Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
munz · 21/09/2006 09:15

ooh ast - I've just started scrap booking/card making and it's excellent I love it. also i'm thinking tbaout doing the boxercise class on camp - althou need a strong bra first! lol. i've also started doing Avon to get fit - and it will hopefully pay for my boxercise classes

another excellent night 7-5.45 without crying out once - I think he only did then cos I went in to check on him as I was worried. fingers cross it continues

laundrylover · 21/09/2006 14:24

Great news re the sleeping boy Munz - let's hoped you've cracked it eh?
Kiah waking loads last two nights - reckon she knows my nipples are very sore scabs eh?
Astro, your doc sounds lovely and glad you are taking up their advice. I chickened out today as am feeling fine and it seemed impossible to explain IYSWIM.
My ideas for time out are a massage/facial (my local does a half hour back massage and then a facial - bliss), some alternative therapy (hot stones/reflex etc.) or a cheaper alternative is just to go and have a coffee and read a magazine. Like me tho you might struggle for a decent coffee shop - that's the ONLY thing I miss about London!
Cheaper still, send DH out with both kids and lie in a hot bubble bath with a book or the Guardian Weekend mag and pretend that you are young, free and single for an hour!
Hey today is DPs 39th birthday and I have baked a cake. Will decorate it when Tilly gets back from nursery. Sis and hub to be are coming down from Scotland and have offered to do bath and bed before a curry.
Friz/Munz, who's doing the new thread - we're going to hit the 1000 mark soon......

UniSarah · 21/09/2006 15:33

Astro- can recomend a bit of exercise you enjoy as a good way to get some head space. When I was depressed I found playing unicyclehockey was good for me as I had to concentrate on that and nothing but that. Now I go and run once a week, its just an hour at teh track , but its a structured "coached" session wth a womenns running club and the timeing is right for me to shoot out the door as Dh gets in and then go back home for bedtime. Even if boys being grumpy or yelling I go, Dh can deal with him for an hour and nether of them will come to any lasting harm :-) Hope you find a netball/hockey/ what ever session you can get along to at a sensible time.
New thread- bah humbug, I like being part of teh biggest active thread on post natals
Boy has grown, hes now scooting aronund teh room in his baby walker, 2 weeks ago he ddin;t reach teh floor.

Lizzylou · 21/09/2006 19:46

Hi all
I was on the antenatal thread but then I was hit by a hurricane in shape of a 10lb 11oz bouncing baby Benedict and then toilet trained DS1 so gave up my MN habit for a while.
Have been lurking and checking this thread now and again but not summoned up courage or time to post!
Great to see that you and your new babies are all doing so well xxxx

Frizbe · 22/09/2006 11:36

Hi Lizzylou, nice to see your still lurking and welcome back! Your ds was a big 'un then! hope all is ok with your lo's then?? and the toilet training went well?

Astro, agree with Uni, running is good for the soul (in fact the reason I 1st started running was to help a friend get over her ex! we trained up for the Dublin marathon, never again ) I hope you find something good close by. Do you like things like horse riding? maybe you could do that?

Munz, how's the Avon going then? lol at the Bra comment for Boxercise as well don't worry they do make them extra large

LL, you naughty lady, go back to docs now, that's an order! any news on the seats??

We had a fab day at the Zoo yesterday, so cat me if anyone wants those vouchers??
Saw Lions, Tigers, Elephants, Giraffes (dd2 looked very gobsmacked at these!) gorillas, orangutangs (donated to save more of these cute fellas as well) and lots, lots more! one of the gibbons, had a baby attached to her front as well, only a few weeks old, soooo cute.....kids very happy and very tired after running around all day, dd1 didn't have a choice in that, as I refused to take the double buggy, which was a wise choice as all her friends were walking too!

OP posts:
laundrylover · 22/09/2006 17:11

Just a quick hello whilst printing off my tender bid - erk!!
Hi Lizzylou - the return if the other LL!! I wondered where you'd got to as think you are both a northener and conceived in a caravan if I remember rightly! What a whopper!
I would love to start running again as soon as my boobs allow. Yesterday I had an embarrassing fall at my parents farm. Was carrying a tray of empty mugs down a gravel slope and went arse over tit!! Cut my toe, knee and hand and have got some great bruises - broke two mugs as well. Cried when my mum came to pick me up!!!
Well, off to the PO - keep your fingers crossed for my bid, it's a good 'un....

Frizbe · 22/09/2006 20:50

{{{Big Hugs}}}} LL, and ouch, hope your not too brusied and battered

OP posts:
laundrylover · 22/09/2006 22:12

Thanks Friz. Glad you had fun at the zoo - anyone taken those tickets yet? A bit far for us I think.
Well it seems as though our car seats are totally AWOL. I've washed the covers for the seats we got from the airport so will stick with them. After 10 days we can put a claim in so can buy upgrades for both girls but reckon the money will not be easy to get. BMIbaby don't even have a Customer Relations phone number so you have to call an 0871 number and listen to recorded crap to just speak to a sales person. Sorry for the rant but I think that this is really crap and feel like posting an anti BMIbaby thread!!

Something weird happened at Tots today when I was chatting to a who mentioned that another mum had gone to 6th form college with me. She cameover, we got chatting and realised that we both did the same degree at the same uni only a year apart!!! I thought she had looked familiar for the past year but we had both obviously blanked our uni days from our memory eh? Either that or it was just sooooo long ago.

Astrophe · 23/09/2006 12:20

Oooh, sorry, DH doing an assignment on the computer so no MN for me...Friz I wa already planning a zoo trip for Thursday as a friend has £2 off tickets...but yours sound better I think! I'd love them if nobody else wants them! I'll email you my address

Have good w/end girls - hope you are ok LL, and Friz, hows your cousin'ds bub?

xxx

Frizbe · 23/09/2006 21:06

Hi girls

Astro, no one has taken the tickets so they're all yours, in the post on Monday 1st class, as soon as I get your address! re cous, no news at present, so taking it as steady away.....seems whenever cousin asks she's told they're still testing...
LL what a nightmare, didn't realise they were that bad and for you.
lol at your college and Uni blanking, easily done for us youngsters eh

Uni how's you this weekend?

We've been to Fun Song Factory in Nottms today at Royal Centre, all the family all enjoyed it, although was expecting Chicken Shed Theatre Co production, but turns out to be GMTV these days?? ah well, passed a few hours and cost me £2 for two flags for the eldest two....even dd2 happy about it all so

OP posts:
laundrylover · 24/09/2006 10:42

Morning all.
Kiah is sitting here eating avocado on rice cake like a posh canape! Just made me smile - how grown up are our babies now girls?
BTW we had a scary green broccoli nappy this morning so DP reports! Oh no, can't spell the green veg and now the word just looks really weird!!!

Frizbe · 24/09/2006 12:04

Someone please remind me how long your norks take to stop hurting when you stop feeding....dd2 had last boob on fri am, and although she'd cut down over the last week to just one feed a day, OUCH! so yes ladies I'm coping out, as have a weekend away in Nov with dh so dd2 needs to be used to otherpeople feeding her by then.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 24/09/2006 19:59

I stopped feeding Ben just before his 6mth milestone (he couldn't/wouldn't stop biting!)...this time round it took about a week to stop hurting...I gave up feeling embarrassed about having cabbage leaves down my bra (only thing which eased pain)...but it is nice to have normal sized breasts and menstrual cycle again!
Has everyone shifted the weight? I still have a stone to go and it is sooo hard to lose....I want to lose another stone on top of that as I was too heavy before. I have been going to the gym and swimming but still a saggy baggy bloater!!

UniSarah · 24/09/2006 20:06

LL- get yourself fitted with a good solid sports bra before you start running, if need be 2, one of teh girls I run with wears 2 bras at atime to run.
Friz- sorry you hurt. I'm leaving boy for a weekend in Nov too but hes getting on so well with a cup that I'm not worried about him starving. I'll take the breast pump with me and express off to keep myself comfy. Don't forget if you change your mind in teh next few days you can restart BF.

Food front- WOW boy had an enourmous tea today. He reluctantly had about 40ml of pear and milk at lunch followed by 2 inch of bread stick ( which he likes biting and chewing) and then at tea wolfed most of 70 ml of runny porriage and a pot of fromage frais! Huge solid intake by his standards. Tea was teh 1st time hes been opening his mouth in anticpation of teh spoon and getting cross if I wasn;t fast enough shoveling it in. It is now 4 weeks since we started solids with him, but I did give up for a week in teh middle coz he was soo unkeen.
We have spent a large chunk of today in my workshop , boy playing and DH and I pressing apples to make juice. We have picked about half the crop and done 2 pessings so far, think we will need to do 4 or 5 more to use what we have picked so far. I've wraped a big box full to lay down in teh cellar for the winter and we have a big box in teh kitchen for making into puree and stewed apple and apple rings. So if you don;t hear much from me for next few days its coz this week we are mostly processing apples.

laundrylover · 24/09/2006 20:07

Frizbe, well you said you'd do the 6 months so well done you! Ibruprofen is the way to go and you can take paracetemol in betwwen doses if it's bad. The cabbage does work esp if you put it in the fridge. I am now the supreme knowledge on painful boobs eh?
Lizzy, I am still a fat blob and can't get off my big bum to do anything about it! Sounds like you're doing a great job of shedding the pounds - keep me updated and I may become inspired.
BTW was at dinner at friend's house last night who is due in 6 weeks and I REALLY wanted a big round tum again!!!

laundrylover · 24/09/2006 20:13

Sarah - not sure that I will be able to get a sports bra for my K cups but always wear 2 bras to run anyway. Until the thrush goes I won't be doing anything. How many apple trees have you got???

Frizbe · 24/09/2006 22:17

Do you have an Orchard UniSarah?? do you get lots of 'apple' spiders this year? we've been getting about 6 per apple on average out of my mums I've never know so many! I need to be doing a similar thing with my tomatoes over the next week, lots of chutney and passata (SP) I think.

The BF is defo being knocked on the head, I'm not suffering like this for a few days to start again.....LL I shall buy a cabbage tomorrow, lord knows how I'm going to manage some of the Yoga moves this week, might be asking for special dispensation......

LizzyL well done on the exercise, keep it up, it'll all kick in soon, last time round I was a definate 9mths on 9mths off girl and am expecting this time to be the same (says the Friz very hopefully!)

LL your not thinking about a 3rd are you??

OP posts:
laundrylover · 25/09/2006 22:02

How's the boobs Friz?
Well, in an attempt to break the recent 4 feeds a night regime Kiah had a bowl of Ready Brek at tea time which she fed herself with off a soft spoon!!! She really enjoyed it but she did look like she'd been rendered by the end.
Ooh - our car seats arrived home unannounced yesterday, very dirty but other then that none the worse for their extra week's holiday!

UniSarah · 25/09/2006 22:14

2 apple trees in the garden, and next doors pear tree hangs one branch in to our garden that we are welcome to. Its just been a VERY good apple year.
Tonight I'm doing fruit purees and swede too as there was one in the veggie bag.
Funny eveing with boy. He was grumpy with dh while I was running, refused formula ate small amount of breast milk porriage. When I got back and bathed him discovered he had done a stelth pooh so no idea how long he had been sitting in that, maybe why he was so grumpy.Lovely happy bath time. Didn't have much supper milk, wide awake when I put him into cot, fell asleep on his own, woke up an hour later yelling with teething pain. One teething powder and a little rocking later he calmed down enough to be put back to bed and again put himself to sleep. Ho Hum.
Had a nice afternoon with a visting northern friend at her parents, playing on the lawn with her two girls 18m/o and 4 m/o. He tried chewing the 18m/o's knee while they were both in her laundry basket "boat" , she responded by hogging both water beakers. All very jolly and nice really, tomorrow we all go swimming, 1st time for the 2 tiddlers.
Right must go and do apple now, pear is done.

laundrylover · 25/09/2006 22:19

Sarah, hope the boy stays down. Kiah just had first night feed - obviously not appreciating that Ready Brek glow! Do you make your porridge with normal oats or crushed ones BTW?
Enjoy swimming tomorrow, the babies will I'm sure! Tip of the day is to take a little dressing gown so that you can dry kids and put in gown whilst you get ready, then they are 'properly' dry and much easier to get dressed.

Jackstini · 26/09/2006 22:28

LL - glad the seats are finally back. Keep pushing for those free flights though! lol at Kiah 'rendering' herself. Don't know what posessed me but I gave Scarlett blueberry yoghurt today - poor child ended up looking like Violet out of Charlie and the Chocolate factory
I know what you mean about the broody feeling - I was also sad to see the end of bf poos. Not sure if I just want to have a good excuse for my belly that has not gone down yet though!
LizzyLou - on that subject it is wierd. I actually weigh less now than when I got pregnant but can't fit in the same clothes. It all seems blobby in the wrong places...
Friz - feel like I need a suitably impressed emoticon - Dublin marathon indeed! Hope the boobies are calming down and you have cabbage leaved yourself up. Mine are seeming to cope with the very varied demands depending on nursery days, work, going out etc. but who knows what will happen in the future. Still thinking about your cousin btw x
Astro - have been thinking about exercise too and went to a class tonight called body jam. Hilarious time trying to follow the dance routines but it was good fun so I will stick at it. Hope you find something good you can enjoy soon. My vice is going for a walk (5 mins to countryside)pushing dd in the pushchair. Then when she falls asleep I sit down and have half an hour with a good book & flask of latte
Anyway off to bed now I think although have got to go and have some apple juice brought on by the thought of your lovely apples Unisarah!
Hope everyone else is doing well x

laundrylover · 27/09/2006 15:25

Hi Jackstini, can't be arsed complaining about the seats to tell you the truth - they were back before the 10 day deadline and it would be such an arduous procedure! We still have 2 extra seats from the airport tho as the phone number at the couriers is constantly engaged. My plan is to keep these for my mum's car as no-one is ever going to ask for them back methinks.
Supposed to be working but am making my first porridge pancake instead - am a total convert to this BLW!!

Frizbe · 27/09/2006 21:31

Porridge Pancake ? what are you doing LL!
Boobs still loaded! but slightly less hurty than before, good job as just had to lie on front at pilates class

Uni, mmmmmm all that home cooking sounds lovely Hope the swimming went well?

Jackstini, the class sounds fun

Astro hope you enjoy zoo whenever you go

Hi LizzyL, Munz, Caddy, Rom, Gothic and anyone else I may have missed!

I'm being eaten alive again here cut the lawn yesterday and despite two showers and countless clothing changes, something is still feasting on me, grrrrrrr
Did I mention dd2 has sussed sitting up on her own all attempts at crawling are out of the window now, as this is far more fun!
