Sorry about the chinchilla northern it really is sad when a pet dies when skunky goes we will be in bits!! Figgyboy was magic on the plane again 6 flights he's been on now and has been charming and not emitted a sound the whole time.

I'm back to work I'm 3 weeks and also think I'll start dropping off the thread mainly because my bosses are parent hating knobs who will have their eyes on me to make sure I'm not shirking because clearly having a baby renders you an unprofessional nitwit!!

I had forceps, episiotomy etc and again recommend the painkillers, I was really lucky with mine I was off them after 5 days however I wish I'd had mine checked more as I'm sure it hasn't healed right. Scar tissue seems to be an issue as relations with dh can still be painful 5 months on I really need to go see dr but reluctant for a return to the indignity of the legs akimbo position Grin.

Right off to bed night all!!

seven77 · 02/06/2012 23:01

I'm so sorry northern :(

aethelfleda · 03/06/2012 02:37

RIP chinchilla. ((((hug))) for northern

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/06/2012 08:13

Sky was awake at 11:30 & 4am feel shattered.
Had a lovely day yesterday. We are off the the in-laws for lunch today which will be good Grin

Shame about the bloody rain we have now got Sad oh well...

LittleMissFlustered · 03/06/2012 08:19

Hope you're all ok Northern :(

Rough few nights, I think Octoboy is growing. How very dare he!

Late night last night, took my girlspawn to the theatre to watch one of her heroes do a talk:

Off to make a big coffee before I even attempt to get the kids ready and out to the party.

Oh Northen, :( I'm sorry you lost chin.

DS went 11 hours(!) between feeds last night (and was asleep for 9 of them), of course I made the most of it & ended up in bed for all of 20mins before he woke up at 0230. Hmm

DSM, the blardy rain!

Oi, I found a big round cushion from Mothercare was a great help as I didn't slouch/tug on stitches , sat on it for 2/3wks post birth.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/06/2012 09:36

Also chuffed as we passed inspection by The Queen of Clean my nan.

She said we have a very lovely home Grin

KateM77 · 03/06/2012 12:10

RIP chinchilla. Hope the weekend has improved Northern

Note to self: never hope out loud for a better night. DS first woke at 10.30, after I'd been asleep for 5 mins

Today DS has found baby rice disgusting, and only taken 1/2oz of formula. We're going hardcore on his ass though, I'm not topping him up and we'll try a bottle again later. It's just so frustrating, especially as he's now gone backwards, and I'm feeling more and more desperate to reclaim the boobs and wear nice bras again

DH has been shopping so I've now made some purees. We'll see how apple goes down tomorrow.

Mum coming over to sit tonight so that DH and I can finally go out for an evening together, to the village pub for a Jubilee quiz. I just hope DS isn't so starving that he won't sleep!

KateM77 · 03/06/2012 17:10

Total fail on bottle number 2 for today :(

aethelfleda · 03/06/2012 17:46

Sympathy kate, we've not had much luck this end with solids today: DS only seems to want a miniscule amount. I am more trying to get him acclimatised to the idea of solids/bibs/tastes than actually getting him to eat much just as well as he hardly eats anything yet, just a couple of teaspoons most meals . I've almost totally given up on bottles for now, though I think if he's really thirsty he will grudgingly take a little EBM.
I have the six-month timing for trying mixed feeding again firmly in my sights and we'll see who cracks first . I am feeling lardy and genuinely am starting to get that want-my-body-back feeling, it's been a year since I did proper exercise and I want to scale back on the three hours or so I spend feeding DS every day. Does that sound selfish? Tough if it does, I love him to bits but we have to function as a family and fully BFing when back to work is not gonna happen..

CherryBlossom27 · 03/06/2012 18:04

Hi everyone! As it's such miserable weather here, we finally took DS swimming for the first time this afternoon :o He was in the toddler pool for 20 minutes and giving us lots of big cheesey grins...so sweet! It was very busy, but all of the other parents kept a close eye on their kids and we had plenty of space. DH took DS out and changed etc and then sat in the cafe while I went in the big pool and did 26 lengths [proud emoticon] it's the first exercise other than walking that I've done since DS has been born!

DS is now zonked out in his cot!

In other news DS has cut his first two teeth, they're his bottom two middle teeth - so cute!

Kate if your LO doesn't like baby rice on its own, it's quite handy to use it to thicken up some of the more watery purées like apple, pear, cauliflower and broccoli. I've found gala the best variety for DS, I love braeburns but they're a bit tart for his tastes lol. I ended up having to mix those with other stuff to make it more appealing for him!

Figgy what is your DS like on the plane taking off and landing with the ear popping? Also what are the rules for taking milk on the plane? I'm picking your brains as we're going to Hong Kong later in the year and I'm having a control freak panic!

OiMissus Now you've mentioned wine I really fancy a glass! Might have to nicely ask DH to pop out and get some for later!

Northern Sorry to hear about your chinchilla, it's rubbish when pets die as they really are part of the family :(

MissRee · 03/06/2012 18:51

Wowee, teeth Cherry how many weeks is your LO now?

Just sitting down to bolognese and rice. What rubbish weather today! In DNeices words, the rain makes me sad!

CherryBlossom27 · 03/06/2012 21:49

Hi MissRee, he's the grand old age of 23 weeks, 1 day! His little teeth make his smile a whole different kind of cute!

I've decided 5 months is the best age, he's been as good as gold, he's sleeping 10-12 hours a night now, smiling, laughing and rolling, blowing raspberries!

Figgygal · 03/06/2012 22:20

cherry on the flight I just give him some milk on take off and landing for his ears. On my experience they make you test half of what milk you bring through I last took a made up bottle and a beaker of water in a cool bag and then 2 empty bottles/cartons so didn't have to open any of the cartons. Not sure how that works if you doing long haul as you would have to take lots of cartons to make sure you had enough.

I like 5 months too however he's still not rolling, no teeth and definitely not sleeping through Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 03/06/2012 22:55

Spent day at DP's sister's, so pretty knackered, but will check in tomorrow.

Thanks for all the thoughts for Ferdie Smile

MissRee · 03/06/2012 22:58

Too cute Cherry! Freya is now 20 weeks , drooling for England (patriotic drool?) and nomming down on anything within mouth's reach! Hopefully the teeth will come soon Grin

The thought of flying (and the packing/prep) with a baby fills me with dread so props to those of you taking LOs on holiday!

We had our first proper roll today. She has been rolling onto her side for weeks but today was the first time she's managed to get all the way over. She promptly rolled back again too! Unfortunately I was in the kitchen making tea when I heard DP's delighted yells at her roll Sad Oh well, with me going back to work in about 5 weeks, I'm sure it won't be the only first I miss.

MissRee · 03/06/2012 22:59

Still no raspberries here either... I blame her Tongue tie Grin

MissRee · 03/06/2012 23:11

I do believe DP is lurking somewhere on MN... so if you read this, bog off Grin

seven77 · 03/06/2012 23:16

missree great that she's rolling, sorry you missed it. Eva done her first proper laugh for DH then wouldn't do it again for nearly a week. Even now he gets the biggest smiles.

The thought of flying with a baby terrifies me!

Had a nice day today, roast lunch at my parents house, also with my sister and her DD. we compared child heights, the top of Eva's head comes up to her 20 month old cousins nose! The DCs are still feeling under the weather and DH has it too now. DH and DS fell asleep in the chair together this afternoon while me and Eva snuggled under a blanket while she napped on me, twas a very rare relaxing afternoon.

seven77 · 03/06/2012 23:18

Why is your DP lurking on MN? Should I tell him to bog off too?

Bog off MrRee :o

MissRee · 03/06/2012 23:23

Oh I don't know... I think he wants to see why I spend so much time here Grin He said Dadsnet is pants tho, just loads of blokes whinging that they're not getting any Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/06/2012 07:17

Well, Sky was up 2-3 times last night - so tired Sad which is unusual as its normally only once at 1am. Trying to figure out how to drop the night feed. Hmm

NorthernChinchilla · 04/06/2012 08:24

Hahahahahaha @ MissRee! I tried getting my Mum on Gransnet too, and she's fed up of the jam receipes....

So glad we buried Ferdie on Saturday, we wouldn't have been able to if we'd waited because of all this rain. I mean, I know it's a Bank Hol in June, and therefore it's going to be grim, but 12 degrees and piddling in summer Confused?!

Trip to DP's sister's was grand, as his Dad was there too. It's so funny, as his Dad is a slightly gruff, ex GP (who's now sadly very ill, on dialysis) who doesn't 'do' babies...apart from DS Grin. You can't prise him off him, he coos over him something rotten, and he has baby-whispering skills- DS wouldn't sleep all day yesterday, probably too excited, but DP's Dad got him to crash out for half an hour on him, and it's not the first time.

Sadly, this was balanced out by DP's niece. There's no other way to put it, but she's horrid. We were treated to her usual threats of violence (in a kiddie way, iyswim, but telling anyone you'll break their spine...) and to DP's Dad telling him that he couldn't get her because he was old and his kidneys didn't work.
She followed it up with, after turning down the chance to go to a street party, going upstairs and fake crying until a parent went and got her, found it was because she now wanted to go to the party, and took her.

She's still primary age. Sadly her parents have never said no, or exerted any discipline whatsoever- and pardon the wild generalisations here, but it's that sort of middle class parenting that holds that if you ever say no to little Jocaster it'll damage their development. I won't go into what it's like sharing a dining table with them.

And breath.

I need to make up some minestrone, and some tomato sauce over the next few days, and we'll go out for a meal today. As my Mum won £1k on a local lottery, she's given me some money for DS's savings, and a bit for me, so I'll treat the family Grin!

Hope you've all got something good planned despite the Bob-awful weather!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/06/2012 09:04

Darcie has turned back into the ignorant and disruptive little girl - doesn't help that I am exhausted. Sad

Going to my parents today for a picnic in the conservatory Smile was due to go to a national park but it's raining!
