Wow Shhh, that sounds pretty heavy Smile
I haven't had DD weighed for ages - next month will be the next time.
I'm afraid I don't have any stain removal tips.
I use bleach if the item is white and just keep washing/soaking in Napisan and hot water if not.
Avocado is my bugbear.
Maybe as it gets warmer you could feed her in the noodyroody Grin

Hi Tinker,
Here in Oz we change to forward-facing seats at 6 months or 8 kgs.
It was such a blessing.
I needed therapy after some of my trips with DD in the capsule. ( blood-curdling screaming - I was amazed at her capacity to scream for a very long time!)

dd weighed 23lb at last weigh in 1 1/2 weeks ago, she's steadily following the 91st centile, considering she was only 6lb10oz at birth, you could say she likes her food! She is quite chubby, but also long, takes after her father as I'm only 5ft2. people keep saying how huge she is, but theres not much I can do about it - it is hard work carrying her about for long though. She's been in her forward facing car seat for a while now, but doesn't seem to prefer it, she still gets quite upset on long journeys (over 1/2 hour)and sometimes really cries and sobs and takes ages to calm down. Don't know what I can do to help her enjoy it more, she has toys, can see out and I've started giving her the odd breadstick etc. in the car so she associates it with food too. any other suggestions? Maddison glad ds is sleeping better now. I knew I'd mentioned controlled grumbling before but couldn't remember who to. dd seems ok now, only up once last night about 3 and slept until 6.30. She's napping now.
I wash with eco-balls and use ecover laundry bleach but with heavy stains I spray on vanish pre wash stain remover, sometimes it takes more than one wash to get it out though, we get weetabix everywhere too! - weetabix sneezes are the worst!

RE:clothing stains. I've given up. I find that chocolate and tomatoes are the worst. The kids have two section wardrobes. One half is "nice" clothes, the other half is stained stuff to wear in the garden. I've never found a solution unfortunately except buy more clothes!!

I had DS2 weighed almost 2 weeks ago and he was 11.1kg. The girl who recorded it only plotted it on the chart, not in the actual book and I don't work in kg! I'm guessing it'll be about 25lb's so seems I have a heavyweight on my hands!!! Grin

About the clothing stains, I usually put neat washing liquid straight onto the mark and this usually brings it out. For the tougher things I haven't found anything yet!

We're off!
DD has started making a few tottery steps on her own and of her own volition instead of me trying to entice her to do it.
She's managed 10 small steps before falling over.
Very cute!

Congrats on the walking YM!!! Smile

DS2 only walks around the furniture, he hasn't attempted to walk on his own yet, not that I'm complaining, he's quick enough on his knees!!!

Hi Everyone, just had a good read to catch up with all your news. Brilliant that your dd is starting to walk YM.

Ds is a heavy boy too, now on the 98th centile at 24 3/4 lb (11.24 kg) which is a relief as he was nearer the 99.6th at one stage. His weight is getting more in proportion to his height now he's moving.

Had a birthday barbeque for all the babies in our antenatal group yesterday even though it is not Ds's till 17th. The sun shone and they were all little angels. It was lovely! There were tears before bed time though as DS was over tired, over excited and having a bit of a sugar rush. Still it's only once a year.

May 1st tomorrow so I hope all your little ones have lovely birthdays this month. One year already, can you believe it!

just wanted to say hi quickly coz its been so long since ive been on here and thought you might of forgotten me and ds. ive missed so much but just don't get the time to post anymore what with college and everything. but glad to see your all ok and all the babies are fine.

matthew is nearly 11 months now, he's not 1 till 7th june as i was one of the last to have him from the due in may thread. ive got a party planned for him at a activity centre place which should be good fun coz ive got about 15 children coming ranging from 6 mths to 8 years, but at least he'll enjoy it.

he's got 4 teeth now but its all the bottom ones he's got none of the top ones yet so its looks quite funny.

he's taking his first steps now hes done about 12 on his own in one go so i don't think it will be long, he stands not holding on alot and seems quite staedy, i expect he'll just start doing it one day when im not expecting it.

he wieghs about 22lb i think by now he was 21lb 14oz last time i had him weighed but that was a few weeks ago. he seems quite tall for his age but is quite thin he's still in 6-9mths clothes mostly but some 9-12mths fit him so he's prob just about the right size i think.

Hi all Smile

Sounds like Matthew is doing really well MM, sounds like it will be a good party too!!

We have organised a barbeque (and praying for good weather Wink) for the 14th May although it isn't DS2's birthday until 17th which is mid week. We would have had it the following weekend but it is our nephews 5th birthday the Saturday following his birthday so we decided to have it on the Sunday beforehand.

Booge, our DS's have the same birthday Smile

Well after DS2 woke up every 2 hours last night we decided to put him in his own room as of tonight! We didn't plan to do this (wanted to keep our spare room as 'the computer room' Grin) we were going to eventually have him share DS1's bedroom but obviously it isn't fair on DS1 with DS2's sleeping habits! We thought we might be disturbing him so have spent most of the day shifting things around and tidying up, oh and chasing after DS2 and his lightening legs! He has only cried once and settled himself again after about 30 seconds so fingers crossed, DH & I will get some sleep tonight!

Hi mm glad all is well with you.

maddison we have also just moved dd into her own room for the 1st time. It's been 4 night so far and she has done really well..fingers crossed it continues. No tears, no shouting just sleep!!! Not sure if she doesn't wake of if we can't hear her chats but we haven't heard her in the night. Like you said, we may have been disturbing each other.
She gets up with me now around 7.30/8am which is bliss..when she wakes while I am asleep she usually sits chatting or goes back off to sleep.
Hope things are still going well with you maddison.????

Thanks for asking Shhhh, last night was a bit better than previous nights, he fell asleep at 7:30, woke at 2:45 for half an hour then woke up for good at 6:30, so not too bad. The only problems we have now is a) getting him to sleep in his cot (he currently falls asleep in his high chair Blush we've tried waiting until he's drowsy but it seems to wake him up for another period of time) and b) DH is the only one of us that can get him to sleep when he does stir in the night, although I have bf him and stopped it when he starts to just suck.

Lucky you for getting to sleep in until 8am!!!

Maddison · 06/05/2006 20:48

Well nighttimes are getting much easier now ie putting DS2 to bed, for the last 3 nights i have managed to get him into his cot to fall asleep in there instead of on me Smile He does still have a BF though but I take him off again when he starts to just suck for comfort, which was the thing that really irritated me. So far he has been waking only once a night but again i've managed to get him off again.

Hope everythings going well for you shhhh with dd in her own room??

DS2 is also very confident getting upstairs - on Thursday I took my eyes off him for a minute and found him upstairs playing in DS1's bedroom!!! Blush Grin

And hope everybody else and their babies are all happy and healthy Smile

Hi Everyone! Glad to hear things are improving Maddison and Shhh.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to sort my dd out?? She has generally slept really well but has started to wake at 5.30am and won't settle back to sleep. I give her a dummy which keeps her quiet for 10 minutes or so and then she's up again shouting/screaming and rattling her cot. It's driving us nuts because up till now she's been really good. I'm pretty sure she's not hungry and it's not teeth.

Other than that she's doing really well now. She mastered crawling, pulling herself up to standing and cruising all within a week, and now there's no stopping her! She is of course now into everything and driving her big brother crazy!!

Hi Tiggerish, glad to hear dd is doing well. As for the early mornings, I've no idea how to crack it. DS2 started waking early, sometimes as early as 4:30am and not going back to sleep. He's now waking at 6:30am on the dot every morning but this was a gradual thing. The only thing I have heard is that you could leave it 15 minutes later before you get her and increase the time maybe week by week. I think they are supposed to get the message that you are not going in straight away so there's no point getting up. Or something like that. HTH or that others may come up with better ideas for you.

Well for the last 2 nights DS2 has slept from 7:30/8:00 up to 6:30, only waking once at around 9pm, but with a rub on the back and the legs he's gone back to sleep Smile But tbh, with all the extra sleep I've had I'm absolutely SHATTERED!!!! Still, I suppose I could get used to it but i'm not counting my chickens before they hatch!!!

My dp is now my dh! We got married last week in Cornwall, we eloped really, just us with dd and a couple of friends with their ds (our godson) to help look after dd and be witnesses. It was lovely, very romantic and intimate. Dd slept through the whole thing, although she woke up for the photos and to play with seaweed on the beach afterwards! Just had to share that as it was so lovely, and this week is dd's birthday(12th). We're just having a little tea party with her cousins, I'm making her a duck shape cake as 'duck' was her first word, and she'll see othe family over the weekend.
Not sure what you can do about the sleeping, dd wakes between 6 and 7.30 usually. Have had a bit of trouble settling her lately as she spends most of the time trying to stand up in her cot, even when she can hardly stand she's so sleepy, she then cries and needs lying down, she's even fallen asleep on all fours. Hopefully it will get better when the novelty of standing in her cot wears off.. Congrats ym on first steps, thats exciting. I'm sure dd will be there soon too. Good to hear from matthewsmummy too.

DS1 slept through our wedding, only when he woke up for the photos he screamed!! He was in the early stages of chicken pox though so understandable really.

Congratulations again!!

Congratulations Little B, your wedding sounds beautiful ( especially the photos in the seaweed Wink)
Glad the sleep is improving Maddison and Shhhh.
Tiggerish - sorry no ideas on how to make them sleep later in the morning. DD has been waking also at 5.30, sometimes 5 and occasionally 4.30.
Yawn - very tiring.
BUT the past 2 mornings she awoke at 7 Grin
I have a book (as always) which recommends putting them to bed 20 mins earlier in order to get them to sleep later with the theory that they are sleep deprived and that they wake early as they are overtired.
I tried it and she awoke 1/2 an hour earlier so it didn't work for me.
Might be worth a try though.
No ideas about a cake - I'm going to attempt one too. And I am certainly no cake maker Smile
DD is walking all over the place now - falling over constantly but just gets back up and continues. I'm so impressed with the tenacity and determination of these little people.

I am just popping my head in the door to say hi to anyone who remembers me! Just bought a beautiful laptop and am back on line as of today. Tonight I'm going to pour a glass of wine and read back over the adventures of all the may05'ers and i cant wait. Shannon is doing great, walked the day she turned 10 months and is now a fast runner at 12mths. We got her a rocking horse for her birthday last week and she loves it.
I am really looking forward to catching up, talk soon xx

Hi Northstar, was just thinking about you a few days ago!! Nice to see you and it's lovely to hear that Shannon is doing well Smile

YM, great news about DD sleeping until 7. I am quite Envy I read in one of the Baby Whisperer books (I think) that you can go into their room approx an hour before they normally wake up to rouse them a little so they, in theory, fall back into a deep sleep and sleep a little later. Daren't for my life try it though!! And i suppose I can cope getting up at 6:30am, would be getting up at 7 to get DS1 ready for school anyway.

DS2 is still only cruising around the furniture and hasn't even attempted a single step on his own yet. It will come with time though, I can wait a little longer lol Grin

Since he has moved into his own bedroom {a week ago yesterday} we have had, dare i say it, 4 full nights of sleep! and I have started to let him play in his room, as we have a babygate at the door and i have slinked off for a few minutes each time to encourage independant play. I'm not sure he's even noticed I'm gone! I get quite tired of chasing him around on my hands and knees!

Report
Tiggerish · 10/05/2006 22:13

Thanks YM. You may well be right about being over tired. Dd came down with a stinking cold today having been really clingy yesterday and was up at 5.30 again. So I think it may all be connected. Hopefully when she is over it she'll be back to sleeping well again.

I'm not sure what we are going to do for her birthday (20th). Ds was 4 yesterday and has had a party at nursery and family celebrations at home. His godparents are all coming to visit over dd's birthday weekend so it'll probably end up as an extension to that. She won't be too bothered as long as she gets some chocolate cake!
