mopsytop · 23/07/2012 07:39

Minim much more like her usual self thus morning, maybe the antibiotics have started kicking in. Yay! Also gladi decidedto travel as wd have been disappointed if I hadn't. And she's fine!

xiao rubbish re work. Sounds like nightmare commute.

DSM, not long to go now. You must be getting majorly excited.

cherry, sounds like you're doing a brilliant job. Stressful though for all concerned.

Sorry, on my phone and feeding a wriggly baby so can't remember what else I was goingto day!

LittleMissFlustered · 23/07/2012 08:49

Morning all. Glorious day here, so we're going to go out and enjoy it.

Hope Monday is kind to you all:)

seven77 · 23/07/2012 09:00

Banbury. Up at 3.30 which I think is the worst night since she gave up night feeds at 9 weeks. When she wakes up she doesn't need settling again she's just wide awake and ready to get up, she didn't even sleep much yesterday. Still, the sun is shining to we're meeting friends in the park for a picnic and the boys can play football together.

We're going to a different park tomorrow and meeting another somewhat local home-educator for the first time. I think it'll feel more real then, we're trying to make an effort to meet people with DC's the same age as DS friend starts school in September.

Glad she's better mopsy, hope you're having a good time.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/07/2012 11:49

Mopsy Glad MiniM is on the mend Smile

Xiao Hoping your work request is accepted.

Aethel Hope DS enjoys the sun.

Getting very excited about the wedding under 4 weeks now hehe. Really hope the fabulous weather stays with us for the day Grin

Sky is having a nap, so Darcie & me are going to have some lunch and once Little Lady is awake we are going to walk to the park Smile

Figgygal · 23/07/2012 12:27

A walk in the park would be nice i am sat in an office in cardiff without air con trying to pick up the shit that hit the fan when was off on Friday. I reallly love my friday's with little man but find getting ready for them on a thursday and then picking up the pieces on Monday when i am back not much fun!!

KateM77 · 23/07/2012 13:25

Feeling rather Banbury here. DS is now only having 3oz at 5 or 6am, but i'm up more in the night with him at the moment than when I was feeding him. He's waking more often and taking longer to settle with each night. Had to resort to controlled crying last night Sad keep telling myself to stick at it and that he will eventually sleep through. I hope that's the case! Also spent the weekend cleaning up after DD and her exploding rear end. So far so good today though, so hope she's shifted that bug!

mopsy so pleased minim ok now. Have a great time with your sister.

figgy I really had to learn the art of delegation when I went back part-time after DD. Is that an option for you?

aethelfleda · 23/07/2012 13:30

Aaarg (insert swearword of choice)

Had a successful trip out, planned to avoid the heat of the day:
Trip to Wilcos for some cheap but functional new curtains (tip from housemoving website: if you have prized bespoke cool kiddy blackout curtains with rocket ships on, change and store them BEFORE you try to flog the house, it stops buyers coveting them. ) went on to the park for 90 mins of charging about. All fine til we got home to see DD2 was sans glasses: she claimed to have put them next to her carseat but no sign of them anywhere in the car. She has to have them, replacements without the voucher will cost £100 ish, her old ones are manky and the wrong prescription.... I just can't face dragging the three of them back to the car in this heat. My nice childminder lives near the park and might be over there later but I am just annoyed/stressed as it will be a huge faff to replace them. Grrrrr.

mopsytop · 23/07/2012 15:23

How annoying aethel, you must be fuming :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/07/2012 16:04

Aethel How annoying Sad hope you sort it easily soon.

We are in the shade at Havant Park whilst Darcie plays and we wait for my mum to meet us here. Smile

aethelfleda · 23/07/2012 19:29

Hooray!! Got my dad over for a second pair of eyes and we found them wedged right under the seat. Phew.

Spent the afternoon dodging the heat while the DDs ran around in fancy dress and paddled. DS a bit grumpy but can't tell if it's teeth, heat or the cough/snot he can't quite shift.

xiao hope the work chat went ok-ish, and jiggle did you decide to go and see your GP?

NorthernChinchilla · 23/07/2012 21:15

Oh that's great news aethel! Such a bugger when you lose things like that, which are expensive but absolute must-haves, and you really resent shelling out. Will the specs be sewn onto threads and run down her sleeves like mittens now Grin?

Dentists for me and DS this morning. I'm lucky, my teeth are in good nick (which is a miracle given the lumps of metal that pass for teeth in both my Mum and Dad's mouths- DP is the same as is his family), but I need the one filling that I've got replacing.
It is at least 20 years old to be fair!
But I'm going to have a white one- £100, but will use my savings as I don't believe it's a cost I can reasonably expect the joint account to bear.

DS has had a little rubbery, chewy toothbrush for the past two weeks, it's great! Found it at Waitrose when we visited my Dad. He cheerfully munches on it whilst he's being changed for bed, multi-tasking family that we are Grin. We've got some special baby toothpaste too, which basically gets waved in the vicinity of toothbrush, it's the most miniscule bit I put on.

Sorry the offspring have co-ordinated some Banbury nights for you all, hope tonight's better.

OP posts:
Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2012 22:26

aethel so pleased they turned up!

northern DS has a little pink chewy toothbrush too but he has yet to figure it out - spends more time chewing on the handle than the brush part Hmm

Well I took the plunge and spoke to the senior partner in my department today. He was very nice but said we couldn't talk about it without HR present, so I have a meeting over coffee with my HR partner tomorrow afternoon! I have no idea how it will pan out but at least I feel like I'm moving forward. I'm going to present it as a commute issue, not a child-related issue, ask for Mon/Tues/Thurs in the office and Weds/Fri at home and see what happens.

It's amazing how stress can affect one's physical state - over the last week or two my feet have exploded in pompholyx eczema, my face has exploded in spots, I'm often short of breath when sitting at my desk and - this is really weird - my expressed breast milk is bluey green. (Actually I have no idea whether that the breastmilk one is actually stress but I just noticed it this week.)

Anyway Thanks to you all for your support and encouragement.

aethelfleda · 24/07/2012 08:40

Morning girls. today is brought to you by a massive load of comedown-from-BFing-hormones. planning a quietish day, PYO farm this morning and then hiding from the heat. I feel rubbish already...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/07/2012 08:47

Morning Ladies.

Aethel So glad you found the glasses Smile

Xiao Hoping your meeting over coffee goes okay today.

Well Sky slept all night and is only just waking up now. Grin

Day of making cakes and enjoying the weather again today Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 24/07/2012 08:59

I have a vile brainache today. I'd love to camp out in the living room but it's gardening today, and I've got help coming so I can't really get out of it:( Drugs and coffee. Well, when I've been to get milk there'll be coffee >_

Xiaoxiong · 24/07/2012 09:34

(((((aethel))))) is all I can say. If you were here I would feed you some Yog frozen yoghurt. I got some at the supermarket and ate half a carton yesterday - it's cold, healthy and soothing to the soul.

Xiaoxiong · 24/07/2012 09:34

Hmm I think it would help you too LMF...

hawthers · 24/07/2012 09:34

Oh god hadn't even contemplated the loss of the happy hormones... Poor you aethel

First day back from holiday yesterday and all the good vibes gained whilst away lost pretty rapidly when DS1 whacked me over the head with a stick Angry Sad he is usually a really sweet boy but since DS2's arrival there has been a fair amount of hitting me. Pretty sure its just an attention thing but still rather unpleasant and results in me getting into it with him. He is also totally fixated on his daddy so I just feel like evil telling off lady ALL the time and get batted for my trouble. Think I still need those happy bf hormones!

KateM77 · 24/07/2012 10:18

DS slept 7-5, had 3oz and then slept until 7.30 Grin. Lets hope it wasn't a one-off!

xiao hope the meeting goes well today

hawthers sorry to hear about DS1 hitting you. DD has been a bit like that since DS came along too, although she tends to hit me or DS with hands or scream in my face rather than inflict any real pain. It still really upsets me to have to then play bad cop though - similarly, she doesn't behave like that for Daddy.

Sending happy and cooling vibes to all

seven77 · 24/07/2012 10:43

aethel glad the glasses turned up! Take it easy today, would treating yourself to something help? Even just a nice meal and a glass of Wine at home with DH once the DC's have gone to bed?

xiao good luck with the meeting, my fingers are crossed for you.

hawthers no advice but I hope it improves soon.

We're having our picnic with the home educating family at the park later. Only there's no shade and it's sweltering already. Eva is also a bit grumpy today, i think it's just too hot for her, poor winter babies! We've been invited round to a friends house to play in the paddling pool so I'm hoping to get back in good time. We're also having an impromptu BBQ for tea to make the most of it, I at even buy pimms.

LittleMissFlustered · 24/07/2012 11:23

My parents are here helping with the garden. I hate gardening, so it's much appreciated!

Figgygal · 24/07/2012 13:16

Well we had another night of 2am, 4am and finally 6am wake ups from wee man, not sure if he is too hot or gets cold as he is not in his bag and kicks his blanket off overnight either way i am stumbling about today wishing i drank coffee. It is ok for him if he wants to go back to sleep at 7.15 not so much for me gah.

Honestly he is loving me back at work yesterday he went to a local farm park, today he is going to a local lake to feed the ducks play on the swings, tomorrow he is going to slimbridge with daddy to see the birds and thursday he is going to the national arboretum...by the time i have him on Friday he will be knackered and i will have to think about what to do with him. Want to avoid the swimming pool while it is school hols but might brave it.

xiao good luck with your meeting, ultimately whether your proposal is accepted is your bosses decision and not HR, dont let them try to fob you off if they say HR refuse it. Obviously speaking as someone who works in HR we so often get the blame for things like this because it is easier for management to say it is our decision and deflect anger away from them when actually it isnt.

OiMissus · 24/07/2012 13:23

Hi al - I really need to catch up on this thread, sorry. I'll get my mum to write me an absense note.
Xiao - I get that eczema on one foot. And my face is a mass of spots at the moment ... ever since, errr... coming back to work!
Am taking BOi to the docs this afternoon as he has horrid nappy rash around his genitals. I just thought it was nappy rash, so am using metanium but it's not getting better. Mum thought it could be eczema. - I've just looked online and now I think it's a reaction to the new Huggies Super Dry nappies... We've been swapping them and the normal tescos ones, sporadically. so ew need to cut them out and see if that makes a difference. We kept getting leaks in the night - hence the super day purchase when they were on offer.
And I am no longer bfing at all. For 3-4 days now I have been bf-free. I miss it a bit. But am enjoying my new shape thanks to underwire technology. The boobs are saggier than before, it can't be doubted, but they seem to be the same size as my "old" bras still fit. I am luxuriating in Aubade today. I am in lingerie heaven. now if i could just get rid of the haemmeroid irritation left over from pg and bf I may be able to bring out the thongs again.

BJR · 24/07/2012 14:25

Just had DS's first settling session at nursery, and he seemed to love it. Stormed round for an hour and a half playing and bulldozing babies, barely a glance at Mummy! Feeling a little more real that i'll have to leave him now although I know it will be fine.

Hope all are well and enjoying having a bit of sunshine. Must catch up and read rest of thread when the sun goes away Smile

OiMissus · 24/07/2012 15:21

I apologise for my mass of typos and lack of sense. I was awaiting a conference call and so rushed it.
In other news, (seven your paddling pool idea really appeals) in Tesco yesterday I bumped into a friend of a friend who used to spend a lot of time on my new street when he was little. Apparently lots of time was spent at one house with a swimming pool (quad the f**k! - as my latin friends would politely exclaim!) I'll have to google earth it and see who I need to make friends with.
