Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
reastie · 27/01/2013 21:02

Happy Birthday dilly - shall have to find this PIL thread to see what's going on Grin

wiggles uh oh, so the box has hit wiggles towers then? I didn't know kindlefire could get love film on it. I'm such a technophobe too - I've never even managed to send a photo/picture message from my phone let alone work out the internet from it (although my mobile is probably older than the internet in any case!). I'm hoping Alice's chicken pox vaccine we got for her will ward her off the pox.

reastie · 27/01/2013 21:03

Oh yes, and feeling Grin today - I've found out the amount of weight I've lost is the equivalent of an elephants willy

ILovePonyo · 27/01/2013 21:33

HA reastie!! Where/how on earth did you figure that out?!

Oh no to all the chicken pox's, lets hope speedy recoveries are in order.

wiggles I have a kindle touch screen, I love it. I think life of pi is 20p on amazon at the moment, and good free classics too.

ledkr when is your half term? I've booked annual leave at the end of our half term, could maybe meet on thursday 21st feb? Exciting!

I bought A a Sully from monsters inc costume from sainsbos a while ago, but she refused to wear it :( so have swapped it for a disney princess costume which she LOVES Hmm she wore it all afternoon, its snow white. Very cute, I'll have to get a pic up.

reastie · 28/01/2013 07:31

here ponyo Grin

blizy · 28/01/2013 07:46

Hi, I've not been on in so long you have dropped off breads I'm on, oops!

Happy belated birthday to Dilly, I hope she had a fantastic day and You too ledkr.

Ponyo, I would have wore the sully costume Grin.

Reastie, I Grin at the elephants willy comparison, so funny. I will have to see what mines is now.

Wiggles, poor O. Hope she is ok.

I was away for the weekend with dh and a few friends (38 of us Shock) and their kids to a lodge. We had a fab time, I may have got very a bit drunk, I now have a 2 day hangover, boo!

So, who is next to have a birthday?

I just read on my conception thread that a lady has lost her second baby, her waters went again at 20 weeks, little Lily was born sleeping. So very sad.

blizy · 28/01/2013 07:48

Reastie, I have only managed a 3 gallon tub of ice cream so far.

reastie · 28/01/2013 08:47

blizy 3 gallon tub of ice cream sounds like alot to me. Genuinely. I keep lifting ALice up and thinking how heavy she is and then realising I've lost more than 2 Alices!! Shock . Glad you had a nice week end but so sorry to hear about the lady on the conception thread. How awful for her Sad . There are no words really are there?

ledkr · 28/01/2013 09:51

blizy so sad. Why dies this happen twice to some people it's just not fair.
ponyo yes that looks fine to me. Soft play will be busy though.ill bring Ella so she can help with babas. You gonna ask mizk?
Re the ikea kitchen. Can anyone say if their dc play with it and not cis I thought it might be a bit boring compared to the bright coloured plastic ones.
Pil visit was ok in the end but I told dh today that I don't want to go on a week away with them or anyone else for that matter.
I get fed up with my best friends after a few days.
Would you all feel like that? Even with nice pils.
I suggested a weekend.

wigglesrock · 28/01/2013 11:39

ledkr I could buy and sell brightly coloured kitchens - Olivia used to collect them Shock The ikea one is in the group that I go to with Anna and she plays with it more than Olivias Minnie Mouse one for example. I think its a better size for her, she likes putting stuff in and out and in and out and in and out Grin of the cupboards - there seems to be a bit more room about them iykwim. The dearer/bigger plastic one that almost look like cafes etc are fab but they're quite bulky and £90 is my absolute limit. We already have lots of play food, pots, utensils etc so think we're just going to get the kitchen.

I couldn't do a week with my sister/friends/pils/parents. I went away with my parents, sister, kids etc a few years ago when Sofia and Olivia were very small and it was alright, the kids loved it, but it was a bit stressful and 4/5 days would have done me Grin

blizy thats so very sad.

ponyo Sofia loved her Snow White costume, she wore it to death.

reastie Grin you've done so well, I hope you're getting lots of compliments Grin

Off to tend to O, she really is a wee dote, hot chocolate is her only request. Although she instructed S to get her homework from her teacher Shock

reastie · 28/01/2013 14:00

ledkr Alice has a 'tasteful' kitchen and she does like it, but tbh she probably prefers the tea set and wooden food in her kitchen more than the actual kitchen itself at present. She likes it when I play with her in her kitchen cooking things, but she isn't great at playing for a long time on her own with it at the minute. She's got some happyland houses that she spends much longer self playing with. HTH. FWIW I would probably struggle going on holiday with my own family for a whole week, and I love them to bits. I would agree a week end would be much better.

ponyo alice has a few dressing up outfits but by far her favourite is her princess dress!

wiggles keep meaning to say yes please - can we have the bday list.

Went to mothercare this morning. I think they must've been having an inspection/visit from head office or something as there was a very friendly and smart head office looking man in store watching everyone. I got asked 3 times in less than a minute if they could help me, which is unheard of in my local mothercare - usually you're lucky if you get a glare and grunt after ten minutes of queuing. I think they must all hide out the back drinking tea as usually I can never find anyone to help me but today there were loads of staff desperate to help with anything. It was so funny as they were all desperate to look busy - there was even one member of staff who seemed to just be driving an empty maclearan buggy round and round the store Grin

americanexpat · 28/01/2013 18:30

L has a small play kitchen (this one) and tbh mostly just puts things in the cupboards. I opened the oven last night and a bunch of puzzle pieces tumbled out. He has some Melissa & Doug play food as well that he doesn't really play with. He will pour me a cup of coffee from his kettle though. Grin

blizy - how horrible for that family. Sad 3 gallons of ice cream is quite a lot and certainly an accomplishment. I was reading the thread in reverse and thought you'd eaten it until I read reastie's post below. Grin

DH took L back to the dr today (sorted it all himself, even making the appt Shock). He's had a productive cough since before Christmas and apparently he has sinusitis with some build-up behind his ears so we have nasal spray and another antibiotic for him. He's been waking at 5am every morning for the last 3 weeks, tired grumpy and coughing. I feel bad for sending him to the dr when he's not "really" sick - but it was absolutely justified with the cough, right? I feel like a time-waster but he's had green mucus for over a month now but no fever.

reastie · 28/01/2013 18:33

american I love the way an ice machine comes as standard with the American toy kitchens Grin . Don't think you're a time waster at all btw. I think I read somewhere if Los have a persistent cough longer than 3 weeks you should see a GP, although no idea where I heard that from!

deb how's tricks? We should do another meet up in half term or easter Grin

americanexpat · 28/01/2013 18:49

They're more or less standard on side-by-side fridge-freezers - I can't remember if you have those in the UK, we never had one. Most fridge-freezers have an ice machine inside though. We love ice, yes we do. Grin

wigglesrock · 28/01/2013 18:51

americanexpat deffo not a time waster Grin If Olivias dodgy throat taught me one thing its to get everything on record at the Dr. Olivia never has a high temp even with the tonsilitis. I never run a high temp either even in labour.

Right off to rub a fab gel on Olivias little spotty torso - it really cools and soothes and its not messy Shock Worth every penny of the £9 Shock it cost me.

I may have missed some name changes or actual people Grin, just let me know.

ledkr · 28/01/2013 19:26

Share the gel wiggs for future ref
Ah my two year old is cute. She was waving bye to me this morning but was then doing big dramatic kissing of hands and say mmmah mmmah like a right lovie.
Dh has done Sod all today whilst had d. Literally nothing. Pjs still on floor plus the days nappies. Just nothing. Apparently he will not apologise for "spending time with dd" well I agree actually so will be doing the same on my days off. Oh how he'll laugh when he has no dinner after his late shifts and no clean clothes and a shit hole for a house.
I've even booked a sitter for Friday night so I can go out after my day if fun with the girls Grin

wigglesrock · 28/01/2013 19:46

Its Virasoothe.

wigglesrock · 30/01/2013 20:57

NeedToSleep I know you have namechanged but I can't find the new name. Anyway on the off chance Happy Birthday Ben Grin - hope you are doing well xxxx

ledkr · 30/01/2013 21:22

Her name is ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath wiggs
How's Anna's sleep d is horrendous I've contacted a sleep clinic today I am desperate. I know you had probs with one of yours. Do you have any suggestions?
She self settles, wakes in the night anytime from 1 to 4 sometimes if I let her cry a bit she goes back off but sometimes keeps crying. I'm not keen to leave her long so I then go on which seems to make her much worse and escalates her need to get picked up. Last night she jumped out of the cot and ran upstairs to dh who was in bed!
She's welcome in with us but doesn't sleep just fidgets until she wakes up fully and we end up getting up.
You usually think along the same lines as me but I'm flummoxed. Not to mention ill with tiredness.

ILovePonyo · 30/01/2013 21:31

Ugh led lack of sleep is horrendous, I feel for you. No advice but fwiw I read on mn somewhere that if you're going to leave them to cry, you have to leave them properly. So either go in every 10mins or so, or just leave them. Going in every 30 mins (for example) does more harm than good. I had to remember this the other morning when A woke at 12.30am and just cried, screamed and would not go back to sleep. We had to leave her for an hour and she eventually went back to sleep, it was bloody grim though.
Since then she's slept better (still up for the day at 5.30 but its easier on a full nights kip)
I keep thinking its just a phase and am preparing for crappy night wakings again Hmm

Anyway hope that makes sense, not really advising just sympathising.

Hppy birthday Ben! and love Needto's new name Grin

wigglesrock · 30/01/2013 21:36

Thats desperate ledkr Annas sleep is very hit and miss but she will sleep if I get in with her - bed obviously not cot. She is getting slightly better at sleeping past 5.30am Shock. Olivia constantly woke but that was for company, so if I took her in with us she'd go over again. Her main problem was going to sleep in the first place and no napping.

Its shit being so tired - I can only offer Brew, Wine sneaky cig xx

ledkr · 30/01/2013 22:02

Ponyo did you not go in at all then?
I have tried it all I think but I can't leave her for more than twenty mins cos I think it's cruel. (Just my opinion)
Going to do the bed/change of routine at weekend then if not its the 250 quid sleep consultant.

HobKnob · 30/01/2013 22:19

HELLO FANS!!!!

It's debka here, do you like my disguise? I actually thought of the name change at about 3am and was so excited I got up at 6am to see if it was taken. [saddo]

Missed you all, been lurking a bit but been busy in RL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DILLS!!! ledkr saw your pils thread and one about D's sleep, I would go with a consultant, I've only heard good things on here about them. Utterly soul destroying to be so deprived for so long. Much sympathy.

reastie meet up would be lovely, we could do Leeds Castle again- are your tickets still valid? freeloader WELL DONE on the elephant's willy, blimey! I've almost lost a newborn giraffe Shock (2lb off 9st now!)

blizy keep waiting for your good news, what's the latest from the gp? So sad about your friend on Conception, so not fair :(

wiggles chicken pox, yuk, have the others had it? Can't believe Emma is one already!

expat I'm like you, hate taking mine to the gp, always feel like I'm wasting time. Good call for L though if he's just not getting better. My 2 are booked in on fri for a rash they've had under their arms for about 6mo Shock and Imogen's has spread across her tummy now and pre school mentioned it Blush

BIG WAVES TO EVERYONE ELSE!!

All good here. S isn't 2 till next week but by GOD is she 2 in her head. She is so persistent and stubborn, and screams and screams if she doesn''t get her way. She is so naughty and disobedient now and she was such a pliable baby! Good job I love her! She's also coming out with new words every hour it seems, and the odd sentence, today we had 'me play there' and 'me like owwy (orange)'.

DH and I have started watching Homeland, first series, it's a bit slow tbh, does it get better? He's funny about the sex scenes, it's like watching with your gran, he gets all uncomfortable and starts muttering about how unecessary it all is. I just say he ought to watch closely, he might learn something Grin

On that note I had my bloody hellish implant removed last week, I bled nearly every day for a year on the damn thing, and never felt like sex anyway. Got an appointment net week for a coil fitting- reastie you had a mirena, didn't you? How was it? I'm dreading it tbh, the insertion , and also actually having it in place. Can't wait till the menopause when my body can be my own again :( May end up doing a wiggs and just going back to condoms.

epic post, sorry!

reastie · 31/01/2013 06:23

HobKnob great name Grin . My Leeds Castle cards ran out Sad , we'll have to think of somewhere else Hmm . I wonder if I could wangle some free guest passes from my gym if you fancied taking the girlies for a little swim? They have some play equipment outside and a nice cafe with toys in for them to play with. It's near Tonbridge. Or if you have any other ideas?? Re: coil, I don't have a mirena I have a copper coil. I insertion wasn't exactly fun Hmm but it wasn't too bad. I took nurofen before having it done. I went to the hospital sexual health clinic and found that far better than when my GP tried (and failed) to insert a coil pre dd as they were much more experienced with getting them in. I think tbh they'd have no problem inserting it in you - they managed me and I hadn't ever even dilated when pg and ended out with a csec. If you can squeeze out 2 big babies I'm sure it will have stretched enough Wink . I seem to remember having quite alot of bad periody pain for a number of days afterwards (although I think this varies person to person) and for the first few weeks I could feel something was there (or was aware things weren't as they weren't before IYKWIM). I went to my GP as they said if you can feel it there's something wrong, she checked and it was all OK and I found out on mn alot of people are aware of it being there for the first few weeks until they get used to it. HTH

ItsOK love the piccies on fb - glad Ben likes his castle. It looks fab.

ledkr I say try the consultant. It may be ££ but if it helps you get sleep and feel better it will be worth it. Having an expert perspective can be very useful and helpful. Fwiw I'm the same with letting Alice cry - I just can't do it. We've been up since 3am with her this morning though Hmm and she feeds to sleep every day, so I'm not sure I'm the best example!
