pene W is technology boy and love the ipad/phone (we're a bit of an apple household!) he knows how to swipe the sceen to get it to move and is pretty good at finding music and putting it on Smile however they are ours not his we just let him play theres no way i'd buy one just for him! Hes always loved tech and plays with the tv remote and house phone regularly too. And given that I work in a library also has tons of books pushed his way sassy Xmas Grin

eng fx that you escape the lurgy. Tree putting up went OK we've got it stood on a large blanket chest so its not on the floor. We had to use white lights though as we couldnt find our coloured set - no idea what we've done with them!

re baby number 2 now that W's more 'sorted' i'm definatly starting to feel a bit more ready. Going to leave it another 6 months or so though before I freak DH out by saying i'm ready Grin

sassy34264 · 17/12/2012 13:22

I demand that all this talk about ttc is ceased, or somehow done behind my back............

Envy Envy Envy

It may miss you eng, as sore throats, colds and coughs, have been all the rage in this house, and i've come through unscathed. so far

I have absolutely no idea how that is possible however, as i am regularly coughed at in the face. Hmm

We have tidied our tree 3 times. It has limited decorations, but somehow manages to look like a cat has been having a fight with a bird in it, every few days. I may just give up and leave it until xmas day assuming it will still be in one piece

Engelsemama · 17/12/2012 13:48

I even just did a bit of lurking on the conception boards anything than face the pile of marking I have but I know that DH isn't ready yet (though not sure if he'll ever be ready).

Countrymama must be nearly ready for number 3 soon

Engelsemama · 17/12/2012 14:18

M threw one of his bath toys in the toilet this morning. Poor little fish Xmas Grin

Climbingpenguin · 17/12/2012 14:35

yes, DS learned a few weeks ago to lift the lid so I keep finding stuff in there Xmas Hmm

Engelsemama · 17/12/2012 15:58

Xmas Grin climbing

Vom free for nearly 48 hours so decided to head out for some shopping - bad idea! M threw up in car just before we pulled away from house.

Cleaned it all up and Dh suggested that since he'd probably thrown everything else up, we may as well pop out and get the bits we needed anyway. Famous last words. Lovely vomit in the middle of Makro!

DH has decided to take the rest of the week off (good thing too because M can't go to nursery tomorrow).

Had a little chat with DH re: ttc number 2 (feeling bold and broody!) and he said that he really wants us to wait and can we talk about it again in a few months Xmas Sad

I just have to get through the next few days at school (not looking forward to how crazy it's going to be) and then I can enjoy the Xmas hols with my boys.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 17/12/2012 16:16

Yes, I once found S shoe down the toilet Confused

Climbingpenguin · 17/12/2012 16:17

engel considering the amount you are dealing with atm I agree with your DH. Doesn't help the broodiness though.

I now have a working hob, think we have been without for 6 weeks. I can make mash, pasta, rice, stir fries, dals... again. Anything that isn't stew!

Engelsemama · 17/12/2012 16:29

I know you're right climbing but there's a part of me that is wondering if DH will ever be ready for number two (and on reflection perhaps discussing it in the middle of vom-fest is also unwise Xmas Wink )

I also said to myself that I wanted to have been back at work for a year before I thought about it (which is another few months down the line).

Plus we were going to go to NZ next summer for a month - which would be scuppered if we thought about ttc now.

Though given how long it took me to get pg last time, M could be 3 by the time he gets a sibling. I think that's also playing on my mind - that it wasn't easy to get pg and I'd rather start now, even if it's passively (by just stopping with using contraception) than full on ttc.

I hear coughing from the kitchen (scares me everytime M coughs as I think he's going to throw up!) BBL

CheshireDing · 17/12/2012 19:18

Maybe it's the weather with the rash then, and the heating.

Too much baby talk, I've been waiting for ours to turn up since March :(

Good luck on Thursday Engels

Sassy P's "party" clothes consist of a velvet summer dress but with tights to make it look wintery Xmas Grin.

I think Father Christmas might be bringing her a Happy Hopperz now, she has her Christmas Pj's all washed and ready but nothing else from us.

Pene P uses DH's Ipad for baby music, baby school etc but he already had it I would never buy her one, they are too expensive and at least you can lock the screen, which you can't with my little cheap laptop so she would just break that. She has a Vtech Laptop but doesn't really care for it much, but that might be an option for A ? I think from memory you can get some baby thing to stick the iphone in so that could be a cheaper alternative.

Grin at random objects down the toilet!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 17/12/2012 20:01

Hmm, just had a look in S mouth.. She still has just her 2 bottom teeth but all of the top ones look ready to break through. I can feel one of the top front is just breaking but then she has a complete random molar 1/4 way through Shock. No idea when that happened!!

PenelopeLane · 18/12/2012 06:46

Sassy etc I tend to agree with you re i-pads and am glad to hear what you think as was thinking was alone in not rushing out to get one for DS. I am sure we will at some stage, but don't think it needs to be now. And when I get one, it will be a grown up toy he's allowed sometimes, as others of you have said - which sounds very sensible. Although to be fair I don't know anyone who has actually bought one for a child's sole use, but then I still don't know that many people who have them at all as none of my friends seem to yet.

engels hope you and DH reach a resolution re TTC, it can be hard being on a different page. DH and I agreed to wait until Christmas to decide, and am glad it's only a week away now as the site of small babies is making me feel gaga. Where in NZ are you going?

Cheshire I'll stop with the baby talk now! (Fair enough that it could be sensitive)

I found some blocks in the toilet, took them out to clean them but didn't right away, left them on side of bath, forgot, reminded later when I saw them in A's mouth. Sigh.

sassy34264 · 18/12/2012 11:23

Is it too early to pour myself a drink?!

My whole house looks like a bomb has dropped, and for some reason i have decided that today is the day that i'm going to sort through the kids clothes.

Mainly because i have been bidding away on ebay (new discovery) and i have thee most massive pile of new clothes on my bedroom floor waiting to be placed in the kids drawers and wardrobes. I've so far managed to move all of eva's 9/12 months out of her drawer and onto a pile on the floor Hmm moved isobel's 12/18 months into eva's and replaced it with all the new 18/24 that was waiting at the bottom of the wardrobe. I have moved all 18/24 month out of jacobs and left in 2/3 and added some new 3/4. I now have a massive pile of 2/3 girls clothes to go at the bottom of the wardrobe (until isobel grows a bit!) and all new 4/5 for jacob as well.

It's like a continous cycle that will never ever ever end!

I've just took out all the baby blankets (a gizillion), muslim squares and baby sleeping bags. They are in a pile on the landing.

Please help, i am drowning in a sea of material.......... Grin

strawberrypenguin · 18/12/2012 12:05

sounds like a job and a half! It's bad enough keeping up with one lot of outgrown clothing!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/12/2012 12:53

Good luck sassy. Hoping you make it out the other side!!! Grin

Clothes sorting is the worst! U have bags of outgrown clothes all over the spare room. Not ready to part with anything yet so it's been put into bin bags and sent to my parents to put into the attic Blush

Climbingpenguin · 18/12/2012 13:13

DS just went off to sleep, in his cot, with just me sitting the floor next to him. No crying, no patting, just a little bit of shushing at the end for 10 secs max. Shock

LittlePebble · 18/12/2012 17:15

Climbing that's brilliant Grin

TallyBear · 18/12/2012 22:26

MrsH Congratulations! Are we looking at an August/September baby? A 2 year age gap isn't too bad. I'm still Xmas Confused about no 2.

Those talking about walkers or talkers, Seb does a little of both but neither, iyswim. He will take a few steps and then sinks to his knees to crawl and he babbles loads but nothing really identifiable, aside from Ka (cat) and mama (not just to me, I think it's just a general babble).

Pen Seb happily uses my iphone and hates it if I take it away as he thinks it's his. He loves to press the home button and chew it. We got the fisher price case for the iphone to stop him doing that, it's good but a faff to get in and out. I also think they are a bit young for ipads. Surely books are good for a few years yet.

Climbing Yey for the hob. How have you coped? and a double yey for the nap.

Sassy Xmas Grin at ebay piles. The woman at the post office knew me by name when I was off as I always had parcels arriving (usually when I was picking one up!). Calmed down a bit now. My latest ebay purchase is some A-Z animal stickers for Seb's room. Arrived today from China but bigger than I thought they'd be - that's the whole room covered then! Xmas Grin. Sounds like you need to get selling now though... Or find the nearest nearly new sale.

Horrible thing happened in Tesco car park this pm. Was with Seb doing the Christmas food shop on my own. Pushing the trolley back to the far end parent and baby space but Tesco, in their wisdom, built the path on a slant so the trolley, already a left-leaner, kept shooting off towards the parked cars, kept trying to correct but was really heavy, so I decided it might be easier to pull it. As I was pulling it the back (Seb end) swung round and it bashed into a pillar, just where Seb's hand was. I'm not sure how far over the edge of the trolley his hand was but he was in hysterics. I felt awful. I could see it happening but couldn't stop it in time. I then had to carry him whilst pulling the trolley the rest of the way with it bashing into every pillar along the way (take that Tesco!). It looked OK before he went to bed and he was fine so I'm hoping it was mainly shock. Sod's law the pillar was right where he was Xmas Sad.

PenelopeLane · 19/12/2012 08:57

Tally Shock Hope S's ok - although in these situations it is probably you that has more trouble recovering. Hope your nerves are ok as well! It must have all happened in slow motion

Climbingpenguin · 19/12/2012 09:26

tally you're just a proper mum now, try not to dwell on it and hope you are over the shock and sleep wasn't too disturbed

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 19/12/2012 09:42

Those slow motion accidents are the absolute worse! Hope you are both ok Smile
cp did L have a big nap after settling by himself?!

OP posts:
Climbingpenguin · 19/12/2012 20:22

erm not really. He did just over an hour, which when he has one nap a day he could do with being longer. In fairness that is how long his naps have been for a few days though, so he didn't worse. I just got him off tonight in his cot so that means it has worked for a nap and evening. I'm not going to try too hard as the xmas travels will unravel things anyway.

It does his sister is managing one more waking in the night than him atm, he has only been waking twice this week.

PenelopeLane · 20/12/2012 09:17

hmmm am concerned A has congunctivitis! Very yucky looking eye - have any of your babies had this? We're going to the dr tomorrow, and feel a tad ill after googling it and seeing google images by mistake ...

In other news I packed for my Christmas holiday tonight! We leave Sat for two weeks in four places (three family, one fun), where hopefully the current long range forecast is wrong as it's not looking that great!

PenelopeLane · 20/12/2012 09:19

What are the rest of you doing for Christmas? I am going to Mum's with my three sisters, their partners, various children, and all four of my parents (two natural two step). It should be fabulous madness

Climbingpenguin · 20/12/2012 09:28

most advice is to not treat it, normally eyedrops are given just because nurseries require them.

do you still bf?
