MissRee, if that's your designated space in your contract it's prob fine but those big companies can be v aggressive so don't let yourself be bullied! I'd ask at your local citizens advice bureau maybe?

KateM77 · 20/08/2012 12:05

Meant to send sympathies to northern yesterday about the job situation. Hope you and DP manage to get it sorted out somehow.

I'm sitting in the car on the drive with both DC's asleep in the back. Went to try and get DD's feet measured as I'm pretty sure she needs new shoes, but it'll have to wait until the older children are back at school. Shoe shops are carnage at the moment and I had to abandon due to grumpy DS!

OiMissus · 20/08/2012 13:00

SCongrats to Mrs DSM
Sympathies to northern about DP's job woes, and to bjr about poomageddon and sickness.
Bleurgh here. In summary: Boi not sleeping. Work being ultra challenging. And am so paranoid about losing my job. DH has had no joy on the job front thus far.
Gotta dash. Can't be seen to be on t'interweb during work time!!

BeeMyBaby · 20/08/2012 13:48

Kate We bought a start rite home foot measure which we use to save us the trouble of having to check instore all the time, especially when DD1 would grow half a size every 2 months.

Oi Are your DH's bosses willing to write a super good reference or are they still fighting with him?

Anyone checked out the national statistics names that came out last week? I was quite pleased to see that there was about 100 (with various spellings) for DD2s name (even though we are in Scotland so not actually applicable to us, nm).

CherryBlossom27 · 20/08/2012 17:11

Yes 6 teeth now Aethel 2 at the bottom and four at the top...ouch! Hopefully that's it for a little while!

Northern that's a pain, hope you can figure something out with childcare & work. It's hard trying to get a good balance.

Oi hope something comes up soon for your DH and your work gets better!

Thank goodness the weather is cooler today, I think DS and myself are a million times more comfortable and happy today :)

seven77 · 20/08/2012 17:29

bee I just looked, Eva is number 33 so not too common I guess. I'm slightly annoyed though that when we were thinking about names I really liked Kate, but decided against it as I thought it would be popular due to the royal wedding. Katie is quite far down the list but Kate didn't even make the top 100. We don't have many of the most popular ones here do we?

oi is your job uncertain at the minute or is it the pressure of being the sole earner worrying you?

northern hope you've thought through some options about what to do.

We've had DS friend round today, they were very cute playing diggers in the dirt together, and drawing with chalk on the patio. Though he did wet himself (he's 4 and normally very reliable) because he was too busy to go to the toilet Hmm, though thankfully it was outside.

CherryBlossom27 · 20/08/2012 17:55

bee just checked and Lewis is no. 39 on the list. We just went for a name that we both liked and as he was a big chunk at birth (9lb 1oz) I thought Lewis suited him best out of the short list names as he reminded me of Lennox Lewis!

Mine and DH's names aren't to be seen on the top 100....my name is definitely not a MN name at all and a lot of people seem to be naming their bloody Rottweilers and bulldogs by my name lol!

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 20/08/2012 17:59

Hope is 189 on the list i think Grin

BJR · 20/08/2012 18:06

Number 3! Wasn't even on our shortlist but none of the shortlisted names worked he's definately Jack Smile

Kitty5824 · 20/08/2012 18:29

No 47 for Seb.

Just been in tears over the news that they've called off the search at Burnham on Sea. So sad. Sad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/08/2012 18:30

Can someone put a link to the list of names pls. X

KateM77 · 20/08/2012 20:14

baby names list

DS is no. 14 in 2011, and DD was no. 6 in 2010. I am clearly a sheep with no imagination! Either that, or we just liked the names and they were the only ones we could agree on

CherryBlossom27 · 20/08/2012 20:24

Sorry but OMG! Shocking how much some people spend on the other thread about not believing people spend £50 a week on food Shock I felt a bit bad that we have a budget of £200 per month, as when DH and I first moved in together 10 years ago I could do it on £100 a month! Not feeling so bad now :o

AWomanCalledHorse · 20/08/2012 21:29

Cherry, same! £50 gets us food, formula & nappies. We eat relatively healthily (2/3 servings of fruit/veg a day) and everything (aside from gnocchi/pasta) is home made. We're on 3 bottom teeth, 3 top here (and another couple poking through), he likes having his teeth brushed which is great!

Kitty, glad the name isn't more popular, it was the only one that 'fitted' DS. I've really started to love the name John, so if we ever manage to make another one I may have to use it as a middle name.
What names do people love but weren't able to use?

:(, such a gorgeous little boy. DH will hate me for telling t'internet this but he's gotten so emotional over children since DS, hate to think how cut up he'd be next time he's at a bad incident at work.

Northen, hope job situation gets sorted soon, you too Oi.

Suffering from a bloody awful UTI atm, DH has been fantastic. 4 hour drive yesterday, then looked after DS all night & all day today without complaint, and he'll do the same again tomorrow (taking time off work until I'm better) I luff him.

LittleMissFlustered · 20/08/2012 21:45

Sorry been AWOL, been hanging on but have had a couple of better days.

To those ill, I send sympathies:( and for those with job issues I send kippers, swordfish and fervent hope that unions and solicibobs can help!

Congrats to DSM, may the love and laughter from your wedding day live with you always.

No teeth here:) I don't like it when they get teeth, I love the smiles without. I'm weird.

Weather playing havoc with our lungs. Humidity is horrible. Octoboy has been referred back to peadiatric asthma nurse for a checkup.

Off to try to sleep. Minimal chances, but hey! Elder two off to terrorise visit their grandparents later in the week so I can catnap with octoboy for a couple of days:)

we're planning tomorrow to visit (help) the potential monstrosity that is Peppa Pig world. Both DDs inordinately excited already...

If I don't surface by tomorrow evening please send in a search and rescue team and turn the piggy culprits into pork scratchings....

LittleMissFlustered · 21/08/2012 04:30

Mmm, hog roast. Bacon and sausages for breakfast before you go I hope?:o

Just dropping in with a rant but on way to work I just heard on news that a chap who wants to become an American senator said in a debate about abortion that even abortion after rape is wrong because women's bodies can stop themselves from conceiving if it's because of rape. Wow!!! That may be the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/08/2012 08:50

Cherry I do a £200 a month shop and then buy fresh bread, milk & frozen veg every week if we run out.

LMF Thanks Smile Hope Octoboy's asthma isn't playing up too much.

Aethel DD love Peppa pig world. is only a 40 min drive for us too.

Plan for today is sort out the dry cleaning for my dress and get it boxed up nicely do it can be stored properly in the attic and need to go to supermarket for food lol!

LittleMissFlustered · 21/08/2012 09:03

I shop as we need it for meat and such. My freezer is insanely small so it's just one of those unavoidable things. The 'stoxk' cupboard is usually full though, and it's always got tomatoes, pasta and rice in it. I can ship for a pittance as its just me and the kids, but I can't budget for toffee so we tend to spend lots >_

Figgygal · 21/08/2012 13:23

I have to say i have no comprehension what we spend weekly too much i know that !! Our weekly big shop is about £70 then we end up making own lunch arrangements in the week and usually end up in shops in the week as we dont fancy things we have bought. The skunk eats fresh veg (carrots, peppers, beans, swede, cucumber, magetout, corn) which adds up but the overall bill is getting a bit out of hand and we need to reign it in.

Our CM has sent me a pic of ds in his pushchair looking at an exhibit about slavery god only knows where she has taken them today looks very formal.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/08/2012 16:30

Our freezer door was left open overnight so we've lost about £200 worth of freezer stuff Sad

seven77 · 21/08/2012 16:59

Oh no DSM, what a nuisance!

aethel hope you the DDs enjoy peppy pig world, my sister is going at the weekend. Though I must confess I think peppa pig is the worst shite ever made.

London sightseeing tomorrow!

MissRee · 21/08/2012 17:33

Please can it be Friday now? We're off next week and have a whole week with Jack staying with us - very exciting! We already have a beach trip planned for Monday, Chessington on Tuesday and might do a day trip into London too Grin

Thanks for your reply Mopsy, I contacted a company called LEASE in the end who offer free advice and unfortunately they think we don't have the right to use that space now that the coal bunker is gone Sad Still, we haven't heard back from the freeholder in response to our pointing out of this clause so I'm hoping that's the end of it!

We spend about £60 per week on food shopping, plus I buy lunch every day (about £3.50 per day) Blush

Hope all the poorlies are on the mend again and that peppa Aethel survives the day Grin
