Woweee Hawthers - awesome job Grin

So your sky box hasn't changed all the graphics? Have you got sky HD?

OP posts:
neverenoughsleeportea · 20/06/2012 17:40

No seems to be the same but we don't have hd.

hawthers · 20/06/2012 17:59

Hmm sorry that was me with a random old nn for some reason

Biscuitsandtea · 20/06/2012 18:02

Well I have ds2 fast asleep in the pushchair (has been for about 2 hours) and ds1 upstairs playing with the most amazing train track we've just built. And I've managed to cook ds1's tea. It's almost as if I know what I'm doing here Hmm.

Although I felt like a terrible mother earlier. Had to take ds1 to the optician and the one in our village is really tight to get in to - awkward door, stairway inconveniently placed etc. I figured I would never get the bugaboo in so I've had ds2 in the Petit Zia thing laid flat (I caved and bought one on eBay after my ramblings the other week). It does lay (almost) flat and is sold as suitable from birth but I had to have him facing away Sad. T'was horrible not looking at him Sad. And I kept thinking that everyone would think I was a bad mummy for having him facing away. He was awake in there for probs 20 mins or less. Then conked out and has been ever since (I've left him in there since we got home - is that ok?).

The problem is I've given up with the wrap sling (I can't get it right so we end up all unsafe and loose feeling and I feel like it squashes the enormo-boobs when he's in there which panics me from a blocked duct point of view and can't be as comfy for DS). So that left me the bugaboo (too big) or the car seat on the Zapp wheels (didn't want unnecessary time in the car seat). Still feel bad about it.

Slightly mollified that I've built a wicked train track but that's kinda making it up to the wrong child Confused

Nope too, didn't check my wound or physically examine me at all. Good job I was already in the system for my big split of tummy muscles. Plus he ran through what he'd checked for the boys out loud and asked me if he'd missed anything?!?! I said he hadn't checked if their testicles were descended but I knew they were (though he did then check anyway) but I didn't know- its my dh who's medical, not me!!! Rubbish gp. Nice guy though, a Nepali so we had a chat about trekking in Nepal instead Hmm

I'm sure you're right biscuits, about taking for granted what they do and focussing in on what they don't. Your ds is very good with his alphabet and phonics Shock . Wow. Also no Sky here, just freeview.

Glad you're feeling better Jen, mine are feeding like mad today too, may as well not

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:07

bother putting them away...

Sorry, hit post.

Anyway, two babies screaming. Layers brookers

*oh, and disasterous start to the healthy eating for me... Don't even dare confess to the full extent of my gluttony. Will try harder tomorrow

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/06/2012 18:10

Fuck fuck fuck, I went out to finish mowing the lawn (is two thirds done) and mowed over the sodding cable. Blush I hated that lawnmower anyway because it was a Flymo and doesn't mow very well so you have to keep going back over the same bit, but now we have no lawnmower and a third of the lawn is still a hayfield. DH is not going to be pleased. I've had a quick look on Gumtree but it's full of people demanding £100 for their old lawnmowers and you could buy a new one for that. Aaaaaargh!

Was going to post properly but M is objecting to lying in her gym thing - back in a mo!

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:15

biscuits, missed your post, don't say that . Both buggies for the boys are not parent facing, the baby jogger city mini double isn't parent facing as i didn't spend loads on carry cots and the monster buggy has no parent facing option at all no matter what you spent. Both almost flat 'suitable from birth' too and they're in a lot :( :( . Now I feel bad too for not really thinking too much about it (was more checking it'd go through a standard doorway etc for both-which they do)

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:19

too, cheaper than mine. I took 2 panels of the car, the wheel arch and door handle out on my birthday on Friday :( on our own new gate, now that had me thinking oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck about telling dh....

Also, like biscuits, I've never given the boys a toy, just had to check today, they can't grasp a toy Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 20/06/2012 18:19

I'm an idiot Dream - take no notice of me. Anyway - your boys have each other to look at so they're not on their own. I'm just used to looking at DS in the pram.

It would be fair to say your travel options are limited anyway! And going through a doorway is probably quite a useful feature for a buggy - I would certainly pick that over parent facing if it was a toss up between the two.

By the way your monster buggy looks awesome but how the heck do you move it? It must be heavy / you must the have biceps of I-don't-know-who.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 20/06/2012 18:21

I might check ds2 with a toy when he wakes up.... Although he's still sound asleep - give this Zia it's due it must be comfy!

And I'm very reassured that this 'almost flat' actually counts from birth (if it's good enough for dream it's good enough for me!). It's my one bugbear about the bugaboo pushchair setting.

OP posts:
DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:38

In terms of parent facing twin buggies there's the baby jogger city select-£850 ish I think plus its a tandem and i wanted side by side, or the First Wheels twin, too wide for many doorways. or bugaboo donkey, ridiculous £££££, Or car seats on mine, I could buy adapters for that but don't want them in car seats much. Limited choices. Mine can't see each other though biscuits, not til they're not laid flat at least as its kind of.a pouch that you loosen to lie them down and tighten to sit them up. Poor babies, pretty lonely really I suppose...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/06/2012 18:39

I had M in a forward-facing almost-flat buggy last weekend and it never even occurred to me that she ought to be rear-facing, Dream.

Oh no about the car! What a thing to happen on your birthday, as well. Was it your monster truck people-carrier thingy? What did your DH say about it?

Angry at your GP too. Nice or not, he's supposed to look after you as well as the boys! In fact, my 6 week appt was all about me, M's appt came a few weeks later, and the doc there asked how I was doing and if there was anything I wanted to ask for myself.

Yay Hawthers! Go F! That's brilliant.

Biscuits, I like the sound of your train track.

I only started trying M with pens, sticks ad other unsafe items toys after reading the email.

Oh, DH is back!

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:40

And yes, monster buggy has big wheels so no problem on the flat, pushes fine, easy, but sooo heavy uphill and hard to control on steep downhills, like to the park...

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:44

Dh chose 4:30am this morning to say how awful the pump mobile people carrier looks and he might get a quote for fixing. I nearly told him he'd need a quote to fix his face in a minute but instead had another little cry (I'm very very tired, plus gutted I mashed the car pulling onto the sodding drive, I think as I was tired, its a tight angle but I'm used to it now) and told him it wasn't a good.time to discuss it....

DreamingOfPeace · 20/06/2012 18:45

*pimp mobile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/06/2012 19:27

Just popping in briefly to say:

Biscuits I have Sky HD and nothing has changed. What is different about yours?

I'm another one whose GP checked nothing physically at my postnatal check. He asked about my recovery but didn't check my scar, or my split tummy muscles. Nice enough old guy, but I was surprised at how brief/basic the check was.

Back later...

jaggythistle · 20/06/2012 19:31

we might have got a new pram too.. PIL offered a new one as DH hated the one that we had for DS1. we were going to struggle on but realised it was too bulky to take on holiday and i didn't want my PSB in a rickety cheap stroller.

will link to what we've got if i can...

accidentally let DS1 nap till 5 o'clock Blush, not sure when bedtime will be... DH is in now so i have taken DS2 off for a quiet feed to chill him out. we had a bit less crying yesterday evening, maybe the madness is calming down?

oops, too busy on here to notice that R had milk coming out his nose due to angle of feeding. Blush I could admit to being bad or pretend it was on purpose to clear the stubborn snot that seems to be bugging him.

DS1 a bit better again today, apart from running a away from me in the sports centre while i was carrying the car seat. i believe i looked like a psycho as i hauled him onto a couch at reception by his t-shirt and had words about his new running away hobby. Blush

jaggythistle · 20/06/2012 19:34

*we already have a rickety stroller that DH wanted to use. it does go flat, but would be like a board.

nurse didn't examine me at post natal check either, just questions and weighing.

jaggythistle · 20/06/2012 19:50

got this pram yesterday, not even had it out a walk yet!!

Looks cool though

Biscuitsandtea · 20/06/2012 20:10

Nice wheels Jaggy - hope R likes them.

Scream - it's all slightly different colours and looks a bit jazzed up / more modern. I think some of the menu options are different too.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 20/06/2012 20:12

What did you have before Jaggy?

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 20/06/2012 20:20

mothercare mychoice4. not horrendous but a few niggles like tyres that burst a lot...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/06/2012 20:22

I'm so hungry, I'm so hungry...Dinner is cooking but it's taking too long! Haven't Shredded yet - DH said dinner would only take 20 mins and that was an hour ago. Hmm

Like the buggy, Jaggy! What colour did you get?

Ooooh, 4.30am is NOT the time to express anything that can remotely be construed as criticism! I would have shrieked incoherently and then cried.

DH was not impressed with the lawnmower incident. I think you can splice electrical cables though, can't you? Maybe it's fixable.

jaggythistle · 20/06/2012 20:30

black with the black frame. i wanted red but DH won! DS1 fits in it really well too, the idea being that we can carry a sling for DS2 in case DS1 is tired.
