AnAirOfHope · 14/07/2012 21:27

Hope has just pulled herself up to standing on her own for the first time tonight :-)

BeeMyBaby · 14/07/2012 21:37

air well done Hope!

Another accident here, dd2 had pulled herself up using a wooden table (she does this alot so I thought nothing of it) and for some reason her legs buckled suddenly and she hit her top gums off the table = blood. Very lucky she has no top teeth yet as she would have broken them, instead she just has a little chunk out of her gum but is already back to chewing on things so I'm hoping she's fine, though DH says if her top teeth come in funny then its my fault because of this.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/07/2012 21:49

Air Well Done to Hope Smile

Swear Sky said Dada tonight! However, it was only the once and quite fast so can't be sure. She seems fine in herself and I know they bump and bruise themselves. It is just shocking the first time they do it Sad

aethelfleda · 14/07/2012 21:50

for your DH Bee, how unhelpful of him!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/07/2012 21:56

Bee That's not nice of your DH!

DP was really understanding and said thanks for telling him Sky had fallen off the bed and that things will happen. We just need to be a little more careful now she's mobile Smile

seven77 · 14/07/2012 22:03

bee I'm sure her teeth will still come through fine, for your DH though. Was it you who's DD used the razor and DH made an unhelpful comment?

Well done hope! I'm actually quite relieved Eva isn't at that stage yet though tbh!

aethel sounds like you've finally worn him down, glad reclaim the boob is going well.

BeeMyBaby · 14/07/2012 22:45

Blush yes seven... didn't help that when we were away visiting inlaws I was having a shower with DD1, who was touching the shaving foam on my legs whilst I was shaving my legs, and I accidentally shaved off the top of her nail and a little finger, so had to hand her over to DH to fix. I could go on with a couple of other incidents which had MIL freaking out but I think taking a step back and looking at myself, I am not very careful with the DDs, or I treat them as if they are older and more capable than they actually are.

If you think that you DC is allergic to something, how do you check? does rubbing it against their skin work? DD2 went all rashy for a few days last week and I think it was either strawberries, oven chips or a virus. I rubbed a chip against her leg (DD1 seems to be allergic to the oil off some oven chips) but nothing happened...

Figgygal · 15/07/2012 09:07

Sorry not caught up have been in bed since 8 last night I can barely stand up, my arms and legs hurt, I'm freezing cold and I threw up about 7 times last night .

I can't risk carrying lo as feel weak and shivery and trying to keep away from him incase he catches it. Sad

MissRee · 15/07/2012 09:14

That sounds like a nasty bug Figgy Sad hope you feel better soon!

So much to do today, better get on Confused

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/07/2012 09:26

Figgy That sounds nasty. Feel better soon x

DP enjoyed his Stag Smile

seven77 · 15/07/2012 10:58

bee probably depends how bad the allergy is? Im sure aethel will know.

Hope you feel better soon and LO manages to avoid it.

Sweeping and mopping done and washing out, it's meant to be wet for the rest of the week after today.

seven77 · 15/07/2012 10:59

Sorry the middle part was for figgy.

GeeandTee · 15/07/2012 15:01

Hope you feel better soon figgy.

MORE rain? I am getting so sick of this! Feels like I'm not making the most of maternity leave when it is so wet its hard to do anything.

Just bought DS a doll's house as he is really getting into imaginary play. I built it during his lunchtime nap, can't wait to see his face when he sees it :) just need to find the time to paint it at some point. I have hidden his favourite Raa Raa toys in there too (a CBeebies programme for those of you without older kids!).

DD was up every 2-3 hrs again so dairy didn't seem to make things any worse. I'm telling myself it is just a phase!

hawthers · 15/07/2012 17:44

I know this is a sensitive subject so apologies but I'm having some difficulties in deciding when to give up bf. I do all the feeds apart from the bedtime one which is 200ml of high calorie formula.

I wanted to get to 6 months and I have plus I'm off to a wedding sans children at beg Sept and I thought I'd have given up by then but I guess I'm not ready to yet.

But I'm really really fed up of not being confident that he has fed enough. My worry is that it is a one way process and I don't want to regret it as I may not be lucky enough to have another baby so this may be my last chance to bf.

I just can't make up my mind and I know I don't have to but I'd like some plan!

Thoughts anyone?

NorthernChinchilla · 15/07/2012 17:48

Oh dear figgy, so possibly not dodgy ham sandwiches for your OH then, but a grim virus? Or is it just really unhappy coincidence?

Back from my Dad's- we didn't have to go in the pool, yay! Nope, we just landed and got asked if we'd mind doing the catering.... So they all went off and DP and I made up and cooked fresh pizza for 20, plus sossies and nibbles (thankfully the dough was made). I love families, don't you Confused?

I don't think it sounds like that at all Bee, I think it's just one of those things. Like with DSM, you turn your back, or they get interested in something, and whoops, there it goes! Glad your LOs seem fine by the way. And I can't remember your circumstances Bee, but if you're the one at home with them most of the time, then the majority of the accidents are bound to happen with you, simply by the law of averages iyswim!

And a massive 'good luck' to MissRee, I guess you're not feeling wonderful at the moment, but I'm sure tomorrow will go fine.

Curry and a nice glass of red here for dinner...and I can hear DP singing 'oh little DS is wide awake' over the monitor! He generally has two naps of about 45 minutes per day, sometimes a third, but he's really not one for spending any time asleep that he doesn't have to Grin!

MissRee · 15/07/2012 19:26

Thanks Northern, I'm not feeling too bad at the moment. I've got her bag(s) sorted and ready to go, just need to add bottles and grimace fraud in the morning. It's going to seem strange carrying a handbag and not a suitcase for the first time in six months!

Had a meltdown at my parents yesterday. I told Jack off for being naughty and my Dad made some snarky comment about me being "stressed about going back to work on Monday". So not only was I pissed at him seemingly undermining me telling J off, he chose absolutely the wrong thing to say and I just flipped at him Sad have apologised for snapping now and he's also apologised so all is good.

MissRee · 15/07/2012 19:26

Grimace fraud should of course be fromage frais!!!

hawthers · 15/07/2012 19:55

missree good luck. It's tough but I am 100% sure that DS1 has benefited by going to nursery. It has helped him develop and become very sociable. Focus on the good bits!

OiMissus · 15/07/2012 20:03

BOi loves grimace fraud!
Hope you feel better soon figgy
Good luck tomorrow missree
Had a v productive day here. Lots of box sortage done, and as the weather has been so nice, we took a break to have a martini on the balcony for the first time.
I'm working from home tomorrow. The washer and dryer are coming after 2!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/07/2012 20:21

We've watched the Olympic Torch pass thru Portsmouth tonight. All in bed now tho and hoping to get a full nights sleep. Weird as not Sky keeping me awake at night - its my stupid body Sad poxy back, hips and knees!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/07/2012 20:42

Good Luck tomorrow MissRee

MissRee · 15/07/2012 20:58

Sorry but urgent post. F's temp has gone up to 39.4, she's had the sbiffles but otherwise fine. Have stripped off to nappy and given calpol. What else? Docs?

LittleMissFlustered · 15/07/2012 21:20

Ibuprofen too. Ring out of hours for advice if you want, they will not mind. Cool flannel tucked into armpits can help.

The calpol and ibu should work within an hour, though the temp may come down slowly.

NorthernChinchilla · 15/07/2012 21:34

If you're saying 'I'm not ready yet' hawthers then I'd take that as your answer. If you enjoy it, and so does DS, then there's no reason to stop. It might be psychologically easier to drop a single feed and see how you feel about that.
If F is tracking a centile OK then he's having enough, but I know that won't help if you feel anxious about it.
If you go down to the 'traditional' first thing and last thing feeds then it'd be far easier to manage the wedding for you and DS, in terms of pumping and him not having a wrench for a day on the practical side.

Glad you're not feeling too bad MissRee; I'd actually read grimace fraud as it was- thought it was your way of saying you'd have a smile plastered on your face come what may tomorrow as a way of getting through it! Hope F is OK overnight.

Sleep well DSM, hope the various bits don't keep you awake.

MissRee · 15/07/2012 21:38

Thanks LMF, we dont have any ibu so will stick to calpol for now.

I can't tell whether it's a rash on her torso or where she's just so hot! It disappears with a glass tho.
