New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/06/2012 22:12

Today, S has had 3x scoops (the ones from formula) of readybrek with cows milk for breakfast, a bit of breadstick about 11ish, a pancake with raisins for lunch, some oaty bar (Ella's kitchen) and grapes about 4pm then for dinner a fish finger, soup spoon of beans and a one of sweet potato mash followed by some blueberries, few strawberries and a mini yog. She does like a big dinner Grin. I don't mash/purée anything anymore. She is doing really well with chewing and getting good with pincer grip to pick up the little crumbs!! That's along with 3x 7oz btls a day. Does just go to show how every baby is different

Scheherezade · 29/06/2012 22:14

Sounds good to me, mum knows best and all. I've decided there's too much guilt in this whole thing, just going to try follow my instinct and what works best for the two of us.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/06/2012 22:17

That's exactly it sch. Do what's best and works for you Smile

Scheherezade · 29/06/2012 22:25

C eats a lot less than S and J, food and bottles, but he's one of the biggest babies (was 21lbs last week) and gone from 50%-91% so am not going to worry!

LittlePebble · 30/06/2012 06:17

Thanks for well wishes they worked! Got five hrs for the first time in two weeks Smile Hopefully this means we've turned a corner.

Its nice to know E doesn't really eat much differently to the rest and he's a whopper (or was some of his chunky thighs have gone as he's not been eating) but when last weighed he was 24lbs and he eats:

Readybrek with cows milk and fruit for breakfast
7oz bottle
3 large ice cubes of protein/ veg and petit filous
Or
Pita with cream cheese, ham, salad
Petit filous
7oz bottle
4 cubes dinner protein/ veg/ pasta
Petit filous / fruit
7 oz bottle

He doesn't always finish his food or bottles just depends on the day. He also has water and occasional fruit or biscotti sometimes. I mix BLW and purees but he also just likes to have what I'm having so often steals half my sandwich Wink

lookout · 30/06/2012 07:05

LP very pleased to hear about your sleep! I think 5 is the magic number of hours sleep when the day ahead seems manageable.

For some reason E woke at 3.45, fed and the decided he didn't need to go back to sleep Angry had him in bed with me (dh in spare room for last month) but he was rolling around and chattering away and banging me in the face mostly. He's gone for a nap and I'm about to follow. I'm really frustrated though because his sleep was getting so much better (waking for a feed once usually around 4am but getting closer to 6 some mornings!) and for the last 3 weeks he's been waking 3-4 times a night Confused anyone shed any light?

Thanks for the food replies too, seems we're not that far from each other in terms of food quantities, I feel reassured. Except that E still not that interested in food but I'm trying not to stress about it

MamaMaiasaura · 30/06/2012 08:40

lookout J sleep messed up past 3 nights. Think it's the heat, teething and she's a bit snotty too.

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 09:07

scheh no not evelyn and not evie either! Smile

its eva. pronounced eve -a.

i think eva eats closer to emmazed lo.

1x9oz for breakfast plus 1 weetabix.

2x8oz. and 1x5oz occasionally.

lunch and dinner fill the bowl about the same as a ellas pouch for 7month baby, which im sure is more than 3 veg cubes.

i am sadly lacking in the fruit dept. really need to sort that.

was lovely to meet 2 of you gorgeous ladies yesterday. hopefully we can arrange a bigger meet eventually.

and i can confirm that cyrus is perfectly porportioned with thee most gorgeous chubby cheeks, and not a thug at all! he only had a little whinge a couple of times.

jacob had a massive tantrum when we got in, as he had slept in the car and did not wake up in a good mood at all. least he saved it for behind closed doors. Wink

Scheherezade · 30/06/2012 09:38

Ahh sorry sass getting confused with friends sisters baby!!

emmazed · 30/06/2012 09:41

I have no idea how much to feed him, I just do what feels right. He always finishes what I give him, so can't go by that! He doesn't always finish his milk, I am just saying what I give. He MUCH prefers food to milk which has never been that good

I suppose like us they are hungrier some days than others, and sleepier some days. J sleeps through but the time he wakes varies by 2 hours, and I can't work out a pattern.

We are planning to move him out of our room today. V excited but a bit sad too

Finally my confession: I have to admit we have a cleaner. so everything gets cleaned by her. I would be rubbish otherwise, things would never get done. It was part of the agreement when dh and I moved on together way back when. He is so messy as well, and I knew we would just argue about it.

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 09:54

no worries scheh

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 09:58

emmazed sat here now thinking i might get one and not tell anyone in rl
how many hours does she come and what does she do? if you dont mind me asking?

problem i have is that mil cleans for people and i think she would be a bit peeved if i got someone else, but i know she will nosey through our stuff and so does dp.

Scheherezade · 30/06/2012 09:59

I've only been reading about her every day for 9 months Blush

Oh well, off to try flog stuff at the second hand baby shop.

ClimbingPenguin · 30/06/2012 10:01

Ds won't let us get a spoon no where near him so we are fully blw by default. So I have a spoon and a bottle refuser but he has started drinking and sucking from his free flow cup at last. Our routine is

6 get up, quick bf
6:30 porridge and fruit
8 bf and sleep
10:00 biscuit or other snack
12:00 bf and sleep
2:00 lunch, normally a rice cake split into four with spoon ful of hummus, peanut butter and almond butter
5:00 dinner, what ever we are having with some fruit for dessert. Sometime this is split so dinner is at 4:30 and fruit at 5:30
6:30 bf and bed

ClimbingPenguin · 30/06/2012 10:04

Night sleep is still about two to three hours which isn't so bad.

emmazed · 30/06/2012 10:40

sassy she does 3 hours a week for £21. She cleans both bathrooms and kitchen (floor, surfaces, appliances, etc), hoovers, dusts, changes our bed, dusts the blinds (the are wooden so get dusty!), plus sometimes does other bits like cleans the fridge, a window here and there. I love her, she is a great person, just loves playing with Joseph, she was fab when I was crying lots after he was born. When we get a life and start going out, I think she will also be our babysitter.

I know it is a luxuary, but for us totally worth it. Sassy, I think bearing in mind what you are going through at the moment it would really help. So good to know that whatever happens the house will be clean and (quite) tidy.

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 11:25

umph made the mistake of telling dp and he thinks if i want one, we would have to ask his mum. although he did say its up to me.

thinking the guilt would get to me and like dp says if she happened to drop by at the point of cleaner being here........

i'll have a think.

yours does sound wonderful emmazed I WANT ONE!

emmazed · 30/06/2012 12:51

sassy does she need the extra work? Difficult if she does. If not, could you not say you don't want to employ her, muddles the relationship if something goes wrong, and would she be happy to be paid by you? Then no secret so you don't need to feel bad if she pops over.

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 13:19

dont think being paid by us would bother her, she has quite a brass neck! i cant go into shops with her as she embarrasses the hell out of me, asking for discounts and deals. she just laughs at me and says she doesnt get why i dont do it.

im the sort of person who cant watch x factor auditions cos i just die cringing for them.

but from my pov, i feel odd giving her money and having her clean for us. but dp and mil wont see that. they think im quite the little princess sometimes i think. i just think im normal and they can be a bit rough bold.

sat outside tesco at the min as the twins have fell asleep in the car. was supposed to be going for a walk around town centre next, but its bouncing off the car with thunder and lightening as well.

really only need some euros for dp to take to germany tomorrow, so we,ve decided that i'll drive around while dp just nips quickly and then we will go home.

umph, i was looking forward to shopping!!!!!

and my pigging washing is out- it was sun shining 20mins ago, ive even swapped all 3 babbies long sleeved tops for t-shirts before we left cos dp got back from wrestling to say it was warm outside. fecking typical. Hmm

lookout · 30/06/2012 14:39

I've given up putting washing outside, you never know when it's gonna rain atm and it's just quicker to bung it in the dryer.

I would love a cleaner too. We are extended house sitting for my folks who retired to France a few years ago and they're house is too bloody big for the four of us and a pig to keep clean and tidy. My mum ALWAYS had a cleaner when she lived here but we can't afford one so I do my best but always feel like I'm chasing my tail.

Mama not just us then. Hope your sleep gets better soon too.

I am in such a bad mood today. I am shit when I don't get enough sleep Sad CP how do you manage to be upbeat and deal with everything on little sleep for such a long time?? If you have a magic trick I'd like to know. Now! Also wanted to ask you, how do you ensure proper calcium intake at your house? E is off his milk which is stressing me out (I hope it's teeth/snotty nose cos if it's early self-weaning I'll cry) and I can't think for the life of me how to get calcium in him while he's still dairy-allergic. He won't eat spinach, has a bit of broccoli but not a lot and refuses to eat cereal with milk alternative so I'm panicking.

Scheherezade · 30/06/2012 15:28

lo I know you can get calcium chews/tablets for adults, do they not do anything similar for babies?

I think 4days is my limit of staying with MIL, SIL is driving me mad!! DP hone tomorrow eve, can't wait.

Took C swimming (finally) today. He absolutely loved it, laughing loads and didn't care about drinking the water. But tbf he rolls around in the bath, I just lay him on his back and he rolls over and splashes everywhere, so he was already used to it.

Scheherezade · 30/06/2012 15:36

lo have you tried hiding the spinach in other food? I put spinach in an omlette with loads of cheese for C. Just whisk all 3 ingredients, stick in microwave for 90secs. Oh, but he can't have cheese-just anything to disguise the flavour.

lookout · 30/06/2012 18:25

Sche can't have eggs either Sad I'm finding it pretty tough to find things to disguise it with really. Pretty sure thje strong taste of spinach is gonna be pretty hard disguise without eggs, cheese, cream etc... Maybe a white sauce with his milk... Not sure about calcium drops for babies, have seen vitamins but not calcium, may look into it. Glad C loved the swimming. You've spurred me into taking E out of his seat and trying him lying down in the bath, sounds like fun!

sassy34264 · 30/06/2012 19:15

look eva has just had haddock fillet with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and sweetcorn, all mulched in the magic bullet with a bit of formula. could try a big variety like that to hide the flavour. or how about salmon? ( which is prob a stronger taste)

i know its a bit of an older food, but you could even try a couple of spoonfuls of baked beans (reduced salt variety if your worried) with a jacket potato and formula and spinach. ???

or tins of tomatoes that have herbs added with chicken, peppers, courgettes, onions etc and throw in some spinach.

sorry if its not helpful.

emmazed · 30/06/2012 19:17

Can't remember who asked, but the pasta I use is soup vermicelli. it is really thin so easy to swallow. I either cut it after boiling, or I have found cut vermicelli in the supermarket which is great. It was with all the polish stuff. Each strand is about an inch long

No idea what to suggest for hidden calcium, maybe look on a vegan website, there must be one with baby info and they may have suggestions? Good luck with it lookout
