Metanium DSM 'tis the business:o

I think the new thread should be something alon the lines of:

Unclean! Unclean! Bring out your grot, and your biohaz suits.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/05/2012 13:15

I brought Metanium everyday is that the right one?

LittleMissFlustered · 20/05/2012 13:22

Yellow tube, primrose yellow cream, consistency of concrete and sets similarly.

OP posts:
DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/05/2012 13:34

This one is a big white tube with White cream! Here
so wrong one? Off to shops I go tomorrow then..

seven77 · 20/05/2012 13:39

Another vote for metanium, I only had to use it twice and nappy rash completely went. Also nappy free time helped, after 5 minutes it looked slightly less red.

Can anyone tell me how long the why phase lasts? DS is driving me mad constantly asking!

seven77 · 20/05/2012 13:41

dsm wrong one I'm afraid. The yellow one is for treatment of nappy rash rather than a barrier cream to prevent it.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/05/2012 13:47

They were out of stock of the other one in Asda yesterday.

HoneyLovesCake · 20/05/2012 13:52

It's very nice dsm, their reception was in the Spinnaker Suite I think, that's the one on the 1st floor with all the windows? I hope your dress isn't too heavy though, that room gets very warm when you fill it with people & I expect it'll be pretty hot in August. The bride was in a big princess dress & was boiling; not that she minded much after a few drinks Wink

My OH got the Everyday one dsm by mistake, took a couple of days but it still cleared up Rocco's very nasty rash better than anything else I'd tried :)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/05/2012 13:57

Honey Yep that's it - the one with all the windows. My dress isn't to heavy - and we can open the doors that lead to the balcony. <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=maggie+sottero+celestina&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=cv5Mm2Pd2AiEsM:&imgrefurl=209.200.242.223/Maggie-Sottero/Bridal/Celestina.asp&docid=jEWC0Ab8i5WC_M&imgurl=209.200.242.223/productImages/Maggie-Sottero/Large/Maggie_Sottero_Celetina.jpg&w=294&h=400&ei=B-q4T5-bOcTT8gPSzriZCg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=296&sig=107184991563945885937&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=104&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:80&tx=89&ty=99" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">mydress

Ahh right thanks Honey Will try it for another couple of days and see how we go :)

HoneyLovesCake · 20/05/2012 14:35

Oooh, pretty :)

BeeMyBaby · 20/05/2012 14:59

dsm gorgeous dress!

aethal DD2 got her first tooth on Monday, kinda surprised she only has one as DD1's teeth always came up in pairs. Unfortunately it looks slightly twisted, but at least its just her baby teeth.

I'm very much a winner of the bad mama award this weekend as I was not keeping an eye on DD1 properly and thought she was in the bathroom playing with the cat water when she actually was shaving her legs...and nicked her toe so DH says its the absolute worst thing ever and I should feel very guilty. But there is too much guilt in the world already so I'm trying not to dwell on it and my razor is now very much out of her reach.

Unfortunately I haven't read anything since DD2 was born as I was always reading on the bus.

aethelfleda · 20/05/2012 15:18

Wow, dsm, love the dress!

Another vote for metanium Yellow: it was what they used in ScBU if the teeny tinies got nappy rash. Always works a treat on mine, it's just drier than the other creams and seems to calm the irritation quicker.

Baptism was lovely: very low key (I'm a Methodist) and relaxed. It was just me and the spawn, DH is an agnostic so prefers not to come but we're very tolerant of each others' spiritual journeys, as it were. Other relatives are too far away/old/disinterested, the church folk we know are lovely so that was all we needed. Plus a big stack of tea, coffee, cake and millionaires shortbread.

hawthers that sounds v encouraging! Keep it up and see how you do: I've heard that boys can be trickier especially with poos but that seems positive if he's nailing the wee bit. A lot of kiddies do wees in the day and then wait til their night nappy is on to poo til they get used to the whole idea...

OiMissus · 20/05/2012 17:10

Very pretty dress dsm! I can see it'll really suit you. Perfect. :)
Well done hawthers - looks like potty training is getting better, hope you're feeling more cheerful.
Do you say congratulations on a baptism, aethel? well, congratulations. Smile
We've been out to lunch with friends to the pub that would be our "local" in the new house. We like it (we've been before), and we've just bought tickets to their Diamond Jubilee celebration. Hog roast - yes please!

LittleMissFlustered · 20/05/2012 17:38

Dinner needs to be done already.

pretty dress Smile

seven77 · 20/05/2012 18:09

Gorgeous dress dsm.

aethel the low key baptism sounds lovely :)

bee that's quite unfair of your DH making you feel guilty, it's not like you deliberately let her play with your razor. Come to think of it mine is usually on the edge of the bath.

I feel like there's an elephant sitting on my chest.

Does anyone have anything nice planned for this week? Our 3 week old chicks should arrive on Thursday, I'm really excited! The chicken house arrives Wednesday (though they're staying in the hallway for the first 3 weeks), DS has another x ray and fracture clinic on Friday, then it's the charity quiz on Friday night

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 20/05/2012 18:28

Thanks Ladies Grin

Bee DH shouldn't be blaming you for the razor incident.

Both DP & I keep our razors on the edge of the bath -

Right ladies what would you class as Glamourous wear? Going on my friends Hen on Saturday in Windsor and need to wear something Glamourous?! This is after the 2hr burlesque dancing class lol!

OiMissus · 20/05/2012 18:42

Glamourous... I'd be thinking "silver screen", - some kind of fitted satin dress, Elbow length gloves, tall heels. Grin

KateM77 · 20/05/2012 19:25

BioHaz here too. Feelike death. Sore tonsil, sore head, can't control my temp. Turned blue at DD's friend's party and his mum had get me a blanket and cup of coffee. Now would be a good time for DS to start taking a bottle. DH took the DC's this afternoon and DS didn't get his nap. He's now overtired, grizzling and chewing on my nipples rather than feeding off to sleep. I just want to get him put down and go to bed myself

Bleurgh, I hate snot. I hate colds, as you're not properly ill, you just feel shitty, you are surrounded by damps tissues, you have a red, sore and dead sexy nose.
And why on DP's birthday too?

He says thanks for the birthday good wishes btw!

aethelfleda · 20/05/2012 19:45

Get well soon all you poorly folks!

(the new Horrible Histories is great by the way: take a look
on iPlayer even if your LOs aren't big enough yet!

hawthers · 20/05/2012 20:28

Get well soon to all.

Glad the baptism went well aethel

Amazing dress dsm

Only one moore sleep until oi's house purchase is confirmed.

bee rubbish re DH and razor

Gah DS1 just vommed an entire feed over me. Potty update postponed until later...

seven77 · 20/05/2012 20:41

I'd forgotten about ois house, that's made me feel slightly better.

northern you sound how I feel. kate sorry it's got you too. Why are we plagued?!

I've just realised DD will be 26 weeks tomorrow! I know I really should know but my brain has turned to mush, is it 6 months everything has to be sterile for? I know bottles need to be done as long as they're used but what about spoons and bowls? And should I attempt a gluten-containing jar tomorrow or wait until DH is here? And does being possible lactose intolerant make her more likely to be gluten intolerant or do intolerances work differently to allergies? Apologies if no one can answer that last one!

aethelfleda · 20/05/2012 21:16

Hi seven, some people sterilise all formula bottles til 12 months, others move to dishwashing them on hot, personally I'd got into a rhythm of sterilising so continued it just for bottles until 12 month making up 24 hours worth each evening. It's up to you. By six months baby has developed a fledgling immune system so is more tolerant of muck than a newborn (just as well given that they gum everything!). From six months non- bottle items can just be cleaned well with hot soapy water, water can be plain tap water, and frankly in a month or two they'll be eating dirtballs from under the sofa and chewing daddy's trainers!

Gluten wise again timing up to you but baby's gut should now be mature enough to handle it. Lactose intolerance is a seperate thing from gluten sensitivity as far as I know (not a dietician) but it's not an instant allergic reaction you see with gluten exposure as an infant: it's early gluten exposure that is linked to coeliac disease in later life (most sufferers diagnosed aged 30-50).

Exciting stuff with our DCs approaching and reaching the six month mark!
