gutter.

That and yeo tubes.

FIL has a nasty penicillin allergy. DH reckons it's pretty instant. We gave F a half dose a couple of hours ago and he seems fine (except the cold & teething).

Nursery will have fun giving him that rank stuff tomorrow, though!

Kittycatcat · 29/11/2012 00:54

Home alone. Dh out all night. A still ill and getting worse. Been trying to settle him since ten. On third feed. Fed up.com

fraktion · 29/11/2012 08:30

Awwww kitty hope you got some sleep in the end.

UBW M has had antibiotics and we have him probiotic yoghurt at the same time after the initial dodgy tum. It seemed to work quite well.

With pennicillin it can come on the second time you have it. Sometimes the body doesn't react to the first dose, but the reaction itself quickly follows exposure.

I need to do loads of stuff today and I'm just lazing ATM Hmm.
