Happy Birthday Ips and N and A :)

Enjoy the wedding Pebble, just remember to try and stop a couple of times during the day to take it all in. Hope E has a good Birthday too and enjoys Italy.

1 tomorrow and still no teeth Grin

Glad W is feeling better Strawberry

I do keep thinking "this time last year" Pene I was at work!

Penelope1980 · 04/10/2012 20:33

This time last year I was probably on mn moaning about being 40 + 6

strawberrypenguin · 05/10/2012 08:08

chesh happy birthday to P Smile

Scheherezade · 05/10/2012 11:19

Lots of happy thoughts to all the birthdays :)

Does anyone else ever get moments where you feel like a complete amateur, without a clue what you're doing?! I could cry at this whole cows milk fiasco. Sometimes C is up early, sometimes late. If he's up early he WANTS HIS BOTTLE and there's no point offering cereal instead. So early days he has a bottle of cows milk, then breakfast at 8ish. If he's up late (like today, he was up at 8.30) it becomes a mad rush to do bottle/breakfast and out in time for 9.30am groups. So I decided to just offer breakfast, with a beaker of cows milk at 11, as this is what a lot of other people do.

Tried beaker just now and it really upset him :( thought about putting it in a bottle but wouldn't that be a big step backwards, he's not had a morning bottle in a long time. Seems daft to drop a bottle, then reintroduce it months later.

Scheherezade · 05/10/2012 12:03

He got to the point where he was too hungry to sleep, but too tired to eat :( so I've caved and given him a bottle.

CheshireDing · 05/10/2012 12:24

Sorry I can't help with the milk/bottle thing Scheh I am still preping myself for us trying to give P milk at bedtime rather than boob!! Might try it over the next couple of weeks but think she is going to be VERY annoyed :(

P is 1 today :) :) :) (although theoretically not actually born until 21.21pm tonight.

and I forgot to defrost her birthday cake to cut it later.

Still no teeth either Grin

TallyBear · 05/10/2012 16:55

Just been to another 1 birthday party. Sitting in the drive with Seb snoring in the back and it's pouring with rain - why get wet and wake Seb up?!

Happy birthday to all those born a year today (on phone so can't check.

Oo he stirs... Nope still snoring! Is it wrong to leave him in here? Yes. I guess. I might wait a bit longer and then risk it. If nothing else I'm getting cold.

Ed ((hugs)).

Well done for all those making birthday cakes. Dm offered and Im not going to have time so thought why not!! I might ask if she can do a 1 cake like S. she might be able to do a dinosaur like on fb. She did amazing cakes when we were kids but about 25 years out of practice now.

Gonna risk it. Wish me luck....

Penelope1980 · 05/10/2012 19:35

Happy birthday P!

A is one today (my time) as well - so excited! We're eating breakfast now watching him eat while I go on mn and I keep looking at him and thinking all manner of corny and emotional thoughts about how fab he is Smile (Sorry about excess of emotion lol)

CheshireDing · 05/10/2012 22:57

Aww was thinking that Pene that A and P "kind of" hove their Birthdays on the same day due to the time difference. Love his cake, it's amazing :)

I shouted DH to come down and look at P's cake as I had just finished it, then I realised it was the same time as she had been born being silly and gushy too

Tally the only chance I got to decorate P's cake was now, it's taken me 2 hours - doesn't look like it would take 2 hours though when you look at it so good idea to get your Mum to do it ! Grin

Off now to make my bunting and blow up balloons. This time last year was having a brew and staring at a tiny scrunched up thing Grin

LittlePebble · 06/10/2012 04:54

Happy birthday A and P Grin

pene happy birthday to A hope you had a great day Smile

strawberrypenguin · 06/10/2012 08:44

Hi climbing Smile

MrsHende · 06/10/2012 09:03

Happy birthday A&P!! Happy days Smile.

You're right Chesh, I'd have to start baking now for 83 guests Grin. DH and I have decided we have to scale right back, it's now just a party for the grandparents! We just can't afford to feed all those people, much as we'd love to.

Now, what will I do with the 50 cupcake cases and napkins I bought back in August...?

Penelope1980 · 06/10/2012 09:26

chesh yeah am would have to do the maths about when A was born UK time ... actually I know it was in the morning UK time on the 6th as I woke up my best friend by sending an "I'm in labour!" text message. Close, though! Love that they gave you a brew after the birth. I think the best I got was some toast.

I am just unwinding now after a massive but fabulous day - had a thing with close family, but underestimated how many 'close family' means. I loved it though, and A seemed pretty happy as well. Some grandparents and my aunt travelled a long way to be here and it meant the world to me.

What a fabulous year! Thanks for sharing it with me, ladies Smile

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 06/10/2012 11:15

my surplus napkins and cupcake cases are stored away for birthday number 2 BlushGrin

Happy belated birthday P and A :)
Been a manic couple of days. Had a ton of people turn up for Ns birthday but unfortunately he had a temp all night n had to go to drop in centre at 6am on his b'day :( they said its a virus (again!) so by mid afternoon we were all knackered. He got rather grumpy as my family were up and some had never met him so wanted cuddles and play but N didn't want to know.

Then yesterday we got married!!!! Was a lovely day, went really well and everyone had a great time. Cake was fab too Grin
N was still a bit under the weather (no temp tho), cried through the ceremony but perked up at the afternoon tea when he pinched his grandmas scone and proceeded to eat it whole Grin
Now opening wedding gifts and some birthday presents for N- he got so much we couldn't get them all opened on the day!

Engelsemama · 06/10/2012 14:03

Huge congrats on your wedding ips !

pen sounds like you had a great day.

Welcome back climbing

Well, photos for collage ordered, just got M's birthday T-shirt through (it's MASSIVE but he can wear it until he's not 1 anymore! Will just have to roll up the sleeves on his birthday Grin ) and just about to order cream birthday cake with rocket on it (looks much cooler than anything I could ever bake, and no one in Holland seems to make proper birthday cakes, so it's only my DM's disapproval I have to deal with down the phone/via Skype!). Still one week of work to go before half term and it can't go quickly enough. last week was really heavy at work, finished late every night so hit rush hour, in on my day off as well, and felt like I didn't see M at all.

So am taking it easy this weekend!

strawberrypenguin · 06/10/2012 15:10

Congratulation ips Thanks

MrsHende · 06/10/2012 16:40

Congratulations ips and mr ips!

CheshireDing · 06/10/2012 19:58

Ladies if I am bf approx 3 times between 7pm-Midnight should I just stop, or do I need to gradually decrease otherwise my boobs will be in shock Grin ?

DH thinks maybe we could warm the cows milk in the bottle and P might be more accepting of it that way? We haven't started trying it yet though.

Congratulations Ips, hope N is feeling a bit better now :(

Enjoy relaxing Engels, have some nice coffee wine and cake.

Scheherezade · 06/10/2012 20:21

3x 7-12?!

I'd decrease it to one, but make that one an express feed.

I microwave cows milk 30secs in bottle, shake and its fine.

MrsHende · 06/10/2012 20:44

Don't just stop! Ouch!

If P will take a bottle then go for it, or you might want to go straight to a free flow cup - that's what my health visitor advised.

Mostly i'd say take your time and don't get stressed if it doesn't work straight away, she'll get there!

Good luck with the baby making! (As a warning though, I stopped bf more than a month ago and still no period here.)

Climbingpenguin · 06/10/2012 21:06

congrats ips !!! Hope you have a absolutely wonderful day. It's coming up to winter, they'll have lurgy every other week if we're lucky.

DS over a week went from feeding continuously hourly - two hourly to four hourly with DH taking him. I'm sticking to four hourly at night for the time being. In about a month I will try and wean him off the middle feed. I'd just lengthen the time between feeds. Main reason for having a break was he dropped a day feed as well and as he doesn't have cows milk I didn't want to accidentally wean him and I want to make sure he has enough 'dairy' from just me.

I did six munro's while I was away

LittlePebble · 06/10/2012 21:10

Congratulations ipswitch xxxx
