Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OiMissus · 05/09/2012 19:29

No chooks to sacrifice but I'll certainly try and catapult a couple of magpies for your DG northern. Hope they say yes.
Also hope that all older dcs had good first days at school. ...and didn't get too many blisters from their new shoes. Smile

OiMissus · 05/09/2012 19:36

DG?? I meant DH.
And it's BOi's 8 month check tomorrow at almost 9 months.
And he came home with a report from nursery on Tuesday. (he got D- for sleeping) And gave an appt to discuss his development on Friday.
(he didn't get graded. Twas but a silly joke. But his "summative assessment" says things like "the stage I am working within is 0-11" or 8-20.
Que?

OiMissus · 05/09/2012 19:40

Just looked it up. It's months.
0-11 months
8-20 months
This is not very informative. Why not 0-8, then 8-20?

NorthernChinchilla · 05/09/2012 19:45

That is weird Oi... I told my DM about DS getting 'reports' from nursery and she was quite Confused! Do they give you an explanatory leaflet?

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 05/09/2012 19:56

Aethel Hope the Juggling went okay this morning?

Seven How was day 1 of HE?

Northern Keeping my fingers crossed your DH employers go for that working suggestion.
Sky hasn't really dropped any milk that i've noticed. Seems to of stayed the same.

Oi I hope things improve for you both. Sky won't get her '8 month' check till she is 10 months old!
Not sure on the grading thing Confused

Sky is settling in really well at nursery. Found out she loves custard too.

Darcie had a fab first day at school yesterday.

I think we are all packed to go away tomorrow evening. All Darcie's stuff is at my mums and Sky's stuff will be
transported to the ILs tomorrow morning once i've dropped the girls to nursery/school.

Getting excited about going away but anxious about leaving the girls as never done it before, except the odd night away in London.

OiMissus · 05/09/2012 20:13

Have a fab time mrsdsm!
No explanatory leaflet, northern, but his key worker offered me a report appointment. She seemed quite surprised when I accepted.

Figgygal · 05/09/2012 20:22

Ladies hello!!

Sorry i dropped off for a while been home in scotland both i and lo are back the size of a cow after far too much mum meals. Ive started buying 12-18mo clothes for him now though i haven't actually started putting him in them yet.

Off to catch up on the thread now hope all well!! I did see comments about 9mo checks the hv called me earlier to book Ds in must call back and arrange.

Aethelfleda · 05/09/2012 20:47

Juggling was OK thanks, DH got the DDs successfully to breakfast club and DD2's birthday chocolate buttons were distributed to the class, as were the party invites that I was scribbling like a loon at 11pm last night . (at their school a child can bring sweeties for the class on their birthday). Tomorrow is party bag shopping and cheques to the bank from grandparents (which are already spent!) this weekend we shall enter the horror that is Build-A-Bear, as DD1 has lusted after one of these monstrosities ever since DD2 was given one when a good friend took her there for the friend's birthday (the result is a much hugged dog, imaginitively named WoofWoof.)

Fingers crossed northern, that sounds like an ideal compromise, really hope his work go for it.

Thinking of you oi, it must be very tough with so much hanging on you (((hug))). Here's hoping your DH gets his act together and gets a new job and a ner attitude very soon, relatiobships often hit a rocky patch around this time as the tiny babies have gone and yet life is so busy, dependent and complicated....Especially when it's your first and you have the whole changed-lifestyle thing to deal with.

Hope you're doing OK out there gee and maybe getting a tiny bit more sleep....

Has anyone been watching "the last leg" after the paralympics? It's really funny! I have the telly on while trying to tidy stuff and pack away some of our clutter: in eight days the estate agents will photograph our house (aaargh!) and so it has to look as good as it can. In theory. There's just so much washing and stuff... the exercise has been temporarily shelved as there's just too much going on!

NorthernChinchilla · 05/09/2012 22:11

Blimey MrsDSM sounds like you've got a lot going on! So glad the girls both settled in well, and hope you have a marvellous time on your hols. I'm sure they will be fine- have you agreed how/if/how often they'll contact you (if at all?) whilst you're away? Go get tanned, relaxed and happy Smile

We all know he's a BOi genius Oi- I showed my pfb the stairs and he just hit them repeatedly and happily...no climbing yet! Not that I've seen the videos as I'm not on fb, but by the sounds of it he's a little Edmund Hillary. And he's still go the best hair ever

We're the same figgy. As DS has shot up the centiles he'd now be on about the 60th if he were 1 yr old, so we've started getting 12-18 month stuff. Got a few 9-12 month clothes, but only a little as he's growing so quickly. Hope you enjoyed the Scotland trip!

How you don't just crawl under a rug and hide aethel I don't know... Where's the Build-a-Bear, I've seen them at Bluewater and it looks scary...

OiMissus · 06/09/2012 13:30

Good look with the Build-a-bearing. I agree the shop does look very scary and horrendous. We'll all have to deal with this in some form or another in the future. Their tastes just won't be as refined as ours...yet.
We're just back from his 8mth check. She was clearly delighted with BOiGenius. He's doing everything he should be doing for his age, and is ahead in locomotor and active posture. (She said that's all she could mark him ahead for, as the next stages on other categories were more about stringing words together etc.)
(She probably just said that to be nice.)
He's 9.92kg, or 21lb 14oz. still nicely inbetween the 75th and 91st percentile.
She recommended a couple of books, one called "Raising Boys" by Steve Biddulph and another about Toddler Taming by Dr. Green. (I hope she wasn't implying that BOiGenius is too BOiSterous! How very rude!)
he he he!

Aethelfleda · 06/09/2012 14:00

I've read those oi, Toddler Taming is great: a very practical and sensvle walk through what motivates toddlers and how to think on their level to gently guide them through things without exploding. The doc who wrote it seems very sensible.

I got halfway through "raising boys" but may save you the price of the book by a spoiler that the author thinks that any childcare for boys under three years is deeply psychologically harmful and spends a chapter claiming all sorts of things about this. Personally I thought it was written by a masogynist who wants to keep women at home, turned me right off the rest of the book. Just sayin'.....

OiMissus · 06/09/2012 17:28

Oh lordy I am a bad mum and should be dunked in a river! My poor deeply psychologically traumatised BOi!

anairofhope · 06/09/2012 17:40

(The HV that has been witch hunting me has now left her job and i will be meeting the new HV on Tuesday to check on Hope's fine moter skills! I just wanted to share my good news Grin)

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 06/09/2012 17:47

Oi Glad BOi's check went well.

Air That's brilliant news. Grin

We have dropped the girls off & on our way to Gatwick Smile

Aethelfleda · 06/09/2012 19:09

Hooray for air!

well, exactly oi. Don't we love an author with an agenda.

tomorrow's my first long day leaving DS. My poor DDs put up with this for years, at least it's only once a week.
More tidying in the meantime, there's a neverending list of things to do...

Aethelfleda · 06/09/2012 19:10

And good luck dSm, hope you have a fab time!

NorthernChinchilla · 06/09/2012 19:57

Have a fantastic time MrsDSM, relax and enjoy being a Mrs!

Well heavens, it would appear my DS is also going to be traumatised/have his legs drop off/murder nuns as his hobby as well! What larks!
People do peddle some shite and sell it....

DS seemed to take fine to his settling in day- met his key worker, and DP and I spent about an hour in the baby centre of the nursery before leaving DS for about 1.5 hours. Two small children immediately took to me (for some reason, all small children and dogs are drawn to me, must be my smell or something Confused) and so I got more cuddles from one little 6 month boy in an hour than I have from DS is 9 months, and was reading a story about owls to a little girl, who was about one.

DS was a bit tearful when we got back but that was his nap time; morning session tomorrow.

Glad to hear the BOiGenius is doing so well- did she not comment on his lovely locks too? My little Captain Fluffyhead me is still very jealous of all that lovely hair. DS this morning came into bed for his feed and latched on to my forearm and started sucking viciously, twice, before being directed boob-wards... don't think he's got a career in medicine coming up Grin

Great news by the way air, so hope it goes well on Tuesday Smile

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 06/09/2012 20:13

Thanks Ladies. We've checked in our bags at the airport. Now at The Holiday Inn for the night just chilling out!

Spoke to the IL's and Sky had a splash in the bath and settled to sleep well. So I feel more relaxed now. Also Darcie is having a fab time over her BFF. There's a video on FB of the pair of them singing a Bruno mars tune! Grin superstars in the making!

MissRee · 06/09/2012 20:48

Have fallen off thread again! Doh!

Have a fab hol DSM

Added a more up to date pic of Freya to my profile Grin

I'm e.x.h.a.u.s.t.e.d. Sad

Figgygal · 06/09/2012 20:56

Excellent news air and oi

Have a fab time dsm!!

AWomanCalledHorse · 06/09/2012 20:58

MissRee, Freya looks so grown up!!

DS had his 8 month check today, charmed the pants off a trainee HV! Also, yay free books!
He's on the 50th for weight & 92nd for height.

I bought a 'first year of parenting for dads' or somesuch and it mentioned that if your wife isn't bf she's missing out on an amazing bonding experience, your pfb will go to hell & you're basically evil. Thanks for the tip aethel, was looking for a book on boys as I've only had experience raising girls.

Air, great news!

Have a fab time on honeymoon DSM....plans for another DC soon? Wink

We've got our next minibreak in 2 weeks & another one booked for Dec, hurrah DC free time! Taking it slow on the ttc front, can't believe I'm at 8months & not upduffed...

OiMissus · 06/09/2012 22:46

That's fabulous news air! Let's hope the next HV isn't a witch also.
They don't record height in Bolton. I still don't know what percentile he is on. I'll have to measure him one day (have been saying this for almost 9 months now!).
And yes, free books! Hurrah
I've been making a boat mobile for BOi's room. However, I've made the boats sooooo big, they may become more like bunting, or wall hangings... If I say so myself, though, BOi ain't the only genius at ashworth towers! Wink

(I'm sure you all know me enough now to understand that I am taking the pi$$ when referring to BOi as being a child prodigy.)

...
Wink

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/09/2012 10:03

Currently sat in departures at Gatwick south terminal.

DH brought me some Stella McCartney perfume - it's my favourite Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 07/09/2012 10:12

Yeah, it's very much Wink for the BOiGenius! tho he is

A big for you MissRee, I know exactly how you feel and it's grim (I think I said before, I was so exhausted when I started work again I thought I was pregnant because it's the only time I've felt that knackered). It will get better, but it'll just take some time. How're you doing on the 'catching sleep/relaxation when you can' bit- weekends, on the bus, etc. And Freya looks gorgeous, she really does!

DS on his second trial day, fingers X'd.

BeeMyBaby · 07/09/2012 13:32

MissRee I understand your exhaustion completely!

Also getting jealous of all the 8 month checks, might make an appointment for Oct or Nov to get weight etc check before 13 month check/ MMR. Does anyone know if getting the MMR might be a problem if you think they've already had Rubella? (My mother always says my sisters IBD was a result of having rubella, then the rubella vaccine, then the MMR, as it started very shortly after that).
