Wow MissRee just saw the photo of Freya another one who thinks she looks so grown up ...aw they have all come such a long way!! I must put some new ones on there too.

Am at work today having swapped a day earlier in the week to save some leave, feels very strange having a 2 day weekend ahead of us.

seven77 · 07/09/2012 14:42

oi they've done a part-exchange on a house on a new development. Theirs has already been sold so they can't easily pull out, hence why it would cost so much for them to not have the money. Anyway, the other solicitors have finally made contact with ours (apparently they forgot Hmm), they now have the draft contract so hopefully things will get moving at last. I hope things improve between you and DH soon.

air that's great news, hope she's better than the previous one!

northern glad there's a compromise with DHs hours, hope they grant his request, when do you expect to hear? I'll be sacrificing some chickens for you if they don't bloody start laying eggs soon :o

Paralympics was excellent, we had an amazing day. Less can be said for deptford travelodge though, the burnt out buildings and the fact the travelodge opened this year soon made us realise it's where some of the riots were. I'd already booked it for when DH does the marathon next year, think I'll see if I can get anywhere else and cancel it. We stayed in one near GOSH with DS before which was fine. I thought the DLR was very odd, like being on Chuggington!

mopsytop · 07/09/2012 15:27

hi all, we don't have an 8 month check here - is this a usual thing?
Minim is at nursery, I have spent the whole day so far doing JRF applications. So time consuming. And so unlikely I will get one. SIGH.
Gorgeous day here though, and should be a nice weekend, yay! I am working tomorrow but hopefully will be nice through Sunday as well.

MissRee Freya is gorgeous. They are all getting so big. It is lovely on the one hand, because they are so much fun now. Minimopsy is just so interactive and smiley and happy and plays away and claps and waves and is just all round fabulous, but they are no longer tiny, snuggly little babies. Minim doesn't want hugs at all, she is always trying to poke her head out over my shoulder or around my arm to see what's going on. Nosy pants! It's very cute though. She is nearly crawling but not quite there yet. I am happy for her to remain fairly immobile because our house will be a nightmare to babyproof, although I guess I had better start thinking about it.

Better get back to these JRF applications and then my article. Ugh. All this stuff is important and has to be done, but it means no progress on my PhD in the meantime. GAH! But MIL here until Tuesday and hopefully will be feeling energetic enough to look after minim on Monday so I can sneak a few more hours work in.

Hope DSM is having a fab honeymoon. Feeling rather jealous!

Aethel hope that the house is all coming together in advance of the all important photos!

MissRee · 07/09/2012 16:41

We don't have an 8-month check either. In fact, when I took Freya to clinic last week for the first time in almost 2 months I got a lecture from the HV about how they prefer us to self-weigh. So they can stand around all day and drink tea presumably?? Hmm

Ahh thanks for the lovely comments ladies, I do think she's pretty fab myself Grin I can't believe how grown up she is now - she's learnt the "nono" head! Very cute indeed! Still no crawling but that first tooth has pierced the surface and I would never have known until she bit my finger. No mood change or sleepless nights here

I'm not finding much rest time Northern to be honest. I get my hour on the coach each morning/evening when I dribble away and snore to my heart's content but our weekends are full of entertaining Jack. We have to cart him around to various family members so they get time to spend with him as well... grandparents, uncle/aunt/cousins, my parents. That plus housework = not much time left!

We had last week off as we had Jack for 10 days and we were out EVERY day. I feel like I need a holiday to recover from it! I had Monday off work so it was just me and Freya but I spent the whole day doing housework Sad

OiMissus · 07/09/2012 18:58

He's asleep in his own bed... Monitor is on...(first night!) .,.why are we still whispering?!

OiMissus · 07/09/2012 19:11

Freya is rather gorgeous, and grown up.
They are fab, aren't they? We have wonky clapping. And today he waved for the first time. Totally unnecessarily. There was no train. ( which is what I've been teaching him to aim at - they go past the field every 20 mins). We were in the q at m & s, he waved at the security camera. I was v excited and told the lady at the till that it was his first wave. She smiled sympathetically. (not the service I have come to expect! The last time I was there a lady got another girl to open a till for me, then lady no1 played and cooed at BOi until I was all packed and paid up).
Still no noise from BOi. It's a BT monitor. We've set it playing classical muzak very quietly, with a starry light show.Grin

OiMissus · 07/09/2012 19:36

He woke up. Cried. Stood up. I went to him. Laid him down. Shushed him. He slept!!!!!
Sssh!!!

Figgygal · 07/09/2012 19:57

2 days ago DS started clapping his hands he is so proud of himself when doing it he just beams problem is he tries doing it when standing up so let's go and falls unless u grab him by armpits which of course he think is hilarious!!

Having problems this week with him not napping he's gone from having 30min morning nap and 1hr+ afternoon nap to 1 45ish nap all day which of course means he's horrid in evening until bed. Tonight he literally moaned non stop from when I got in at 5.45 to bedtime even between mouthfuls of his fish dinner he yelled. Not fun!!

We r going forward facing tomorrow ......assuming we can get his new seat in car that is Grin

MissRee · 07/09/2012 21:18

Yay for BOi! (on the wave and sleeping in his big BOi room Grin)

I'm trying to teach F to wave but she just grins at me... except when she's having a bottle, then she waves. Bye bye milkies???

Am feeling slightly more chilled tonight as it's Friday.

Jack helped me bath Freya this evening which equalled water all over the bathroom! They had fun though Grin

Aethelfleda · 07/09/2012 21:23

Survived the first long day! And DS was fine too (phew).

Rubella and rubella vaccine together really don't cause problems. Rubella vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine (imagine a spider with its legs chopped off. It's still a spider, but it's not going anywhere). If you've already been bitten by a spider (caught the disease) and bought a large mallet for whacking future spiders (developed an immune response), then seeing a leg-chopped-spider afterwards just means it's easier to whack with the mallet. If you've never seen a spider before then the vacine is a safe way to educate your immune system what one looks like so you can hit it with your mallet before you get bitten by a real one. Some other vaccine types are dead versions (ex-spider) or have litle bits of spider (eg just a leg). Anything that shows you what to whack can be effective.

Does that make sense? It's been a long day.

LittleMissFlustered · 07/09/2012 22:19

I pity any spiders chez Aethel tonight...

After 3 wake ups and gentle shushings since 7. BOi woke at 10 with the screaming heebiegeebies. Eventually we brought him into the lounge and gave him milk. He's still here and now settled. When we go to bed, he'll be going to his bed.
It will be a long night.

LittleMissFlustered · 08/09/2012 03:45

It's hard for a few nights but it's worth it for you all on the end Oi:)

Octoboy is not well. High temp, laboured breathing and icky sicks. Doctors first thing for us I think. I know it's partly new germs the minions have brought home from school, but his chest had been getting worse. I need to re-chase his referral again. So many people on long-term sick that things are getting left and lost.

Anyway. Tea? Brew

2nd wake up of night lo is currently thrashing and screaming like he's been possessed ......what is this??

Figgygal · 08/09/2012 08:20

Well that was not fun!! He's had his overnight bottle and his breakfast bottle he had some calpol and finally chilled out. Never seen him wig out like that before Sad

Dh and I also had a massive row at 5 this morning when he said he couldn't function if this was going to continue, I told him it was a phase and he just had to as people have harder nights than us and harder jobs than us and managed so he had to man up. Well that resulted on a near hysterical tirade about how nasty and ungrateful I am despite fact I do all the night feeds anyway. Funnily enough now DS is awake I'm up with him and dh is still asleep as always happens yet he's the 1 who can't "function".......arsehole.

How was your night in the end oi?

LittleMissFlustered · 08/09/2012 09:21

What is it with the menfolk? A fair few of them are being utter bastards.

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 08/09/2012 09:24

Jeez figgy, don't know which sounds worse, the hysterical child or hysterical DP Sad. Sympathies to you and Oi- we're doing the same tonight, DP is returning up to our bedroom and DS will be alone in his room, so could be a long one.

I bet anything your DS's wig-out was overtiredness. We have the same thing generally when DP can't be arsed to get up with DS so gives him an early nap, throws out his routine and means he misses out his afternoon nap and is awake for 7 hours in one go even down to the crying through his dinner, and it always equals a disturbed night.

How's the tentacled one this morning LMF?

Glad you're at least getting the hour each way to zonk out MissRee, but I know what you mean- having kids does just seem to mean you're on the go all the time. Even my Mum, who adores DS to death, and can't actually physically get involved with him owing to her disability, said she felt a sort of relief when he went to bed as it's so tiring!

DS now has five teeth through, and thankfully is grinding them less No clapping here; he is 'waving' in that he's moving his hand in a waving motion, but isn't actually waving at things iyswim?

LittleMissFlustered · 08/09/2012 09:51

Finally got his temp down thanks Northern, was a long night though. He's finally gone to sleep, has been napping for an hour and a half now. Off to the doctors when he wakes up:)

OP posts:
seven77 · 08/09/2012 09:58

Sounds like a very bad night figgy. ?

LMF hope octoboy is ok.

Bad night here too, up with DS on and off from when we went to bed until 3, then up with DD from 6.

northern my mum was exhausted after having mine when we were in London. She doesn't set an alarm as she's always awake early, the next morning she slept until 8:40, she has to be at work at 8:30, and Eva woke up at 6:30 when she was there instead of the usual 5:30.

Aethelfleda · 08/09/2012 10:05

oh no for all the poorly LOs.... dS spent the night full of snot, he's been waking from 2.30am-4am the last three nights and I think this cold coming out explains it. Cake now baked and Tonight will be icing time.

Build a bear Kingston has been put off a little as some uni friends have invited us out to lunch at the pub first. Yes please!....

Figgygal · 08/09/2012 11:12

I've also been told that he doesn't speak to me anymore and I'm cold and no warmth in out relationship anymore unfortunately I'm a stubborn Scottish bird so can't be arsed arguing otherwise. I am 500 miles from home for him and want to go back but don't just for him have been thinking a lot recently about going home either with or without him DS is stopping me though and making me work to make things better but not sure how much I want to anymore. Crap!!

seven77 · 08/09/2012 17:55

figgy sounds like you need a good think about what you really want, and whether it's worth fighting for.

Aethelfleda · 08/09/2012 19:36

Sympathy figgy, it takes two to make a relationship work, and it's v frustrating when it feels like your DP isn't stepping up to the plate. I hope you guys can find some time for a calm talk together about what you can do and what you both want/need from your relationship.

.

in other news, DDs both have bears: a bells-and-whistles bear for DD1 (her main present) and a similar bear without so many bits for DD2. Toral bill £84. Thank heavens for generous cheques from grandparents!!!!!

OiMissus · 08/09/2012 20:37

Sounds rough figgy. Remember that year one is the toughest. Your DH needs to man up (why are they such pathetic wimps?!), but maybe we need to get through this year before making any life-altering decisions.
We wimped out last night. He stayed in the lounge asleep until we went to bed. But stupidly we drank a lot of wine and went to bed very late... So let him sleep in our room again for some peace.
Maybe I need to mum up also! Blush
Tonight, he's asleep up in the lounge now, but I'll transfer him to his own bed later... Honest.,.!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/09/2012 22:06

I reckon with DCs that sometimes things are a process, like weaning, and sometimes it's a 'this changes as of now', so don't feel bad Oi! And peace and a good night's sleep are worth having... I always think 'will DS be doing this when he's 15', and if the answer's no I don't sweat it she says very bravely knowing her DS is in the nursery on his own for the first time tonight and she'll be in there like a shot should he so much as breathe too deeply

I'm sorry it's not so good at the mo figgy, and I know your DP has not been as supportive as you'd like for a while..sounds like you do need to clear the air with him. At least if you want to make things work at the moment, that's good, so give it a go and see what happens- you've always got going home in 'reserve' iyswim?

Shock £84! Shock
Am I totally behind the times or do the bears have platinum eyes?!

We've had a good one today- walked to the nice local pub in the countryside. Where we are is a bit of a dive in some ways, best reflected in the local pubs: three have been burnt out, several shut down, and the only two remaining close by are grim or racist (long story). So we did the long walk out to the lovely pub, had lunch, few drinks, and DS had the time of his life getting to crawl loads round the garden and eat grass.
We need a proper garden!!
