Oh, but yay for a toddler proof garden jaggy and impending long walks

I've got the receding hair line / bald patches too scarlet & still losing bucket loads of hair... It's such a state at the minute too so its always scraped back in a ponytail and really obvious :(

I'm only 4lb off pre pg weight but tummy a real mess. Becoming more clear It's the devastation post twin pg vastness, split tummy muscles and CS.. gah.

biscuits, surely that's a good thing about your ds?! Shows he's following the plot, interacting understanding and making sense if it. Surely it means it ranks more highly as a desirable activity that way?! :)

jaggythistle · 08/08/2012 19:36

DS1 normally does the glazed thing too scarlet Grin i try to talk to him about stuff and he remembers next time we watch it though. "mummy look at the "! he has a horrendous nursery rhyme dvd and when the annoying presenter asks "do you have your dancing shoes on?" he points out that he has no shoes on. every time.

Biscuitsandtea · 08/08/2012 19:36

It's so blinking interactive Scarlet that I have no idea what's going on because I can't hear it over the barrage of questions! Grin

jaggythistle · 08/08/2012 19:42

hehe think we're x posting all over the place!

DS2 won't let me escape and make some tea. we have mystery tub of stuff from freezer tonight, mmm.

DreamingOfPeace · 08/08/2012 19:45

Biscuits- its B who's more refluxy. Dh says lactose intolerance is typically terrible runs etc ours don't have ( though not sure I trust him there!) but yes, they're in own room, I put them in own cots this week as S disturbing B but maybe travel cot in our room again... :(

DreamingOfPeace · 08/08/2012 19:53

Y y, x posts everywhere.

Neither of my babies will go the f**k to sleep, can someone please make them before I chuck them out of the window?!

I feel today should be officially over and we should ALL be in bed...

DreamingOfPeace · 08/08/2012 20:05

S smelling v refluxy. I was trying to encourage Dh to keep putting him down awake and only picking him up to comfort briefly, baby whisperer style. He has just said he's refluxy and taken him downstairs already. Hmm He's never going to learn to go to sleep at this rate....

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/08/2012 20:26

My baby won't go to sleep either. Sad Please let this not be a new phase. Last night and tonight, tired baby, go to bed to feed to sleep, curtains shut etc. Present boob. Baby attaches for less than a minute then howls - major, incredibly loud howls with proper tears. She won't calm down until I get back up and start rocking/singing etc. The first time she seemed quite perky, so brought her back through to the living room and she played on her mat for another 20 mins or so. Read some stories, she started crying, tried bed again. More howls. Brought her back, calmed her down, let her pat the dog, decided to try bed while she was calm. I swear, she didn't even take one suck before howling. DH came and took her off into the garden and has been walking around singing to her. She's lying in his arms sucking her fingers and gazing up at him. We haven't had dinner yet and are both knackered. Help!

pommedechocolat · 08/08/2012 20:34

dream- lactose intolerant is really really rare. Cows milk protein intolerance much more likely.

Go to sleep babies!!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/08/2012 21:07

OK, M is asleep for now. It took both of us - I fed her and DH sang to her when she started to howl, so she stopped howling and stared at him, then after a bit turned back to the boob, and then DH played her music on his phone and she lay calmly feeding and listening. Then we turned the music off and she fed and fed and fed and finally fell asleep. Bit of Phantom of the Opera and Simon and Garfunkel did the trick! Of course, it would seem that it now takes two of us and a musical phone to put her to bed, which is a retrograde step. Hmm

Can't face making dinner yet.

jaggythistle · 08/08/2012 21:25

R is conked out on the widgey at last. he was feeding frantically from about 6.30 onwards, although he did pause to puke on me while i read DS1's bedtime story. then scream while i changed his nappy and put his sleepsuit on.

we're having a wee glass of Wine to celebrate the garden being 99% done. decorative stuff only to go.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/08/2012 21:36

Oh yes.

Hugs for Scarlet and Dream re hair loss. I'm sure it will all grow back soon, and also that no one else would notice it.

Scream, Coast dresses are cut for women who have very flat chests. Size 10 basically fits those with B cups, C at the very most. I tried on a million Coast dresses in July last year, 4 months post-pg with DD1 and (unwittingly) pg with M, and the 14s zipped up, fitted on the chest but were unflatteringly loose on the waist and hips. The 12s wouldn't do up over my boobs. So don't get too cast down - you are thin where it counts! Bf boobs are always going to be a bit big for your frame. And I only now fit properly back into a 12 after losing a stone, and I'm 5'2". I now weigh 10 stone 4, and to have a healthy BMI I should be between 7 stone 11 (fat chance!) and 9 stone 11.

Musical, I believe employers have to provide a room for bf women to express in, by law. I hope you can sort something out at your various schools.

Jaggy, Butterfly World is really near me! I've never been, is it good?

Jen, Shock at the movement so early! What a little monkey. Grin

Have been shopping with Mum and got this for M's naming party. Isn't it sweet? It's actually her second outfit - she'll start off in MIL's family christening gown, but she'll want to stand up and the gown is really long, so not v practical. Also some shoes, a cardigan and a lace headband.

jaggythistle · 08/08/2012 21:54

it's ok too there's a big open bit with loads of butterflies that are flying about and landing on people and you can see chrysalis and stuff. they also have scorpions and various other bugs. we took my little cousin a few years ago. also there's a demo where you can hold/touch a tarantula, snake etc.

I'll wave as i pass if we go, shall i Wink. Oo we could have a mini meet up. although DH would look at me like Hmm if i suggested it!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/08/2012 22:06

Sorry to hear about all the not-sleeping babies! In my household it seems to be me who's the worst sleeper! Even when DD finally goes to sleep I can't get to sleep for hours! By which time DD is inevitably awake again!

SFF has actually been happening with more frequency here, and seems to have an inversely proportional effect on the pointless arguing! Perhaps the reason we used to get on so well is because we were having so much nookie before?!? Grin

Too that dress is so pretty!! Is the naming ceremony this weekend?

Does anyone here have a bumbo? We visited a cousin who has one for her DS today, and my DD seemed to really like it. I've been resisting buying one because I'm planning to follow the Baby Whisperer's potty training plan from 9 months* and I'm worried DD might get the potty and bumbo confused. Does anyone recommend the bumbo? Have you had any potty-confusion moments?

We were visiting the cousin to have newborn snuggles with her 1 week old DS2. My broodiness is now through the roof!!!

*This doesn't mean I'll be pushing DD to be wearing normal panties by 1 yr old or anything crazy like that! It just means making the potty an everyday part of life from early on, letting her sit on the potty at key times like when she first wakes up and shortly after a feed. Hopefully as we get to know her habits we'll be able to catch poos in the potty and maybe a few wees. Then when her holding-it muscles develop later on it should be a more natural process for her to move to dry nappies and eventually panties.

scarletfingernail · 08/08/2012 22:32

Nice dress Too, I'm sure M will look beautiful.

I just remembered the latest incident re a Sainsbos staff member making a ridiculous comment. (We seem to have had a few on these threads) I was waiting for a prescription yesterday for Cannesten for thrush brought on by the 1 and only SFF almost 2 weeks ago when the lady on the till asked me how old my DS was. DS was at home with my Mum at the time, so I was a bit Confused and then she pointed to DD. I said she's 14 weeks. Woman said "Oh sorry, it's because she's wearing blue" Me (in my head) "Yes, she's wearing a blue DRESS" Apparently babies are boys if they're wearing anything other than pink Hmm

Dream Sorry to hear your hair is suffering too Sad I assume your DH would know if there was anything that could be done to prevent it from getting worse? I won't bother wasting my GP's time if that's the case Sad

Scream Are you sure it's SFF you're up to? Or could there be a BFP in a few weeks time? No Bumbo here, but I think Biscuits and Purple both have them.

Jaggy I hope you get the 1st SFF out of the way soon. I felt relieved to know that everything's in working order but I'm in no hurry to do it again just yet

Biscuitsandtea · 08/08/2012 22:53

C quick as I'm heading to bed but re the bumbo we do have one. It's ok, DS is alright with it but doesn't love it. I think re confusion with the potty though bumbos are only any good for before they can sit independently (I think?) so would be a distant memory by 9 months. Ds1 was quite late sitting and even he managed it by 7 months. I think that's right re the bumbo. We got ours second hand off eBay (I don't know what they cost new but are effectively one great big moulded lump so easy to give a good thorough clean before letting your PFB sit in it Grin)

Right night night all xxx

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/08/2012 23:22

Grin at Scarlet

Thanks Biscuits!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/08/2012 23:51

By the way, Purple do you happen to have anymore magical Mothercare codes?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/08/2012 06:23

Oh and also re the bumbo, I'm not entirely sure on this but I think there might be a bit of a debate about how long babies should sit in them? My understanding (from doing Jo research whatsoever) is that whilst they help them to support their neck / back for sitting, they keep the hips / legs in one fixed position so shouldn't be used for long periods of time. Not a problem here as DS won't tolerate it for more than probably 5 mins and probably only goes in it a couple of times a week, but I guess the point is that you can't use them for long periods like you would a bouncy chair (I don't even know if any babies would stick it for that long?)

We have the tray too - that's quite useful as otherwise I think DS gets a wee bit bored unless there is something to watch, so sometimes I use it while i read ds1's bedtime story.

I have one wisdom tooth which has been coming through in fits and starts for about 15 years now. So every joe and gain it starts up again. And it has obviously decided to come out in sympathy of ds2. Ouch Sad. I can hardly open my mouth which is somewhat inconvenient Sad.

Hope everyone else is well and those breaking babies slept well xx

Biscuitsandtea · 09/08/2012 06:25

Wow - a Jo and a Joe sneaked into my post there. Hmm

Jo = no
Joe = now

jaggythistle · 09/08/2012 06:39

i am trying to contain a snort of laughter at Jo/joe! DH is never impressed when i sit and giggle at Mumsnet. I've had to try not to read funny threads at night. Grin

R did sleep well and was only up once at 3.30, that was him again till 6.30 Shock think that's 4 times he's been up only once...

Biscuitsandtea · 09/08/2012 07:03

Good work R - moving in the right direction Smile. More of the same please Smile

pommedechocolat · 09/08/2012 08:20

A has a bumbo - spends about 15 mins in it every am while I shower. It's ok. She reaches out a lot and ends up a bit skew whiff. She can pull herself back but seems to prefer slouching over the side.

In other news - she can go some unaided sitting - woo hoo!!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/08/2012 08:34

Wowsers pomme that's awesome - well done A Grin

E seems miles and miles away from sitting - he's still completely floppy if I put him in a sitting position iyswim. I know he'll get there eventually so am not worried but I can't imagine it being for ages yet!

How old is A now? I can't believe E was 5 mths yesterday Shock

Am I right Pomme that you wouldn't use a bumbo once they can confidently sit independently? I can't remember if I've just made it up Hmm

DreamingOfPeace · 09/08/2012 09:08

My friend used her bumbo, which I have now, til her ds2 was 1 as a highchair with the tray on and sat it on her table (against all advice to use it on a table o know) . My DD hated it, she thought it was the baby stocks!! Not used it with the dts. S could do it, hes a million times stronger than B which I'm trying not to worry about and not to compare them unsuccessfully for both .

Why does my phone just show me the monsoon home page not M's dress, or shoes??? Angry

Wow jaggy, once a night! Yay! B is doing once or twice too, though needs reburping twice after each usually so two false starts at going back to bed for me

scream, I'm also struggling to get to sleep despite being exhausted.

Got S to sleep in his cot ay 4am. Took a loooong time, but I feel I'm starting to try and improve things iykwim.
