dsm yay, that's fantastic! We had a good night here too:DS settled
Late for him (9pm and very chewy!) but slept til almost 4, some kind of record! He then fed in bed and dozed til 6.30. Looks like stuffing him with banana is the way foward...

mopsytop · 19/06/2012 07:46

I'd love a sheet like that hawthers. morning all! We are now properly on the mend yay! And got blackout blinds yesterday-she woke at 5 as usual but instead of staying awake she talked for twenty minutes, then went back to sleep until after 7. Yay!

CherryBlossom27 · 19/06/2012 09:28

Morning everyone! I did a mammoth post yesterday but managed to lose it!

Weaning is still going well, I've kept a list and DS has had:

Carrot
Parsnip
Sweet Potato
Banana
Apple
Pear
Mango
Swede
Avocado
Melon
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Baby rice
Baby porridge
Yoghurt

I've just made up some spinach purée, and on my "to try" list are normal potatoes, peas, leek, courgette, butternut squash, papaya, apricot, plum, nectarine, peach, blueberries, strawberries. Left the "green" vegetables until last as they have a stronger flavour, I think I'll mix them up with potato if DS doesn't like them on their own. The soft fruits I'm going to get from the market as the supermarket ones are always hard and never seem ready to eat.

DH is going to make DS some congee (rice porridge) at the weekend with some fish...yum yum! I think now I've been through almost every fruit and vegetable I can think of it's time to start trying out meat, fish, pasta and rice :)

We are moving DS into his own room at the weekend as he will be 6 months old. I'm going to miss him! I think he will sleep better in his own room as we won't wake him up, and it has a black out blind. I think it's probably better to get him in his own room now before I back out of the idea, and also before he knows any different, he might not take to it at a later date?! We will have more space without the cot which is another plus point.

MissRee · 19/06/2012 12:11

We definitely need to start putting Freya in the big bath! My kitchen looks like tsunami hit following this morning's fun and games in the baby bath!!! I bought a bath seat for her but she's going to look lost in that big old tub Grin

Hope everyone and their DC's are feeling better today!

We've upped freya's food intake so she's on 2 meals a day. Porridge for breakfast, fruity purée for lunch and 5 bottles throughout the day. Next week I'll introduce a dinner and then the week after I'll be switching her to follow-on milk, 4x8oz bottles a day and then we've got a week to adjust before I go back to work Sad

I'm officially on holiday now, not maternity leave let's hope this month's wage packet reflects that nicely

seven77 · 19/06/2012 17:39

Feeling ok aethel?

missree I hope being on holiday puts less financial strain on you. How is DP's back now? Eva has been in the big bath for a couple of months and I actually find it easier and a lot quicker than faffing getting everything ready for the baby bath.

Brilliant to hear about so many babies sleeping better. Eva still religiously wakes at 5-5.30 but goes down at 7pm so I know I shouldn't complain.

We had a lovely day going to the park, the library and feeding the ducks, though Eva screamed all the way down the high street! She was fine yesterday when I had her on normal formula but has been extra grumpy and clingy today so we're going back to lactose-free for now. Now trying to get all of my evening jobs done early, beer, pizza and football for tea when the DC's have gone to bed.

scoobyd00 · 19/06/2012 18:36

He's home! :)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/06/2012 18:39

Scooby Enjoy DH being home Grin

KateM77 · 19/06/2012 19:03

for Scooby and MrScooby. That's fantastic news Grin

Had a grumpy DS today. He's really suffering with his cold, and tooth number 2 emerged today too. He had a full 7oz bottle this morning, but completely refused the second one this afternoon. I'll offer two again tomorrow and see what happens. He screamed the place down after bath and during stories, I put him on the playmat while I took DD up to bed and he's now gone spark out when I was just about to tank him up for the night! Not sure whether to wake him or not now Confused

Random question of the day: I've made a cherry clafoutis because we bought a load of cherries at the weekend (2kg for £5 - bargain!). The recipe says to put some brandy in. I don't have any but do have whisky, rum, vodka and a random miniature of Cointreau. Do you think I should use any of those or just do it booze-free?

It's been a day of poorly children here. DS with his cold, and I heard that 9yo DNiece is in hospital with something as yet unknown that's been making her sick for weeks. Then got a text from a friend to say they'd been to A&E with 4month old DS3 after his wife fell over with LO in the sling. Poor little mite has a tiny skull fracture. All OK now, but very scary for them.

MissRee · 19/06/2012 19:39

Yay for Scooby and her DP Grin

We have a referral to see a paediatrician for Freya's tongue tie! We have to go to our local hospital to get a referral on to Kings for the actual snip though Hmm GP said that as her tie is so thick, she will need a general anaesthetic though Sad

MissRee · 19/06/2012 19:40

Oh and DP is on the mend, thanks, Seven He will be going back to work on Monday and I can't wait to get him out of my hair

aethelfleda · 19/06/2012 20:05

yaaaaay for sc00by and Mrsc00by!

i'm OK thanks seven, have had a Daisy-the-cow day hence my earlier post.

Good luck with the paeds referral misree, when I looked into it for DS, the info said that all babies older than 4-5 months who have tongue tie treated have it under anaesthetic whether it's thick or thin, as they are more mobile and aware and would go totally ape if trussed up in a towel and held still. It's clearly an ongoing isuie for you both so I hope they take it seriously and listen to you.

Kate, no idea what a caflootis thing is, but cherry and orange sounds nice so I'd whack in the Cointreau. Whiskey/vodka might taste too harsh.

Lovely evening over this way, must be good and not stay up late knitting and watching game of thrones.....nnnnnnmgggg....

MissRee · 19/06/2012 20:24

Thanks Aethel, I read some info that said 8 months but I can understand that it would be younger as the GP even had trouble getting her to open her mouth she just wanted to bite the wooden thing

We're still on newborn tears as the bigger ones just overwhelm her and she gets stressed at the faster flow. We're also concerned about potential speech problems. I just hope we don't get the whole "she's not breastfed so there's not an issue" spiel that we got from the first HV I spoke to Sad

LittleMissFlustered · 19/06/2012 20:39

Ctoboy has decided his new favourite toy is his spacer. He loves to chew the mask part. It appears to offer the perfect squeak:resistance ratio. Weird boy...

Hope everyone is having a good day. Been a long one, so heading to bed now. Going to make my boy scream by making appropriate use of his spacer >_< :o

Yay glad he home safe Scooby :)

KateM77 · 19/06/2012 21:13

I don't think I'll be rushing to make clafoutis again, although the cointreau added a certain something aethel !

seven77 · 19/06/2012 21:16

Brilliant news scooby!

kate probably too late now but I'd have gone for rum. I hope they're all better too soon, and your friend isn't blaming herself.

NorthernChinchilla · 19/06/2012 22:09

Oh Scooby, that's great- I'm sure we won't see you for a little while and I hope you and the family have a lovely time catching up!

It's been a right old up and down time here.

May I have a for:

  • The house has been painted: I have waited over 5 years and it's great
  • I investigated further and the colleague hadn't stabbed me in the back it would be bloody useful if the Chief Exec copied me into e-mails, but never mind and I'm grateful I left it a day to consider. Cheers Rashka and Tyel - it may well be that at the end of the year I start looking for a new job back up North.
  • England won
  • Bought DS some toys from Mothercare and he got quite over-excited by them

May I have a for

  • The other work issue is still grim.
  • DP has had D&V for the past couple of days, and his spectacular vomming woke me up in the middle of the night
  • The house is a complete tip, as although DP is ill, he's not that ill, but in his mind he couldn't possibly empty a dishwasher Hmm

Glad you're on the mend mopsy, you're sounding better!

Sorry to hear that Freya has to go through that MissRee, that'll be a wee bit grim for you. But glad to hear your DP is on the mend, I really hope his back doesn't go again, it sounds painful.

We're in the same boat seven, although DS has gone through til 6 the past couple of mornings, so we're crossing fingers big time. I know we can't complain, but 5-something am is not right....

Loving squeak:resistance ratio LMF Grin.

Right, early night now- hope the good sleeping continues!

OiMissus · 19/06/2012 22:28

Hurrah for engerland!
northern one of my lot attempted to stab me in the back. Luckily for her, she left before my return. Since I've been back, I am fixing the things the team has broken, and found a couple of spectacular mistakes. "when the cat's away,..." well the cat is back! I hope that your contemporaries, seniors and juniors are noticing and valuing your return. I hope the change of decision comes back and bites her for being incorrect.
Glad you're all better mopsy.
Hip hip hooray mrscooby is back!! Enjoy! I'm so happy and relieved for you. Grin
Good luck with the tongue tie missree. BOi loves the bath. He wants to be on his front now, and he kicks his arms and legs wildly - I really must get him back in a swimming pool.
seven I'm very jealous of LO going down at 7. BOi doesn't. Tonight it was after 9 and he fought it all the way.Sad
kate deepest sympathy for the mum of the LO with the fractured skull. She must feel dreadful.
I had a crappy day today. But that's ok because tomorrow we're going on holiday! Not sure where the cottage is, but it has a TA postcode. Smile It's lovely and sunny here, and nasty down there, apparently.
I haven't packed our case/car yet, but the kitchen is completely boxed up ready for the impending house move. Grin
Bumped into an old friend on Sunday, she has a 1yo. He hates being on his tummy and makes no effort to move - not crawling or walking. She didn't seem too bothered. I'd be worrying I think. But I know it's normal. That's just kids...
I need to get into some kind of routine for feeding BOi, and giving his carers food to try with him. Some days he has foods/fruits to try, some days he just has his milk. The holiday is the right opportunity!
That's it! I'm on my hols! Second glass of wine? Don't mind if I do! X

OiMissus · 19/06/2012 23:43

Can I also recommend "Tiddlyprints"? They're the girls in Wales who do the hand/footprint silver jewellery.
I left it way too late, but they pulled out all the stops to get Ali's prints into silver in time for father's day. They emailed every day, including kisses(!), to help to get it here in time. Even to the point when it was ready, of informing me that they send "signed for" - so which address would be best? Perfect service, and gorgeous little keyring. Happy daddy. Fabulous service, happy mummy! X
