Updating a little late but DD slept through until 5.15am with no wake ups! No idea what happened there, just hope she does it again. She only went back to sleep at 6.30 though, and then we're all up at 7. Oh well, I got 6 hours in a row which was good!

I had things to say to people but as usual they've flown out of my head. Someone mentioned blackout blinds, we have them in every room upstairs except the bathroom! Oh and co-sleeping just doesn't seem to work with DD, she finds it very exciting and thinks its playtime so bats me on the face, pulls my hair, and whacks me in the face with her comforter. Not condusive to sleep!

I am eating so much crap and blaming it on sleep deprivation. Oh well...

Wish I was in the south of France!

MissRee · 17/07/2012 16:23

Arggghhh... work shoes = ouchy feet!!!

seven77 · 17/07/2012 17:35

for minigee! Perhaps she was just being a little sod monkey and waiting until you were desperate! Anyway, hope it continues, and Eva still wakes between 4.30 and 5.30 every morning. I know I shouldn't complain compared to how little sleep some are getting but it's getting a bit tedious now.

BJR I agree they're definitely growing up too fast!

We went out for dinner last night, though I realised that in every dress I own I still look at least 6 months pregnant Blush. The diet new healthy lifestyle has started today. We've also decided to wait around 6 weeks before we start ttc again, I really want to go to London with DH for the marathon, and I'm not going about to drop/leaving a newborn for the weekend/taking one with us!

KateM77 · 17/07/2012 20:56

So pleased to hear you had a better night gee. I wish we would here. They're tag teaming at the moment. Last night I had to settle DS at 8, 9, and 10, feed him at 1 and 6, and settle DD at 11.30 and 4 Sad

Well done with the boobs aethel. I went shopping for new underwear today because my boobs have shrivelled back down now returned to normal size Grin

I think we turned a small corner today with DS. He had his first decent sized meal. He now only picks up toast or breadsticks, and has started eating things from the spoon (grimace fraud is a hit!), so I made a lentil and veg puree and gave it to him for lunch today. He had lots of it, and then some fruit from a jar too. The only slight problem is that he likes to grab the spoon, and looked like an oompa loompa by the time lunch was over Smile.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/07/2012 21:06

Hopefully the ouchy feet have been the biggest problem of the day MissRee and you have sailed through returning to work! Hope the coach wasn't too grim and F was happy at her Nanny's- did you forget anything btw Grin?

Hoorah for your DD Gee, and digits twisted for a repeat performance for you. The day after you sleep well for the first time in ages you tend to feel like shite warmed up, but two nights' good sleep and you'll feel ready to take on the world!

And did you say 5 hours of naps cherry? FIVE HOURS?! Good grief, what do you do with all that time Wink? As I've known nothing different, DS' having 2-3 30-45 minute naps during the day seems normal, but I get the feeling if he were a second or third baby I'd be peeved!

And now aethel, you're the medically inclined one, what can we do to stop our LOs from growing up so quickly- what works for stunting development at 7 months Grin?

Early night for an early start tomorrow, so toddling off for a bit of TV....

And can I just get in a pre-emptive Banbury? Been in to DD twice and DS once already since bedtime tonight. It's gonna be a long night!

MissRee · 17/07/2012 21:52

Hope they settle for you Kate

I think the only thing I forgot was the rain cover for the buggy! Nanny said F was an absolute angel all day. They went and visited a friend who fell in love with her Grin

It wasn't as bad as I expected (as all you lovely ladies had advised) and I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I've even applied for promotion, for which I have an interview tomorrow! Eek!

Coach was slow going this morning but pretty clear tonight (most importantly). The walk from work to Tower Hill nearly killed me though - I'd forgotten how crap it is because I couldn't do it towards the end of my pregnancy so had been getting the tube!

KateM77 · 17/07/2012 21:57

Thanks MissRee glad you had a good day. I probably used to waddle past you late last year - I was catching the DLR from Tower Gateway. Good luck for the interview tomorrow

seven77 · 17/07/2012 22:34

missree she'd have probably said that regardless, I'm certain my mum does! Glad it went ok though, good luck with the interview!

kate hope they settle ok. Glad DS is eating well and now taking a spoon, I definitely prefer the purée route.

I'm getting jealous of all of your LO's enjoying grimace fraud. I think I'm going to try Eva on it tomorrow, wish us luck! She seemed fine on the odd bottle of formula, it was only when I tried increasing her to two bottles a day that the problem came back so it'll hopefully be fine.

aethelfleda · 18/07/2012 06:06

DS behaved well last night, bless him, though my house is a chinese laundry from the weekend and the less said about my to-do list the better. Jealous of the undies-shopping Kate, well done!

Sorry northern, no solutions to growing babies here!

GeeandTee · 18/07/2012 08:33

Not great but only every 1-2.5 hrs instead of 10 minutes. Bleurgh. DS very grizzly this morning though so have two clingy children hanging onto me today. Will be interesting...

CherryBlossom27 · 18/07/2012 08:48

Morning everyone,

I think DS is going to have his front top two teeth cutting through soon, his gum feels hard, but he seems happy in himself, so I'll just keep on checking his mouth for new teeth :o

Figgy I've been thinking about 1st Birthday parties too - scary! I think it will just be family and a few close friends as DS's birthday is Christmas Eve and it will be a normal working day.

Gee that's good news! Hope LO keeps up the good work!

Seven Yup, I'm with you on the excercise/healthy eating front! I did an hours worth of the Davina DVD, but DH undid my good work by buying me a cookie (it would have been rude to say no thanks!).

Northern Oh yes, 5 hours of naps a day at the moment! DS has been napping around 9am-11.30am and 3pm-5pm ish! I think he's physically exhausted because he doesn't stop moving and getting up on all fours. He's trying so hard to crawl bless him! I'm being lazy and having one nap a day when DS does and the other one either preparing dinner or doing some bits of housework. DS did go through a horrible phase where he wouldn't nap during the day at all, so I'm enjoying it whilst it lasts!

Kate hope last night was ok in the end!

MissRee that's good it went well yesterday! Good luck for the interview!

KateM77 · 18/07/2012 09:49

Cherry the DC's settled, which was good. DS woke for feeds at 12.45 and 5.45. Unfortunately my body has clearly decided that sleep is for wimps, and I couldn't get back to sleep until 3.30 after the first feed Sad

Seven I really do prefer the puree route, but will still give DS some finger foods. We haven't totally sorted the eating yet unfortunately. He still refuses to eat breakfast, no matter what I offer him or when I offer it to him, and yesterday he barely ate any tea after his good lunchtime efforts. I think he's teething again which isn't helping. I'm going to get him weighed today so will see what HV says. We seem to be getting further away from sleeping through than we have been in the past too, and that's the bit I'd love to crack!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/07/2012 09:59

Hope everyone is doing well and those of you who have gone back to work this week have done alright Smile Can't name check as on my phone.

BLW is going well for us. Sky is currently eating an AK breakfast bar & Rice cakes.

My baby's last day at infant school tomorrow Sad Can't believe my baby is growing into a young lady.....scary thought!

In 30 days I am marrying my love, my best friend & my rock and I can't wait Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/07/2012 09:59

Also Sky slept 7:30pm to 8am Grin

MissRee · 18/07/2012 10:06

I had to wake Freya up to get her dressed this morning, the little pickle Grin

Sorry to hear you didn't get much sleep Kate Sad

So, it's mine and DP's anniversary next Friday and I'm trying to think of something fab to get him/do for him. Any ideas?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/07/2012 10:12

MissRee What does your DP like to do?

MissRee · 18/07/2012 10:15

Umm... He used to do kickboxing/MMA but had to stop because of his back. He likes food (trained chef) but is on a very strict fat stripping diet at the moment. He likes his PS3 but doesn't get much time to play it any more. He loves cars but I do believe he's done all the track days/red letter day thingies.

He's a pain in the bum Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/07/2012 10:22

MissRee Can you arrange a sitter and have a romantic evening together? Candlelit dinner, movie etc

MissRee · 18/07/2012 10:24

Not really, as I said, he's on a very strict diet at the mo (think Jody Marsh's body builder diet) and isn't due a "treat" day until the following Tuesday (its v v v complicated)!

He's already not coming out for dinner with me and my parents next Saturday as he wouldn't be able to eat anything!

LittleMissFlustered · 18/07/2012 10:26

Can I get a Banbury?! BANBURY!

The highlight of last night was holding octoboy out over the edge of my bed so he could avoid spewing all over my sheets:( High temps, fractured sleep and refused feeds still. Hoping it ends sometime soon, it's been going on for the best part of a fortnight.

Hope everyone has a good day:)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/07/2012 11:20

MissRee oh right! Um then I'm out of options!

LMF Hope Octoboy is better soon.

KateM77 · 18/07/2012 12:28

Oh LMF that sucks! Hope things improve for you and Octoboy soon

MissRee sorry, no ideas. He really is difficult to buy for...and I'd thought my DH was bad!

Figgygal · 18/07/2012 12:52

Afternoon

I thought when lo woke at 4 this morning great its wednesday DH is on duty as he is off work today but oh no he had a bad back so i still had to get up and do the feed grrr. Will have to let him off as he had to do all the boy care when i was sick at weekend and peel me off the bathroom floor at least once.

On the weaning front ds is really good with mush and with finger foods which is just as well as after the first batch of puree took me 1.5hrs to do about 7 weaning tray cubes i thought sod this!! He tends to eat what we having just mashed up or if we having something we know is unhealthy/a bit too salty he has an emergency jar or just some steamed mixed veg. He has never refused anything though so i guess we have been lucky so far but he was very unimpressed the grape i tried to give him last night (peeled of skin of course = pfb). To me BLW sounds like a lot of mess, a lot of waste and encouraging them to eat with their hands isnt surely a good thing. ....BUT each to their own Smile.

Missree yes that sounds difficult what about your local groupon i always find random things on there.

LittleMissFlustered · 18/07/2012 14:21

Hanging in there, hope you're all doing fab!

Advice:

Party planning for the boychild. I've got a bouncy castle and party games, I'm just wanting to check I've not missed something obvious on the food front >_<

Sandwiches
Sausage rolls
Pizza
Chicken goujons and mozzarella sticks for me
Crisps/cheesy biscuits
Veg sticks, bread sticks and dip
Fruit
Squash and lemonade.

There will be cake also:o

Any glaring omissions? I can't think straight and unusually do parties that are pre-prepped and paid for >_< :o
