Does anyone have a mei tei?

Just been looking at the pics on the fb group there's so much change in them all Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 07/07/2012 18:28

I've friends with mei tai and they love them.

seven77 · 07/07/2012 18:33

honey you're a bad influence, don't tempt me :o

Thanks for the reassurance northern, it was only a little and it's stopped now.

We had a mass projectile vomit here earlier. She had her tea then started screaming in the highchair until she gave herself a coughing fit. I picked her up and she was sick all over both of us, all of her tea, the nurofen I'd just given her and I reckon most of her last milk feed too. Needless to say she had an early bath!

mopsytop · 07/07/2012 18:46

Minimopsy's temp is now 38.3. Gave her more ibuprofen. Do I just keep an eye on her now? Do I need to take her to doctor? Don't even know where it is down here. No idea what's wrong, guess it's another virus. She ate three times today & took three bottles so that's ok. She's just got a temp, is a bit miserable and sleeping a lot. Advice?

aethelfleda · 07/07/2012 18:59

mopsy, if you ring your relative's usual GP they will put you through to the Out of hours doctor service, who will take your details and a doc can ring you back for advice and arrange to see minimopsy if they/you are concerned. It's hard to be sure with little ones: 6 months is when babies start raising temperatures with bugs as their immune system develops, the important thing is locating a cause. Keep her fluid intake up, refuce clothing layers, try to get her temp below 38 and get some formal advice and it will hopefully be "just" a throat/ear virus. good luck!

mopsytop · 07/07/2012 19:15

At what stage sd I ring? She's ok at the moment apart from temp and is drinking her bottle and alert, not too unhappy.

KateM77 · 07/07/2012 19:31

Ah, poor minim I can't believe she's poorly again Sad

aethel I feel a bit of a fraud to be your mentor, because since we went (proper) cold turkey last Sat it hasn't been hard at all. I actually think he might have taken bottles then anyway, because we'd cracked the pain association with the food by then....but who knows?! You may just have to get tough: DS hung on for a BF throughout last Sat morning, only taking 2oz from DH. He was then refusing the bottle from DH again at lunchtime, but when I took over he drained a whole 7oz. It was the same with him as it had been for DD - initially he'd only take a bottle from me, I guess the being used to me feeding him overrode the smelling the milk on me IYSWIM. Since that first morning of him holding out, he's taken (and drained) every bottle offered, and has now taken them from DH, my Mum and my FIL too. I only BF'd first thing Sun, Mon and Tues for my comfort and since Weds he's been fully on the formula. So this may not be much help to you, but perhaps going fully cold turkey and you offering bottles as well as DH may be the thing that cracks it? Another thing to potentially try is what we had to do with the food - give nurofen 30mins prior to bottle/food so that there's no pain when they try them and they realise that it is something rather nice instead of something designed to inflict pain.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the cheese and spinach muffins. I made a batch today and they were well received all round Smile

aethelfleda · 07/07/2012 19:42

Mopsy, ring whenever you want: minimopsy is little and if her temp doesnt go down or you think she may have anything other than aimor cold them they will be very happy to speak to you.

Cheers kate, I am now cuddling a sleeping DS; fed him at 7pm and he's conked. I will allow myself one night feed and return, and one early morning feed, then try to go through to the evening with bottles. Even if he gets Bfed four times a day (morning, after lunch, evevning, overnight) that's still a big reduction on the 8-12 times a day I was feeding him before, and I hope he'll start taking more of the bottle
Volumes, and then I will drop the feeds one at a time. If this doesnt work I will go back to genuine cold turkey, he can't get ill to order again!!

Right, attempt to get DDs to shush, DS to bed, and then get sewing. Fancy dress costume for DH!

Figgygal · 07/07/2012 19:46

Dh has gone out to the 40th birthday party on his own as we couldn't get a babysitter so I shall find myself and my one bottle of a Rasberry cider having a just danceathon (I can't face the shred DVD but its better exercise than sitting on my arse all night)

DS keeps eating his teething gel the minute I put my finger in his mouth to administer it he Clamps his gums on it and just sucks at it, not sure of how much of it is actually doing any good and reaching the sore bits. Silly man.

Poor mini mopsy Sad hope she fed better soon.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/07/2012 20:03

Poor little mini-m: have the bite marks round her nose at least faded? At least she's taking food and fluids, so that's good. Definitely ring the doc's if you're at all unsettled mopsy.

And glad the brown blood's stopped seven, it's unnerving though isn't it? Hope the poas gives a more definite result in the next day or two.

Just ordered curry, mmmmmmmmm.....

OP posts:
aethelfleda · 07/07/2012 20:30

Yum, curry. . I can't wait to be non-lactating, I could eat a bloody horse when I breastfeed as my size 18-20 clothes will testify

I have been splitting bottle-duty with DH in the daytime but given last weekend's overnight fiasco I'll be doing any overnight requirements this time (one feed allowed and then he's getting a bottle of water. Sorry, DS)

I'm hoping that with each day as he gets more bottles and longer between breastfeeds He'll actually start taking bigger amounts . I am also giving sippy cups of water with his meals, and he's coped Ok with only BFs at morning, luinchtime and night today.

Arg, think I've already posted this stuff. Someone conk me on the head.

jigglebum · 07/07/2012 20:46

Well the weather is so awful I couldnt be bothered to go out but have had a lovely big bath with a trashy mag, followed by home made pizza, jacket potato , salad, a large glass of red and a cracking game of doubles on the telly, with a suitably sticky creme brulee for pud; noone to worry about apart from me, so I am one happy lady! Simple pleasures ! I always tell my DH I am not hard to please really!

jigglebum · 07/07/2012 21:16

Wow that was a tennis match worth staying in for! Doubles is so much better than singles to watch.

seven77 · 07/07/2012 21:19

What rain? They're having a barbecue across the road!

mopsy hope minim is feeling better soon, and that her temp has started dropping. Ring them if her temp doesn't drop or if you're at all worried.

figgy Anbesol is better as its a liquid so the little beggars can't eat it!

LittleMissFlustered · 07/07/2012 21:32

Is anbesol available again?! There was a dearth of the stuff last I looked:(

Figgygal · 08/07/2012 07:12

Morning all

Has anyone heard of teething giving a baby a cough? He's had 1 for about 6 weeks worst in morning/evening but it's started waking him. Last night he woke me coughing over the monitor then he woke, he was trying to go back to sleep but kept coughing so got him some calpol and then milk (after he'd drank 2oz wAter) and he went back down. I took him to dr about a month ago after he'd had it 3 weeks and she said it was nothing but to still have it Hmm. The cm suggested it could be teeth but I'm thinking he needs back to dr at this rate Sad

Well he woke at 5.30 I kept going on stroking his tummy he'd go back to sleep and I'd literally get in our bed and he'd start up again eventually I gave up, went down for his breakfast bottle and had a lie down on his flood next to his cot while he stirred next thing I know it's an hour later and I'm drooling into the carpet Grin. He's now had said bottle and is reading/chewing a book while I need spinal realignment

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/07/2012 07:47

Mopsy Hope MiniM gets better soon.

Figgy I'd get back to docs tbh as that doesn't sound right.

Day indoors today - tennis final & F1 is on, so a good day of sport for us!

seven77 · 08/07/2012 09:37

My chemist had Anbesol a couple of weeks ago when I was in there. I forgot about that though, so I don't know whether they should be selling it or not if that makes sense.

figgy I agree I'd take him back to the dr to check he doesn't have a chest infection tbh.

I'm bleeding and my belly hurts :( a broken toe and a possible miscarriage, can this week get much worse? I refuse to do anything today, it will consist of kids DVDs, tennis, F1, hot chocolate and biscuits.

seven77 · 08/07/2012 09:39

LMF how is the octopus now?

mopsy I hope she managed some sleep last night and is a bit more herself today.

Kitty5824 · 08/07/2012 10:05

Sad seven that sucks.

I had a brill night out with the girls last night, drank far too much, pretty much doubled the average age in every bar we went into after the meal (teenage girls with loooong legs everywhere!)

Drank far, far too much. DH did his first ever "through the night duty" and my boobs are huge. Do I pump and dump? I'm sure I'd still be over the limit right now - I just tried to read an article on alcohol consumption and breastmilk and I think that has kickstarted the hangover!!!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/07/2012 12:36

Seven That's pants. Hopefully it's nothing bad Sad

For some reason I feel shattered Sad Sly slept all night so maybe that's the reason?!

Rain is literally pouring out of the sky. Picking Darcie up from her sleepover at 1:30 and then hibernating for rest of day in pjs and in front of tennis!

mopsytop · 08/07/2012 12:57

V little sleep last night ad to be expected. Minim came in with us. Still v warm but took 2 feeds (most of, anyway) and some purée. Wondering if it cd be start of chickenpox? Her little friend had it 2 weeks ago and they were in car together for over an hr. But that was wed fortnight ago, so 17 days before minim got a temp-can the incubation period be that long? Also no sign of any spots yet but apparently the fever can start a day or two before...? Can't thinkbwhat else it cd be.

aethelfleda · 08/07/2012 14:06

Aha mopsy: chickenpox incubation is 14-21 days! And yes you're right they usually have 1-3 days of fever and cough/cold symptoms before the rash comes out. So keep away from pregnant mummies or any friends with ropy immune systems for a day or two (and maybe hold off the toddler/baby groups): if it is pox you'll know fairly soon. If it's not that then "just"-a-virus is the most likely. Poor minim!

Oh, poor you seven ((hug)) it may be an implantation bleed, but retest again in a few days and see if the possible line has disappeared or is more definite. There are many "nearly-pregnancies" nowadays which are wherethe egg fertilised but does not implant and you have a heavy (late) period: these never used to be picked up but in today's super early tests you can notice them: in some ways it's sad for mums TTC as they feel mentally that they have miscarried and it's v upsetting to think of that happening especially if it happens repeatedly. Either way I hope you know for certain soon, maybe this week should be consigned to a box...

Am being subjected to F1 but will finish DHs costume so that's productive at least. Operation de-boob continues slowly: he was v good overnight:just one BF at 4am then a wakeup feed at 7, he grumped through a 2oz bottle at 9.30 and then fed from me at 12.30. I am trying him With a cup and straw type with water in at mealtimes, he doesnt have to lift that (as if he takes a bit of water wiith meals this will stop him being too thirsty.) have bought a new type of Avent teat to try, also tried nipple shields which was a complete fiasco as he just pulled. Face, chewed them, sucked them off my bosom, spat them out and then relatched!!! DS one, Nipple shields nil!!!!!

mopsytop · 08/07/2012 16:10

Thanks aethel.

That's shite seven :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/07/2012 18:00

Darcie has been home for just a few hrs apart from when she had a nap all she's done is thrown her temper around Sad
